Balancing Spirituality and Prosperity in Sanatana Dharma – Video

Balancing Spirituality and Prosperity in Sanatana Dharma
Too many people hold the misconception that Vedic spirituality is too "other-worldly" to be of practical value in today #39;s world, and that one must chose to have either a life of spirituality or a life of prosperity. One or the other...but not both! This is, however, no more than an uninformed stereotype about Vedic spirituality. Sanatana Dharma is clear that we can - and must - have a balanced and whole life in which we have the ability to attain both spiritual and material benefit. As the incomparable Dharma Master, Sri Dharma Pravartaka Acharya, demonstrates in this powerful video, Vedic spirituality is the most practical, scientific, reasonable and prosperous worldview on Earth. It provides us with the proper perspective through which we can have it all!From:DharmaNationViews:14 0ratingsTime:09:29More inNonprofits Activism

Rene Jorgensen -- web site http://www.renejorgensen.com Presented at the IANDS 2010 Conference, Sept. 2-4, in Denver, CO Abstract: I will present the results of my study of 16 NDEs investigating the parallels to religion/spirituality. Through a high average score of 21 (Greyson Scale) and a 15-page long questionnaire, the depth of the study suggests a universal core element that can help the NDEr understand and integrate the experience. Spirit of India, a confluence of music, spirituality

Tirupati, Nov 23 (UNI)

Renowned Scholar Sadguru Sri K Sivandana Murthy today said with combination of spirituality and music, India attained holiness which cannot be witnessed or experienced elsewhere in the world.

The philosopher and humanist who graced the inaugural ceremony as chief guest for the five-day 'Yuvalayam'-South Indian Youth Music Festival' jointly organised by TTD's Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad (HDPP), SV College of Music and Dance and Andhra Music Academy at Mahati Kalakshetram here, said, 'Spituality is the backbone of India. Music is the quintessence of spirituality', he maintained. He called upon the students hailing from four southern Indian states, who were taking part in this musical fete, to dedicate themselves to learning Carnatic music with emotional bent of mind.

'This is the first time in the country that all the four states of South India are coming together to perfrom on a single platform.

'I ask you all to make use of this rare opportunity. Mere learning music and performing it on the stage for the sake of livelihood or entertainment is not the essence of great Indian carnatic music.

'You should able to pick up the emotional essence behind each kriti with which it was penned by the Vaggeyakaras.

'Music is considered to be the 'Vehicle of Moksha'(salvation) by Vaggeyakaras.

'So dedicate youselves to learning the divine music with utmost devotion, dedication and discipline,' he said.

Ang Lee talks about risks, spirituality of "Life of Pi"

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Gay cowboy drama "Brokeback Mountain" may have been considered a risky film to make, but director Ang Lee said his new movie, "Life of Pi," a 3D exploration of faith about a boy stranded on a boat with a Bengal tiger, is his riskiest yet.

The film, which was released in U.S. theaters this week, is adapted from Yann Martel's best-selling novel of the same name and was once considered impossible to make.

Oscar-winning Taiwanese director Lee, 58, took on the laborious task of using computer-generated imagery to bring the sensational plot to the big screen, taking a year and a half just to edit the film together.

The director talked to Reuters about the film's themes, technical barriers and casting an unknown actor in the lead.

Q. Why was "Life of Pi" considered unfilmable?

A. "Because you cannot make the tiger do everything you want to do, you have to use digital. A digital animal, up until two years ago, was not totally realistic yet, let alone in 3D, and then water is pretty difficult."

Q. Was this your most difficult filming experience yet?

A. "Oh yes. And it was also the longest...there was the technical difficulty and then it is a big movie. And it was across continents, I finally decided to shoot most of it in Taiwan, but we also had to go to India to shoot for two to three weeks. Because you can't fake Pondicherry, and Munnar. And then we have scenes in Canada."

Q. But Brokeback Mountain was a risky film too?

A. "No, that wasn't for me. At least when I made it, I thought it was strictly arthouse and few people would see it. And it's a lot cheaper (to make). So I didn't care...And then I got nervous, 'Oh they are going to lynch me, making a gay cowboy movie, that will go into a shopping mall.'"

