12 November 2010 730 am and no rain. I looked out of our bedroom window towards the sea. Where yesterday there had hung heavy grey clouds today there hints of blue. However yesterday started this way and the last weather forecast we saw predicted more of the same for today. This made deciding what to do today difficult. There are two things in particular that we wanted to do firstly walk to th
Cape Tribulation and Daintree Rainforest
Well I spent the last few days in Cape Tribulation with the Contiki Tour. It was pretty cool. We stayed in a resort in the Daintree Rainforest It was absolutely beautiful. We went on a few more hikes through the forest and saw lots of different wildlife and trees including a large bird called a Cassowary which is aparently pretty rare to see We also swam in some neat freshwater swimming holes
Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie
well we left the colourful mix of the Byron Bay culture and laidback village ambience behind and arrived in Coffs Harbour were we were picked up by the hostel and taken to this amazing look out over the bay mind you it blew the cob webs off Although we only stayed there for three nights we felt that was enough and managed to spot wild koalas on our walks and also sht ourselves when we came ac
Rajasthan Continued….
Thursday 28 OctoberWe leave Jaisalmer this morning and head out through the dusty desert towards Jodhpur a city of approximately 500000 inhabitants. The desert I see from the road is a lot different to the desert in Morocco the Indian desert has a lot more scrub than sand. Our itinerary includes a Jain Temple but this is fairly average and should be missed. Back in the car I plug in my Ipod
14 Nov Port Macquarie
well we arrived in Port Macquarie to broken sunshine and was intrigued seems this is meant to be one of the most popular tourist destinations on the NSW coast and evidence of the convict history........although the first night was dedicated to getting straight on the old faithful goon once again Since we thought we were been spoilt with this place having 9 or more beaches our first day was sp
Orvieto Nov 10
As soon as we left assisi it started raining again.but luckily during the last 40 min it eased off which was heaven sent as access to Orvieto is via windey mountain range we had to traverse Scenery was lovely for me Max to busy concentrating on road Had to drop car off at 4 .pm got there on time. Found a little hotel to stay here the night in the town at the bottom of the cliff then took
The Harbour Bridge Climb
The Harbour Bridge climb came highly recommended so I had a go. There was a minimum age of ten years so our sonwasnt old enough to do it which he was absolutely gutted about. In fact we will apparently need to go back to Australia in a few years time so that he can do the climb. To say that they took safety seriously on this climb would be an understatement. We all had to take breathtests w
From The Mountains to The Surf
We again hired yet another car for the day and set off for the Blue Mountains. By any other standards it would have been a long way however after Darwin to Kakadu it was a just round the corner. We had planned to go back to Mrs Macquaries Point and Bondi Beach however we didnt realise that it was the day of the City to Surf funrun which effectively ruled out both of those locations at leas
The Sights and Wildlife of Australia
For our last day in Sydney we got the ferry across to Taronga Zoo. We concentrated on the Australian section of the zoo given that Whipsnade Wildlife Park is not far from where we live.Once we got back to Sydney we went to the top of the Centrepoint Tower now the AMP Tower. It was quite frustrating trying to get to the top and then down again as the lifts were so unbelievably slow. We were in a
Fairwell to Australia
Following the stress of Melbourne we had loads of time at Sydney airport. I had wanted to go to the Powerhouse Museum but didnt because of time although in fact I would probably have had time after all rather than wasting it in an airport. The final destination for the flight we were on was Heathrow going via Hong Kong however all these new security measures didnt seem to make much diffe
The Largest Light Show on Earth
It wasnt so long ago that we were last in Hong Kong so we knew exactly what we wanted to do and where we wanted to go. The first stop was repulse bay after of course travelling from Kowloon where the hotel was on the Star Ferry. Next was the walk around the peak and then the tram down. Next was a ride on a tram through Central and on the midlevel escalators. One thing that was really starti
Ending The Holiday With a Day for The Children
Once we had done everything we wanted to in Hong Kong it was off to Disneyland to finish the holiday on a high well for Jake and Freya at least. We took the train but it wasnt direct and coping with all our luggage was not an experience that would want to repeat. The actual train to Disneyland was an experience as it was very themed with Mickey Mouse windows handrails and the like
The Heat of Disney Was Too Much So We Went to The Pool
The Hong Kong Disneyland was no where near as big as the one in Paris so the day and a half that we had left was probably about right. That said we didnt bank on all the queues which were excessive. It was clear that there were not enough rides for the number of people who were allowed to enter. We event had to wait for 45 minutes when we had the Fastpasses. There was a very impressive 3D mov
I am alive and well
I am alive and a bum for completely neglecting this blog. I am very well though and loving my time in Costa Rica. Everyday I appreciate the people around me more for the most part. Life is good and care free in a kind of surreal way for instance the GIANTS WINNING THE WORLD in a pretty much drama free series sticking it to George Bush and the state of Texas I watched games 1 and 2 at a sports

Zipolite
I left Mexico City for the beach.I took a bus to Oaxaca City and enjoyed some early morning tropical feelings. The sounds of birds thick vegetation and rolling hills. I moved to the second class bus terminal to find more local buses that would head to some of the less touristy beaches for a more authentic beach experience. The morning coffee and toast was definetly second class nothing annoy
Getting Here
Things are always interesting with kids. On the way to the airport was no exception. In fact just before we went through the boom gate to the car park Darcy vomited. Poor thing had been complaining of a sore stomach. Phil was convinced it was the cream cheese and gherkins on crackers for bfast. Thankfully Phil had got us out of the house early so that I had plenty of time to spare if it had been
Training day…Pen y Fan
Just got back from a march up to the summit of Pen y Fan.I can feel the familiar ache in my feet. My calves are straining flexed waiting to see what I ask of them next.Pain comes in many forms this one is welcome. Although to be frank it hardly qualifies as pain. Anyone who's been up Pen y Fan will know it's not exactly a hard task. And the sun was shining today. The wind however obvio
The trip comes to an end
Happy Easter If there was any doubt that Croatia is one of the most Catholic nations in the world I confirmed it this morning. My walk down the hill from the hostel to the bus station reminded me of a Friday night in Tiberiasnobody is walking around. Only now I can't find a McDonalds. Come to think of it I don't think I have seen any fastfood joints in Dubrovnik.I think it is hard for Americ
Backblog 2 Italian Adventures
Italian AdventuresSo as part of the series of what I have deemed 'backblogging' cause I am blogging about stuff that happen a while back it seems necessary to write about Italy our first adventure away from London.Emma's work told her she had to take 10 days holiday before the new tax year April in the UK for those not in the know. So as hard as it was to force ourselves to make time for a
