Liberty Silver Starts Planning for Production at Trinity Silver

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire -07/24/12)- Liberty Silver Corp. (LSL.TO)(LBSV) ("Liberty Silver" or the "Company") has engaged an independent consultancy, SRK Consulting (U.S.), Inc., of Reno, Nevada, to undertake a scoping study for silver production at Liberty Silver's Trinity Silver property.

"We remain guided by our disciplined mitigated-risk approach," said Geoffrey Browne, Liberty Silver's Chairman and CEO. "Even though we have identified multiple exploration targets at Trinity, our board of directors and management are keenly aware of current challenging conditions for junior mining companies in global capital markets. We are thus evaluating various options, including the prudency of immediately proceeding with production planning and execution."

Liberty Silver completed and filed a NI 43-101 technical report on the Trinity mining district silver project in December 2011. The report identified an inferred resource that the Company expects to upgrade in the near term. As part of the first phase 2012 drilling program (See press releases January 25, and July 9, 2012), two drill holes, of a planned twelve-hole program, successfully began confirming the grade and thickness of the resource. Other holes identified strong new silver mineralization outside the current NI 43-101 inferred resource.

The scoping study by SRK Consulting will include the following:

Liberty Silver has also retained JBR Environmental of Reno, Nevada, to begin the permitting process for mine development. JBR has done all of the environmental work for Liberty Silver on the project to date.

Liberty Silver is currently planning the second phase of the Trinity 2012 drill program at locations adjacent to and removed from the resource area as well as confirmation drilling within the resource area.

Johnson to voters: Give Libertarian a chance

Libertarian Party presidential nominee Gary Johnson said Monday that he wont release his tax returns, joining his voice to that of presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney, who has declined to release more than the two most recent years.

In a meeting with editors and reporters at The Washington Times, Mr. Johnson said he hadnt previously been asked to release his forms, but said he understood Mr. Romneys reluctance. Mr. Johnson, a former New Mexico governor who built a contracting company from the ground up, said he hasnt owed taxes to the federal government in recent years because he has suffered heavy losses and he speculated that may be the same reason Mr. Romney has declined to release his own.

I think the consensus is, is that hes trying to hide the fact that hes made a whole lot of money, as opposed to that he actually probably didnt pay any tax because he lost so much money. Thats my guess. Because Im in the same camp, Mr. Johnson said.

Asked specifically whether he would release his returns, the candidate said he would respectfully decline.

Mr. Johnson, who won the Libertarian Partys nomination in May after dropping out of the GOP race late last year, said he is asking voters to give him and his party another look and said he is counting on dissatisfaction with both major parties to push voters into his corner.

A lot more people say they are libertarian than vote Libertarian, so what Im trying to tap into is: Vote Libertarian just this one time and really give me a chance to really make a difference, he said.

He said his only path to victory is to gain attention by being allowed into the presidential debates, where he can raise his profile and try to build a coalition of voters who tend to be fiscally conservative and socially accepting.

The only way that I win is if I am on the national debate stage with Romney and Obama, and the only way I do that is if Im in the polls that determine who gets in the debates. And right now, only three polling organizations out of 18 are including my name, he said.

Mr. Johnson meets the age and citizenship qualifications to be president and will appear on enough state ballots to be able to win the electoral votes needed to claim the White House two of the criteria the commission that sponsors the debates requires.

Surprisingly, the U.K. is made up of about 6,000 different islands, and some of the most unfamiliar ones are often the most fascinating. In ISLANDS OF BRITAIN, actor Martin Clunes ("Doc Martin," "Men Behaving Badly," "Reggie Perrin") sets out to explore these beautiful but remote communities, shedding new light on their history, culture, flora and fauna.

Clunes guides us through amazing landscapes and seascapes, meeting colorful locals along the way. The three-part series showcases all sorts of island dwellers from people who live off the land, to the mega rich who use their islands to escape the paparazzi. We also get to hear some remarkable stories of British folklore, with tales of smugglers, pirates, wizards and saints.

China strengthens islands claims

BEIJING, July 23 (UPI) -- China took further steps to strengthen its claims on disputed islands in the South China Sea, including deciding to deploy a military garrison in the region.

The official Xinhua news agency said China's powerful central military authority had approved to form and deploy a military garrison in Sansha, a newly formed prefectural-level city in south China's Hainan province. Sansha is designed to administer the Xisha, Zhongsha and Nansha Islands and the surrounding waters in the South China Sea, Xinhua reported.

