Grey's Anatomy Spoiler Alert: Jesse Williams Dishes on "Shocker" Finale! Plus, Hope for New Couple?

"He's struggling," Williams admits about his character.

And there isn't just one source of stress that could make Jackson Avery lose his cool in the board exams.

"He already comes in stressed about it, primarily because of his family and his legacy and those expectations," the actor explains. "But then that doubles and quadruples with pressure because of this new issue with April, his best friend. On top of that, mom is here and...she is banging the Chief. So it's a lot going on at once. It's like a hornet's nest."

That is some hornet's nest, all right.

Will April and Jackson's friends-turned-lovers hookup ruin their friendship? Williams says, "I think he's a very understanding guy. It's a lot on his shoulders, but [April's] someone he genuinely cares about."

But that doesn't necessarily mean these hot docs will launch into a relationship or even let their new Facebook status determine their next career move.

"They don't have time. They have seven other fires to put out at the same time," Williams continues. "It's one thing to be in a long-standing relationship, but in this it's sort of separate and weird. Am I supposed to care about your opinion? Is it supposed to be part of my decision making process? I don't think we know yet."

Scandal: Grey's Anatomy's Kate Burton Makes Her Debut as the VP

The vice president will finally be introduced in Thursday's episode of Scandal - and she's the polar opposite of President Fitz (Tony Goldwyn).

"She's kind of like a combo physically between Dianne Feinstein and Nancy Pelosi, but when she opens her mouth she's pure Michele Bachmann," says Kate Burton, who plays Sally Langston, the Tea Party conservative who was once Fitz's enemy. (She sounds peachy!) Burton is all too familiar with playing a strong female matriarch, having portrayed Ellis Grey on Grey's Anatomy, a role that surely came in handy when taking on the VP of the United States.

Exclusive Scandal Video: Find out whether Amanda Tanner is dead or alive

But who is Sally really? And could she be behind the mysterious blackmailer who's giving the President so much trouble? TVGuide.com caught up with Burton to get the scoop on that and her reunion with her Grey's Anatomy ex-husband:

What kind of person is the vice president? Kate Burton: She's an absolutely strict, conservative Southern republican. It's just really fascinating to play her because things came out of my mouth that would actually never come out of my real mouth. She is so arch-conservative and the president is so moderate. I wanted to play her and obviously not make her any kind of cartoon liberal or conservative. I wanted to make her a real person. We know what a real person she is because there are things that get to her more than anything: anything to do with her daughter. She is a mom who became a politician and she's ruthless, but she's also got a heart.

Fitz and Sally were actually running against each other in the presidential campaign. What can you tell us about their road to the White House? Burton: The reality is, when we do the flashback [in next week's episode], we discover that she was actually in the lead. She was doing really, really well. As things happen in politics, something turned everything around and then suddenly he starts becoming much more appealing. Their competition was very real. It was a real clear choice between the two of them, and she was gaining. It was a juggernaut and they didn't quite know how to stop her.

Scandal Scoop: Cyrus is about to wage war on Pope & Associates

Is Sally still angry that Fitz beat her to the presidency? Burton: If you read about anything where there is a very powerful contest between two very different people, like Lyndon Johnson and John Kennedy, suddenly Kennedy ascends and he asks Johnson to be his vice president. It's not easy because Johnson's used to being in a very powerful position. I'm also on Veep on HBO and that's our running gag: When you become vice president, you lose your power. It is hard for Sally, but she's a politician. She is very, very deeply religious, by the way. I can't believe I haven't mentioned that until now! She's a woman of the founding faith. So she uses her faith to help her with how disappointed she is with not being able to win the presidency, or the nomination.

