Monophysitism the Egyptian scholar George Bebawi, says: "Dioscorus of Alexandria who rejected the Council of Chalcedon (451) made a huge mistake and I don #39;t know how we can correct it." The current situation of the Coptic Church is a consequence of this move by Dioscorus. But his decision was not abstracted from the context of Egypt in the fifth century. Historically, Egypt was a fertile land for the growth of different philosophical movements, including Gnosticism. Egypt also had a very strong nationalistic movement. After the schism in 451, the Coptic Church, and later the Syrian, expressed strong nationalist sentiments. Copts showed a clear enmity towards everything "Greek". This led to a sort of insulation from the Catholic Church, which was described by Copts as the church of the Emperor and so was labeled as Melkite. As a result of the Coptic rejection of the writings of the Fathers and anything related to Byzantium, the monastic movements in Egypt developed a spiritual alternative movement influenced by the Egyptian Gnostic philosophy which undermined the body and overlooked the fact of Christ #39;s complete incarnation. This shaped Oriental spirituality, with its Monophysite Christology. As explained in the previous articles, this expels deification and any sort of communion between God and man. I tell you, till 2011 we had two departments, science and spirituality. Now especially after the God particle discovery, we have only one thing, Spirituality, which has 2 departments, outer science and inner science. Science is relaxing into spirituality.

Only when we bring the ultimate sense which is the right cognition, the right way of taking cognizance, life gives answers to all our questions. We need to know the basic truth that just the facts and data collected with the five senses and the conclusions derived by them will not be ultimate, it will not be perfect.

In the life, four things are important, the idea one has about one's self, the idea about God, the idea one has about nature and the idea one has about human society. Unfortunately science is able to handle only our ideas about nature and human society, but that is not enough, human beings need right ideas about one's self and God. Spirituality is able to handle all the four and give us the right understanding.

If you sort of, can imagine life as being 99% of the time quite linear, and most of the time you #39;re in a state of neither happiness nor sadness. And then that 1% of the time you experience moments of very crystalised happiness, or crystalised sadness, or loneliness or depression. And I believe all of those moments are very pertinant. It #39;s like I said to you, that for me it #39;s mostly those crystalised moments of melancholy which are more inspirational to me. And in a strange way they become quite beautiful in their own way. Music that is sad, melancholic, depressing, is in a kind of perverse way more uplifting. I find happy music extremely depressing, mostly - mostly quite depressing. It #39;s particularly this happy music that has no spirituality behind it - if it #39;s just sort of mindless party music, it #39;d be quite depressing. But largely speaking, I was the kind of person that responds more to melancholia, and it makes me feel good. And I think the reason for this is, I think if you respond strongly to that kind of art, it #39;s because in a way it makes you feel like you #39;re not alone. So when we hear a very sad song, it makes us realise that we do share this kind of common human experience, and we #39;re all kind of bonded in sadness and melancholia and depression.
