67 WALL STREET, New York - May 29, 2013 - The Wall Street Transcript has just published its Industrial Equipment, Aerospace and Defense Report offering a timely review of the sector to serious investors and industry executives. This special feature contains expert industry commentary through in-depth interviews with public company CEOs and Equity Analysts. The full issue is available by calling (212) 952-7433 or via The Wall Street Transcript Online.
Topics covered: Commercial Aviation and Energy Expenditures - Industrial Restructuring - Emerging Markets Penetration - Heightened M&A Activity - Defense Budget Uncertainty - Capital Equipment Technology Investing
Companies include: Boeing Co. (BA), Rockwell Automation Inc. (ROK), ABB Ltd. (ABB), Emerson Electric Co. (EMR), General Electric Co. (GE), Caterpillar Inc. (CAT), SPX Corporation (SPW) and many more.
In the following excerpt from the Industrial Equipment, Aerospace and Defense Report, an expert analyst discusses the outlook for the sector for investors:
TWST: So which verticals and geographies are you especially positive on right now?
Mr. Langenberg: Our macro outlook will be similar to others; where we differ is in how to play it. In the growing now bucket, U.S. residential is recovering nicely. We are seeing growth in the 10%, 15%, even 20% range, driven by refurbishing and higher new starts. This is the easiest growth you can find, because it is really recovering off a low base.
Homebuilding doesn't need to recover to 2 million units for an investor to win; going from 500,000 to 700,000 and then 1 million units is walking a worn path. We do not formally track those names, but it supports the entire HVAC/construction complex, construction equipment, and power transmission and distribution. We really like this theme, but also seek to find higher-return/lower-risk ways to express our view in the market than simply buying every homebuilder or HVAC-related company. This is a U.S.-centric driver, but since most of our companies are 50% to 60% U.S., it matters.
Globally, we and everybody else likes the commercial aerospace market, given large backlogs at Boeing (BA) and Airbus (EAD.PA) and ramping production schedules. Aftermarket has been weak. While shop visits are fine, in line with global flight hours, the revenue per visit has surprised everybody to the downside as airlines opt to do just enough to get by.
The suppliers are going, "sooner or later you have to upgrade." They are probably right, but then again, if you are waiting on new aircraft, maybe you don't. Since spares and upgrades are the highest margin, this is a fly in the ointment, but not enough to dampen our enthusiasm. It is a consensus call really.
Within commercial aerospace, we really like Bombardier (BBD-A.TO) because of the CSeries, which already has commitments on 388 aircraft; 145 firm, first flight coming soon, and initial deliveries in 2014. Global defense spending will also be more resilient...

Missoula, MT (PRWEB) May 29, 2013
Each year, more than 1,000 people die from heat stroke in the United States. Long thought to be the product of dehydration, traditional prevention and treatment of heat related illness has been to drink more water. More recent research by the University of Montana's Center for Work Physiology and Exercise Metabolism (Montana WPEM) has proven that, while proper hydration is important, the key step to preventing heat stroke is to recognize when one is working too hard for the given environment and slowing down or stopping.
One can absolutely suffer and even die from heat stroke even when properly hydrated, said Dr. Brent Ruby, Director of Montana WPEM. Prevention of heat stroke starts with recognizing our own limits while being active in hot environments. Our bodies are sending us signals to slow down and stop; we just have to know when to say when.
The first stage of heat related illness is heat cramps with symptoms including painful muscle aches. The next stage is heat exhaustion with symptoms such as headache, nausea, dizziness, weakness, irritability, thirst and heavy sweating. Without taking steps to cool down, heat exhaustion can quickly progress to heat stroke when the body becomes overwhelmed by heat and is unable to regulate its core temperature. Symptoms of heat stroke include, sweating stops and the victim may become confused, lose consciousness, and have seizures. Heat stroke is a medical emergency that may result in death.
In cases of HRI (heat related illness) that are developed during exertional heat stress, the individual is working too hard for the environment they are in and likely thinks -- if I can stay hydrated, I will be fine, explained Ruby. But, thats the wrong thinking. Even aggressive hydration strategies that attempt to match fluid loss one-to-one will not prevent the HRI. Knowing when to stop is the crucial step in prevention of heat stroke.
Dr. Brent Ruby, Ph.D., FACSM is Director of the Montana Center for Work Physiology and Exercise Metabolism (Montana WPEM) at the University of Montana and a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). Dr. Rubys research interests include nutritional strategies during ultra-endurance work/competition, muscle metabolism during and after exercise, the use of stable isotope tracers for the measure of water turnover and energy expenditure, and issues surrounding heat stress during arduous work. Differentiating Montana WPEM from other labs, Ruby created a solar powered, mobile lab that allows controlled laboratory research to be meshed with raw field data to draw scientific conclusions.