Would she do anything to get into the Oval Office? Could she be behind the blackmailing? Burton: I think she's pretty determined. She's pretty ruthless. It's going to be a very uneasy partnership between she and Fitz. And of course when she discovers what is happening with Amanda Tanner (Liza Weil), she operates on a fairly moral high ground. What I love about Tony is that you don't know whether to like him or dislike him a lot of the time, and I think the same with me. You probably will not know whether I was the good guy or the bad guy. I think I'm both, and I think he is too. Both of them have these very manipulative chiefs, Billy Chambers (Matt Letscher) and Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry), and those Chiefs of Staff will stop at nothing.

Billy is Sally's trusted right-hand man, but can he really be trusted? Burton: I think she thinks so. I think that she completely trusts him. He's such a clean-cut, All-American-looking guy that you think, "Oh yeah he's absolutely trustworthy." He gets overcome with wanting her to succeed to where he loses his grasp of reality. It's very fun because I think it's very surprising what happens as the story winds on.

A Rewarding Year for Expedia Customers: Expedia Customers Earned 4.3 Billion Points in First Year of Expedia Rewards …

BELLEVUE, WA--(Marketwire -05/04/12)- Expedia.com, the world's leading online travel agency, today announced that as of its first anniversary, the Expedia Rewards program bestowed more than four billion rewards points on Expedia members in the United States. The Expedia Rewards loyalty program allows members to earn points on the hotels, flights, resorts, vacation packages and activities they book on Expedia.com.

3.7 million Expedia travelers signed up for Expedia Rewards in the first year of the program, averaging 7,000 travelers enrolling in Expedia Rewards each day. One program member earned more than 940,000 in the past year, while another topped 850,000 points. Members can earn up to two Expedia Rewards points per dollar spent on flights, hotels, activities and vacation packages that include a hotel. When hotels and flights are booked as a package -- booked simultaneously -- the rewards points earn rate rises.

The billions of points earned by Expedia customers represent only a portion of the rewards available to a traveler. Expedia designed its program to complement, rather than compete with, airline rewards programs and to allow consumers to "double dip." Expedia Rewards members who are part of an airline or eligible credit card loyalty program can continue to earn frequent flyer and credit card program points when they book through Expedia while at the same time earning Expedia Rewards points. And members are not limited to one hotel brand loyalty program. Expedia Rewards allows members to redeem points for coupons at more than 70,000 Expedia Special Rate hotels. Members can also vacation anywhere at any time, because Expedia Rewards have no blackout dates or capacity restrictions.

"3.7 million new members represent a fine first year for the Expedia Rewards program, but we're only just getting started," said Joe Megibow, vice president and general manager, Expedia.com. "On top of our already great package savings and deals, we are now the only online travel agency with a loyalty program like this. We think this last year has shown the booking with Expedia is more rewarding than ever, without compromise -- book with us and you continue to earn your airline miles in addition to earning Expedia points. Book anywhere else and that's not an option."

In addition to Expedia Rewards, the company features the Expedia Elite Plus Program, which gives members exclusive perks at select hotels. To qualify for Expedia Elite Plus, travelers need to stay 15 hotel nights or complete $10,000 worth of travel via Expedia in a calendar year. Once the traveler reaches either threshold they are automatically enrolled. Elite Plus travel benefits include free room upgrades, priority customer care and much more.

Pinterest spreading to the travel world

As a travel writer, I'm always looking for new tools I can use to help plan my trips. Lately, there's been lots of talk about a social media site called Pinterest, a free online photo bulletin board that's popular with designers, foodies and crafts people.

But could you use it to plan trips? Well, yes. It turns out that the travel industry, as well as individual travelers, are starting to use this visual social platform with interesting results.

The photos make it easy for a traveler to quickly scan a destination's food, architecture or historic sites. If you're intrigued by a picture, a click on it will take you to more content.

For instance, the Pinterest page of Westchester-Frederick Country, Va., (www.pinterest.com/winchesterva) has a category called "Events & Attractions." Click on the photo of singer Patsy Cline, and you'll be taken to details on touring the house where she lived from ages 16 to 21, as well as a video of her music.