The decision to deploy soldiers came after Sansha's first city people's congress announced deputies were elected during the weekend by the 1,100 residents from the islands, Xinhua reported. Yongxing Island was named the government seat of Sansha, established in June.

Xisha, Zhongsha and Nansha Islands are Chinese names for the resource-rich Spratlys, the Paracels and the Macclesfield Bank islands group in the South China Sea, seen as vital for international trade and shipping.

The South China Sea islands are also claimed by some of the countries neighboring China including Vietnam and the Philippines, which are members of the 10-nation Association of South East Asian Nations. The ASEAN foreign ministers' failure this month to come up even with a joint communique on the Sea issue, was reported to be a result of pressure from China, which wants resolution of the issue through bilateral consultations and not a multinational forum such as the ASEAN.

The New York Times said the new Sansha deputies would govern the island groups as well as 2 million square kilometers of the South China Sea over which China claims jurisdiction.

In Hanoi during the weekend, Vietnamese demonstrated against the Chinese claims of sovereignty in the South China Sea, shouting "the Spratly and Paracel Islands belong to Vietnam!" and "Down with Chinese aggression!," Britain's Guardian reported.

The Philippines' GMA News reported the latest Chinese announcements are part of a series of recent actions that have expanded China's physical presence in the vast disputed waters and defied condemnation around the region. The report said the Philippine government already has lodged a diplomatic protest against China's establishment of Sansha City, saying it infringes on Philippine sovereign rights over the waters and continental shelf of the West Philippine Sea.

Heitkamp on health care: Focus should be on incentives, not mandates (with video)

FARGO Democrat Heidi Heitkamp said Monday that Congress ought to be discussing ways to reduce health care costs while emphasizing personal wellness, instead of continuing to politicize controversial reforms.

In her first visit with The Forum Editorial Board since launching her Senate bid last fall, Heitkamp clarified her position on the 2010 law now commonly called Obamacare and she railed against the demagoguery of critics who seek to repeal it while offering few solutions.

You really need to have people instead of pointing fingers and using health care as a political football you need to have them sit down at a table and start talking about what the real costs are and how you solve it, Heitkamp said.

Health care reform has been one of the most dominant issues in North Dakotas U.S. Senate race, offering a clear contrast between Heitkamp and Republican Rep. Rick Berg.

Berg adamantly favors repealing the controversial law, and his campaign has relentlessly attacked Heitkamp for her evolving support of it.

After Congress passed the health care law in spring 2010, Heitkamp headlined rallies in which she praised the law. She called the bill a legacy vote and urged supporters of the law to be vigilant against efforts to repeal it.

Two years later, Heitkamp said this spring for the first time publicly that shes often said that its not a perfect law.

Heitkamp expanded on those statements Monday, detailing areas she said the law fell short or was altogether flawed.

Ive never liked the mandate in part because of where it came from, Heitkamp said, referring to the mandates origins as a proposal offered by a Republican think tank in the mid-1990s.

It presupposes people dont buy health insurance because they dont want to, Heitkamp said. People dont buy health insurance because they cant afford it.

Getting a final health care plan down on paper

Claire Lippert is as prepared for death as she can be.

A health care proxy details who can make medical decisions for her if she becomes incapacitated.

A living will makes her wishes known about such life-sustaining treatments as ventilators and feeding tubes in case she is unable to speak for herself.

A "do not resuscitate" order to discourage an attempt to revive her if her heart or breathing stops is stuck to her refrigerator door.

Recently, a MOLST form lay on her kitchen table. In greater detail, the Medical Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment translates Lippert's preferences into physician orders that will transfer with her to all health-care settings.

"I'm planning to go to sleep one night and not wake up, but I know it doesn't always happen that way," she said. "What I don't want is to be hooked up to machines."

What constitutes a good death? Nearly 90 percent of people would prefer to die in their homes, free of pain and surrounded by family and loved ones, according to a poll cited by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.

Studies suggest the same thing. Researchers this month, for instance, in the Archives of Internal Medicine reported on a multicenter examination of hundreds of advanced cancer patients.

They concluded that patients who avoid hospitalizations and the intensive-care unit; who are less worried; who pray or meditate; and who feel they have a shared treatment goal with their physician experienced a higher quality of life in their final days than people who died in a hospital or received aggressive, life-prolonging measures.

More individuals like Lippert are turning to advance directives to make sure their wishes are respected, especially regarding often futile aggressive measures to keep them alive.

