Watch the Freedom Tower BASE Jump Everyone's Talking About

Three guys jumped off the Freedom Tower in NYC last September, and a video posted this week shows the daredevils' stunt which has since led to their arrest. Jumpers Andrew Rossig, James Brady, and Marco Markovich parachuted off the skyscraper on Sept. 30, climbing the stairs to the top of the 1,776-foot tower while a fourth friend kept watch below. Rossig's lawyer has stated that the men didn't run into any security guards, sparking debate about the appropriate level of security at the building. That night, after they opened their parachutes and landed on West Street, a Goldman Sachs security guard called the police, but they weren't immediately found. In January, detectives identified a few of the men and found GoPro cameras with footage of the jumps.

On Thursday, all four men were charged with burglary, reckless endangerment, and jumping from a structure, and Rossig's attorney stated, "No one was harmed except for Port Authority whose lack of security was exposed." For his part, Rossig said, "We just kind of walked in. It's supposed to be the most secure building in the world. God forbid it was somebody else getting in there with a real intention to harm New Yorkers." Of the jump, he called it "exhilarating," saying, "You really get to enjoy the view of the city and see it from a different perspective."

The group's jumping video comes just days after a New Jersey teenager was arrested for heading to the top of the Freedom Tower in the middle of the night and taking pictures. Sixteen-year-old Justin Casquejo crawled through a hole in the fence at the site, then took an elevator to the 88th floor with an elevator operator before climbing the stairs to the 104th floor and making his way to the antenna. When he left two hours later, he was spotted by a construction worker and taken into custody, charged with misdemeanor trespassing.

Beaches Jazz Festival supporters launch petition to save funding

Watch:Beaches Jazz Festival supporters launch petition to save funding. Carey Marsden reports.

TORONTO Beaches Jazz Festival supporters have launched an online petitionto urge Ontarioto restore funding to the free summer event after an annual provincial grant was not renewed this month.

The festival, which attracted an estimated 500,000 people last year, received $75,000 from the Celebrate Ontario program in each of the last six years.

Organizers were told on March 13 that they would no longer receive the funding this time around.

This year, the festival is in danger of being drastically reduced in size and scope because the funding that it has regularly received for the past 6 years has not been renewed by the government, the petition wrote.

Critics argued the move seemed odd as the governing Liberals reportedly awarded a $300,000 grant to multimillionaire rap star Drake was to stage his two-day OVO Fest in Toronto this summer.

Watch: (Mar 20) The Beaches Jazz Festival has been denied a provincial grant it has received in the past. Carey Marsden reports.

Meanwhile, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, a company thats estimated to be worth $2 billion, wants $10 million from the province to upgrade BMO Field in Toronto a city-owned property.

The company that owns the Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Raptors, and Torontos professional soccer team says it will put in $90 million for the upgrade, but only if it gets $30 million from the city, province and federal government.

Tourism Minister Michael Chan defended the decision on Monday, saying Celebrate Ontario is a competitive program, which attracted 441 applications last year, and supports many events across the province.

AlchemyAPI aims deep learning at ad inventory

Summary: Advertising and media is a big market for AlchemyAPI, which specializes in artificial intelligence algorithms.

AlchemyAPI on Wednesday will roll out new deep learning tools that aims to improve ad targeting and inventory management.

Talking deep learning with AlchemyAPI CEO Elliot Turner

The launch, expected at the Ad:Tech conference, includes Taxonomy and Sentiment Analysis application programming interfaces (APIs). Advertising and media is a big market for AlchemyAPI, which specializes in artificial intelligence algorithms.

Taxonomy API covers 1,000 topic categories with five levels of hierarchy. Publishers and advertisers can create categories on any phrase to target niche terms.

Here's the description of the Taxonomy API:

Deeper levels allow you to classify content into more accurate and lucrative sub segments. For instance, an application focused on identifying content discussing personal lending practices can narrow its classification into sub topics that target decisions with finer resolution.

/finance/personal finance/lending/credit cards /finance/personal finance/lending/home financing /finance/personal finance/lending/personal loans /finance/personal finance/lending/student loans /finance/personal finance/lending/vehicle financing

As for the Sentiment Analysis API, AlchemyAPI said that the updated deep learning tool will be more accurate processing short texts, poorly written tweets, slang and other sentiment curve balls.
