The rapid improvement of sophomore quarterback Joe Young has helped the Freedom football team surge to the top of the EPC South Division football standings.
The Patriots may have to play without him when they try to keep their perfect start going Friday.
Young is questionable for this weeks game against Parkland after suffering an injury in last weeks overtime win against Whitehall. Freedom coach Jason Roeder said at Tuesdays practice he hoped to know more on Youngs status in the next few days.
Young has run for 404 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging 5.8 yards per carry this season. He has thrown for another 899 yards with eight touchdowns and three interceptions for Freedom, which is 7-0 overall and 5-0 in the South Division. The Patriots finished 2-8 last season.
If Young cant go against the Trojans, Freedom would likely turn to junior Jonah Gundrum. Gundrum started several games at quarterback as a sophomore last season before Young took over later in the year.
Gundrum has played wide receiver this season and been an impact special-teams player for Freedom. He has blocked two field goals and one punt.

While the overt goal of Freedom Summer was to register black Mississippians to vote, a panel of civil rights scholars and veterans say that summer was a building block for the Civil Rights Movement.
Miami University concluded its extended weekend remembering the 50th anniversary of Freedom Summer, the summer where 800 students ascended on the Western College of Women campus which is now the Oxford campus western campus to be trained and then sent to Mississippi.
The panel on Understanding the Past, Building the Future was led by Miami University assistant professor of history Nishani Frazier and featured a panel of Chude Allen, Gloria Wade Gayles, Dave Dennis, Jared Leighton, Keith Parker and U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio.
I came up in a community that was real where I had a lot of fathers and I have a lot of mothers. I came up a community where people looked out for each other, said Dennis, a Freedom Rider and member of the Council of Federated Organizations in Mississippi.
U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, sat in on the panel of civil rights scholars and veterans and recounted his personal experiences, albeit removed due to age from the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s.
The senior senator from northern Ohio said the lesson people can take from Freedom Summer is to fight back by making trouble, making good, necessary trouble, whether its for civil rights for marriage or racial equality, or for voters rights.
Your life expectancy is connected to your ZIP code. If you grew up in Oxford, Ohio, or Oxford, Mississippi, if you grow up in Over-the-Rhine or what Over-the-Rhine used to be in Cincinnati five years ago or in Indian Hill, a wealthy suburb, so much of your lifes plan is laid out for you in terms of the support you have, the opportunities you have. That really to me is what the Civil Rights Movement is all about how we changed that script for so many people whose life plan is too scripted ahead of time by the zip code they were born in, Brown said.
Parker, who holds undergraduate degrees in psychology and sociology and masters and doctorate in sociology, said the children of today needs to have an outlet where they can do good for a community, or a cause, and not be destructive.
One of the failures is the fact that we are not engaging young people, said Parker, who is involved in the organization of the National Civil Rights Conference in Mississippi. For some reason we are not able to find ways to allow young people to come and express themselves as we were allowed our churches, our schools, our civil and social organizations, and clubs provided us the opportunities to do these sorts of things. Where is that today? I think that is a reflection of the society and the time of which we are living, he said.

CEDARVILLE, Ohio For Steve Green, it seemed a no-brainer that the U.S. Supreme Court would rule in favor of his company, Hobby Lobby.
It had sought a religious exemption to a federal mandate that requires employers to provide employees insurance coverage for contraception, including morning-after pills.
We have no desire, intent to impose our religion on any of our employees, and thats not what were asking for, Green, the president of the Oklahoma City-based craft-store chain, said last week during the Religious Freedom Summit at Cedarville University in western Ohio.
Were just saying we want to not be forced to become an abortion provider by freely providing products that would take life.
To Green, it seemed a simple decision in a country that has religious freedoms.
At the summit, sponsored by Cedarville University and the Virginia-based Chuck Colson Center for Christian Worldview, Green said defying the mandate could have cost his company more than $1 million a day in fines and put it out of business.
The family-owned Hobby Lobby, citing its Christian beliefs, won its case in June, when the Supreme Court ruled that closely held, for-profit companies can claim a religious exemption.
Many speakers at the summit said the issue is just one facet of potential infringements that religious leaders will need to stand up to.
Religious organizations were among groups that challenged the contraception mandate, while others have argued that allowing exemptions could compromise the health of women employees and take away their right to make their own health-care decisions.

About 480 exhibitors from 22 countries and regions will take part in Eco Expo Asia and the Building and Hardware Fair with both events paying keen attention to more environmentally friendly building techniques and materials. The Building and Hardware Fair will also be open to the public for the first time on the last day.
Eco Expo
Eco Expo Asia is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, and co-organised by the Environment Bureau of the Hong Kong SAR Government.
Eco Expo Asia is comprised of four themed days: "Global Green Initiatives", "Waste Management & Recycling", "Green Building, Energy Efficiency & Energy" and "Green Living". There will be a variety of special events and conferences related to the theme of each day. Major events taking place during Eco Expo Asia include the Eco Asia Conference running 29-31 October.
Going Green
Three types of environment-friendly vehicles will be on display during the Expo, including a car, a truck and a bus. Carmaker BMW is showcasing its BMW i3 electric car which promises sheer driving pleasure with zero emissions. It features lightweight carbon fibre reinforced plastic and an advanced electric drive system. The electric bus is produced by Green Dynamic Electric Vehicle Ltd in collaboration with the Hong Kong Productivity Council, making it the first local Hong Kong-brand of electric bus. The truck is a Hino 300 Hybrid Series which includes new features to boost fuel efficiency and ensure safe and smooth performance.
Creative Solutions
Creative solutions for green living on display at the fair include the Household Foodwaste Processing System which can be installed under the sink and decomposes food waste to be discharged through the sewage system. Also on show is Enevo ONe, which is a wireless sensor to detect how full waste containers are.
Building Better
This ninth edition of the Hong Kong International Building and Hardware Fair has been expanded this year to cover four days (29 Oct-1 Nov). The event includes companies from Portugal and Turkey participating for the first time. A total of 14 exhibitors from Huzhou, Zhejiang province of the Chinese mainland, will participate in the Huzhou Pavilion to showcase their latest green building materials and decorations.