The Pinterest page of Savannah, Ga., (www.pinterest.com/visitsavannah/) also is pulling in traffic, with boards such as "Haunted Savannah," "Shop Savannah" and "Savannah Hotels" (with some photos linking to online reservations).

Search tips

Look for the red Pinterest button on travel websites you visit; a click on it will take you to their Pinterest profiles.

Use the site's search box (next to the magnifying glass icon).

Do both a "Boards" and a "People" search (below the regular search box) for keywords such as resorts, hotels, tourism, CVB (conventions and visitors bureaus), visits, vacations, etc. You'll often get different results.

Super Vision for Soldiers

Super soldier Captain America may have had excellent vision back in the 40s, but modern soldiers may have the opportunity to outstrip the Avengers sight with Predator-style vision.

Innovegas iOptik contact lenses sharpen real world vision while simultaneously simulating a 3D HD panoramic screen. The company hopes to gain FDA approval this year -- and the Department of Defense has recently placed an order for a prototype.

HUDs (head-up displays) that present a virtual computer screen to the viewer have become increasingly advanced and complex. But military models, notably bulky helmets for fighter pilots that overlay data on targets, tend to be cumbersome.

A computer interface thats entirely hands-free could give troops a clear advantage.

For example, soldiers, marines, airmen or seamen who need their hands free for weapons use could study a detailed map without toying with a handheld or dropping their gaze. The iOptik system could also potentially provide real-time feeds from satellites, drones or even a teammates helmet camera, displayed as if on a transluscent computer screen to a fighter on the move.

Innovegas iOptik contact lenses are intended to be fielded together with a far more compact HUD unit; picture Oakley sunglasses modified to allow the images to be projected onto them.

There are two primary options for this type of display: VR (virtual reality) systems that swap a soldiers real world view for a computer generated one, and AR (augmented reality) systems that superimpose computer generated images over reality.

Research undertaken by the company has been funded by DARPA and the National Science Foundation and their AR lenses work by using two different filters in each lens -- in effect the soldier can see through the data to the real world.

The system creates a dual-focus effect for the eye by sending light to different parts of the pupil; the retina sees both images in focus simultaneously. A data feed (or satellite feed, or map info or whatever) is sent from the center of each lens to the center of the pupil while light from the real world is directed by the outer part of the lens to the rim of the pupil.

The human eye has a restricted capacity to focus on very near objects, leading to solutions that make data appear as if on a computer screen several feet away; Innovegas iOptik creates the effect of viewing a 20-foot television at a distance of 10 feet.

Stem cell therapy for WCMS student has remarkable results

When Tyler was born, the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck, causing a lack of oxygen to his brain that led to Tyler suffering a stroke during delivery. The stroke caused damage to the back of Tylers brain. Tyler was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and his mother, Lisa Biermann, was told to expect the worst: a child who would never walk, talk, or have any chance at a normal life.

Lisa refused to give up hope. She tried everything she could to help Tyler. Tyler could not walk because his feet would not sit flat on the floor. She tried botox injections every three months, braces, casts and even ankle cord surgery. Nothing worked.

Lisa said Tyler could not communicate with her at all. She never knew when he was in pain because he was unable to tell her.

Tyler was considered to be blind, with a prescription that was over nine units nearsighted, and his eyes jumped around. Even with glasses, he could not focus his vision, and doctors did not believe he could see, or ever would see.

Until he was 8 years old, Lisa would carry Tyler from his classes at Woodland Park Elementary.

When Tyler was 8, he had a seizure. Dr. David Steenblock, who is based in California, heard about Tyler and offered to help him with umbilical cord stem cell therapy. Lisa said she thought hard about it, and because she had tried everything else and nothing had worked, she decided to try the stem cell therapy, which Dr. Steenblock told her had no side effects.

In December 2007, Lisa, Dr. Steenblock and his team took Tyler for the treatment, which had to be done in Tijuana, Mexico, because stem cells injection is currently not legal in the United States. Three months later, they went for a second injection.

The stem cells were given to Tyler intravenously for a period of approximately 45 minutes.

