Physics of the Future with Michio Kaku – Video

Physics of the Future with Michio Kaku
Theoretical physicist Dr. Michio Kaku discussed where science is taking us over the next century, and presented revolutionary developments in medicine, computers, quantum physics, and space travel. He pointed to four areas which will propel the evolution of science over the next 100 years: biotechnology, artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, and telecommunications. To that end, he surmised that someone from the year 2100 will be able to move things with their mind, possess "near perfect," ageless bodies, travel via flying vehicles propelled by super magnets, and have the ability to create a variety of unique creatures using genetics. This "augmented reality," Kaku said, would allow for scenarios like being able to know all about a person as soon as you meet them and having subtitles printed beneath their face if they are speaking in a foreign language. He noted that such a device would be particularly popular for artists, since they could "conjure up new worlds, because it is in your contact lens. "Virtual reality is for children," he quipped, "but augmented reality is for adults, because it will help us work, play, and meet people." Kaku also detailed how "programmable matter" is leading towards a world where shape shifting could become a reality. He explained that, by creating a charged chip that is the size of a grain of sand, scientists could then program the tiny particles to stick to each other in a myriad of ways. Presently, the chips are being used to create ...From:DiscloseTruthTVViews:293 10ratingsTime:01:16:28More inEducation

Ultra-Ever Dry – Superhydrophobic and oleophobic coating – Video

Ultra-Ever Dry - Superhydrophobic and oleophobic coating
Ultra-Ever Dry is a superhydrophobic (water) and oleophobic (hydrocarbons) coating that will completely repel almost any liquid. Ultra-Ever Dry uses proprietary nanotechnology to coat an object and create a barrier of air on its surface. This barrier repels water, oil and other liquids unlike any coating seen before. The other breakthrough associated with Ultra-Ever Dry is the superior coating adherence and abrasion resistance allowing it to be used in all kinds of applications where durability is required. ll4.me Nanolubricants - , Nobuo Ohmae The technology involved in lubrication by nanoparticles is a rapidly developing scientific area and one that has been watched with interest for the past ten years. Nanolubrication offers a solution to many problems associated with traditional lubricants that contain sulphur and phosphorus; and though for some time the production of nanoparticles was restricted by the technologies available, today synthesis methods have been improved to such a level that it is possible to produce large quantities relatively cheaply and efficiently.Nanolubricants develops a new concept of lubrication, based on these nanoparticles, and along with the authors own research it synthesises the information available on the topic of nanolubrication from existing literature and presents it in a concise form.Describes the many advantages and potential applications of nanotechnology in the tribological field.Offers a full review of the state-of-the-art as well as much original research that is yet unpublished.Includes sections on boundary lubrication by collodal systems, nanolubricants made of metal dichalcogenides, carbon-based nanolubricants, overbased detergent salts, nanolubricants made of metals and boron-based solid nanolubricants and lubrication additives.Authored by highly regarded experts in the field with contributions from leading international academics.Nanolubricants will appeal to postgraduate students, academics and researchers in mechanical ...From:renee0636Views:0 0ratingsTime:00:12More inPeople Blogs

Thinking On Your Feet: Marius Gronnas at TEDxTrondheim – Video

Thinking On Your Feet: Marius Gronnas at TEDxTrondheim
Speakers on the TEDx stage typically spend countless hours rehearsing and perfecting their talks. Not Marius. He improvised his entire TEDx talk, pretending to be an expert on any topic suggested by the audience, ranging from nanotechnology to being bald. To make things more difficult, Marius gave this improvised talk while being blindfolded and barefoot walking on a stage full of mousetraps. This takes "thinking on your feet" to a whole different level! http://www.TEDxTrondheim.com About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)From:TEDxTalksViews:2 0ratingsTime:12:38More inEntertainment

Soft Machines – Video

Soft Machines
ll4.me Soft Machines Enthusiasts look forward to a time when tiny machines reassemble matter and process information with unparalleled power and precision. But is their vision realistic? Where is the science heading? As nanotechnology (a new technology that many believe will transform society in the next one hundred years) rises higher in the news agenda and popular consciousness, there is a real need for a book which discusses clearly the science on which this technology will be based. Whilst it ismost easy to simply imagine these tiny machines as scaled-down versions of the macroscopic machines we are all familiar with, the way things behave on small scales is quite different to the way they behave on large scales. Engineering on the nanoscale will use very different principles to those we areused to in our everyday lives, and the materials used in nanotehnology will be soft and mutable, rather than hard and unyielding. Soft Machines explains in a lively and very accessible manner why the nanoworld is so different to the macro-world which we are all familiar with. Why does nature engineer things in the way it does, and how can we learn to use these unfamiliar principles to create valuable new materials and artefacts which will have a profound effect on medicine, electronics, energy and the environment in the twenty-first century. With a firmer understanding of the likely relationship between nanotechnologyand nature itself, we can gain a much clearer notion of what ...From:aliciahorne985Views:0 0ratingsTime:00:14More inPeople Blogs

Imaging Nanoparticles and Validation of Specificity in In-Vivo Animal Models – Video

Imaging Nanoparticles and Validation of Specificity in In-Vivo Animal Models
New nanoparticles and nanotechnology designed for medical applications require rigorous evaluation both in vitro and in vivo. The purpose of many of these nanoparticles is to improve the treatment of disease through improved specificity, delivery of novel therapeutics, improved delivery of existing therapeutics, or delivery of novel combinations of therapeutics. In other cases, the goal of the nanoparticle may be improved detection or stratification of a disease. In all cases, in vivo imaging provides nanoparticle researchers a route to quickly validate the delivery, specificity, and efficacy of their novel therapeutics and imaging biomarkers in preclinical animal models. This presentation will review how multimodal molecular imaging can rapidly provide researchers a clear understanding of the delivery and efficacy of novel nanoparticles in preclinical animal models. From:BrukerBioSpin PCIViews:4 0ratingsTime:34:31More inScience Technology
