Justino rep implores White to test 'Cyborg,' offers to step aside for Rousey fight (updated)

The rep for Cristiane Cyborg Justinohas an offer for UFC President Dana White: Test her, or be quiet.

Were willing to test anywhere, anytime, anyplace to prove that shes clean, George Prajin, who co-manages Justino with Bellator fighter Tito Ortiz, today told MMAjunkie. Hes being a little reckless by making these statements without verifying the facts.

Prajin defended Justino one day after White accused her of being on performance-enhancing drugs, comparing her appearance to former PRIDE champ and current UFC fighter Wanderlei Silva.

Shes done so many drugs her head is this big, White told reporters on Thursday. Does anyone really think she fights clean?

Prajin countered that Justino made one mistake, and vowed to never make that mistake again and said she now is a clean athlete.

Well do a blood test, urine test, a hair follicle test whatever it takes so [White] can say shes clean and for him to stop making these comments, Prajin said.

Prajin said in three fights since 2011, when her Strikeforce title was stripped three years ago by UFC parent Zuffa following a failed drug test for stanozolol, Justino has twice been tested and passed. (Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp confirmed the former champ was not flagged for banned substances in a pair of appearances for the promotion.)

I can guarantee you that knowing Cyborg and having worked with her for over two years now that she is not on drugs she does not use performance-enhancing drugs, Prajin said. The issue that she had was regarding a weight cut. Someone in her camp suggested she use something that turned out to be a banned substance. She paid her dues, and shes back on track.

A man can fail multiple drug tests and be allowed to fight back in the UFC. A woman fails one drug test, and shes labeled a drug user for the rest of her life? I dont see how thats fair.

Tito Ortiz steps down as Cris Cyborg's manager

Tito Ortiz has decided to stop managing the career of Cris Cyborg, making his announcement on 'Inside MMA' on Friday night.

Here's the statement he provided AXS TV for his decision below:

"I can live with Dana not liking me but what I cant live with is Danausing me to hurt someone else. Ive taken abuse and maybe I deservedsome of it but Cris is a beautiful person and great athlete and doesntdeserve to be insulted like this.

I dont understand how Dana lets his hatred towards me hurt the UFC andthe fans by not making this fight.

He accuses her of still using banned substances and say that she isntworthy of fighting Ronda yet a year ago he personally called me to makethe fight happen.

I never said she would die if she made 135- we just repeated what the Drsaid that Cris shouldnt make a career at 135- we offered a 3 fight dealthey said no 7 fights or no deal.

Regardless I wont stand in the way from the fans getting a fight theywant and I wont hold Cris Back. So Im stepping down as Cris manager

Now he cant hold that against her-

Im also tired of Dana accusing Cris of using banned substances. Ichallenge you to put up or shut up- Test her or stop lying about her-Cris is a beautiful woman inside and out- dont insult her on her looks-she may be tough as nails but she still has feelings.

I know people are going to say there goes Tito making this about himagain- but its not -its about Cris Cyborg- the baddest woman on theearth soon to be multi-sport world champion."

Thai beaches offer mix of fun, relaxation

A trip sampling the diversity of Southeast Asian destinations can take you from the sleek modernity of Singapore to the ancient temples of Cambodia's Angkor Wat. And then there are the beaches of Thailand: relaxing, beautiful, and for the adventurous holiday-maker, a lot more exotic than Miami. Thai beaches offer gorgeous stretches of sand, water sports, nearby outdoor activities and cheap food and drink.

Off the Andaman Sea are Phuket and Koh Phi Phi, which rose to international prominence after being featured in the Leonardo DiCaprio film The Beach. But there are also the renowned beaches along the Gulf of Thailand - Koh Samui, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao. Each of these has its own charms and attractions, and regular boat services make it easy to travel to them. All three also have fantastic party scenes.

KOH SAMUI

This is the main transport centre for the islands, with a fancy airport. While the island boasts gorgeous beaches all over its coasts, head to Chaweng Beach for a proper holiday vibe. The beach is dotted with hotels for all budgets, open-air massage parlours, and vendors peddling everything from corns on the cob and pineapple to beachwear and decorative wooden keepsakes.

That's by day. By night, the main drag, a block away from the beach, buzzes with thumping music and busy restaurants. The laid-back daytime schedule means the venues don't become crowded until about 10pm or 11pm; in the interim, for penny-pinching students, head to Walking Street for cheap bottles of Chang beer, barbecued crocodile or fruit shakes, affordable swimwear and sarongs, and people-watching. Places like Ark Bar on the beach keep the party going until the early hours, with DJs and fire displays.

KOH PHANGAN

This island is home to the legendary Full Moon Party, but locals have realised the potential of such events and every few metres you'll find a sign advertising a Black Moon Party, a Waterfall Party or some other kind of party. Participants at these beach raves adorn themselves with neon body paint, then dance until they drop as the gentle, cerulean waters lap the shore. The Full Moon Party, especially, is notorious for drugs, but you'll see signs as soon as you disembark at the ferry port warning that marijuana and mushrooms are illegal. Be aware that travellers have ended up in Thai jails for violating drug laws.