Book Review: The Power of the New Spirituality by William Bloom

Analyzing the changing spiritual landscape of America is a favorite recent media sport, though much of the commentary is either despairing or disparaging. A 2012 Pew Forum Research study revealed that 19.6% of Americans identify as "spiritual, but not religious." This news was broadcast with varying degrees of alarm and scorn, but to a significant portion of the population it was a welcome validation of their personal values.

I am the first to admit there is much to be criticized in the realm of New Age/Pop Mysticism. I have friends who experience the same spiritual "breakthrough" every year or two with no discernible improvement in their life circumstances or their degree of personal satisfaction. Nonetheless, I remain optimistic that this philosophical chaos is a temporary and necessary phase in our spiritual development as a nation.

The Power of the New Spirituality by William Bloom helps the average person to assess and engage in spiritual endeavors without being sidetracked by feel-good but spiritually empty schemes. In the book he provides a framework for those who wish to formulate an authentic and meaningful spirituality outside of traditional Judeo-Christian structures.

Bloom is careful to distinguish between self-centered pseudo-spiritualism and genuine spiritual development. This is an important distinction, given that the harshest criticism of New Age spirituality is its tendency toward narcissism. He discourages readers from expecting spirituality to help them achieve perfect happiness or material wealth. In addition, he does not let practitioners of new spiritual movements off the hook for moral and ethical grounding. He states, "The outcomes or expressions of spirituality are surely compassion and enlightenment, love and consciousness, dedicated to all. This is precisely why the new spirituality must be as explicit and clear as the traditional faiths about its ethics."

The Power of the New Spirituality is a practical correlate to a book I reviewed by the same publisher: Faith Beyond Belief by Margaret Placentra Johnston. Bloom and Johnston share the perspective that a person's moral center does not deteriorate in the absence of traditional religious structures, particularly if they are in what Johnston refers to as the Mystic stage in Faith Beyond Belief. This is a person, who having experienced what there is to be found in traditional spirituality and initially rejecting it (often in favor of strict rationalism) returns to a deeper relationship to faith that, while often very different from their previous religious experience, is stronger due to being internally motivated.

According to Bloom, genuine curiosity is integral to the new spirituality. It is the responsibility of each of us to participate to the greatest extent of our ability, "In the new spirituality this specialist metaphysical work is no longer the preserve of a few ordained men and women, but can be practiced by all of us." In this way, the non-hierarchical structure of new spiritual movements is both a freedom and a responsibility.

Bloom includes a number of practical exercises in the text. They were not necessarily unique to this book. So, I found that I skimmed over many of them. For a reader who is unfamiliar with the approaches that Bloom is referencing, it would be worthwhile to spend some time with them. Appendix A, "Spiritual Companion's Guidelines," was a very useful tool as well. In it he provides a summary of many of the key points in the book and provides a streamlined linear view of his core principles.

The release of The Power of the New Spirituality may be a sign that we are now ready to introduce some analytical awareness into the whirling stream of New Age spirituality. I see this as a positive sign in that it will allows us to build meaningful and relevant new spiritual structures that can sustain us through the next millennium.

Raw Living Foods Transformed my Physique – Video

Raw Living Foods Transformed my Physique
I now eat a Raw Living Paleo diet. I have been a bodybuilder for the past 15 years but only recently did I switch to a Health lifestyle instead, which means I no longer care about how much muscle mass I have any more. Health is my hobby now in replace of bodybuilding. The reason why I am focused on health instead is because I am more interested now in Spiritual Enlightenment through the art of Zen. While I was a bodybuilder I looked fatter and unhealthy. Once I started to eat healthy my entire body went through a transition. Here is a side-by-side comparison picture over the years: http://www.zengurupaul.com My transition to spiritual enlightenment started November 1st of 2011, so my "Health" lifestyle is now a little over a year old and I absolutely love my new lifestyle (over bodybuilding). I have learned so much about health and hopefully I will be able to share this passion with you along with tips so you can be healthier and HAPPIER too!