Four major beaches in Krishna district, which were closed for visitors since the warning of severe cyclonic storm Hudhud, were opened on Tuesday morning, allowing visitors close to the sea water. Bathing was restricted at the four beaches viz. Manginapudi, Pedapatnam and Peda Gollapalem under Bandar police limits and Hamsaladeevi beach under Avanigadda police limits.
Five days after the cyclone and unsafe weather conditions prevailed on the beaches, we have decided to reopen the beaches from Tuesday morning with precautionary measures, Bandar Deputy Superintendent of Police K. Srinivasa Rao told The Hindu.
We have information that the sea condition had turned safe at the beaches and hence visitors are being allowed close to the sea, he added. Huge crowd of visitors from across the district were expected to throng Manginapudi and Hamsaladeevi beaches to have a glimpse of sea condition after the cyclone weakens on the coast in Andhra Pradesh.
On the other hand, staff at the special beach police post at Manginapudi beach kept an eye on the visitors, restricting them from bathing in the sea to avoid any drowning incident due to rip current effect. On Tuesday morning, enthusiastic visitors turned out to the Manginapudi beach, observing the changes on the beach, particularly erosion of the beach near boat parking point.

Astronomy & Astrophysics is publishing the spectacular discovery of meteorite fragments 20 years after the corresponding bolide was seen in the skies of the Czech Republic. This discovery was made possible by reanalyzing the trajectory, which moved the impact line by 330 meters. Interestingly, the meteorites found on the ground are of different types, pointing to a parent asteroid of heterogeneous composition.Collisions of meter-sized meteoroids with the Earths atmosphere are relatively rare, occurring about 40 times a year. They cause very spectacular events, known as superbolides. One of the best known such events, the Benesov bolide, occurred on 7 May 1991 at 23h 03m 46s UT over the Czech Republic. It was recorded during systematic photographic observations by the European Fireball Network and certainly ended in a multiple meteorite fall, but no meteorite was found in the weeks and years after the fall, despite many attempts. In February 2011, nearly 20 years after the event, P. Spurny and his colleagues measured the records again and analyzed the data with improved methods. This led to a new picture of the whole event with a revised atmospheric trajectory and a new impact location. This allowed the team to recover the Benesov meteorites, 20 years after the fall, exactly in the newly predicted area. It is the first time a meteorite is found so long after the bolide observation. The team found four small, highly-weathered meteorites with a total mass of 12 g. The probability that these four fragments come from different meteoroids and were found by chance at the same place is estimated to be 1 in 100,000 or less. Even more interestingly, these four meteorites are of three different mineralogical types. This means that the Benesov meteoroid was heterogeneous and contained at least three different types of material. After the Almahata Sitta fall, this is the second time that such a heterogeneous composition has been found. It raises the possibility that a significant fraction of all asteroids are heterogeneous and that they were strongly reprocessed by collisions with other asteroids in the main belt.PIO Contact:Dr. Jennifer MartinAstronomy & Astrophysics, Paris, France+33 1 43 29 05 41aanda.paris@obspm.frScience Contact:Dr. Pavel SpurnyAcademy of Sciences of the Czech Republic+420 323 620 153pavel.spurny@asu.cas.czReference:Reanalysis of the Benesov bolide and recovery of polymict breccia meteorites -- old mystery solved after 20 years, by Spurny et al., Astronomy & Astrophysics, 2014, 570, A39 [http://dx.doi.org/10.1051/0004-6361/201424308].

Thursday's GlobalDairyTrade auction is expected to get the most attention in New Zealand this week as most investors focus on offshore developments.
Renewed jitters about global growth would continue to hold greater sway than the little data from New Zealand, BNZ senior economist Craig Ebert said.
The resumed price plunge of 7.3% at the last auction had beaten him into a ''stronger stage of agnosticism'' regarding near-term direction for global dairy prices, Mr Ebert said.
''If there is no material bounce at this week's auction, we will crystallise the down-side risk we've been emphasising and move our dairy milk price forecast for this season down to $5 - perhaps even lower - from the $5.30 mark we went with at the time of Fonterra's announcement on September 24.''
Also on Thursday, September's job advertisement figures would be released, he said.
They could be negative, given they were taken before September's general election.
However, on Thursday afternoon, ANZ-RM consumer confidence results would be released, one of the first post-election economic reads.
Attention would turn to whether confidence had lifted from its already sturdy level in September of 127.7 points, Mr Ebert said.
Thursday's Performance in Manufacturing Index would be compared with its solid reading of 56.5 in August.