VHA Commends White House Effort to Promote Economic and Environmental Benefits to "Green" Hospitals

IRVING, TX--(Marketwire -07/24/12)- VHA Inc., the national health care network, commends the President's White House Council on Environmental Quality for bringing together a distinguished list of panelists to publically discuss "Greening America's Hospitals." Today's program, to be held at the White House from 9 a.m. - noon (EDT), will be streamed live at: http://www.whitehouse.gov/live. Two VHA members are among the speakers: Jeffrey Thompson, MD, CEO at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse, Wis. and John Messervy, AIA, director of capital & facility planning at Partners HealthCare in Boston. Dr. Thompson is included on the first panel, "Fostering a Culture of Environmental Sustainability." Messervy is participating on the second panel, "Transforming the Health Care Supply Chain."

VHA recognizes that the health care industry is challenged daily to provide quality patient care while also protecting the safety of both the patient and health care employees. In recent years, sustainability has gained attention as an additional factor to be considered when weighing these issues.

Along with advocating for safer communities, VHA recognizes that sustainability efforts are a path to helping hospitals significantly reduce costs. Indeed, VHA hospitals that have embraced sustainability as a business imperative are realizing substantial savings in their operations, often by making simple changes such as reducing waste and energy usage. To better measure and report economic, environmental and social performance, VHA has adopted and is utilizing the Global Reporting Initiative standards or GRI. In addition, VHA is an organizational stakeholder in the GRI network -- a large multi-disciplined group made up of global business, civil society, labor, academic and professional institutions that have pledged to create a standardized framework for measuring and reporting performance in the area of sustainability.

Several sustainability milestones achieved with Novation, VHA's supply contracting company, include:

About VHA Inc.

In discussions of America's high health care costs, surprisingly little attention is paid to salaries and wages. Yet the fact that medical jobs simply pay more than those in other sectors is beyond dispute. A physician practicing in a primary care setting, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, earned an average of just over $200,000 in 2010, while specialists averaged over $355,000 (the highest of any professional category tracked). By comparison, lawyers average just over $110,000, airline pilots about $92,000, and chartered actuaries (who calculate risk for insurance companies and must pass complex exams longer and arguably more difficult than the medical boards) about $150,000.

The wage disparities, however, don't stop with physicians, who do, after all, need to complete an academic curriculum that's beyond most people's abilities. Registered nurses and dental hygienists, who need only associate's degrees, earn about $70,000 a year. This is about as much as degreed computer programmers. And it's significantly more than high school teachers and forensic scientists, who need master's degrees but earn a little less than $60,000 on average. And wage disparities exist at all levels of the health care industry: Even nonmedical professionals like janitors tend to earn more in health care settings than those working elsewhere. An extensive report from the Brookings Institution sums up the evidence: "Health care pays higher than average wages regardless of workers' skills and demographic characteristics." Indeed, the report goes on, "expanding health care is likely to raise wages throughout a metropolitan area by putting upward pressure on wages throughout the metropolitan labor market," even for jobs requiring no post-high school training at all.

There's no way around it: Wages drive high medical costs much more than any other factor. Between 2005 and 2011, as overall average wages barely kept pace with inflation (with rising health costs making real take-home pay flat for many workers), average medical wages grew a healthy 18 percent, rising from just over $62,000 to almost $73,000. The American Hospital Association estimates that two-thirds of all medical costs are attributable to wages and benefits.

Not only are the wages high but medical jobs have the kind of security few other professions can match. Total employment in the medical/education "super-sector" has never declined in the more than 40 years that the Bureau of Labor Statistics has tracked it, using current methodologies. Between 2008 and 2010, as the country sustained the deepest job losses since the Great Depression, the number of health care practitioners and support personnel increased by almost 400,000, even as the economy overall shed more than 7 million jobs. Doctors' unemployment rate has never exceeded 2 percent.

Unfortunately, all this expense is not producing significantly better health care outcomes. While the United States undoubtedly leads the world in medical innovations and cutting edge care for uncommon conditions, gross measures of health care outcomes like life expectancy and infant mortality (which, it's true, are heavily influenced by lifestyle, demographic, cultural, and genetic factors independent of the medical system) are below average for wealthy countries. By some measures, American health care practitioners work less hard than their peers in other countries. While other wealthy countries average just a little over three hospital staff per hospital bed, American hospitals have more than five people for each bed. The U.S. health care system may not be worse than those elsewhere it does draw people from all over the world but there's no evidence the enormous labor costs are producing world-beating outcomes.

