Sunset Cruise on the Chobe Waterfront
M Next stop Chobe National Park Chobe is known for its elephants. Indeed there are estimated to be 120000 elephants in Chobe. If you have read Kates blog on Etosha then you know that this isnt exactly a selling point in Chobes favour for her Hence we decided to take our friends advice and rather than undertake a land safari base ourselves on the river at Kasane enjoy the par

There just arent that many roads. Plus theres a surplus of signs reminding drivers not to speed or litter and of course the lineup of upcoming towns. Im driving this time and I quickly relax into it

I39m not going to change the way I look or the way I feel to conform to anything. I39ve always been a freak. So I39ve been a freak all my life and I have to live with that you know. I39m one of those people. John Lennon Message you shouldn39t change for anyone but only yourself because you39re you and no one else.Failures are finger posts on the road to achievement.C.S
Hanakapi’ai Falls Haena State Park
The Hanakapi39ai Trail and Kalalau Trail originate at the end of the road on Kaua39i39s north shore. There is a parking area to park your car but don39t leave your car with valuables in it. Most people leave a window slightly opened to show the thief that nothing is left behind. The Hanakapi39ai Valley is 32 kilometers in on the Kalalau Trail parting at the Hanakapi39ai Beach. T
Surin

A 19 year old London black cab, 3 friends, the British Red Cross and the Guinness Book of World Records -what do they all have in common? Normally nothing. But, in this instance – everything. Three friends decided to drive a London black cab from – you guessed it, London to Sydney, Australia – raising money for the British Red Cross and breaking the Guinness Word Record for the longest taxi ride. They broke the record and haven’t even reached Sydney yet.

Easy Saturday
What a lovely day. We landed a lock only minutes from the Columbus Marina. They aren39t quite as deep any more so the drop is quicker. Our first stop was the Bevill Museum and the Steam Paddle Boat The Montgomery. It was used to snag trees and limbs from the waterways. Beautifully restored mansion. Once again our next lock was only minutes away.Today we traveled 55 miles from Columbus to Sum
In Case You Were Wondering …
Why did I title my last blog as entry as Black Hawk Nearly Down Well China or more in this case Xian and the volunteering isnt quite what I expected. I went through a bit of a crisis of confidence in my first couple of days and Im still not completely enjoying it. First the thing that is killing me the most is probably the pollution. My school is located near Xians main power st
The relative culture of Perth.
This weekend we had a short break to Perth catching up with family and taking in a little bit of culture. We drove to Perth via Mandurah a once quaint seaside village now a bustling metropolis devoid of any charm. Sadly that is what happens to many such coastal retreats once developers move in. Despite the lack of charm there are many lovely homes in the area and the estuary is still very p

Be Serious About Play
Fun times good friends and great memories I think that about best sums up this past weeks activities and Birthday celebrations. As of October 4th I officially became another year older and I suppose that I should have some sort of feelings about that. However I find that I am surprisingly unphased this year by the tacking on of another year to my age. This is one area however in which I
WE LOVE PINAS
This isn39t as good as I had hoped it would be I had such a blast in the Philippines that I waited until I was back in the UK to write it... Think that says more about the Philippines than I ever couldWe were in Baguio when the typhoon hit. We were hoping to see the Ifago rice terraces but none of the buses were running because of the weather and now we were stuck. I didn39t want to
A far away land
Moving to Jinja I sometimes feel I have been taken to the world that I heard about in stories from my parents and grandparents as well as the one I left nearly a year ago. Surrounding me are remnants from a Britain of 50 70 or 100 years ago and now. A traditional Britain is in the classroom where a teacher stands at the front and dictates to children parroting what is said and are caned if they

Sitting in my Emergency Exit Oman Airways 470 return to Bangkok flight on the second leg of a journey taking me from the recently Autumnised She Bush to the heat and humidity of Bangkok the lady in the seat next me and I started a conversation. I recall it was over the breakfast served after we hit 42000feet in the skies above Muscat and at about 5am UK time. She was travelling from
