Diversified business conglomerate United Technologies Corp. ( UTX ) was recently selected by Russian flagship airline service provider Aeroflot to manufacture some components for its upcoming fleet of The Boeing Company 's ( BA ) 737-800 Next Generation aircraft.

UTC Aerospace Systems, an operating unit of United Technologies, is entrusted with the job of manufacturing wheels and carbon brakes for Aeroflot. The components will be supplied through UTC Aerospace Systems' Wheels & Brakes business in Troy, Ohio. The first aircraft delivery is scheduled to commence from Sep 2013.

Carbon brakes manufactured by UTC Aerospace Systems use proprietary DURACARB carbon heat sink material for superior brake performance and increased life expectancy. In addition to increasing brake life by about 35%, these brakes reduce total weight of aircraft by approximately 318 kg (700 pounds) compared to steel brakes. Consequently, the new components are likely to reduce Aeroflot's cost of ownership for Boeing's Next Generation aircraft.

Based in Hartford, Conn., United Technologies provides high-end technology products and services to the building systems and aerospace industries worldwide. The company is a diversified business conglomerate serving various end markets such as aerospace, defense and commercial construction. Jakes owners feared they may have exhausted all therapies for their beloved pet, but were relentless in their search to help him.

They found their answer at Advanced Care Veterinary Services with Dr. Stramel. His recommendation of stem cell therapy seemed to have unrealistic expectations, but was worth a try. In a matter of 48 hours Jake started the process by having a small amount of fat collected from his side that would be shipped overnight to Vet-Stems labs in California. There, Jakes fatty tissue would be processed to create small injectable doses of Jakes own concentrated stem cells to be put directly into the joints that were causing him pain. Two days after Jakes fat sample was collected he received a stem cell injection in each hip and a stem cell dose by IV.

Jake was able to start rehabilitation two weeks after his stem cell therapy where his range of motion increased as well as his willingness to be more active. Unlike Christianity, sex isn’t taboo in Hindu spirituality

NEW DELHI: Asaram is being pilloried by everybody, from parliamentarians to journalists, for alleged sexual assault on a teenager and is in jail now. Some of the horrified public responses at his alleged act can also be attributed to the general notion that dissociates sex from spirituality. This notion considers everybody on the spiritual path as 'wedded' to celibacy. But is this perception correct?

A spiritual person, such orthodoxy goes, must not have a carnal side, a belief that stems from the sanyasi tradition where it is popularly believed that a seeker after God renounces all desires. This possibly explains why many Hindi newspapers and TV channels are aghast at the preacher's "fall from grace". In the English language media, the same horror is related: that men of cloth, like the Christian missionaries, must be celibate and breaking the vows of chastity would call for de-frocking of the erring priest.

In fact, the Boston Globe in the United States had run a series of reports on sex abuse in the Catholic church. Several such reports have appeared also in TOI. Since 2002, much of the US media has been critical of the approach of the bishops while dealing with sex abuse by priests. The net has a number of reports like this and this. This is because in Catholic church priests are bound by religion to be celibates. The instances of aggravated sexual transgressions by priests are worse as they involve under-age children, often of the same sex.

However, according to many Indian traditions, the path of spirituality does not preclude sex. In fact, drawing from the divine Krishna tradition, there is a spirit of joy and celebration around the idea of sex and loving union. It follows logically that sex forms a vital part of self-realization. Osho Rajneesh, a modern master, said forced celibacy was not just wrong, it was damaging to the soul of man.

It was against man's natural instincts. Celibacy as a vow had to be voluntary, and under the guidance of a capable preceptor. Otherwise, there was every possibility of the act of self-mortification destroying the initiate. All Hindu gods had families while several Indian traditions emphasized the sense of the sensual.

However, other streams of Indian spiritualism also grew, drawing from more severe notions of renunciation. One of the best that exists in Sanatani philosophy on the subject of the human body is Patanjali's statement, 'Swa-ang jugupsa, parai asansargah.' It means that with increasing spiritual insights, with greater realization, with the mind's constant attachment with truth, there develops apathy for the physical body, and it loses its physical affiliation with others. This is considered a high state of spiritual being, and that is what has made celibacy the plinth of sanyas as many understand it.

Yet, ancient Hindu rishis were known to have families and children. Even modern spiritualists like Swami Ramakrisnha Paramhansa, Lahiri Mahasaya and Sri Yukteswar Giri, the master of Paramahansa Yogananda, were all householders.

If Asaram has broken the law with the alleged sexual assault on a minor then of course the book must be thrown at him.

However, he cannot be held guilty, as a householder, of having sexual relationships or desire just because he is a spiritual preacher.

Space station crew launch cargo ship full of rubbish

The crew of Expedition 36 released Japan's H-II Transfer Vehicle (HTV-4) shortly after noon eastern time.

HTV-4 will manoeuvre to a safe distance where Japanese flight controllers will take over and safely guide the craft into a deorbit on Saturday.

The craft, now loaded with rubbish will burn up as it re-enters the Earth's atmosphere over the Pacific Ocean.

Known in Japanese as the "white stork" the craft symbolised the special delivery of needed materials for the ISS.

With the Japanese transfer vehicle moving away from the space station, the company, Orbital Sciences will begin commercial space vehicle demonstration procedures.

The vehicle will launch on September 17th as part of Nasa's transfer to commercial transportation services.