While American hospitals do generally have higher capital expenses than those elsewhere in the world in terms of high-tech diagnostics and creature comforts like private rooms for patients, many costs paid by all hospitals everywhere rents, taxes, energy, food service are more affordable in the United States than in other rich nations.

Gene therapy nears approval in Europe

July 23, 2012

- UniQure chief executive officer Jorn Aldag

Gene therapies alter a patient's DNA to treat inherited diseases passed from parent to child.

The European Medicines Agency has recommended a therapy for a rare genetic disease which leaves people unable to properly digest fats.

The European Commission will now make the final decision.

The idea of gene therapy is simple: if there is a problem with part of a patient's genetic code then replace that part of the code.

Freedom Get Late Comeback Win over Lake Erie

July 23, 2012 - Frontier League (FL) Florence Freedom Florence, KY-The Florence Freedom rallied for an enormous 10-9 victory over the Lake Erie Crushers Monday afternoon on "super splash day" at the Home of the Florence Freedom.

Drew Rundle's three run homerun in the 7th gave the Freedom a late inning lead that they never relinquished. Rundle's homer came with the Freedom trailing 8-6, as they also got a clutch performance from Pierre LePage, who came in as a defensive replacement for Peter Fatse. LePage went 3-4 with 3 RBI including an RBI single in the 8th which gave the Freedom a 10-8 lead. That RBI proved to be pivotal because Andrew Davis of Lake Erie launched a 9th inning homer over the right field wall against Brennan Flick to cut the lead to 10-9. Flick stayed composed on the mound though to retire the final two batters and notch his second save in as many nights.

Lake Erie built a 7-2 lead after the first two innings against Freedom starter Scott Moviel. The Crushers took advantage of Moviel's wildness, as he walked 6 batters in 1.2 innings on the hill. The Freedom chipped away at the Crushers lead in the 4th inning. Kyle Bluestein made his professional debut and got his first pro hit on an RBI single in the inning. Edwin Padua followed with an RBI hit as well, and then LePage lined a two run single to cut the Crushers lead to 7-6.

Sean Gregory was a part of a bullpen that pitched the final 7.1 innings of the game, only allowing two runs. Gregory earned the win after throwing 2.1 innings and only giving up 1 hit. Mike Hanley preceded him with 3 solid innings, as Matt Kline and Flick also contributed in the bullpen heroics.

The Freedom will go for the series sweep against Lake Erie Tuesday night. LHP Paul Fagan(6-3, 2.76) will start for the Crushers while LHP Brent Choban will make his professional debut for the Freedom. Tuesday's game can be heard with Steve Jarnicki starting at 6:50 pm on Real Talk 1160 and realtalk1160.com.

HUGE swells are washing away trees, fences and exposing foundations and protective rock walls at some of the Gold Coast's most popular beaches.

Swells reaching more than 4m have eroded the Gold Coast's coastline and forced the closure of many beaches, the Gold Coast Bulletin reported.

Beaches are closed today from Elkhorn Avenue north of Surfers Paradise to the Sheraton - including Main Beach, Breaker Street and Narrowneck - and south of Surfers Paradise at Clifford Street, Broadbeach (Margaret Avenue) and Nobbys Beach.

The closed beaches are not expected to open at all today. Meanwhile, walking between Miami and Broadbeach and between Surfers and Main Beach is also not recommended this morning on the incoming tide due to erosion in some areas.

Surfers Paradise beach will remain open today, as well as Northcliffe, Kurrawa, Mermaid Beach and the beaches from Miami south.

A GCCC spokesman said beaches at Nobby Beach, Broadbeach (at Margaret Avenue) and Narrowneck were closed from 6am yesterday to ensure public safety, especially as children frequent the areas.

"We want to ensure community safety so there will be maintenance reprofiling to restore the beaches," he said.

"The message is, these scarps are not cubby houses for young kids and for them to stay away."

Southern Stars and MacTech Magazine Take You Into Space With SkyCube

SAN FRANCISCO and WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif., July 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Southern Stars, the leading provider of mobile applications for amateur astronomy, and MacTech Magazine, the journal for Apple technologies, jointly announced the world's first personal, interactive satellite mission today. SkyCube will allow everyone, all over the world, to participate in its launch, "tweet" messages, and obtain pictures of the earth from space. MacTech is the project's first corporate sponsor.

