Liberty Mutual to sponsor school trips to USS Constitution

Boston-based Liberty Mutual Insurance said it will now sponsor all free public school field trips to the USS Constitution Museum from September until June 2015.

The museum recently opened its newest interactive exhibit, the Old Ironsides 1812 Discovery Center, which features computer activities simulating shipboard life, interactive lessons about the War of 1812 and its major events, and a large map highlighting personal stories that effect America to this day.

At the USS Constitution Museum, we encourage guests not just to read here, but to do. This is a particularly effective method to use with school groups, for while some learn by reading, some by listening, we all learn by doing, said the museums president Anne Grimes Rand. We are thrilled to be able to help address the needs of our schools and share the singular resources we have developed over time with our public schools, free of charge, thanks to the support and vision of Liberty Mutual Insurance, during this special Bicentennial period.

The U.S. Postal Service also plans to commemorate the bicentennial of the War of 1812 with a newly minted Forever stamp of Old Ironsides that will be unveiled in the Charlestown Navy Yard on Aug. 18.

The image selected by the Postal Service for the stamp is from an early 19th century painting by maritime artist Michele Felice Corne. The painting will be on view for the event at the USS Constitution Museum.

Liberty Mutual had previously announced it was extending its sponsorship its sponsorship of the Boston Pops Fourth of July Fireworks display and concert through 2015.

Liberty Shores to restore stream, wetland buffer

POULSBO If Liberty Shores Assisted Living restores the stream and landscaping in a wetland buffer on its property to its original state, the City of Poulsbo will put the whole situation behind them.

The city put a stop work order on the property in October, finding that a wetland and wetland buffer had been altered illegally. The City Council on Wednesday approved a mitigation restoration plan with Liberty Shores.

City planner Keri Weaver said as long as the restoration is complete and the facility does not conduct any more work without a permit, there will be no penalties.

A guest of a resident reported the disturbed activity to the city in October. This guest, being a biologist, noticed the landscaping had been altered in a wetland buffer Liberty Shores cleared and graded without permits, within the shoreline zone, planted non-native plants, and diverted a stream to avoid erosion and flooding, according to Weaver.

After the city checked on the site again in November, it found that work had continued. The city attorney wrote another stop work letter, informing the owner to contact the city for a mitigation plan or risk civil or criminal penalties.

Thomas Johnston, president and CEO of Northwest Care Management, the owner of Liberty Shores, and the citys planning department have agreed to a plan to resolve the violation, including replanting of native plant species and restoring the original stream configuration, beginning in September. The city will check in with the property to ensure the work is done and no more violations occur.

Liberty Shores manager Sigrid Howard said she could not comment, and Johnston did not return calls for comment.

Liberty-Lynx Preview

After getting off to the best start in WNBA history, the Minnesota Lynx came up short for the first time over the weekend.

They'll try to bounce back Thursday night at home, where they haven't lost since the New York Liberty last came to town.

Minnesota averaged 85.8 points in winning its first 10 games before losing 65-62 at Seattle on Sunday. The Lynx had a chance to send the game into overtime despite trailing by as many as 17 points in the second quarter and shooting 37.5 percent, but Maya Moore missed a deep 3-point attempt as time expired.

"I felt like it was on target, just a little short," Moore said. "With one second, having to inbound it and catch and shoot, I thought it was a great look. But it shouldn't have come down to that."

Moore had a team-high 14 points and Seimone Augustus scored 12 as the Lynx's two leading scorers combined to shoot 10 of 30.

"We felt like there were so many opportunities," Moore added. " ... There were so many things in the entire game that could've changed things. But lesson learned. I think this team will definitely take this one, remember it and use it to help us to be better in the future."

Minnesota now returns home, where it's won 11 straight - including last season's title run - since falling 78-62 to New York on Sept. 2. The Liberty shot 13 of 26 from 3-point range in that game and were led by Leilani Mitchell, who made six 3s and scored 24 points.

New York (4-7) is coming off its fourth win in six games, 73-60 in Atlanta on Tuesday. Cappie Pondexter had 14 points and a season-high 13 assists for the Liberty, who were coming off the most lopsided defeat in franchise history, 97-55 at Connecticut on Friday.

"I brought a great deal of energy tonight, which has been inconsistent with us," Pondexter said. "I feel like when we play with a lot of energy it allows us to play both ends of the floor the way we really want to."

Allowing an Eastern Conference-worst 80.6 points per game, New York held the Dream to 35.3 percent shooting.

Pondexter leads Liberty past Dream

ATLANTA The Libertys awful performance in their last game embarrassed Cappie Pondexter.

She was determined not to let it happen again.

I brought a great deal of energy tonight, which has been inconsistent with us, Pondexter said. I feel like when we play with a lot of energy it allows us to play both ends of the floor the way we really want to.

Pondexter had 14 points and a season-high 13 assists and Essence Carson added 14 points in the Libertys 73-60 victory over the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday night.