Sunrise Beach is the cove where the Full Moon event takes place, but it is quiet and stunning during the day. There is a rickety path of wooden slats to a viewpoint restaurant, and the whole area gives off an end-of-the-world paradise impression.

There are eco-tours available that include elephant trekking (this is often only about 10 minutes atop an elephant), waterfall hiking and visits to temples or scenic beaches such as Bottle Beach and Koh Ma, a deserted island connected to Koh Phangan by a sandbar.

Anti-oil protests at South Island beaches

Anti-oil protest have been held around South Island beaches as US oil company Anadarko continues its exploration of New Zealand waters.

Greenpeace says there were more than 2000 people at 20 beaches on the Mainland on Saturday, with the biggest crowds in Dunedin, Christchurch and Kaikoura.

The numbers showed New Zealanders did not want deep sea drilling off the coast, said Greenpeace energy campaigner Steve Abel.

"We don't want to see dozens of oil rigs dotted off our coastlines - that is the awful vision of John Key and Anadarko. We want jobs for New Zealanders that don't ruin our fishing grounds or risk oil washing on our beaches."

Anadarko's chartered ship the Noble Bob Douglas is now exploring the Canterbury Basin after failing to find oil off the west coast of the North Island.

It says it will most likely find natural gas in the Canterbury Basin, rather than oil.

The Petroleum Exploration and Production Association says finding commercial quantities of oil and natural gas is not easy, but drilling can be done safely in deep water.

In November last year, six boats protested against the Noble Bob Douglas off the Waikato coast. A subsequent Greenpeace legal challenge to the exploration permit failed.

Anti-oil protesters are again planning a sea-going protest off the Otago coast.

They say deep sea drilling for oil and gas is extremely risky for the environment and question the safety record of Anadarko, which was one of the companies behind the Deepwater Horizon oil spill disaster in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010.

Astronomy: Saturn: the lord of moons – DAWN.COM

THE middle of the road planet is also the middle one in every way. A sedate loiterer, careering in the middle of the Solar System, planet Saturn has five inner and three outer planets to serve as neighbours in the pretty crowded system (I still regard Pluto as a planet and not a planetoid).

Also regarded as a classical planet, Saturn has been known to mankind before the discovery of those that required at least an optical telescope, not to speak of the right kind of mathematics to work out their potential presence in the skies.

The glittering prize of Saturn and its claim to fame continues to be its lovely ring system. Though another claim is no less potent: the planets numerous moons many dozens of them, (maybe some more) that lie hidden inside its irrepressible ring system. Their orbits around the master planet are no less interesting. They orbit independent of the ring system.

But surely the moons are prodded and nudged by the rings that house them. And I can see collisions galore; smaller pieces ramming into the bigger ones and, in the bargain hurting themselves before disappearing, digging those ominous craters on the face of the boss.

Understandably, there is wide space between individual moons and the debris forming the ring system. The space is wide enough for the moons to roam freely but not without some, if occasional obstruction as stated above. Most of these so-called moons are not moons at all: they are captured asteroids of irregular shapes which could not coalesce into round shapes as large moons do, but remained in mountain-like shapes.

For a long while Saturn was considered the limit of the Solar System; until 1781 when William Herschel, the German musician living in England discovered planet Uranus, which instantly earned him the most coveted prize of royal proximity. He was employed as Astronomer Royale in the court of King George V. Soon he ended up discovering two moons of the planet (Oberon and Titania).

There is much more to Saturn than meets the eye. But for present we shall confine ourselves to the moons of this planet in fact, some of the moons, of the portion of the Solar System so far. For the other moons, let us first get over with planets from Uranus to Pluto, then their moons).

Most of the icy moons of Saturn are tiny, and very cold for their distance away from the Sun. But, of the lot, Titan is large enough to have oceans, if frozen. With a diameter of 5150km it is larger than planet Mercury. That gives you an idea of its enormous size. Titan, together with Jupiters Ganymede is large (and pretentious!) enough to cool over the billenia(eh!) and also have an atmosphere, probably containing elements associated with living organisms like hydrogen, oxygen, carbon and nitrogen, as on the Earth.

Titans atmosphere is far denser than that of Earths. Its surface temperature is -180C. However, some astronomers feel that some organic (life-giving) molecules might have rained onto its surface providing Titan with some form of life in the early ages of its history (say, in the first couple of billion years or so). Its orange coloured clouds are more than 250km deep with an even deeper haze layer which makes the observation and study of the moon very difficult. The question of life, then what kind of life, is a question that has defied an answer thus far.

The large moons of Saturn are composed of ice mixed with a great deal of rocks, making them somewhat Earth-like. Virtually all of them have crater marks, some others (notably Mimas) have numerous craters, probably more than the Earths Moon. It has borne the brunt of meteor, comet and asteroid bombardment like little else.
