The Justice League member Cyborg will be played by actor Ray Risher, who will have a small role in Batman Vs Superman film starring Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck.
Variety reports that after testing multiple actors for the role, Fisher has been cast as the Justice League member Cyborg. While hes reportedly not a major part of Batman Vs Superman, he does have a larger role in the DC universe.
Cyborgs name is Victor Stone, and he may become a larger part of DCs universe as Warner Bros. begins to roll out solo superhero films to go along with their superhero stuffed films.
He will be joining Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman in what has become quite a star filled cast.
Henry Cavill recently mentioned Cyborg during Man of Steels bonus features, saying, I think he would create an incredible bridge between superheroes and humanity, Cavill said of the Cyborg character. He may have even known that an actor was currently being searched for to play the character when filming the behind-the-scenes footage for the bonus discs.
Oscar Award winning actress Holly Hunter recently joined the cast in an unknown role, as well as a few other fellow actresses that will be filling out the final few roles in the currently untitled film.
Snyder has continued to surprise fans, as he cast Jesse Eisenberg as the films villain Lex Luthor and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. We do have some faith in his casting choices, though, and Holly Hunter is certainly a highly talented actress, which should help raise the film to a higher level.
Director Zack Snyder has jammed his movie with talented actors and new characters, so well be curious to see what ends up being the focus of the film.
Batman Vs Supermans release date is set for May 6, 2016. Man of Steel actor Henry Cavill will return along with Amy Adams as Lois Lane.

BALTIMORE -- It doesn't seem like Ronda Rousey is going to be disciplined for calling Cris Cyborg "an it."
UFC president Dana White said in his pre-UFC 172 media scrum Thursday that he doesn't believe Rousey's comments were of a homophobic or transphobic nature and that a reporter who called GLAAD is an "idiot."
"She's not a transgender fighter," White said of Cyborg. "She's a woman. What Ronda is saying is [Cyborg has] taken so many drugs, she's probably not a woman anymore. She's not a transgender fighter. She didnt have a surgery."
Rousey's full quote to Yahoo! was as follows: "This girl has been on steroids for so long and [has been] injecting herself for so long that she's not even a woman anymore. She's an 'it.'"
Cyborg was busted for steroids in 2009, but has not tested positive since in organizations outside of the UFC. White said it's the fight business and "people say mean things about each other."

Cris Cyborg was popped for performance-enhancing drugs in 2011.
Rousey's words, though, caused quite a stir. MMA apparel brand Americana even offered $5,000 to the first fighter to knock Rousey out. Rousey, the UFC women's bantamweight champion, defends her belt against Alexis Davis at UFC 175 on July 5.
"She called [Cyborg] an 'it,'" White said. "[Cyborg] calls Ronda a chicken. Is Ronda a chicken? Should Ronda be offended by being called a chicken? Grow the f*** up, everybody."

The Cris Cyborg vs. Ronda Rousey and Dana White drama never ends.
Earlier this week, Rousey called Cyborg "an it," saying "shes not even a woman anymore" after "injecting herself for so long."
UFC president Dana White didnt see anything wrong with Rousey's statement, telling the media at Thursday's pre-UFC 172 scrum that the Brazilian "looked like Wanderlei Silva in a dress and heels" at the World MMA Awards.
Cyborg didnt like those comments, but wont fire back.
"I thought the comparison was funny," Cyborg told MMAFighting.com. "Im a big fan of Wanderlei Silva, hes a big international idol."
Many people think that Rousey should be fined for her comments about Cyborg, but the Brazilian never expected it.
"Im not surprised (she wasnt punished) because shes UFCs paper champion," she said. "They obviously would never punish her, even because her opponents are handpicked.
"I always admired Dana White as a great businessman that always believed in MMA and helped our sport to grow around the world. And Im sure that, with the power he has, he would never go against his paper champion."
Cyborg expects to defend her Invicta FC featherweight title "soon," and eyes a bantamweight clash with Rousey in the horizon.
"Everything she says motivates me to get inside the Octagon against her," Cyborg said. "I dont keep sadness, I keep names."

Cyborg, a superhero that is part-man and part-machine just like his name indicates, apparently won't have a big role in Snyder's Batman-Superman film. But don't feel too bad for Fisher, because his role will expand as Warner Bros. and DC Comics adapt more films related to The Justice League.
Though the film has no name yet, it does have a release date:May 6, 2016.

