McAfee Stands By $1 Million Bitcoin Price Prediction By 2020

John McAfee, the eccentric cryptocurrency guru and former cybersecurity entrepreneur, stands by his $1 million Bitcoin (BTC) price prediction by 2020. In a recent interview with Cointelegraph, McAfee discussed the current state of crypto and reiterated that his famous price prediction of a $1 million Bitcoin is conservative.

Despite the price of Bitcoin being 72% under the infamous McAfee Dick Line, McAfee remains calm and optimistic about his prediction.

During the Cointelegraph interview, McAfee was asked how he makes a prediction for the future value of Bitcoin.

He explained:

Its very simple, Im a mathematician. As you run the numbers, the number of people using Bitcoin and the number of transactions, its escalating tremendously. Thats the true value The true value is going to eventually be based upon usage and if you track the usage curve, a million dollars by the end of 2020 is conservative.

During the interview, McAfee also touched on his thoughts of the current financial system and how it is largely controlled by centralized bodies and institutions. He believes this system has worked for some in the past, but for many today, the current system which allows for the inflation or deflation of currencies means were not free.

In the interview, McAfee said:

As more and more people use cryptocurrencies, they flee fiat cryptocurrencies, which devalues them. Fiat currencies will be on their last legs in 5 years.

As McAfee believes the value of fiat currencies will become increasingly devalued, the real value of $1 million could be drastically different than it is today, which adds a bit of skepticism to his prediction.

Although McAfees comments on his $1 million Bitcoin price prediction was a hot topic during the interview, he had more interesting things to say, specifically regarding his plan to run for the U.S. presidency in 2020.

McAfee previously ran for president in 2016 on the libertarian platform, which gave him the opportunity to say what he wanted to say on the national stage and talk about lapses in cyber security.

This time however, he wants to use the national stage to talk about personal freedom and how cryptocurrency can help us achieve that.

He then elaborated, stating that his intention is not to become President of the United States, but rather to inform the public at large about decentralized cryptocurrencies. In response to a question of whether he would use the stage to talk about cryptocurrencies, McAfee stated, Thats all Im going to talk about. See, I dont want to be president. I couldnt be no ones going to elect me president, please God. However, Ive got the right to run.

John McAfee: How No One Got Laid Through Ashley Madison …

John McAfee is one of the most influential commentators on cybersecurity anywhere in the world. His new venture Future Tense Central focuses on security and personal privacy-related products.McAfee provides regular insight on global hacking scandals and internet surveillance, and has become a hugely controversial figure following his time in Belize, where he claims to have exposed corruption at the highest level before fleeing the country amid accusations of murder (the Belize government is currently not pursuing any accusations against him).

No one got laid on Ashley Madison or nearly no one. Clearly, Noel Biderman, chairman of Avid Life Media, lucked out. As to the rest, even Josh Duggar appears to have hooked up outside of Ashley Madison at a strip club to be precise. Tens ofmillions of men paid up to $1,000 or more to find a cheating housewife, and instead, found a clever bot with which to converse.

I was a member but I didnt score. Do I still get a prize?

I am a firm believer in empirical research. Nothing works like the words from the horses mouth, so to speak. So I wrote an article for Silicon Angle giving the top ten alibis for why someones name would be on the Ashley Madison dump, and then included an email address where people could ask for advice if they had been a member and feared their data would imminently be released. I also included offers for advice and and email addresses in all my social media. I received 863 email requests for advice. All of them were male. None of them had hooked up with a woman. The typical request ran as follows:

John,

I would sure appreciate some advice on the hack.

I did it. I had the account came and went from it over various points in the last 6 years. Paid to be a member and my cc details are out In total about $350-400 over 6 years. Emailed, chatted and certainly participated in some tawdry conversations but didnt physically follow through. While I imagine that distinction only matters to me since it really identifies me as a failed cheater but that is what I was looking for, the hunt, the thrill, and the safe experience of meeting someone online.

Your questions: 1. I do want to continue the relationship. I like being a husband to my wife, I like being a full-time father. 2. I am trying to answer this one honestly to myself and the answer is I do. I have just not been honest with myself, as is evident with 6 years of playing on AM. 3. I do believe I understand human kind. I do believe we are all capable of anything. I do hope for compassion from everyone.

Please share.

The three questions referred to questions I asked advice-seekers to answer prior to contacting me:

You should ask yourself whether:

1. You feel certain that you want to continue in the relationship that you are trying to save. 2. That you understand your own needs, wants, and desires well enough to answer question One correctly. 3. That you understand the nature of human kind well enough to not expect your significant other to not display the same traits you have just displayed in your own behavior.

My response in this instance was as follows:

I advise that you be as open and honest with your spouse as you just were with me. The fact that you did not follow through will mean a great deal. Everyone indulges in fantasy. I believe that is all that you did, albeit an expensive fantasy.

Coming clean will relieve your burden and I do not believe it will damage your relationship. Give it a try.

Not all requests were as self-chiding. For example, one person was not even sure that he had become a member:

My email address from a previous employer shows up on the Trustify search tool. I do not recall creating an account on Ashley Madison. I do recall creating an account on Adult Friend Finder. I may have an account on Ashley Madison also, I do not know. I cannot utilize the password retrieval system to log in since I no longer work at the email address in the databases and have no access to that account. I have tried many times to log into the sites by entering my typical passwords with no success. Please help. I need to know what information is out there so I can begin to approach this this subject with the people I love.