Lisa said within weeks, she saw monumental changes in Tyler. All the milestones he never reached as a baby, he began reaching.

Within three months Tyler could put his feet flat on the floor and could walk independently. At six months post-treatment, he no longer needed the painful braces that gave him bunions.

House candidate Stacey Lawson explains why she pulled her online posts about spirituality (VIDEO)

Stacey Lawson is the first-time candidate running with 11 others to take retiring Democratic Rep. Lynn Woolseys North Coast seat. The wealthy tech entrepreneur backed by major Democratic funder Susie Tompkins Buelll is focusing her candidacy on biz background.

But she also has had a longstanding interest in spirituality and meditation and posted regularly on The Huffington Post a blog called Conscious Living. But after launching her Congressional run last year, Lawson pulled down all those posts. But now, she tells The Chronicle that shes ready to start talking about them.

Youd think. Geez, if there was one Congressional district in the country where an appreciation of spirituality and meditation might be an advantage, it would be one where Marin County voters are expected to supply a large chunk of the ballots.

On a different level, the attempted scrubbing has an odd ring, especially for a Democrat. With President Obama promising but not always succeeding to run the most transparent administration in history, it is odd that a candidate would try to scrub a portion of her past. Especially a candidate with a tech background, who knows the difficulty in erasing online history. Some of her posts are archived, like this one.

But these are deeply personal blogs and Lawson told us that as brand-new candidate introducing herself to voters, she didnt want them to distract from her core economic message. Here Lawson tells the San Francisco Chronicle/SFGate.coms Shaky Hand Productions about why she pulled down her posts.and now she sounds like shes ready to talk about them:

Here is a clip of one of those posts:

Todays post is a personal journey. I havent written in several weeks as Ive been in a terrible state lost, confused, despairing. Raw and vulnerable. Shattered. My only small comfort has been knowing this is a well-worn path. Many mystics have written about the Dark Night of the Soul, the narrow passage tread by those seeking freedom and union with the Divine.

I debated whether to write this post, questioning what value I could really offer from a place of such agony and confusion? Yet, some internal voice prodded me forward. Share the process, share the experience

These last months have taken me into a depth of spiritual despair previously unimaginable. The experience has been a ruthless stripping away of my false, idealized sense of self. Having studied with a spiritual master for many years, this process is not new, of coursebut it has never been this ruthless. This has taken me to ground zero a massive deconstruction of the remaining image of who I am. It has mercilessly dissolved my most cherished beliefs, and shattered every assumption about what I thought was true.

Wesak a day to reflect on the teachings of Buddha

BUDDHISTS celebrate Wesak today by paying respect to Lord Buddha on his birthday, for attainment of enlightenment and to commemorate his death.

Buddhists pray in temples early in the morning, attend chanting sessions, have vegetarian food as well as take part in community service.

Sri Lanka Buddhist Temple chief monk Venerable Saranankara Nayaka Maha Thera said devotees could also commemorate and honour Buddha not just by buying joss-sticks and flowers to be offered but understanding his teachings and most of all put it to practice.

Every religion has a beautiful set of teachings but we must all learn to practise it and understand the philosophical side of it.

You can visit a hundred temples on Wesak Day and it will not do you any good if do not know the teachings of Buddha, said Saranankara.

He added that one should practice Dana (act of giving), Sila (observing Buddhist precepts) and Bhavana (wisdom through meditation) not only on Wesak but should also make it an everyday ritual.

People often misunderstand this concept. Dana does not only mean feeding the monks, but also giving in terms of material, spiritual and also donating anything from blood or even your organs, he said.

He said in Sri Lanka cornea donation had become popular among residents there because donors believe they would receive better vision in their next life.

This year, the 59-year-old resident monk will be participating in the blood donation campaign together with fellow monks and devotees.

He said the practice had been introduced since 1986 and had become a yearly affair at the temple for Wesak and Kathina festival.

