Comets Could Clinch Playoff Spot on Sunday

February 7, 2014 - Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Missouri Comets INDEPENDENCE, Missouri (February 9, 2014) - The Comets will host this rematch of last year's Major Indoor Soccer League Championship (MISL) game at the Independence Events Center on Sunday, February 9th with kickoff set for 3:10 PM. The Comets will be honoring the men and women of the United States Armed Forces in their annual Military Appreciation Game, sponsored by FreeStyle Graphics.

The Blast are tied with the Milwaukee Wave for first in the MISL standings, two and a half games ahead of the Comets. This will be the second meeting between the teams this season. In the last meeting, the Comets were even with the Blast after two quarters, but allowed seven points in the third quarter to eventually fall 14-6 in Baltimore.

This matchup is possibly another MISL Playoff preview. When each team is playing at their best, they are nearly impossible to stop. Offensively, the Comets offense has outscored Baltimore on the season, but the Blast's stingy defense will be a challenge for Missouri. Goalkeepers Danny Waltman and William Vanzela are the best the MISL has to offer with the lowest points allowed per game averages.

The Comets will be honoring those who serve our country by wearing special military themed jerseys for the match. Then, in a special halftime event, the Comets will be hosting a U.S. Army Swearing-In ceremony.

After a week off, the Comets are ready to get back on the field. Vahid Assadpour still leads the league in points tallied with 55. The other half of Missouri's dynamic duo, Leo Gibson has 17 assists, placing him in second overall. The Comets could clinch their spot in the MISL playoffs for the fourth consecutive season with a win on Sunday.

Tonight's Game: The Comets travel to Wisconsin for the first and only time this season, as they visit the BMO Harris Bradley Center to take on the Milwaukee Admirals. Utica is currently in the third game of five away from The AUD.

When They Last Met: Tonight is the first meeting between the Comets and Admirals.

Comets Outlook: The Utica Comets defeated the Iowa Wild 3-2 in a shootout at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. Alex Biega won the game in the ninth round with his first shootout goal this season. Goaltender Joe Cannata put together a career high 43 saves as he earned his fifth victory as a Comet. Nicklas Jensen and Colin Stuart each found the back of the net for Utica, which moved to 17-22-2-4 on the season. Jeremy Welsh and Patrick Mullen also scored in the shootout for the Comets.

Admirals Outlook: The Admirals were victorious in their last time out as well, with a 4-2 victory over the Hamilton Bulldogs. Marek Mazanec turned aside 28 of the 30 shots he faced to earn his ninth victory in 14 appearances this season. Mark Van Guilder, Austin Watson, Colton Sissons and Charles-Oliver Roussel each found the back of the net for Milwaukee, while Greg Pateryn and Gabriel Dumont scored for Hamilton. Bulldog netminder Robert Mayer took the loss with 24 saves.

Catch Me If You Cannata: Utica Comets goaltender Joe Cannata put in a stellar effort between the pipes, with a career high 43 saves in the 3-2 win over Iowa. Appearing in his first game since Jan. 18, Cannata picked up his second straight victory and the first shootout win of his AHL career. The Wakefield, MA native turned aside seven of the nine shots he faced during the shootout.

To Biega Or Not To Biega: With the shootout game winner against Iowa, defenseman Alex Biega potted the third GWG of his AHL career, with the prior two coming as a member of the Rochester Americans. Biega has amassed a +6 rating over his last nine games, dating back to Jan. 18 and currently sits tied for second on the roster with Cal O'Reilly at +5 for the season.

Just Easin' The Jensen Baby: Winger Nicklas Jensen has now found the back of the net in two straight games following his power-play tally against Iowa on Wednesday. The winger from Denmark has now scored in six of Utica's past eight road games and seven of Jensen's eight goals this season have come over his past 13 games played.

HOLISTIC LEARNING: DPM's call for spiritual education laudable

Basically, education taught at large is secular in nature. Spiritual education is always not given prominence.

I believe Malaysia is one of the few countries where Moral Education and Islamic Education are taught in schools.

Schools are the source of knowledge, including spirituality. This vital knowledge should be imparted to all children. Ignoring values, ethics and spirituality in education is not acceptable, as pointed out by Muhyiddin.

Education without the spiritual elements is not wholesome.

In fact, spiritual elements are the basics of a human being. Spirituality differentiates the human beings and other creations of the Almighty.

Children can attain perfection through spiritual qualities.

Spirituality teaches us unity, union and harmony among men, respect among elders as well as tolerance and brotherhood.

If these values are embedded in the young minds of children, we would have a peaceful and beautiful world.

Every child is potentially the light and darkness of the world, therefore education has to be accounted as of primary importance.