My exposed email address is xxxxxxxxxxx@xxxxxxx

I advised him to say nothing yet, since he was using an ex-employers email address and it would be easy to deny any potential allegations. But this individual too, on further discussion, had hooked up with no one, ever, online.

31 million men, each of whom paid hundreds, sometimes thousands, of dollars and I am unable to find anyone who scored. At least through the Ask me for help technique.

I then went back to my social media (a few tens of thousands of followers not huge, but enough to expect some kind of response considering the tens of millions of men who were on Ashley Madison) and prominently posted the following:

If any of my followers had an account with Ashley Madison and actually scored, please contact me privately through the message system or email me at mcafeehelps001@gmail.com. I will ensure complete privacy and anonymity. This is an important request. Feel free to use burner emails if it makes you more comfortable.

I received fewer than 100 responses mostly from men, yet, again, none of them had actually hooked up with a woman. Typical of the types of responses: I was a member but I didnt score. Do I still get a prize? A few women submitted equally facetious messages.

I anticipated the responses I obtained from my two limited tests, and would have been shocked had they been otherwise. But its still good to test any hypothesis.

Heres why none of the men hooked up: There was no one there to hook up with. Or nearly no one.

Annalee Newitz, in a recent Gizmodo article, did an outstanding analysis of the Ashley Madison membership profiles and concluded that fewer than 12,000 women were actually using the site. My own analysis concluded that the number was fewer than 1,400 women. Even using Annalees more conservative estimate, that means that there was one femailmember for each 3,000 male members a 3,000:1 ratio. Using my numbers, the ratio of men to women would be 20,000:1. It would be nearly impossible for the average male member to hook up with a woman using either ratio.

How could these numbers be real considering that there were 5.5 million women members listed in the data dump?

From the dump it is clear that the overwhelming majority of female profiles were created by a bot or by humans acting in a bot capacity. This squares well with ex-Ashley Madison employee Doriana Silvas lawsuit claiming repetitive movement injuries caused by the companys demands that she create thousands of fake female employee profiles. Bots were clearly used later on as can be seen by the 10,000 fake female profiles who have an Ashley Madison email address: 100@asleymadison.com, 200@ashleymadison.com, 300@ashleymadison.com, etc. The entire Ashley Madison company employs far fewerthan 10,000 people, by the way.

The Ashley Madison numbers also square well with the Adult Friend Finder hack which disclosed an equivalent gender disparity, once professional sex workers were factored out of the equation, a few months back.

Why would this be important to me? From a social engineering standpoint it is critical. The Handbook of social engineering is in its infancy, and our understanding of gender anomalies is essential to the effectiveness of Social Engineering as a tool. The creators of Ashley Madison understood this well enough to structure their business around the principle that men would be charged for the service and women would be allowed to join for free. To be able to say that men are thousands of times more likely to join a purely sex oriented site than women is a huge gender indicator, and gender, more than any other single factor, is a necessary determinant of any successful social engineering project.

It is regrettable that we must resort to generalizations in order to help solve cybercrimes, but unfortunately, in realty they do exist. Fewer than one one man in fourcan correctly recall the date on which Valentines Day occursless than 25 percent. Yet more than 97.5 percent of women know the date. Over 80percentof men would be happy if Valentines Day were dropped as a holiday and fewer than 3 percent of women feel the same. Men generally believe that infidelity is a necessary element of marriage (81percent), and fewer than (0.4 percent) of women feel the same.

These are real statistics that I have gathered over the years to aid me in identifying gender. All of these numbers I have arrived at through empirical testing, just as I arrived at the numbers above for sex-site membership. It is regrettable that such diversity exists given the current politically correct society in which I am forced to live, yet they are real and cant be avoided if we are ever to able to cach cybercriminals.

For, example it would seem foolish to offer a woman free membership in a sex site asa small bribe in return for information, but for a man, it might work. likewise, if we have a perpetrator who frequently accesses a sex-related site, we can almost certainly assume he is a male. It is generalizations like the above, taken together, that can give us a near certain guarantee of the gender of the perpetrator.

JOHN MCAFEE: Join the crusade to save our country …

John McAfee, U.S. anti-virus software guru, addresses a news conference outside the Supreme Court of Justice in Guatemala City.Reuters/William GularteTech entrepreneur John McAfee is running for president in the US as a member of the Libertarian Party. This is an op-ed article he wrote and gave us permission to run.

This article may disturb some people. For that I apologize in advance, but I feel compelled, at this point, to step outside the narrow path of acceptability. I am moved to bare my heart and confess my thoughts.

I am writing this to the disaffected, the disenfranchised, the angry and frustrated. I am speaking to the heart of Americans who feel alienated from the government that we ourselves created.

I'm speaking to those of you who may have left the comfort of your home on a dark night and wandered down lonely streets, or those who have glimpsed, in the people closest to you, the depth and mysteries within that person, and felt an exquisite communion - even for a moment.

I'm speaking to the people who have questioned, and irrespective of the cost, have sought answers, or to those who have traveled extensively and seen and experienced ways of living which seem alien to our culture.

And I'm speaking to those of you who have viewed themselves in the mirror of your own existence, and experienced a profound epiphany of self revelation - or who at least looked with the hope of finding one.

I will tell you who I am - without polish or apologies - without pride or shame, and I will tell you why, after 70 years of inhabiting this planet, I am speaking out.

Everything of value in life I have learned from experience. I am not a great student or a great reader. I was thirty years old before I read my first book, cover to cover. It was Darwin's "Origin of Species". I was dealing drugs in Mexico at the time and it was the only English language book I could get my hands on.