SpaceX 'unlikely' to visit International Space Station on May 7

Although the spacecraft was set for a May 7 launch, a spokesperson now says that it's working on software assurance with NASA, and will be forced to delay the launch.

The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.

Space enthusiasts have been looking forward to May 7, the date set for SpaceX to launch its Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon spacecraft for a rendezvous with the International Space Station. Now it appears they'll have to wait a bit longer.

"At this time, a May 7 launch appears unlikely," SpaceX spokeswoman Kirstin Grantham told the AFP in an interview yesterday. "SpaceX is continuing to work through the software assurance process with NASA. We will issue a statement as soon as a new launch target is set."

SpaceX had originally planned to launch the spacecraft this week, but pushed the event back to give engineers more time to complete preflight testing and analysis. Last week, it set the May 7 launch date, scheduling the spacecraft to liftoff from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida at 6:38 a.m. PT.

Now that SpaceX has all but decided to push the launch back, May 8 and May 9 are not available launch windows, leaving May 10 the earliest date for another launch. Grantham told the AFP that May 10 was still a possible launch day, but if the company doesn't believe that'll work, it could be pushed back more than a week.

The excitement surrounding SpaceX's launch is palpable. If all goes well, the company's spacecraft will be the first privately built and funded spacecraft to rendezvous with the International Space Station. The goal is for SpaceX to conduct regular commercial cargo missions to the space station.

"It's almost like the lead-up to Apollo, in my mind," Mike Horkachuck, NASA's project executive for SpaceX, said in a statement last week. "You had Mercury then you had Gemini and eventually you had Apollo. This would be similar in the sense that, we're not going to the moon or anything as spectacular as that, but we are in the beginnings of commercializing space. This may be the Mercury equivalent to eventually flying crew and then eventually leading to, in the long run, passenger travel in space."

Grantham expects SpaceX to issue a statement tomorrow on its spacecraft's new launch date. Let's hope it comes sooner rather than later.

First private cargo run to space station now May 19

A private U.S. company has set a new date for launching a cargo ship to the International Space Station.

Space Exploration Technologies Corp., better known as SpaceX, said Friday it was now aiming for a May 19 liftoff of its Falcon rocket and Dragon capsule. It will be the first commercial cargo run to the space station.

The launch of the supply ship had been scheduled for Monday but was delayed for more software testing. The test flight is already three months late.

NASA used to stockpile the space station through the shuttles, but the fleet was retired last summer. The space agency wants commercial providers to carry up supplies and eventually astronauts.

In the meantime, NASA is paying Russia to ferry astronauts to the space station.

SpaceX's historic space station mission delayed again

The private spaceflight company SpaceX will likely postpone the planned launch of its Dragon capsule to the International Space Station next week, officials announced May 2.

SpaceX was targeting the launch for Monday, May 7, but now will likely shift to a later date, possibly May 10. The unmanned Dragon spacecraft is due to lift off atop a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

"At this time, a May 7th launch appears unlikely," SpaceX spokeswoman Kirstin Brost Grantham wrote in a statement. "SpaceX is continuing to work through the software assurance process with NASA. We will issue a statement as soon as a new launch target is set."

The Dragon mission will be be the very first visit of a privately built spacecraft to the International Space Station. During the test flight, the spacecraft will carry food, supplies and scientific equipment for the astronauts living on the orbiting outpost.

The flight was previously delayed from an April 30 launch date to allow more time for tests of Dragon's flight software. The new delay is also meant to allow for further checkouts.

SpaceX conducted a test firing of its Falcon 9 booster engines April 30. The test went successfully on its second try, after a first attempt that same day was stalled by an apparent computer glitch.

SpaceX has a $1.6 billion contract with NASA to fly 12 cargo-delivery missions to the space station with Dragon. The capsule is scheduled to be the first spacecraft to fly under NASA's Commercial Orbital Transportation Services (COTS) program, which has funded the development of private vehicles to fill the gap in cargo services left by the space shuttle retirement.