"We want to create a space exploration experience that everyone can be a part of," states Tim DeBenedictis, Southern Stars Founder. "We are developing a nano-satellite, and mobile apps to go with it, as the focus for a global education and public outreach campaign." The satellite is a 10x10x10 cm '1U' CubeSat intended for launch as a secondary payload on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket in 2013. Orbiting more than 300 miles up, on a path highly inclined to the earth's equator, SkyCube will pass over most of the world's inhabited regions.

SkyCube will take low-resolution pictures of the earth and broadcast simple messages uploaded by sponsors. After 90 days, it will inflate a 10-foot (3-meter) diameter balloon. SkyCube's balloon will make the satellite as bright as the Hubble Space Telescope or a first-magnitude star. "You'll be able to see it with your own eyes, sailing across the sky," explains DeBenedictis. But SkyCube's balloon isn't just for visibility. It will - within 3 weeks - bring SkyCube down from orbit due to atmospheric drag, ending the mission cleanly in a fiery "grand finale" that avoids any buildup of space debris.

SkyCube will also send out a data pings every ten seconds. This will allow subscribers to broadcast messages or "tweet from space." Each message is 120 characters in length. "You will be able tweet your wife from space to let her know you will be late for dinner," jokes DeBenedictis.

"What attracted MacTech to support SkyCube was the prospect that anyone could be involved. MacTech has always been about bringing the community together, and SkyCube demonstrates the best of this," said Neil Ticktin, Editor-in-Chief/Publisher of MacTech Magazine. "At MacTech Conference (October 17-19, 2012 in Los Angeles), we'll be doing some fun stuff around this project and giving the Apple technical community a great opportunity to be a part of history."

The SkyCube project is using Kickstarter to allow millions of people worldwide to be a part of democratized space exploration. For details, go to http://www.skycube.org

The SkyCube mobile app will be available on the iTunes Store, Google Play, and on any web browser. The basic sponsorship to participate in the mission is $1, which will allow the sponsor to tweet one message from space. There are several tiers of sponsorship available with the SkyCube Mission that people can choose from. Packages range from sending messages and getting pictures to viewing the launch live and actually commanding SkyCube for a day in space. Additionally, corporate sponsorships are available that include a logo on the inflatable balloon.

Southern Stars has already pioneered applications for astronomy with its SkySafari apps, and has changed the way people view the night sky. "Apps let people interact in a very personal way with a powerful computer that they have on them all the time," says DeBenedictis. "The concept of picking up a smartphone and getting pictures from space is novel. It isn't the same as watching it on TV or reading about it."

The addition of this new DOF to our existing engine capability portfolio, and our decision to establish an MRO facility in the Asia Pacific region truly adds to Vectors global presence and coverage, explains Vector Aerospace President and CEO, Declan OShea. The development of a Pratt & Whitney Canada PW150A engine overhaul facility in this area creates considerable new opportunities for PW150A engine owners and operators throughout the Asia Pacific region to access our industry-proven services. Vector now has engine maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities, including testing capability throughout North America, Europe, South Africa, as recently announced in 2012 in Australia, and now as early as 2013, in Asia Pacific. The strategic distribution of these customer-focused facilities means we are even closer to our customers, and enables us to focus on minimizing shipping costs and turn-around-times.

Over the course of our relationship, Vector has built a solid reputation for customer service, said Raffaele Virgili, Vice President, Customer Service at Pratt & Whitney Canada. Todays announcement is part of Pratt & Whitney Canadas continuing effort to enhance the support services we offer our engine customers.

With decades of success in supporting Pratt & Whitney Canada operators, both the Vector Aerospace Engine Services-Atlantic and Paris-based SECA, A Vector Aerospace Company, divisions have well-established reputations for meeting and often exceeding customer expectations related to engine performance, cost management, turn-times and warranty support. Brian Thompson, Senior Vice President Commercial, states that his companys focus on customer service and quality will prove to be highly sought after by operators in the competitive Asia Pacific market, and that Vectors establishment of a PW150A overhaul and testing facility in the region will provide operators of Bombardiers highly regarded Dash 8-Q400 series aircraft with a proven MRO alternative, while also assisting Vector in achieving strategic growth and market share expansion.

Vector Aerospace, with engine MRO facilities in Prince Edward Island & British Columbia (Canada), the United Kingdom, Africa and France, is a P&WC Designated Overhaul Facility supporting the following engines: Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A/PT6T /JT15D/ PW100/ PW305 / PW306 / PW307 / PW308.

Vector recently announced that it will add a DOF with full engine overhaul and test capability in Brisbane, Australia in support of the PT6A model engine in mid-2012.