I was arrested in Mexico and severely punished for my actions. It was the first time that I fully understood the value of freedom and privacy, because in prison, both are removed in their entirety.

I have traveled extensively, and through experience have learned that America's interference in the internal affairs of foreign nations comes at a price. While living in Belize, one of the most corrupt nations in the world, I was approached by a local politician who politely asked for a 2 million dollar donation to the ruling political party. I declined.

Belize Shutterstock

One week later, in March of 2012, an elite Belizean paramilitary force, who had been trained by the FBI in Quantico, stormed my property. They shot my dog in front of my eyes with an AR-15 supplied by the U.S. State Department. They destroyed a half million dollars worth of my property and then left.

The following day the same political representative stopped by to apologize profusely for the "mistaken identity" raid, and then asked if I had reconsidered my donation. I suggested that he get the f--- off of my property. Thus began my war with Belize that ended in the murder of my neighbor and the resulting manhunt for me that garnered international attention.

I understand full well what twisted webs our State Department can weave.

I learned that our bodies belong to ourselves, and that no government can own our bodies.

Throughout history, all attempts to criminalize what we do to or with our bodies have not in any way changed what we choose to do with our bodies. The criminalization of drug use has not diminished our consumption of drugs. It has merely created a brutal drug cartel and filled our prisons with nonviolent citizens. No legislation that attempts to control what we do to, or with our bodies can succeed. We should have learned this with our failed attempt to criminalize alcohol consumption in the 30's.

Orange County (California) sheriff's deputies dumping illegal alcohol, 1932 Wikimedia Commons

My own understanding of this issue came from a variety of experiences, but it was my wife who brought things fully into focus.

My wife was forced into prostitution at the age of 20. For ten years she was beaten, threatened and abused on a daily basis. She was isolated from her family and friends and forced into unspeakable situations. She was a virtual slave. Her pimp, brutal and cruel, like every pimp, was the agent of these horrors.

The profession of pimping is created by the criminalization of prostitution. Sex workers are abused by customers because they know that the women can't call the police for help. A tough pimp offers the illusion of protection when in reality sex workers are still abused by their customers. In fact, the police themselves frequently force sex workers into performing unwilling sexual acts to avoid being arrested.

I personally rescued Janice three and a half years ago. I married her and she is sitting by my side now as I write this. I love her deeply.

I learned from experience that we must keep our agreements, because there is no other way to have a peaceful society. I learned that we cannot harm one another or unjustly take each others property, because I have been harmed much and much has been taken from me.

I learned that any experiment of value in this life will be carried out at our own expense, and that every action, good or bad, has its consequences.

These are the realities of life as I have experienced them.

It is my belief that any government created by people should accept the same realities that it's people must live by and act accordingly.

I now ask you - is our government acting on the same principles that you and I must live by?

Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. Getty/Brendon Hoffman

Are you, when you have no money, able to print your own, as our government, in effect, does? Are you able to change what is right or wrong at your whim as our Congress does through the passage of conflicting legislation as each new administration comes and goes? Do you have the right to spy on whomever you choose? Do you exist, parasitically, off of the labors of others?

We need to look closely at these and the myriad other ways in which our government does not reflect the hearts and minds of it's citizens.

Our government was created to serve us. We did not imbue it with the power to be our mother and father, deciding what is best for us and in what manner we should live. We did not create it to be our boss or our guardian. As adults, we need none of the above. But our government has obviously assumed those powers. Slowly and insidiously. If the spirit of America is to survive, there must be decisive change.

I am running for President and I am a member of the Libertarian party. The Libertarian Party stands for Freedom, Privacy and Personal Responsibility. Libertarians believe that government best serves by leaving us alone to live our lives as we see fit.

Libertarians believe that our bodies belong to ourselves, not to the government. We believe that we should not harm one another and that we should not take each others stuff. We believe our current government is engorged, bloated and inefficient and that it no longer serves us. We believe in the right to freedom and privacy. We believe that we are the last hope for this failing country.

I have bared my heart and soul to you. If doing so has been of any value, then at least consider investigating the Libertarian Party, and perhaps you may even be moved to join this crusade to save our country.

‘The Bitcoin (BTC) Bull Market IS Coming,’ Reassures John …

In the words of John McAfee, the price of Bitcoin (BTC) has increased by more than $1,000 in one week. Many have speculated if this could be the beginning of the much anticipated Bitcoin Bull market. Others have labeled it asanother Bull trap. We have been victims of Bull traps before and we have celebrated an increment in the value of BTC, only to see it once again decline in front of our eyes. We have even speculated the possibility of Bitcoin manipulation.

But John McAfee reassures us that the Bitcoin Bull market IS coming in the following tweet.

McAfee is right in that on Sunday, the price of BTC was hovering around the $6,400 mark. Three days later, on the 18th of July, the same BTC is currently trading at $7,444 and looks like it will continue gaining into the weekend. In the last 24 hours, BTC has gained by an incredible 10%.

Historically speaking, and looking at the price of Bitcoin at exactly one year ago, we find that BTC was valued at around $2,500 last July. This price would gradually increase as the months passed and as we approached the holiday season last year. Around Thanksgiving last year, BTC was valued at $10,000 indicating a percentage increase of 300% from July levels.Taking this figure of 300%, we can, therefore, predict that by the time we get to Thanksgiving this year, BTC will be valued at around $29,600 (7,400 x 300% + 7,400).

The price of BTC would then peak to $20,000 on December 17th right before BTC Futures started being offered by the CME Group and the CBOE.