The Dream dropped their second straight game with Angel McCoughtry, the WNBAs leading scorer and shot blocker, injured and unable to play.

Sancho Lyttle and Lindsey Harding each finished with 13 points for Atlanta (4-7). Lyttle pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds.

The Liberty (4-7) had plenty of incentive after last Fridays debacle at Connecticut, a 42-point loss that was the worst in team history and included 34-point halftime deficit that was the largest in league history.

The Liberty, who snapped a two-game skid, never trailed after Leilani Mitchell pulled up for a 15-foot fast-break jumper to make it 13-12 late in the first.

We were so hungry for a win, Mitchell said. We were just playing harder. We were taking it easy in the last couple of practices trying to save our legs for this game.

The Liberty went up 36-30 on Pondexters 19-foot fadeaway in transition in the final minute of the second period.

Liberty Mutual Insurance Celebrates Responsibility In Youth Sports By Awarding $2,500 Grants To 15 Sports …

BOSTON, June 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Youth sports organizations and schools appreciate every penny when it comes to shoestring athletic budgets. For many organizations, a lack of funding has resulted in poorly maintained facilities, aged and possibly unsafe equipment, or insufficient resources to enable all families to participate. To address this local need, Liberty Mutual Insurance created the Responsible Sports grants program with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) in 2007, offering organizations and school athletic programs the opportunity to earn funds by championing a community-wide commitment to sportsmanship and responsibility in youth sports.

(Logo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20110607/NE15669LOGO )

Today, Liberty Mutual announces 15 schools and youth sports teams or leagues to each earn $2,500 Responsible Sports grants. These organizations successfully rallied their communities to participate in an online course on mentoring and responsibility in youth sports for coaches and parents at ResponsibleSports.com. Each successful course completion earned a credit for a designated organization and these groups garnered the highest level of participation, based on population size, to earn $2,500 grants:

Large Organizations (100+ players)

Small Organizations (Less than 100 players)

School Athletic Programs

"Liberty Mutual Insurance celebrates these 15 organizations and schools for the values and positive experiences of youth sports they are promoting in their communities," said Greg Gordon, Liberty Mutual Insurance senior vice president, Consumer Marketing. "Responsibility in sports at this level is crucial to shaping youth experiences and teaching life lessons, and we applaud these groups for their commitment and dedication."

Liberty Mutual Insurance now has awarded more than $500,000 in Responsible Sports funding to more than 150 organizations and schools since 2007. Liberty Mutual will make another round of 15 grants available this fall; with youth sports groups eligible to compete for $2,500 in funding beginning September 1.

Nominate a Responsible Sports Moment of 2012

For the second year, Liberty Mutual and PCA are searching for demonstrations of the power, impact and inherent goodness at the youth sports and amateur sports levels with the "Top 10 Responsible Sports Moments" of 2012. Now through November 15, coaches and parents can nominate a moment that celebrate the positive values that sports instill in young people at http://www.ResponsibleSports.com or by visiting program's Facebook page, http://www.Facebook.com/ResponsibleSports.

Liberty Global, Inc. (LBTYA)

We downgrade our recommendation on Liberty Global, Inc. (LBTYA) to Underperform based on two factors (1) an extremely high-level of current valuation of the company, and (2) precipitous macro-economic fluctuations in the European region, which is the core business area of the company.

Liberty Global reported mixed financial results for the first quarter of 2012. Though revenue beats the Zacks Consensus Estimate, net income fell below it. Moreover, business integration risks persist as Liberty Global has recently acquired several related businesses.

With respect to our fiscal 2013 earnings estimate, the stock is trading at 22.4x, a huge premium to both the S&P 500 average and the industry average. We believe the stock is currently overpriced and thus downgrade our rating to Underperform with a target price of $42, based on 35.6x our fiscal 2012 earnings estimate.

Liberty Twp. lands 2013 housing showcase

By Denise Wilson, Staff Writer 5:30 PM Friday, June 15, 2012

LIBERTY TWP. The Carriage Hill development in Liberty Twp. has been named the Homearama 2013 location, according to the Home Builders Association of Greater Cincinnati.

Dan Dressman, executive director of the Home Builders Association of Greater Cincinnati, said the development located on a 400-acre homestead along Ohio 747, between Princeton and Millikin roads was chosen for the home showcasing event scheduled for June 8-23, 2013, for several reasons.

We go through a bidding process for developers and we choose a site based on a whole lot of different factors: previous home sales from the site, interest from the builder community primarily and basically, the presentation that the developer makes, he said.

Its really a beautiful community and weve gotten a lot of interest in that community already from builders so were anticipated a very successful show there next year.

The development, which features a landscape of lakes, streams and woodlands spread over the 400 acres, for nearly three decades has been the private estate of the Terry Family.

In 2009, to ensure their legacy, the family established Liberty Land Company to spearhead their implementation of a master plan for a residential community for Carriage Hill.

Randy Terry, co-manager of the property along with his brother, Todd, said his family applied for the Homearama last year, which was awarded to the Glenview Farm estate in Foxborough at Hamilton Mason Road and Ohio 747 in West Chester Twp.