The mission is designed to demonstrate the space craft's rendezvous and berthing capabilities with the space station.

MOSCOW, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- An experienced Russian cosmonaut scheduled to fly to the International Space Station in 2015 has resigned for reasons that are unclear, officials say.

Yury Lonchakov will formally leave his job Sept. 14, Irina Rogova of the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center told RIA Novosti.

Russian media quoted the training center's head, Sergei Krikalev, as saying Lonchakov "found a more interesting job," but he did not elaborate.

No replacement has been announced announced for Lonchakov, who was set to fly as the commander of Expedition 44 to the ISS in May 2015 with Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Korniyenko and NASA astronaut Scott Kelly.

Lonchakov, 48, had been a cosmonaut since 1998 and made three space trips between 2001 and 2009 spending a total of 200 days in orbit, and made two spacewalks with a combined duration of more than 10 hours.

The Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center has had organizational problems since 2009, when it was transferred from the Defense Ministry to the civilian Federal Space Agency.

One Russian cosmonaut told a newspaper last year the prolonged reorganization had affected cosmonauts' income and career prospects, breeding discontent among personnel.

Orbital Sciences Names 1st Space Station Cargo Ship After Astronaut

When a first-of-its-kind commercial cargo spacecraft launches toward the International Space Station later this month, it will fly under the name of the astronaut who helped make the historic mission possible.

Orbital Sciences Corp. revealed Wednesday (Sept. 4) that it had christened its first Cygnus resupply ship after G. David Low, a space shuttle astronaut who was overseeing the Dulles, Va. company's development of its commercial resupply launch system when he died of cancer in 2008.

"Orbital has a tradition going back 25 years or more of naming many of our launch vehicles and spacecraft, and we're going to continue that tradition on this one," Frank Culbertson, Orbital's executive vice president and a former NASA astronaut, told reporters Wednesday. Scheduled for a Sept. 17 launch atop an Orbital Antares rocket from the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport's Pad 0A at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia, the resupply ship G. David Low will demonstrate for the space agency that Orbital's Cygnus freighterscan safely deliver supplies to the space station.

The barrel-shaped unmanned spacecraft will carry about 1,540 pounds (700 kilograms) of cargo on this first flight, comprised mostly of food for the orbiting laboratory's crew. After this demonstration proves Cygnus' capabilities, later missions will deliver science experiments and their related hardware, spare parts and other more critical supplies.

Orbital developed Cygnus and Antares as part of NASA's Commercial Orbital Transportation Services (COTS) effort. After a successful completion of this mission, Orbital will begin conducting eight planned cargo flights to the space station under a $1.9 billion Commercial Resupply Services (CRS) contract with the space agency.

"Our name for this [spacecraft, G. David Low] is going to reflect a real pioneer in the space program, particularly at Orbital, who was instrumental in winning the COTS demo mission and also winning the CRS [contract]," Culbertson said.

Low, who was the son of an Apollo program manager and deputy administrator of NASA, flew three space shuttle missions between 1990 and 1993. He joined Orbital Sciences three years later as the company's vice president for safety and mission assurance. He became senior vice president and COTS program manager in 2006.

Orbital is one of two companies flying missions under the COTS and CRS programs for NASA. The agency awarded similar partial-funding contracts to Hawthorne, Calif.-based SpaceX, which since 2006 has flown two demo flights and two resupply missions using its Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon capsule.

Orbital's G. David Low flight to the space station is slated to be the final mission under the COTS program.

Talking robot calls home from space station

A Japanese robot orbiting 370 kilometres above the Earth called home for the first time.

In video released today but filmed two weeks ago, Kirobo, Japan's first robot astronaut, spoke from the International Space Station.

"Robots take their first step towards a shining future," the one-kilogram, 34-centimetre-high automaton said as it floated around the ISS.

The researchers behind Kirobo a compound word made from the words Kibo, or "hope" in Japanese, and robot said this is the first time a robot has spoken from space.

Packaged into an insulated box, Kirobo was deployed to the space station aboard a Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency cargo transfer vehicle mounted on an H-IIB rocket on Aug. 4.

Kirobo arrived at the space station six days later, and will stay there for about a year and a half, the aerospace agency said.

The robot is set to conduct experiments in space by taking verbal orders from astronaut commander Koichi Wakata and by remote-control from earth.

Wakata will also arrive at the space station toward the end of the year to directly communicate with the robot.

The other astronauts will not be able to interact with the visiting robot unless they speak Japanese, Kirobo's native tongue.

Kirobo was developed by Tokyo University, Toyota Motor Corporation, advertising agency Dentsu and Robo Garage. It is scheduled to return to earth in December 2014.

NASA/GSFC is interested in finding partners for a WRP subsystem that will enable measurements of chemical and isotopic compositions using mass spectrometry of solid samples acquired by the Mars 2020 rover. Mass spectrometry requires low pressure (high vacuum conditions) to be maintained within a vacuum vessel for operation. The controlling electronics for the WRP system will be provided by GSFC.

This partnership opportunity is for participation in a potential response to a 2013 NASA Announcement of Opportunity (AO) for a science investigation for the upcoming Mars 2020 rover mission. A potential NASA/GSFC investigation may include instrumentation incorporating subsystems from non-NASA/GSFC partners.

The AO is expected to be a single-step process with selected investigations comprising the baseline payload for the flight mission, entering Phase A in 2014.
