Up-and-coming singer-songwriter Ben Jaimen has announced that he will perform on stage at one of the worlds biggest and most watched New Years Eve concert events, Berlins annual Brandenburg Gate New Years Eve celebration. This year marks Jaimens third invitation to perform for the crowd of over a million revelers for the live, nationally and internationally broadcast event, which lines more than one mile in front of the German national landmark.
Ben Jaimen will perform music from his recently released debut EP Through The Universe as well as a brand new song, 7 Billion People. 7 Billion People was inspired by Jaimens work with the childrens charity Spirituality For Kids. While working with SFK, Jaimen wrote the song for the children in the program, which promotes the ideals of unity, love and growth for kids around the world. The song then evolved into a larger statement and tribute to the goals of SFK to bring youth together.
7 Billion People will be performed live in a special collaboration with a pre-recorded childrens choir, creating a virtual chorus comprised of children from across the globe. The interactive experience is being curated in collaboration with Playing For Change, a multimedia movement created to inspire, connect, and bring peace to the world through music. 7 Billion People is available now for free download and suggested donation at childrens charity Spirituality For Kids, at http://www.spiritualityforkids.com/7billionpeople. Online, at a special page designed for children to watch a video of the song, they are able to study both the lyrics and dance moves. The page includes instructions on how to record and submit their own performance of the song for inclusion in the New Years Eve performance along with other children from around the world.
7 Billion People will be released for sale on December 31st at iTunes with a portion of all proceeds going to the charity. The song will be available via Ben Jaimens iTunes page: https://itunes.apple.com/us/artist/ben-jaimen/id475657708
Jaimens musical style blends catchy melodies and emotional lyrics to create a distinctive pop sound. Raised in Berlin, now living in L.A. by way of Bordeaux, Tel Aviv, London and Buenos Aires, the young artists cultural identity and musical tastes were shaped by this relentless globe-hopping. Influenced by popular culture and musical royalty such as The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Prince, Elton John, Bob Dylan and Burt Bacharach, Jaimens debut release Through The Universe sees the young artist establishing his vision of what pop means today. His passionate performance style has earned him praise as a natural performer and electric on stage.

Russell Crowe met The Archbishop of Canterbury at Lambeth Palace on Tuesday (April 1), following the London premiere of Noah earlier this week.
The two spoke about the film, faith and spirituality during a short private meeting, according to the Archbishop's office. Crowe plays the title role in the biblical epic, which is released on Friday (April 4) in the UK.
Crowe also managed to meet Pope Francis last month and spoke about the experience on Good Morning America.
"Look I'm not Catholic and I've never felt any connection with any previous Pope, but I like this guy," he explained.
"I like what he says... he's changing the tone of the way you regard the Pope and I think it is a magnificent thing. I was very privileged and humbled to be in that environment."
Noah, directed by Darren Aronofsky, had its big premiere at Odeon Leicester Square on Monday (March 31) as the movie's stars Crowe, Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly and Ray Winstone all turned up.
The movie debuted in the number one spot at the US box office at the weekend.

If controversial activist Dinanath Batra has his way, sex education in schools would soon be replaced with Vedic Maths and similar subjects.
Batra does not want sex education to be a part of curriculum in the new school education policy being drafted by the ministry of human resources and development (MHRD). The ministry is seeking inputs from all stakeholders.
Batra's Shiksha Bachao Andolan (SBA) wants Vedic Mathematics, ancient Indian knowledge, spirituality and environment-related principles in Vedas and Upanishadas in the school curriculum and wants sex education out. Formed in 2004, the SBA Samiti has emerged as the most vocal among the Hindutva brigade's moral vigilantes. Over the years, the Samiti has forced several public and private bodies to give in to its demands regarding changes in education.
At present, Central Board of School Education's (CBSE) biology texts for the eight standard and above have chapters on sex education, under the 'Adolescence and Reproductive Sexual Health Programme'. It covers issues related to nutrition, health, hygiene, physical fitness and mental health besides drug abuse, reproductive and sexual health and HIV-AIDS.
Batra (89) was unavailable for comment due to poor health. His colleague and co-convenor of the SBA, Atulbhai Kothari, says, "We need not follow western countries blindly. A simple fact check can tell you that all these countries are witnessing higher incidences of teenage sex. Teaching about sex in classrooms is one of the worst ideas to spoil kids in the name of education. The flawed policy must be corrected," says Kothari, who, along with Batra, is preparing a comprehensive report to "guide" MHRD on the new education policy to be submitted to the ministry by May 2015.
Batra and several right wing groups have been opposing sex education since educationists, psychologists and NGOs started advocating it in the 90s and the CBSE finally introduced it in 2007.
"Teaching sex in classrooms generate unnecessary curiosity among children. Schools can rather have counselling cells to address issues like stress, sexuality, etc. This will also bail out teachers who feel uncomfortable teaching this subject," Kothari says.
"We believe that education must incorporate three basic principles - culture, nature and development. Education must not only offer livelihood but also a vision for life and society, which our current education policy lacks. We have also forgotten ancient Indian knowledge. That's why we want Vedic Maths to be taught in schools," says Kothari.
The SBA claims that its report would be based on "thorough research" on the previous education policies, and country-wide consultation with the stakeholders.
Educationists, predictably, are not sanguine about the SBA stand. "After messing up with Teachers' Day, Children's Day and Christmas, we will not be surprised if the BJP-led central government also accepts these suggestions," a Mumbai University professor said.