BALTIMORE, Md. -- There are a number of topics unrelated to any particular UFC event that still manage to crawl into and embed themselves as the key signpost of conversation. At the post-media day scrum with UFC President Dana White on Thursday, the seemingly perennial issue of Ronda Rousey fueding through the media with former Strikeforce women's featherweight champion Cyborg Justino filled just that role.
Recently, Rousey told Yahoo Sports she believed Justino would be someone serviceable as an opponent despite years of what she believed were abuse of performance-enhancing drugs. "This girl has been on steroids for so long and [has been] injecting herself for so long that she's not even a woman anymore. She's an 'it.' It's not good for the women's division. It's not good at all," Rousey said.
When asked about the comment, which treads on notions of female identity, White was quick to defend Rousey's position to the media in attendance.
"There was a reporter in Canada who said he was going to call GLAAD [Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation] to see how they felt about it. Are you a f--king idiot?," White asked the media. "First of all, she's not a transgender fighter. She's a woman, OK? What Ronda's saying is, she's taken so many drugs that she's probably not a woman anymore. She's not a transgender fighter. She didn't have a surgery. What a moron."
When pressed on whether White had any issue with the insensitivity of Rousey's comment, White was unequivocal.
"I think that this is the fight business and people say mean things about each other," he said. "Is it not true? She got busted for taken winstrol. The same drug Ben Johnson took and many other athletes took, to do what? To cheat. Ronda called her a f--king cheater."
I responded to White that calling someone an it and a cheater don't amount to the same thing. White agreed, but ultimately suggested this was a matter of semantics.
"She called her an it. [Cyborg] calls Ronda a chicken. Should Ronda be offended at being called a chicken? Grow the f--k up, everybody."
Still, White said his own feelings about Cyborg, from a physical appearance perspective, don't deviate much from the core of Rousey's 'it' insult.
"I said, when I saw [Justino] at the MMA Awards, she looked like Wanderlei Silva in a dress and heels. And she did, did she not? Who wants to dispute that she didn't look like Wanderlei?

"Man of Steel"
A New York theater actor has nabbed the part of Cyborg in the untitled Batman-Superman movie being made by Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment.
Ray Fisher, who is perhaps best known for portraying a young Muhammad Ali in the stage production Fetch Clay, Make Man, is in negotiations to play Victor Stone, the promising football player whose life is derailed and is forced to become the hero known as Cyborg, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
PHOTOS: 35 of 2014's Most Anticipated Movies
Batman-Superman is on the surface a sequel to Man of Steel, which starred Henry Cavill as Superman, but it is also acting a building block to a bigger DC film universe.
Already cast in the movie are Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. The movie has several other actors whose parts have not been revealed, as Warners is trying to keep the whole process mysterious and secret.
Stone/Cyborg was for decades a member of the Teen Titans, a group of heroes that included the sidekicks of adult heroes such as Robin, Wonder Girl and Kid Flash. The character became retrofitted to be a member of the Justice League in 2011, when DC Entertainment relaunched its comic book line as the New 52.
Warners quietly added the character to its casting call several months ago, when it began looking for a physically fit black actor. The part at the time called for only one scene but promised more in terms of future movies.
It is unclear if the part is still one scene.
The rest is here:
The "Man of Steel" sequel just took another major step toward setting up an eventual Justice League of America film.
According to Variety, Ray Fisher, a noted theater actor, has been tapped for the role of Victor Stone or Cyborg, the half-man, half-machine superhero who started off as a member of the Teen Titans before graduating to the JLA.
Warner Bros. and DC Comics conducted screen tests over the past couple of weeks before landing on Fisher, who is most widely known for playing Muhammad Ali in the Broadway play "Fetch Clay, Make Man" and for his recent testing for J.J. Abrams' upcoming "Star Wars: Episode VII."
While Cyborg's role will be small, he'll become a more significant character as the studio develops more films for the Justice League universe. Cyborg's casting may be also be a sign that DC Comics paid attention to the successful integration of The Falcon, another African-American superhero, to Marvel's recent blockbuster, Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier.
"I think he would create an incredible bridge between superheroes and humanity," Cavill said of the Cyborg character in bonus feature on the recent "Man of Steel" home video release.
Fisher joins a cast that already includes Henry Cavill (Superman), Ben Affleck (Batman), Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) and Amy Adams (Lois Lane).
Zack Snyder is returning as director for the production, which is currently already under way in Michigan.