The only similar event that could make BTC pump that hard, is the current BTC ETF filing by the CBOE at the SEC. The final verdict should be out by the end of August. Some crypto enthusiasts had initially predicted that wed know by the 10th of August with others saying that it will not be on the 10th.

10% gains per day is a massive increment in value. This has never been seen before in the crypto markets. Let us say that the SEC will announce the Bitcoin ETF verdict in 30 days. If BTC were to increase by 10% daily till then and using simple interest, we get a value equal to the one estimated for Thanksgiving this year: $29,600.

in conclusion, anything is possible in the crypto-markets. Therefore, let us sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride! John McAfee has reassured us that the Bitcoin Bull run is coming and that BTC could get to $1 Million by the end of 2020.

John McAfee: "The Bull Market IS coming" – Ethereum World News

John McAfee is a highly controversial person not only because of his peculiar way of life but also because of his opinions and his direct way of speaking. The founder of McAfee Inc. and CEO of MGT Capital Investments Inc. has had a very active life in recent months: He said he will run for president, confronted the SEC, called for a boycott of central banks and exchanges, and just survived an assassination attempt.

However, one of the things Mr. McAfee is well known for in the world of cryptos is because of his famous predictions and his bullish stance towards Bitcoin (BTC) when analyzing its long-term performance.

McAfee is one of the most important Bullish influencers, even in bearish times such as those that have been experienced throughout the year, and he has never backed down from his predictions, remaining not only enthusiastic but also assertive to his followers about the future vision of Bitcoins (BTC) price.

On July 17, Mr. McAfee again caused a Twitter buzz when he wrote a euphoric tweet that soon surpassed several thousand likes.

Despite the high volatility of Bitcoin (BTC), McAfees optimism seems to be entirely valid. In more technical terms, other analysts like Tom Lee have mentioned that Bitcoin could be in front of a Bull Run.

John McAfee is known for making one of the most bullish predictions about the price of Bitcoin. The McAfee Line shows that despite the current behavior of Bitcoin prices, to reach 1 Million USD in 2020, Bitcoin should currently be quoted at over 13k.

McAfee has advised its followers not to sell their cryptos. Other notable personalities of the crypto-verse have widely shared this hodler feeling. Recently, Charlie Lee, creator of Litecoin, recommended not selling the Bitcoins and in fact considers it crucial to have this cryptocurrency over any other altcoin.

John McAfee has always been very confident in his predictions, and being a known influencer allows him to contribute to these excellent results actively.

Previously, John McAfee used to tweet about the use of some altcoins. These immediately increased their value in the markets. A few days ago, John McAfee commented that he was going to stop this practice due to legal threats.

Bitcoin has been growing steadily over the last few days. The Heikin Ashi sails show a possible bullish trend, and although some analysts mention that Bitcoin has already reached the minimum levels of 2018, it is still too early to make predictions with a higher degree of certainty.

John McAfee’s Warning About That Presidential Alert – The …

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Yesterday, the first Presidential Alert was sent to phones all across the country. Theories and screenshots took over the internet shortly thereafter.

But one of these theories, in particular, comes from a source that is especially credible with regard to cybersecurity: John McAfee.

Lets take a quick look at what other folks were saying before we get into McAfees assertion.

Before the alert ever came through, three people in New York were suing to stop it.

The activists filed the suit last week in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, arguing that the system violates their free speech rights and constitutes an unconstitutional seizure of their electronic devices

Wireless phone users have the ability to opt out of most alerts sent under the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System, run by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. While some users can choose not to receive regional messages and so-called Amber Alerts regarding missing or endangered children, under federal rules, receipt of the top-level presidential alerts is mandatory.

In the new lawsuit, J.B. Nicholas, Kristine Rakowsky and Liane Nikitovich contend that the system will effectively turn them into government loudspeakers that would allow Trump or others to disseminate propaganda. (source)

Since the alert went out, it appears that their request for a preliminary injunction was not approved.

The motive behind their suit was political, as opposed to constitutional.

Nicholas, Rakowsky and Nikitovich accuse Trump of disseminating weaponized disinformation on Twitter and say they dont wish to receive text messages, or messages of any kind, on any topic or subject, from Defendant Trump.(source)

And they werent the only ones who were triggered by the alert. All across social media, people bemoaned the fact that the wording was Presidential Alert.

On the opposite side of the political spectrum, members of the group QAnon predicted this would be an announcement that Trump had defeated the Deep State.

They seemto be cheering for a martial-law-like purge of those who dissent against President Trump.

Some speculated that Trump would use the vehicle to announce the imminent confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, or the firing of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, or even the broadcasting of arrests of high-ranking Democrats.(source)

When none of these things was forthcoming, QAnon believers consoled themselves with the belief that the whole thing was a coded message just for them.

Believers inQAnona conspiracy theory based on a series of internet clues posted by an anonymous character named Q that posits a world in which Trump and the military are engaged in ceaseless, secret war with globalist Democratic pedophilesthink the text could mark the start of The Storm, a fantastical MAGA dream in which Trumps political enemies will be arrested and tried at military tribunals.

That is how we will receive orders if all else fails, wrote one QAnon believer on the 8Chan internet forum. We are the next generation Minutemen! Standing by Sir!

SO HAPPY! wrote another. THANK YOU 45!

QAnon diehards cheered it as the perfect way for Trump to test how to deliver earth-shattering news to the entire country. On the internet forum 8Chan, QAnon fans also noted that the test message was 17 words longa significant number for believers in the conspiracy theory, because Q is the 17th letter of the alphabet.

