How to make a platform game in flash 8 part 12 (adding enemies)
This is part 12 of the PLATFORM GAME DEVELOPMENT TUTORIAL which teaches you how to make a 2D platform game ( also called side scrolling game) in flash 8 , flash cs4, flash cs5 or flash cs6. All the codes for the game are written by using a programming language ActionScript 2 ( AS2 ). In this Video you will learn the basics of artificial intelligence in AS2. You will learn how to add enemies into your platform game! The enemy can be killed by my making the character to jump on top of it. One of the most popular genres of video game is the platform game, which also poses some very interesting programming and design challenges. From a programming point of view, if you can program a platform game then you are a good programmer Code for the character: onClipEvent (load) { var ground:MovieClip = _root.ground; var grav:Number = 0; var gravity:Number = 2; var speed:Number = 7; var maxJump:Number = -12; var touchingGround:Boolean = false; } onClipEvent (enterFrame) { _y += grav; grav += gravity; while (ground.hitTest(_x, _y, true)) { _y -= gravity; grav = 0; } if (ground.hitTest(_x, _y+5, true)) { touchingGround = true; } else { touchingGround = false; } if (Key.isDown(Key.RIGHT)) { _x += speed; } if (Key.isDown(Key.LEFT)) { _x -= speed; } if (Key.isDown(Key.UP) touchingGround) { grav = maxJump; } if (ground.hitTest(_x+(_width/2), _y-(_height/2), true)) { _x -= speed; } if (ground.hitTest(_x-(_width/2), _y-(_height/2), true)) { _x += speed; } if (ground.hitTest(_x, _y-(height ...From:FlashGamez007Views:0 1ratingsTime:04:09More inHowto Style

Digivic Project – Prealpha 1 – Battle Mode – AI vs AI – Video

Digivic Project - Prealpha 1 - Battle Mode - AI vs AI
Digivic Project: Prealpha 1 Battle mode (Game AI vs Game AI) Date: 16-Dec-2012 A little sneak peek of the prealpha of my new strategy game. This is a prototype, the graphics are just abstract and schematics and there is no animation at all. Currently i am focusing on gameplay and game logic. Most "skills" are already implemented, the game logic is at 90% and the artificial intelligence of the game is competitive against human players but is not yet optimized.From:RoyalSantos99Views:5 1ratingsTime:04:07More inGaming

Rocket Launch 2012 UIUC – Video

Rocket Launch 2012 UIUC
As a freshmen in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, we were given the opportunity to take the course AE 100. We built the rocket and assembled the payload, and best of all, we got to launch it 1151m into the air (that #39;s 3776 feet)! A special thanks goes out to all of my teammates, Dr. John Lambros, and Central Illinois Aerospace for making this all possible! From:Philip BarnettViews:1 0ratingsTime:03:10More inScience Technology

Dr. Reflex – Video

Dr. Reflex
Reflexes play an important role in human physiology and the ways in which the body adapts to different stimuli. Reflexes have been adapted over time to ensure survivability and fitness. In this video, we cover two reflexes that can be commonly associated to college students in the United States. The baroreflex has been adapted physiologically to compensate for the sudden change in blood pressure throughout the body. This response occurs in order for the human body to meet critical metabolic demands and prevents the possible health risks that could occur without this reflex. When the body senses an extreme drop in blood pressure, receptors located in the neck and aorta send signals to increase heart rate and dilate the blood vessels. This increases the blood flow and insures that enough oxygen is carried to various body tissues. In the video, a student experiences a failure in the baroreflex #39;s ability to compensate for the sudden change in blood pressure taking place when the student stands. The fight or flight response is an important process involved in rapidly adjusting to dangerous situations. When the body senses danger, the adrenal gland secretes hormones that can be delivered to the blood and initiate a life-saving response. Some of the ways in which the body responds to these hormones involves the dilation of the pupils, a rise in heart rate, and constriction of blood vessels. As a result, changes taking place in the body are regulated in order to avoid danger. The ...From:DreyerJakeViews:41 6ratingsTime:03:43More inPeople Blogs