Myrtle Beach, S.C., has an abundance of family-friendly attractions.
A beach is a beach is a beach ... for some, that is. For families, it's a combination of calm, clean water and sand, patrolled by lifeguards and complemented by nearby eats and attractions, such as boardwalks and playgrounds. The ideal beach is also located within short walking distance of accommodations; in fact, a recent Family Vacation Critic survey reveals 50 percent of families prioritize nearby hotels, rental homes and the like. Restrooms and showers add to the appeal, as well.
These beaches, scattered across the U.S. and listed in no particular order, offer all of the above and more for families:
Coronado Municipal Beach Coronado, Calif.
A Southern California staple,Coronado Municipal Beach returns to our annual list for many reasons, namely the soothing sand and surf that never feels crowded, even in the thick of summer. Plenty of lifeguards are stationed around the beach, as are hotels, which include the famousHotel Del Coronado. "Hotel Del" is an attraction in itself, too, with organized historical tours (wait until you hear about the hotel's haunted past) and several onsite eateries available to the public;Moo Time Creamery is a must for frozen treats, though picnic lunches are welcome on the beach, as are pets! You'll also find restrooms at the hotel, and showers are stationed throughout the beach. Located just outside of San Diego, Coronado puts families close to theSan Diego Zoo,Balboa Park andSeaWorld San Diego, too.
Insider tip for families: There are tide pools located at the rocky sea break by the Hotel del Coronado, ideal for young swimmers. There are also fire pits located on the northernmost stretch of sand on Coronado Beach perfect for s'mores.

Long before the term citizen science was coined, the field of astronomy has benefited from countless men and women who study the sky in their spare time. These amateur astronomers devote hours exploring the cosmos through a variety of telescopes that they acquire, maintain, and improve on their own. Some of these amateur astronomers specialize in capturing what is seen through their telescopes in images and are astrophotographers.
What happens when the work of amateur astronomers and astrophotographers is combined with the data from some of the worlds most sophisticated space telescopes? Collaborations between professional and amateur astronomers reveal the possibilities and are intended to raise interest and awareness among the community of the wealth of data publicly available in NASAs various mission archives. This effort is particularly appropriate for this month because April marks Global Astronomy Month, the worlds largest global celebration of astronomy.
The images in this quartet of galaxies represent a sample of composites created with X-ray data from NASAs Chandra X-ray Observatory, infrared data from the Spitzer Space Telescope, and optical data collected by an amateur astronomer. In these images, the X-rays from Chandra are shown in pink, infrared emission from Spitzer is red, and the optical data are in red, green, and blue. The two astrophotographers who donated their images for these four images Detlef Hartmann and Rolf Olsen used their personal telescopes of 17.5 inches and 10 inches in diameter respectively. More details on how these images were made can be found in this blog post.
Starting in the upper left and moving clockwise, the galaxies are M101 (the Pinwheel Galaxy), M81, Centaurus A, and M51 (the Whirlpool Galaxy). M101 is a spiral galaxy like our Milky Way, but about 70% bigger. It is located about 21 million light years from Earth. M81 is a spiral galaxy about 12 million light years away that is both relatively large in the sky and bright, making it a frequent target for both amateur and professional astronomers. Centaurus A is the fifth brightest galaxy in the sky making it an ideal target for amateur astronomers and is famous for the dust lane across its middle and a giant jet blasting away from the supermassive black hole at its center. Finally, M51 is another spiral galaxy, about 30 million light years away, that is in the process of merging with a smaller galaxy seen to its upper left.
For many amateur astronomers and astrophotographers, a main goal of their efforts is to observe and share the wonders of the Universe. However, the long exposures of these objects may help to reveal phenomena that may otherwise be missed in the relatively short snapshots taken by major telescopes, which are tightly scheduled and often oversubscribed by professional astronomers. Therefore, projects like this Astro Pro-Am collaboration might prove useful not only for producing spectacular images, but also contributing to the knowledge of what is happening in each of these cosmic vistas.
NASAs Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., manages the Chandra program for NASAs Science Mission Directorate in Washington. The Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory in Cambridge, Mass., controls Chandras science and flight operations.

SALINA, Kan. (AP) - In 1961, after NASA shot Alan Shepard into space, a 9-year-old boy named Steve Hawley asked his mother to buy him a dime-store telescope.
Several years and several telescopes later, he asked his mother and father to help pay for college. To study astronomy.
Some parents might ask how staring at stars would get him a job. But Bernie and Jeanne Hawley said yes.
Steve Hawley became the astronomer and astronaut who used the robot arm of the space shuttle Discovery in 1990 to lift the Hubble Space Telescope out of the cargo bay while flying in orbit at 17,398 mph.
Hubble weighed 11 tons. At 43 feet it was the length of a large school bus. And Steve Hawley, from Salina, parked it expertly in space, 360 miles above Earth.
The Hubble has made what scientists say are the most astonishing discoveries in human history. Its still up there making more.
Hawley has a unique relationship with the Hubble. He deployed it, repaired it years later in space. Now he is one of the long list of scientists who get to tap on an office keyboard and tell Hubble what to look for.
John Hawley, a theoretical astrophysicist at the University of Virginia, can list many other historic Hubble discoveries off the top of his head:
-The age of the universe: 13.7 billion years.
-Vivid, compelling evidence that everything in creation started with a Big Bang.