Others focused on the portion of the message that said no action is needed, which they saw as an echo of their motto: Trust the plan. That section of the test message, they believed, was a sign that Trump and the military are in control of the government and would soon settle all the countrys problems. (source)

John McAfee had a different opinion about the Presidential Alert and its positively dystopian.

Well, thats not good.

And this theory has a lot more credibility because McAfee is, in fact, the big Kahuna of cybersecurity. McAfee is a British-American who is a computer programmer and entrepreneur. He created McAfee Antivirus back in the 80s, and though he sold his interest in the company, still keeps his finger on the pulse of cybersecurity and politics.Hes already announced that hes taking a serious run at the 2020 presidential nomination on the Libertarian ticket.

In fact, McAfee is known as one of the top cyber security experts in the world. And hes known for bluntly telling unpleasant truths that nobody wants to believe.

In 2016, he wrote:

Few people are aware of the cybersecurity risks that surround them full time.

If you own a newSamsung TV, its likely constantly recording every word that is spoken in its vicinity, and these recordings are being sent to unnamed third parties.

If you own a car newer than two years old, chances are that hackers have already figured out how to take full control of it while you are driving down the highway. Last year, a brand newJeepwas hacked into by hackers hundreds of miles away and the Jeep was forced off the road by the hackers.

If youfly on an airplane that provides Internet access, hackers anywhere in the world can take control of the plane and alter its course and speed, and perhaps even bring it down.

Medical devicessuch as pacemakers, medical monitors, and other care-critical devices can be hacked into and patients placed into life-threatening situations.

Ourmobile devicesare ubiquitously used as spy devices by everyone from our NSA to bored hackers in Uzbekistan. (source)

And now hes telling us that the Presidential Alert just unlocked access to all our phones.

Given his track record, I tend to believe him.

Do you think theres something dark going on with the whole Presidential alert thing? Are you concerned about the security on your phone now? Did you have any issues after the alert?

Blockchain wins the John McAfee Award for Destroying Time and …

Blockchain gaming is one of those technologies that no one is excited about except for a handful of startups and maybe GamesBeat lead writer Dean Takahashi. Blockchain, of course, is the innovation that powers cryptocurrencies like bitcoin. When it comes to gaming, however, a number of companies are promising that it will well, I dont know. Mostly, it just sounds like people are trying to make new platforms to do a lot of stuff that Steam already handles, like ownership of digital items.

This is why blockchain gaming has won the John McAfee Award for Destroying Time and Wealth. This is one of the accolades we handed out as part of The Bad Awards for our GamesBeat Rewind 2018

You can listen to us discuss this award in the video above, or check it out as part of our entire Bad Awards category in the podcast below:

John McAfee ran the company that created the McAfee antivirus software, and now he doesnt. Instead, he now spends his time like any bizarre billionaire: evading police questioning regarding an alleged murder in Belize, running for president of the United States, and investing in cryptocurrencies.

In December 2017, McAfee grew frustrated with people doubting the long-term viability of cryptocurrencies.

Bitcoin now at $16,600, he tweeted. Those of you in the old school who believe this is a bubble simply have not understood the new mathematics of the blockchain, or you did not care enough to try. Bubbles are mathematically impossible in this new paradigm. So are corrections and all else.

Ignoring that it would be very bad for literally anything if pricing corrections were impossible, that tweet did not age well. Since then, Bitcoin has lost 75 percent of its value. It is now trading at $4,000.

As someone who write about games and the business of games, I get a lot of pitches about blockchain gaming. I started ignoring those emails months ago. And the reason for that is because the technology is almost entirely meaningless at this point. A lot of companies are trying to make it happen, and thats fine. But not a single one of those startups has made a compelling argument to consumers, game developers, or publishers.

That doesnt mean these businesses are short on hypotheticals. They all have big ideas about the potential for the blockchain. It could decentralize ownership of digital items, and that is an interesting idea. Developers could also potentially use blockchain tech to run tamper-resistant online worlds without requiring servers. Instead, games would run on local machines, and then the blockchain would keep track of any changes.

I think these ideas have potential. So now, why arent these startups building products to prove that this is filling a need? I think its likely because that need doesnt exist at least not in a way that is consistent with the amount of noise companies are trying to make about it.

So Im going to continue ignoring blockchain gaming. Ill start paying attention again if anyone makes a product that people actually care about.

JOHN MCAFEE: I’ll decrypt the San Bernardino phone free of …

Antivirus software founder John McAfee in Miami Beach, Florida.AP/Alan DiazCybersecurity expert John McAfee is running for president in the US as a member of the Libertarian Party. This is an op-ed article he wrote and gave us permission to run.

Using an obscure law, written in 1789 the All Writs Act the US government has ordered Apple to place a back door into its iOS software so the FBI can decrypt information on an iPhone used by one of the San Bernardino shooters.

It has finally come to this. After years of arguments by virtually every industry specialist that back doors will be a bigger boon to hackers and to our nation's enemies than publishing our nuclear codes and giving the keys to all of our military weapons to the Russians and the Chinese, our government has chosen, once again, not to listen to the minds that have created the glue that holds this world together.

This is a black day and the beginning of the end of the US as a world power. The government has ordered a disarmament of our already ancient cybersecurity and cyberdefense systems, and it is asking us to take a walk into that near horizon where cyberwar is unquestionably waiting, with nothing more than harsh words as a weapon and the hope that our enemies will take pity at our unarmed condition and treat us fairly.

Any student of world history will tell you that this is a dream. Would Hitler have stopped invading Poland if the Polish people had sweetly asked him not to do so? Those who think yes should stand strongly by Hillary Clinton's side, whose cybersecurity platform includes negotiating with the Chinese so they will no longer launch cyberattacks against us.