Kolkata, Dec 27:
Labour reforms for the unorganised sector is a priority for the Narendra Modi government. And steps are being accordingly taken in this regard by the Centre, the Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Bandaru Dattatreya, said here.
According to him, some of the steps taken include the setting up of the Shram Suvidha Portal (SSP) where a unique labour identity number will be provided to workers (in the unorganised sector) of various establishments.
Dattatreya was in the city to attend the Srei organised event, World Confluence of Humanity, Power and Spirituality.
My focus area will be the unorganised sector. We have taken a new initiative, the Shram Suvidha Portal (SSP), that will help provide labour identity number (LIN) to the establishments, he said.
So far, labour identity numbers have been provided by the Centre to 7.5 lakh institutions. The numbers will go up soon.
According to Dattatreya, steps are being taken to further decentralise labour services with the Central government allotting a Universal Account Number (UAN).
The UAN is a portable number which gives the members greater control over their money and links EPF and ESI services.

His faith was true blue.
Police officer Rafael Ramos was remembered today as a devoted father, husband, and dedicated cop whose indomitable spirituality touched everyone around him.
Ramos, 40, was ambushed and executed in his patrol car along with fellow officer Wengjian Liu, 32, gunned down by cop-hating madman Ismaaiyl Brinsley, 28, in a random attack in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn last Saturday.
It was a brutal end for a gentle soul such as Ramos, who saw working for the NYPD as his chance to do Gods work.
He felt that he was protecting and serving his community and that was a sort of a ministry for him, Rev. Marcos Miranda, president of the interfaith New York State Chaplain Task Force, told Arise America.
Ramos, who studied at the Faith Evangelical College and Seminary in Washington State, spent 10 weeks training in the program and was just an hour away from graduating before he was murdered.
He said this type of ministry, the chaplaincy, he could see himself doing this in the future as a full-time ministry after he retired from the NYPD, Miranda said.

Ramos, who friends called Ralph, leaves behind a wife, Maritza, his high school sweetheart who he married in 1993, and two sons, Jaden, 13, and Justin, a Bowdoin College sophomore.
His funeral today is at Christ Tabernacle Church in Glendale, where Ramos was a 14-year member.

Live: Your Health In Your Hands ...the Spirituality of Essential oils - Video
Sister Kathleen Kenkel remembers getting cranky phone calls from priests and laypeople alike when the Franciscan Spirituality Center in La Crosse first began offering yoga.
How can Catholic sisters have programs like that? the doubters demanded, said Kenkel, 85, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration and one of the founders of the center in 1984.
Her answer: One of our goals is to develop the whole person spiritual, mind, body and movement.
Reflecting on the three decades of the center, where Kenkel was the first director, she said, I think it has opened up peoples mind and hearts that spirituality is for the whole being not just retreats and silence and prayer, but the whole body and mind.
Audrey Quanrud, the current director of the center at 920 Market St., describes Kenkel as one of the facilitys wisdom figures.
Shes amazing because she still comes to programs here, even though shes heard everything they would say, said Quanrud, 60.
The center found its roots in Vatican II, a council in the early to mid-1960s that opened new roles for nuns and laypeople in the Catholic Church, Kenkel said.
The council said the church is all the people of God, she said. Before that, it was the hierarchy, and we were just the helpers. Vatican II said all are called to evangelize.
The center answered that call, ushering in the evolution from a church where only priests could lead retreats and interpret the Bible to one where sisters and laypeople can do so, she said.
One of the big things we debated was whether to call it a retreat or a spirituality center, Kenkel recalled with a smile. Retreat conveys just silence and direction, but spirituality is broader.