Hosted by the AstronomyOutreach network, the inaugural StarLight Festival is a unique celebration of science and astronomy that is set to launch on Memorial Day weekend under the stunning skies of Big Bear Lake, California.
Free and open to the public, this annual event will educate and entertain attendees of all ages in an engaging atmosphere of music and art through hands-on experiences, presentations by a range of world-renowned scientists and space explorers, interactive exhibits and spectacular observing sessions.
"The StarLight Festival was created by the AstronomyOutreach network to introduce astronomy and science to the general public. Astronomy is one of the roots of science, and observational astronomy performed in a public setting allows people of all backgrounds, ages and abilities to gain greater scientific literacy, said Scott Roberts, founder of the AstronomyOutreach network. When people use their own eyes on a telescope, it opens their minds and hearts to exploring the universe for themselves from a perspective that is rarely experienced.
Although the true stars of the event will be found in the eyepieces of shared telescopes of all designs and sizes, the festival will feature a diverse slate of speakers for its debut year. The list of presenters includes U.S. Astronaut Dr. Story Musgrave; NASA/JPLs Dr. Linda Spilker, who is the Project Scientist for the Cassini Mission to Saturn; Dr. Seth Shostak, who is the Senior Astronomer at the SETI Institute; and famed comet discoverer Dr. David Levy.
The event also will feature a STEM zone full of demonstrations and projects that will connect children with science, an exhibit space where major manufacturers will showcase the latest in astronomy and science-related gear, day and night observing opportunities and a wealth of door prizes.
Sponsored by Pepsi, the StarLight Festival is presented in partnership with the 46th Annual Riverside Telescope Makers Conference (RTMC), which will be happening concurrently nearby, and the Big Bear Solar Observatory (BBSO-NJIT), which will provide exclusive tours during the two-day event.
Established in 2000, the AstronomyOutreach Network is a 501(c)3 non-profit educational organization dedicated to promoting public outreach in astronomy and space science.

A resourcefully stylish indie sci-fi entry from Britain, "The Machine" drapes sleek visuals over an artificial intelligence tale set in a top-secret British government facility where robots are being developed to fight a cold war with China.
Empathic computer genius Vincent (Toby Stephens) has more on his mind, however, than creating a weapon-strength, self-aware being for his military boss (Denis Lawson). Vincent imagines a revolutionary future in which the brain-damaged (be they wounded soldiers or his medically afflicted daughter) are given their humanity again.
That makes Vincent's breakthrough the Machine (Caity Lotz), an aerodynamic hot bod of a robot who can flip, fight and care deeply into a moral battleground of sorts. With her slick-backed hair, Lotz is a cyberblond right out of Hitchcock's dystopian fantasies.

Writer-director Caradog W. James is so enamored by the coolly designed future aesthetics of movies like "A Clockwork Orange" and "Blade Runner" that his metaphoric dark-and-darker lighting can get the best of him. (Being able to see an actor's face has been known to be effective.) But even with a cut-and-dried approach to characterization and the issue of man-made consciousness, "The Machine" percolates with an elegantly palpable sense of wonder and danger.

Joseph Tagger (Morgan Freeman), Agent Buchanan (Cillian Murphy) and Evelyn Caster (Rebecca Hall) watch Will Caster (Johnny Depp) on a monitor in the new film Transcendence.
Wally Pfisters film Transcendence depicts Dr. Will Caster (Johnny Depp) working toward the advancement of artificial intelligence, but those that work with and for him are taken down by an anti-technology group. Caster gets shot and is dying, which leads his wife, Evelyn (Rebecca Hall), and friend, Max (Paul Bettany), to upload him into the system, creating an artificial intelligence of Caster.
This movie encourages us to think about our relationship with technology and how far we are willing to take it. How hooked are we and how is it controlling our daily lives? It asks if we are willing to let technology get so advanced that it becomes self aware, that it desires to make changes, mend people and take matters into its own hands.
If someone were to be uploaded to such a system, we wouldnt know how much of them remained the human person and how much of them had changed to accommodate the artificial intelligence.
This movie also probes the idea of how long we are willing to hold onto something from the past before letting it go. Evelyn allowed her husbands artificial intelligence to thrive for five years before realizing it was an invasion of humanity and privacy.
Overall, the movie was easy to follow and different, but it wasnt believable. If the solution of destroying an artificial intelligence that has access to every aspect of technology was to simply upload a virus that would utterly destroy all of technology, more people would probably act out.
If people suddenly no longer had access to phones, the Internet and power, riots would break out because todays society relies so heavily on technology.