The FBI, in a laughable and bizarre twist of logic, said the back door would be used only once and only in the San Bernardino case.

Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, replied:

The government suggests this tool could only be used once, on one phone. But that's simply not true. Once created, the technique could be used over and over again, on any number of devices. In the physical world, it would be the equivalent of a master key, capable of opening hundreds of millions of locks from restaurants and banks to stores and homes. No reasonable person would find that acceptable.

The government is asking Apple to hack our own users and undermine decades of security advancements that protect our customers including tens of millions of American citizens from sophisticated hackers and cybercriminals. The same engineers who built strong encryption into the iPhone to protect our users would, ironically, be ordered to weaken those protections and make our users less safe.

AP

No matter how you slice this pie, if the government succeeds in getting this back door, it will eventually get a back door into all encryption, and our world, as we know it, is over. In spite of the FBI's claim that it would protect the back door, we all know that's impossible. There are bad apples everywhere, and there only needs to be in the US government. Then a few million dollars, some beautiful women (or men), and a yacht trip to the Caribbean might be all it takes for our enemies to have full access to our secrets.

Cook said:

The FBI may use different words to describe this tool, but make no mistake: Building a version of iOS that bypasses security in this way would undeniably create a backdoor. And while the government may argue that its use would be limited to this case, there is no way to guarantee such control.

The fundamental question is this: Why can't the FBI crack the encryption on its own? It has the full resources of the best the US government can provide.

With all due respect to Tim Cook and Apple, I work with a team of the best hackers on the planet. These hackers attend Defcon in Las Vegas, and they are legends in their local hacking groups, such as HackMiami. They are all prodigies, with talents that defy normal human comprehension. About 75% are social engineers. The remainder are hardcore coders. I would eat my shoe on the Neil Cavuto show if we could not break the encryption on the San Bernardino phone. This is a pure and simple fact.

And why do the best hackers on the planet not work for the FBI? Because the FBI will not hire anyone with a 24-inch purple mohawk, 10-gauge ear piercings, and a tattooed face who demands to smoke weed while working and won't work for less than a half-million dollars a year. But you bet your ass that the Chinese and Russians are hiring similar people with similar demands and have been for many years. It's why we are decades behind in the cyber race.

Participants in the 28th Chaos Communication Congress computer-hacker conference in 2011 in Berlin. Adam Berry/Getty Images

Cyberscience is not just something you can learn. It is an innate talent. The Juilliard School of Music cannot create a Mozart. A Mozart or a Bach, much like our modern hacking community, is genetically created. A room full of Stanford computer science graduates cannot compete with a true hacker without even a high-school education.

So here is my offer to the FBI. I will, free of charge, decrypt the information on the San Bernardino phone, with my team. We will primarily use social engineering, and it will take us three weeks. If you accept my offer, then you will not need to ask Apple to place a back door in its product, which will be the beginning of the end of America.

If you doubt my credentials, Google "cybersecurity legend" and see whose name is the only name that appears in the first 10 results out of more than a quarter of a million.

John McAfee on Bitcoin: You Cant Stop It, Reiterates $1 Million by 2020 Price Target

john-mcafee-on-bitcoin-you-cant-stop-it-reiterates-1-million-by-2020-price-target

Cybersecurity pioneer John McAfee, in a recent interview, reiterated the famous prediction he made on 29 November 2017 on Twitter -- namely that one bitcoinwould be worth $1 million by 2020 -- and explained how he arrived at that figure.

The first question was: "Why do you think Bitcoin will go to $1 million by 2020?"

McAfee answered: "There all kinds of ways to do it. The most common way is to take number of users of Bitcoin... because as Bitcoin expands its user base, both people who hold the coin and people who accept the coin for payment... It's sky-rocketing... It's not going to disappear. It can't possibly go to zero. It can only grow as the user base grows. So, it's impossible... Listen, it's Pandora's Box... The box has been opened...

Digital currencies will replace fiat currencies. Why? I have a wallet on my phone which is an entire bank... Lending money, sending wires, I don't have to go to the bank. It takes me 10 seconds to do a wire... Do you think that is going to go to zero and we're going to go back to this incredibly dull and bizarre way of using money with banks?"

The next question was why McAfee was not worried about the effect of regulations on Bitcoin.

McAfee answered: "Congress can make all the laws it wants. Obviously, they can outlaw Bitcoin. You are assuming there is a possibility of enforcing those laws... You cannot stop a distributed system that is worldwide. There is no law that you can make... If you had one person per citizen in the country... You still couldn't do it because the enforcer would have to sleep at some point... When exchanges were centralized, you could shut down an exchange. You can't do it anymore. They have now decentralized theexchanges... How will youenforce these magical laws that Congress is going to make? Jamie Dimon has no power in this world..."

The interviewer then asked what if the government tries to make it difficult for people to spend their bitcoin.

McAfee responded: "How are you going to make it difficult? What are you going to do to make it difficult? ... The banks are not involved. The banks have nothing to do with it... The misconception is that legislation can have teeth... You can't stop Bitcoin... Technologically impossible!"

Next, McAfee was asked if hehad come up with the $1 million price target based on a mathematical formula or if he had come up with the figure based on some assumptions about its usage.

