Nextant Aerospace Set to Receive European Aviation Safety Agency Approval for the 400XT Business Jet

CLEVELAND, Ohio & ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Nextant Aerospace, maker of the 400XT, the worlds only remanufactured business jet, today announced that it will receive full certification by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), which will enable the 400XT to be flown in service throughout Europe. Upon receiving its last supplemental type certificate (STC), which is expected in the next 10 business days, the Nextant 400XT will become the only remanufactured business jet to be certified by both the EASA and the FAA.

Achieving EASA certification will come as the first deliveries of the 400XT are being made to Europe. The second 400XT to be accepted for European registration will soon be delivered to a private buyer in Switzerland and will be managed by TAG Aviation, a leader in private and business aviation aircraft management throughout Europe. To date, 40 percent of all 400XT sales have come from outside of North America, with a substantial portion of those from the Eurozone.

Last year, we announced final FAA certification of the Nextant 400XT in the U.S. Today, we are proud to be closing in on a comparable approval from the European Aviation Safety Agency, which will immediately make the 400XT available for service throughout Europe, said Kenneth C. Ricci, founder and chief executive officer of Nextant Aerospace. The 400XT is truly a business jet for the European traveler because of its exceptional range, which enables flights originating in Western Europe to reach major destinations throughout the rest of Europe, Russia and the Middle East. We are confident that this approval will further boost sales in Europe, which already has proven to be one of the strongest markets for the 400XT.

In addition to its price, approximately half that of competing clean-sheet designs, the 400XT has a 2,003 nautical mile (3,709 km) range and a cruising speed of 460 nautical miles per hour (740 km per hour). It supports a remarkable 30 percent reduction in operating costs over the Beechjet 400A/XP on which it is based and fuel efficiency improvements of 20-30 percent, depending on the length of the flight segment. Significantly reduced carbon emissions and noise compliance that exceeds Stage IV requirements also make it ideally suited for European service.

No matter where you go, a universal theme among those interested in purchasing a business jet is the desire for best-in-class range coupled with low operating and ownership costs, added Ricci. The 400XT not only fulfills those criteria with its exceptional performance and operating economics, but it also can be acquired for half the cost of competing models. This recipe is making the 400XT the aircraft of choice for private aviation all over the world.

About Nextant Aerospace

Nextant Aerospace was founded in 2007 for the primary purpose of developing an aircraft modernization program. The company is credited with being the first to introduce the concept of aircraft remanufacturing to the business jet market. The Nextant 400XT is a remanufactured Beechjet 400A/XP equipped with the Williams FJ44-3AP engines and Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 integrated avionics suite. The new aircraft also benefits from significant aerodynamic enhancements including newly designed nacelles, pylons and an improved engine mounting configuration. The 400XT is delivered as a new aircraft with a two-year, full aircraft warranty. Nextants design and manufacturing facility is located in Cleveland, Ohio, at the Cuyahoga County Airport. Zacks #1 Ranked Aerospace & Defense ETF in Focus

Thanks to technological innovations and growing commercial and military demand, the global aerospace and defense industry has held up nicely this year. However there are concerns that the biggest consumer of defense equipment, the U.S. government, might cut their defense spending in the near future, potentially derailing growth in this corner of the market going forward.

This trend is further spread out across the globe in a number of other key markets such as United Kingdom, France, Germany and Spain. However, the investors focus more on the trend in the U.S.-- the dominant player in this market, with nearly half of total military spending in the world, easily outpacing the next five biggest spenders combined (read: Can The Defense ETFs Soar Despite Headwinds?).

The U.S. military is facing possible cuts of $500 billion over the next decade (2012-2021), including $55 billion for 2013, if the Congress fails to find ways to reduce $1.2 trillion of fiscal deficits before the end of December.

In this difficult scenario of tight budgets and cuts to big programs, acquisitions offer big defense companies a way out to bolster their financial positions. Strategic alliances among companies have also been on the rise. The defense operators at times join forces with each other, bring along their individual expertise on the table and work as a cohesive unit for big defense deals.

