Swedish aerospace delegation heading for NASA Ames

On June 6th, the Swedish National Day, a Swedish delegation leaves Stockholm for a visit to NASA Ames in San Francisco. The group, including Swedish astronaut Christer Fuglesang, is made up of 14 representatives from the Swedish business, academia and entrepreneurial communities. Cecilia Hertz, CEO of Umbilical Design, is the leader of the delegation.

The Swedish delegation was invited by NASA to meet with experts in such fields as artificial intelligence, green building and sustainable cities. The purpose of the visit is to initiate a cooperation with the aim to identify sustainable solutions for space technology that also have applications on earth. The delegation will visit NASA's new complex, Sustainability Base, to see how the technology used could be applied in Sweden.

"The visit to NASA is part of our ambition to create a technology exchange between the U.S. and Sweden. Commercializing new technology is something the U.S. excels at, and I hope we can learn something from you when it comes to increasing the speed in bringing new ideas to market," says Cecilia Hertz.

Joining the visit to NASA on June 10-11 are representatives from the Swedish-American Chamber of Commerce in Arizona, Skanska, the Swedish Travel and Tourism Industry Federation and The Confederation of Swedish Enterprise, among others. At NASA Ames the group will meet with experts in different areas to combine competencies within sustainability, business development, design and space technology.

"Technology developed for space serves as a driving force in developing sustainable solutions for earth. Space technology transfer is a potential growth engine for Sweden and an innovative force for Swedish industry. My goal is that within five years Sweden will be the primary European node for developments in space technology and sustainable solutions. The Swedish visit to NASA is an important step forward towards strengthening Sweden's position in this field," says Cecilia Hertz.

An important project that will be presented at the NASA visit is the project Down to Earth. Down to Earth, a project initiated by Umbilical Design, is an international collaboration between universities, industry and space agencies to commercialize space technologies for global sustainable development.

The UN World Tourism Organization (WTO), together with the Swedish Travel and Tourism Industry Federation (RTS), here represented by RTS President Mr. Jan Lundin, have together with Umbilical Design started the new initiative Down to Earth for Tourism. This important initiative will also be presented during the NASA visit.

AIAA Endorses California Assembly’s Aerospace Tax Credit Act

RESTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) endorses California State Assembly Bill 927, the Aerospace Tax Credit Act. The bill, sponsored by Assemblyman Al Muratsuchi (Dem. 66th Dist.) would give tax credits to firms that show a net increase in their aerospace sector workforce.

AIAA President Mike Griffin stated: California Assembly Bill 927, the Aerospace Tax Credit Act, is a critical piece of legislation that will ensure that Californias aerospace sector will remain vibrant and strong. The tax credits that the bill extends to aerospace employers in California will encourage those firms to continue to hire employees who will continue to add to the worldwide reputation of California aerospace. Additionally, we applaud the bills efforts to encourage employers to hire those men and women who have served our nation in our recent conflicts, and we especially applaud the bills emphasis on hiring veterans who have incurred life-changing injuries and disabilities in the service of our nation. The California aerospace sector is one of the main pillars of both Californias and our nations economy, and passage of Assembly Bill 927 will ensure that that pillar is a strong one for years to come.

Under the bills provisions, beginning in 2014 an aerospace firm operating in California would receive a $3,000 tax credit for every net full-time qualified employee hired during the calendar year. The bill also incentivizes the hiring of veterans, increasing the tax credit to $4,000 for every veteran hired, and to $5,000 for every veteran hired with a service-connected disability. To qualify for the credits, a firm must be actively engaged in aerospace including manufacturing, testing, renovating, or converting aircraft or spacecraft, or their control systems or individual parts.

AIAA is the worlds largest technical society dedicated to the global aerospace profession. With more than 35,000 individual members worldwide, and 100 corporate members, AIAA brings together industry, academia, and government to advance engineering and science in aviation, space, and defense. Sarasota's Dr .Guy DaSilva Introduces Cutting-Edge Stem Cell Therapy For Degenerative Diseases

Sarasota, Florida (PRWEB) June 03, 2013

Guy DaSilva, MD, ABAARM, will begin conducting clinical trials for many degenerative diseases using adipose-derived stem cell therapy at the DaSilva Institute in Sarasota, Florida. The independent review board of the International Stem Cell Society will oversee the trials.

Following the FDA-approved protocols, Dr. DaSilva will treat patients suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), Type 2 Diabetes, osteoarthritis, critical limb ischemia and erectile dysfunction. Furthermore, Alzheimers disease, dementia and Parkinsons disease are pending approval, and approximately five new protocols are added each month.

While stem cell therapy is most often associated with the controversial use of embryonic stem cells, Dr. DaSilva will be exclusively using adult autologous stem cells, harvested from the patients own adipose (fat) tissue or bone marrow if fat is not available. Because patients are receiving their own cells, there is no risk of rejection, and success rates are far greater compared to the more contentious therapies.

Autologous stem cell therapy works by mimicking the bodys natural healing process, but at a more potent, concentrated level. Stem cells, which are unspecialized cells with the potential to develop into any cell, are stored throughout the body. When disease or injury strikes, the body sends these cells to the area in need, and they begin repairing and replacing damaged tissue. Stem cell function decreases with age, along with ones ability to heal. But with autologous stem cell therapy, the body is once again empowered to heal and reverse disease, and with much greater magnitude.

Dr. DaSilva trained under scientist Kristin Comella, Chief Science Officer of Bioheart, CEO of Stemlogix, Chief Scientific Officer of the Ageless Regenerative Institute, and was recently named one of the 50 most influential people on stem cells. Dr. DaSilva will implement Comellas patented extraction process to precisely isolate and remove stem cells from fat tissue, allowing for an exceptionally high yield and viability.

During the in-office procedure, a mini liposuction is performed on the patient to remove 60 milliliters of fat, which produce approximately 8 million stem cells. The stem cells are isolated and injected back into the patients body at the site of injury or disease. Only local anesthesia is needed, and the patient will go home pain-free.

Over the next month, the patients body will repair and regenerate itself naturally. Dr. DaSilva will continue to treat the patient, with therapies that range from high dose IV nutrition and heavy metal chelation to bio-identical hormones. This helps the body maintain a healthy environment to further promote cellular and mitochondrial healing.

According to Dr. DaSilva, autologous stem cell therapy is very promising. He says, This extraordinary therapy is going to change the face of medicine. For example, it has the capability to completely reverse Type 2 Diabetes with a single dose, allowing patients to avoid amputations, premature death, and a life of food monitoring and injections. The results are truly remarkable, and this is only the beginning.