He replied: "I looked at it in two way... [First] Ilooked at the number of users, the user growth... I came up maybe with three and seven million... [Second]I came at it the mining way, which is I believe a lot more valid... The last bitcoin to be mined... It is going to cost four to five billion dollars to mine that last coin and miners are going to do it. The value of thatbitcoin has got to bemore than the work put in to mine it...So if it cost even one billion dollars, why don't you work backwards from there and find out what the end of 2020 it is going to be? ... $5 million it is probably the thing... So, $1 million is way outside the lower range, so I am very safe... And it is not just Bitcoin... There are 2000 other coins... You cannot stop them. You cannotchange them. You cannot control them. Accept them and try to fix your life to get in line with reality... In the 1930s we made it a law that you couldn't drink alcohol. We consumed more alcohol per capita during that period than anyperiod in American history..."

Although quite a few famous Bitcoin bulls have given what seem like quite outlandish figures as their price targets, such asTim Draper's $250,000 price target by 2022,McAfee's is by far the highest and the period of time -- only two years -- to reach that target is the shortest we have come across this year.

John McAfee undeterred by crashing market, says Bitcoin will …

mcafee

Cryptocurrency price has been going downhill over the past few months but John McAfee is undeterred by it. He, like many other crypto enthusiasts, is confident that the market will break record levels of 2017.

The market scenario has been bleak enough to make even bullish players feel uncertain but the cybersecurity expert still holds on to his bet that Bitcoin [BTC] will be valued at $1 million by 2020, according to a Newsweek report. In fact, he said he would eat his own pe**s if it doesnt happen.

McAfee said, I absolutely stand by the million-dollar prediction. It is still two and a half years away, in which two things will happen: bitcoin will continue to grow, and the U.S. dollar and other fiat currencies will devalue.

McAfee is not alone in being so radically optimistic about the fintech market. Danial Daychopan, CEO of Plutus, a bitcoin platform, told Newsweek: The overall trend in the value of bitcoin is still heading north, Danial Daychopan, CEO of a bitcoin platform called Plutus, told the media firm.

Bitcoin is a good unit of account, and unlike gold, its the perfect unit of exchange. This is a fundamental fact. Were going to see overall growth of the bitcoin price by the end of the year: I predict the value of bitcoin may reach 30,000, the year after 50,000, Daychopan added.

When investment into cryptocurrency swelled in 2017, and Bitcoins value skyrocketed, many experts called it a bubble. However, bullish players didnt give a hoot.

Cryptocurrencies have gone through many bubbles already in their short life cycle, said Liina Laas-Billson, who has worked in the fintech field for half a decade.

The previous bitcoin boom resulted in the price crashing 80 percent from an all-time high of over $1000 per bitcoin. It took three years to climb back up to the previous price rate, she said.

John McAfee, Ripple (XRP) and the SEC – Global Coin Report

READ LATER - DOWNLOAD THIS POST AS PDF

Known for his well-timed predictions (and their explosive results) within the cryptocurrency community, John McAfee is in the headlines again, going underground as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) attempts to silence his voice. A vocal critic of the SEC, McAfee has taken to Twitter to update his followers on current developments as the SEC has allegedly infiltrated his property, disturbing McAffees peace and forcing the hand of a man most famously known for his wild Bitcoin predictions.

Perhaps the most vocal and angry critic of the SEC, McAfee has spoken out numerous times concerning the commissions actions to destroy value in the market. Now, with an increase in suspicious activity happening around his home in Tennessee, his twitter feed has lit up with the dramatic unfolding of this newest dilemma. With the entire story unfolding via social media, we need to look no further than Twitter and Youtube for updates. The official story, however, has been told by Rob Loggia on his increasingly popular website.

While easily passed off as paranoid by the mainstream media, McAfees security detail sees current developments differently. As an example, Jimmy Watson, a former Navy Seal hired by McAfee for protection has stated,

All of my instincts point in one direction. Weve had a white single-engine plane circle the property at low altitude for almost an hour. It has visited us several times. Thats not normal.

Other abnormal instances include vehicles with passengers trying to obscure their faces as they take off at high speed, and apparent human activity leaving traces in the tall grass surrounding McAfees home. Needless to say, McAffee has felt it necessary to leave the safety of his cul de sac, and reveal his truths from an undisclosed location, traveling via armed motorcade.

While there is no direct connection to the recent visits and the SEC, McAfee is again speaking out against the commission and its overwhelming intrusions into our civil liberties. Having been targeted by the commission in the past, McAfee believes it is them making life difficult once again.

The SEC has made headlines recently with their meddling into the affairs of a few big-name cryptocurrencies. Ripple (XRP) has now been targeted and is quickly mounting a defense (or at least creating a new logo) to distance the currency (XRP) from Ripple the company. The SEC is waiting to make up its mind as what truly constitutes a security in the crypto-universe, and the fate of Ripples (XRP) value is again held in limbo to the consternation of hodlers across the market.

While the SEC intrusion makes waves through the daily headlines of our favorite crypto news sites, its decision (either way) speaks volumes to McAfees discussion on the commissions overreach. And while the verdict is yet to officially come out, the damage is being done in front of our eyes, as the SEC once again affects the value of Ripple (XRP) and the market as a whole.

John McAfee: I keep a gun in my hand while showering, sitting on toilet

John McAfeewants you to know that he never goes anywhere unarmed.

The controversial tech mogul, who claims to have been targeted by numerous bad actors in the past, is protected around the clock by his own security team, but should they be comprised, he'd be more than ready.

In a Twitter post this week, he revealed just how ready.

His sidearm never leaves his hand, he wrote.

Not when he sleeps. Not in the shower. Not when he's sitting on the toilet. Not even when he makes love.

"Puts a kink in foreplay but some women love it."