With the strong support for our community, it somewhat ended up a foregone conclusion that Carriage Hill would be the selection for 2013. Its exciting in Liberty and West Chester to host the event. It should be a great feature for our community both in the township and Carriage Hill, he said.

Liberty Twp. Trustee Pat Hiltman said Homearama is no stranger to the township.

Charles scores 20 as Sun shut down Liberty

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) The New York Liberty caught the Connecticut Sun at the wrong time.

Tina Charles scored 20 points and the Sun had a record-setting first half en route to a 97-55 victory over the Liberty on Friday night, handing New York its worst loss in franchise history.

Mistie Mims and Renee Montgomery scored 13 points each, Asjha Jones had 10 points and eight rebounds and Kara Lawson also scored 10 points for the Sun (7-2).

All 11 players scored for Connecticut, which led 61-27 at halftime to set the league record for the largest lead at the break - besting Seattle's 33-point margin (60-27) at the half against Tulsa on Aug. 7, 2010.

It was also the Sun's biggest margin of victory, topping their 81-47 win over Washington on Aug. 26, 2005.

Connecticut was coming off an 87-81 loss to Los Angeles on Wednesday night in a game the Sun led with a little over a minute left.

''If you look at our record and see our two losses, we think we could've been undefeated,'' Connecticut's Kalana Greene said. ''It kind of ticks us off. ... The beauty of this part of the season is you play games almost every day. . You have a short-term memory and you get to kind of let off your energy and frustration on the next team.''

With team owner James Dolan sitting courtside, New York (3-7) eclipsed its 37-point defeat to Seattle on July 22, 2006.

''I don't want to take anything away from the Sun,'' Liberty coach John Whisenant said. ''They played well, but to lose like this, we had to play pretty bad. It was just a combination (of things). I've never lost a game like that in my coaching life.''

Essence Carson scored 10 of her 14 points in the first half for New York and was the team's only scorer in double figures. Liberty leading scorer Cappie Pondexter finished with seven points, all in the second half.

Liberty Gold Corp. Acquires Interest In McCord Creek Gold Project In Prime Alaskan Region

PHOENIX, June 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --Liberty Gold Corp. (OTCBB: LBGO; "Liberty Gold" and/or "the Company") is pleased to announce it has acquired a 60% interest* in the ~2,218-acre McCord Creek Property gold project in central Alaska's Tolovana Mining District. Liberty Gold will be the project's operator.

The McCord Creek project is comprised of 14 State mining claims located 70 miles northwest of Fairbanks in the Tintina Gold Belt, which has produced nearly 30 million ounces (Moz) of gold to date[1] and has experienced accelerated gold exploration, development, and mining activity over the years.[2]

The McCord Creek property is also located within the eastern extension of the Livengood gold district, and immediately adjoins the eastern side of International Tower Hill Mines' (ITH) Livengood Property. The Money Knob deposit on ITH's Livengood Property represents a resource estimate of 20.6 Moz gold (16.5 Moz Measured & Indicated; 4.1 Moz Inferred),[3] making it one of the largest gold deposits discovered in 20 years.[2] To the southeast of the McCord Creek property is Kinross Gold's Fort Knox mine, which produces over $1 million of gold equivalent per day.[4] Also to the southeast is the Pogo mine, which produced 324,722 troy ounces of gold in 2011.[5]

According to a 2012 technical report by David Adams, B.S., M.S., CPG, Liberty Gold's McCord Creek property exhibits 5 gold-in-soil anomalous zones with the maximum soil value exceeding 100 ppb gold. The 2 largest anomalies lie within the same sedimentary and volcanic package of rocks that contain ITH's Money Knob deposit.[2] All anomalous zones warrant additional exploration to pursue a deposit of similar nature to the Money Knob deposit.

As such, the Company is currently developing an exploration plan to evaluate the prospect's mineral potential. A phased exploration approach involving at least 2 field seasons will be necessary to accomplish an evaluation of the prospect. The target for the McCord Creek property is a dispersed gold system similar to ITH's Money Knob deposit, and possibly a nickel-platinum disseminated deposit. A minimum target size for gold would be 3 to 5 Moz contained in a bulk tonnage grading in the order of 1 gram per tonne (gpt). The potential net present value (NPV) for geological exploration targets of this magnitude is in the order of $1B to $3B.[2]

To the immediate east of Liberty Gold's McCord Creek property, ITH has announced plans calling for drilling 3,000 meters in 10 core holes focused on making new gold deposit discoveries on their Livengood property, with results expected throughout the summer and fall of 2012.[3] ITH's planned initial exploration drill holes lie within ~1 to 2 miles of Liberty Gold's McCord Creek property.

Lynn Harrison, Liberty Gold's President and CEO, commented: "The McCord Creek Property acquisition has enabled us to effectively establish a presence in this proven region of Alaska. Now we can proceed to build on our knowledge of the property's full mineral potential through further exploration and development activities."
