Apollo 17: Last Words on the Moon – Video

Apollo 17: Last Words on the Moon
This video was uploaded on the 40th anniversary of the last people leaving the lunar surface. The footage was recorded in Orbiter Space Flight Simulator and the audio is from NASA. 40 years ago, in December of 1972, NASA sent the last people to the moon. They were Eugene Cernan (Commander), Harrison Schmitt (Lunar Module Pilot), and Ronald Evans (Command Module Pilot). The audio is Gene Cernan #39;s final words before stepping off the lunar surface for the last time. After three explorations of the surface, or EVAs, the crew returned to lunar module Challenger to leave the moon. Cernan #39;s speech: "Bob, this is Gene, and I #39;m on the surface; and, as I take man #39;s last step from the surface, back home for some time to come - but we believe not too long into the future - I #39;d like to just (say) what I believe history will record. That America #39;s challenge of today has forged man #39;s destiny of tomorrow. And, as we leave the Moon at Taurus-Littrow, we leave as we came and, God willing, as we shall return, with peace and hope for all mankind. Godspeed the crew of Apollo 17."From:UnstungViews:52 1ratingsTime:01:07More inFilm Animation

Geminid Meteor Shower – Video

Geminid Meteor Shower
This video shows meteors captured by a wide-field camera at the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center on the night of December 12. There are 141 events; at least 77 of these are Geminids, based on their angular speed and direction of travel. Near the end of the movie, a couple of satellites are visible crossing the field of view. December 13, into the early morning of December 14 is the peak. Flaring brighter than the full moon, this spectacular Geminid lit up the sky above Cartersville, Ga., at 2:29 am EST on the morning of Dec. 14. This is one of the brightest fireballs observed by the NASA network of meteor cameras in over 4 years of operation.From:Kowch737Views:2 1ratingsTime:00:27More inScience Technology

This week in lieu of the iPhone game video I #39;m taking a look at the indie game FTL: Faster Than Light. Capt. Rob, Lt. Steve and Pvt. Ben hop on board The Pumpkin and explore the galaxy! TWITCH.TV: http://www.Twitch.TV TWITTER: http://www.Twitter.com FACEBOOK: http://www.Facebook.com More on FTL (from Wiki) FTL: Faster Than Light is a space flight simulator game incorporating elements of roguelike games, developed by Subset Games. In the game, the player controls a single space craft, attempting to deliver critical information to its allies across several sectors of space while avoiding rebel forces that seek the information for themselves and other hostile entities. As the player continues across the region of space, they gain equipment and currency to improve their ship #39;s offenses, defenses, and sub-systems, expand the ship #39;s capabilities, or additional crew members to boost the performance of the ship. Combat and repair is done in real-time, though the player can pause the game to assess the situation and issue orders; the game otherwise features permadeath scenarios, randomly generating new challenges each time a new game is started.