Additionally, big international orders will also add to the growth of the aerospace and defense companies especially when the U.S. government is taking proactive steps to trim the defense budget. Further, a number of new emerging markets as well as developed nations, such as India, China, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Brazil are boosting defense spending. (read: Get True Emerging Market Exposure With These Three ETFs) Moreover, increasing awareness of cyber threats could open up new markets for the defense majors despite lower demand for big ticket items like jets and tanks.

Considering the broad issues and opportunities, many aerospace and defense companies are holding up steady and, hence, investors could benefit from these positive market trends. A look at some of the top ranked ETFs in the space, with a lower level of risk, could be a good idea (see more ETFs in the Zacks ETF Center).

About the Zacks ETF Rank

A look at top ranked Aerospace & Defense ETFs can be done by using the Zacks ETF Rank. Doug Brandt, Founder of Dayton Barefoot Runners, Shares Thoughts on Barefoot Running. – Video

Doug Brandt, Founder of Dayton Barefoot Runners, Shares Thoughts on Barefoot Running.
While Doug ran for fun growing up and even ditched his shoes on occasion, his real passion was chemistry, starting in grade school and continuing though high school and college. It was over 20 years after obtaining his Ph.D. in biochemistry, however, that he again took up shod running as a form of regular exercise. Within 2 years his knees were feeling the pain from improper gait and he was lead to barefoot running as a solution. Now, nearly 7 years into running with foot bare, Doug, aka Dayton Barefoot Runner, enjoys helping others learn how to run with better form. He founded the Dayton Barefoot Runners in 2011 to assist in this effort. In turn, the DBRs support a yearly run to benefit research to understand and cure Multiple Systems Atrophy. If you are ever around the Dayton bike paths or trails you might see Doug running. He generally is not training for a race, he just enjoys running, putting bare sole to pavement, and feeling the pleasure of his Creator. I hope you all enjoy watching this discussion as much as I did having it. You all wouldn #39;t fit into our living room, so this will have to do. You can learn more by liking Doug #39;s running page at Facebook.com/DaytonBarefootRunner and joining in on the discussions at Facebook.com/groups/DaytonBarefootRunners Dayton Barefoot Runners, where minimalist runners try to help each other improve. Coast to Coast AM - Sept 09 2012 - Psychology of Sound C2CAM
Date: 09-09-12 Host: Ian Punnett Guests: Seth Horowitz, Rupert Sheldrake Everyday we #39;re surrounded by millions of sounds - ambient ones like the hum of the air conditioner, as well as more attention-grabbing sounds, such as human speech. Neuroscientist and musician Seth Horowitz joined Ian Punnett (Twitter) to discuss how sound affects us, and in turn, how we #39;ve learned to manipulate sound to alter the way we think and feel. People can have difficulty acclimating to the sounds of city or the country, depending on where they #39;re from, he detailed. If a city person goes to the country, the quiet can be disturbing because the lack of sound can seem like a warning that something is wrong, while the reverse is true for the country person going to the city. He also revealed that each city has its own unique band of sound around it, based on various factors. Horowitz speculated on sound weapons of the future. One device that is already in use is the LRAD (Long Range Acoustic Device)-- "it #39;s an extraordinarily powerful amplifier pumping out a tone that #39;s right in the middle of most normal human hearing range but it #39;s so powerful that if you #39;re within 10-20 ft. of it for more than 10-20 seconds, you #39;re in trouble-- you will lose your hearing. It will drive people away from up to 50-100 ft. away no problem," he said. Explaining why people find particular sounds disturbing such as fingernails on a blackboard, he noted that such sounds are "pseudo-periodic," with random variations ...From:C2CPlanetViews:48 1ratingsTime:02:38:01More inEducation

Researchers can now predict who will lose weight and who wont A recent study was presented at the annual American Diabetes Association conference that anyone trying to lose weight needs to hear. Researchers told the audience that they were able to predict which participants would lose weight, and which wouldnt, during a low calorie diet. How were they able to do thisb Researchers simply tested participants blood prior to the study. By looking at basic blood chemistry markers, researchers could predict which subjects would be destined to fail during the low calorie diet. Even worse, they knew who would regain their weight after the diet was over.