My sidearm is with me 24/7. More: my sidearm is ALWAYS in my hand when I'm on the toilet, sleeping and making love. Puts a kink in foreplay but some women love it. Accidental discharge? No. Some intentional when idiots tried to rush me. 2 women spontaneously orgasmed. Go figure. pic.twitter.com/LuLvdSuMka

And in a follow-up tweet, he shared that the Glock in the photo was just part of his on-person arsenal:

"I carry three sidearms. Hip, shoulder, ankle," he said.

Why pack so much firepower? Well, because a lot folks are out to get him, he says the U.S. government, violent cartels, corrupt Belizean officials, food poisoners and "six women" who tried to shoot him.

In the last few months, the cybersecurity pioneer and cryptocurrency evangelist has claimed to be on the run from Securities and Exchange Commission, which forced him into hiding. His life was in danger, he said.

Then again, it always seems to be in danger.

Irrational??? Google me. On the run in the Belizean jungle for weeks while 17,000 armed men were trying to kill me. Assistant Prime Minister of Belize hired hitman Eddie McKoy to kill me. Five failed attempts by the Sinaloa Cartel. 6 different women tried to shoot me. Google me.

In June, he was hospitalized. A photo showed him lying in bed with tubes sprouting out of his body. Something he ate, drank or inhaled was spiked with poison by "incompetent enemies," he said.

He has previously maintained that violent cartels have attempted to kidnap him on several occasions over the last few years, most recently in September. The cartels want to abduct him, he said, because of his connection to the murder of his neighbor in Belize in 2012. (He was a "person of interest" in the investigation.)

When he escaped from Belize to Guatemala, he says he was chased through the jungle by "17,000 armed men."

It's worth noting that the entire armed forces of Belize number 2,100 personnel.

Naturally, McAfee's tweets prompted a flurry of comments. Here are a few:

Gonna shoot him through Twitter?

My wife always says accidental discharge doesnt matter and it happens to everyone

Thank you for your support:)

John McAfee Boldly Predicts Bitcoin Will Surpass $15,000 Next …

/latest/2018/05/john-mcafee-boldly-predicts-bitcoin-will-surpass-15000-next-month/

According to a statement made on Twitter, John McAfee has made strong predictions that Bitcoin will excel beyond the $15,000 range by June. While these are short-term predictions, McAfee remains a strong source on cryptocurrency valuations and their performance.

In his statement, McAfee states that this is a 'special time' and rarely makes short-term predictions on investment areas.

"I seldom make short-term predictions because they are frequently meaningless and they encourage short-term investors, which in turn encourages mediocrity. But this is a special time."

The reliability of McAfee's predictions is maintained by his algorithms which, according to him, have never been wrong. McAfee has notably also predicted that bitcoins price will hit $1 million in 2020.

If McAfee is correct, bitcoins price is set to more than double in little time, as the flagship cryptocurrency is currently trading at $7,489 according to data from CryptoCompare.

Along with Bitcoin, the eccentric cybersecurity pioneer expects altcoins to make substantial gains between June and August. With Bitcoin Private (BTCP), a merge-fork of bitcoin with ZCash surpassing $200, and EOS surging to reach $32 by the end of July.

Its worth noting that the cybersecurity pioneer, as covered by CryptoGlobe, has in the past revealed he is bullish on Bitcoin Private, as he stated the cryptocurrency is set to replace Monero (XMR) as the number one cryptocurrency being used on the dark web.

The eccentric millionaire has pumped various cryptocurrencies in the past with Verge (XVG) surging after he claimed to be more bullish on it than on Zcash or Monero. Its worth noting he also pumped various cryptocurrencies after being paid to do so, as he was running a service that charged $105,000 per tweet.

McAfee has also stated that this strong bullish trend is attributed to a significant rise in institutional demand. In a tweet published earlier this week, he stated that major long-term investors will begin surging behind Bitcoin and various altcoins.

Institutional investors are preparing to enter the cryptocurrency market with a vengeance. They are generally long-term investors and will be pumping billions into the market. Expect the top ten coins to go through the roof fairly quickly. The bulk of altcoins will soon follow.

Teen hacks John McAfee’s ‘unhackable’ crypto-baby to play …

GEORGE OF THE SILICON JUNGLE John McAfee has a bit of explaining to do. After we reported last week that his unhackable' Bitfiwallet had been hacked, within a week, we can now report on one of our favourite types of story.

For those that have followed us over the years, the "things being modded to run things they weren't supposed to run" category always fills us with glee.

In that spirit, we present the Bitfi running Doom. As programmed by a 15-year-old.

Saleem Rashid, admittedly a bit of a prodigy by all accounts, responded to someone joking thatMcAfee's bitcoin wallet would be running Doom by that weekend.

Rashid went one stage further and did it. By that weekend. And if you don't believe us, here's the video:

There's a $250,000 bounty for anyone successfully hacking the Android-powered fortress, but that doesn't seem to be as simple as we thought. During the hack, Baidu apps with tracking were found hidden in the firmware begging questions as to why.

Some complete partitions of code are also available from Pastebin, thanks to enterprising coders, while some security experts are suggesting that the only reason they haven't taken the wallet down yet is out of well politeness.

John McAfee and Bitfi are yet to respond to either hack, aside from quoting an interview which points out that, although hacked, nobody had hacked it to the point of stealing any Bitcoins. Which is a fair point and suggests that's what McAfee may be counting as "hacked". But having come this far, surely we're now just clockwatching until someone succeeds.

Prove us wrong, Wildman. Prove us wrong. Because by all accounts, the attack on Bitfi by white-hats is a matter of days away.