Event celebrates Older Americans Month
PORTSMOUTH The Mark Wentworth Home aims to raise awareness and appreciation for the elderly on Friday.
The home is honoring those over the age of 65 by hosting a Longevity Party, a culmination of events held there recognizing May as Older Americans Month. The event will last from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
President John F. Kennedy originally deemed May 1963 as Senior Citizens Month during a meeting with the National Council of Senior Citizens to pay tribute to the nation's elderly.
President Jimmy Carter changed the title of Senior Citizens Month to Older Americans Month in 1980. In his proclamation, Carter said May should be a time to celebrate those above age 65 through public recognition, ceremonies and other events.
This year's Older Americans Month theme is "Unleash the Power of Age!" The theme is intended to remind communities that older Americans are still crucial members of society who can share years of wisdom, honed talents and colorful experiences.
The idea for the Longevity Party at the Mark Wentworth Home also stems from the Leading Age Organization, an activist group that advocates raising awareness for the aging citizens of communities with members of Congress.
Mayor Eric Spear will attend Friday's event and deliver a statement honoring the home's numerous residents between the ages of 70 and 100. A representative of Sen. Jeanne Shaheen's office will also be present.
The event will feature the 100th birthday of Mark Wentworth Home resident Carlotta Simcock. Simcock's favorite pastimes include ballroom dancing with her husband and a hearty game of bridge. Her daughter, Janet Taylor, lives in Portsmouth.
Those interested in attending Friday's event are asked to register by calling 436-0169.

Wentworth Home to host longevity party for elderly

TORONTO -- The two-game set in Toronto on Monday and Tuesday was a homecoming for outfielder Reed Johnson.
The 11-year veteran spent his first five seasons in Toronto and was in the Blue Jays' organization for nine years total.
"It's good," said Johnson of being back at Rogers Centre. "I feel like coming back here in 2008, same year I got released with the Chicago Cubs, I got a pretty good reception then. It kind of lets you know how the fans really felt about you.
"I think any player will tell you that the organization they break in with and get an opportunity with is always going to special to them. If I don't break in here, I don't get that opportunity, and who knows what I'd be doing."
Johnson is now with his fourth team after joining the Braves in the middle of 2012 in a trade from the Cubs, and he re-signed with Atlanta for the 2013 season.
The scrappy veteran has seen more than 3,300 at-bats in the Majors, and he admits that there's a secret to his longevity.
"Just grinding every day," Johnson said. "Proving to teams that you can play on both sides of the ball, I think that's what's really helped me out. The years where you don't have great offensive years, you're going out there and helping your team out on defense."
Johnson has found himself in more than half of Atlanta's games so far this season, and he credits his workman-like attitude to finding a way to contribute on both sides of the ball.
"It's just kind of how I've always been," Johnson said. "From Little League to high school to college, it's always been the same for me. ... I really only know one speed, and that's the only way I can do it.

THE Davao Adventist Hospital is now offering services for autologous stem cell therapy.
Marketing officer Kim Endrei Go said the therapy is the first in Davao City and an alternative treatment for degenerative diseases of joints and bones caused by sports injuries and chronic pains.
Go said the treatment allows the patient to continue the normal routine even after the treatment. He said the therapy is non-surgical and has a healing period of only three days.
The modalities in extracting stem cells in the therapy are either through the Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and through Bone Marrow Aspiration Concentrate.
Go said autologous means that the stem cells will be extracted from the patient himself and will be regenerated through an equipment.
The hospital uses the Harvest technologies from the United States which introduced the SmartPrePtm2.
SmartPrePtm2 is used to redefine platelet concentrate systems. Its latest innovation will further expand and enhance the use of autologous bioactive proteins as well as help optimize the condition for healing.
Go said that the therapy session depends on the severeness of the patient's condition. He added that most patients had 3 sessions but some had once or twice.
He said the technology was first practice in their Cebu branch and is now adopted for Davao. He said that in Cebu there about almost 90 treatments since November last where it was launched.
Each session costs P80,000 where about 60 cc of platelet and stem cells will be collected from the patient.
