Forever Freedom helps for Arthritis problem
Forever Freedom has combined Aloe Vera with other substances that are helpful for the maintenance of proper joint function and mobility in a tasty, orange-flavored juice formula. We #39;ve taken Glucosamine Sulfate and Chondroitin Sulfate - two naturally occurring elements that have been shown to help maintain healthy joint function and mobility - and married them with our stabilized Aloe Vera gel. To this, we #39;ve added vitamin C and MSM, a primary source of bio-available sulfur the body needs to maintain healthy connective tissues and joint function. Glucosamine Sulfate and Chondroitin Sulfate are natural substances that help maintain the structure and health of cartilage, keeping this natural "shock absorber" well hydrated. They also help keep the lubricating fluid within the joint at the necessary viscosity to allow one surface to glide freely over another. As the body ages, it is less able to produce these natural elements of healthy cartilage which can then lead to "wear and tear" on the joints. Forever Freedom provides the usually recommended amounts of Glucosamine Sulfate (1500mg), Chondroitin Sulfate (1200mg) plus 750mg of MSM and 250mg of Vitamin C per 4oz serving. When combined, Glucosamine Sulfate, Chondroitin Sulfate,Vitamin C and MSM provide the first line of support for healthy joint function. Make Forever Freedom a practical and nutritious way to start your day! As with other FLP products, these ingredients are sourced natuarally and are considered to be ...

Neeson awarded freedom of Ballymena

Liam Neeson has returned to the stage where it all began as he was granted the freedom of Ballymena.

Hollywood actor Liam Neeson is welcomed by well-wishers to Ballymena town centre, where he was granted Freedom of the Borough

The Hollywood star of blockbusters including Schindler's List and Michael Collins started out in his home town performing pantomimes with the Slemish Players.

He returned to receive the borough's highest honour.

Mayor PJ McAvoy said to the former Star Wars actor: "May the force be with you."

Ballymena Borough Council in Co Antrim, Northern Ireland, rolled out the red carpet amid pomp and ceremony as Neeson said he was still "99.9% Ballymena" in his dedication to hard work.

"I am aware of the work that you have been doing the past few years, coming out of the darkness that we all had and hopefully leaving all that behind us - new days, new times - and I am just privileged to receive this," the star said.

Neeson arrived at the Braid Theatre to be greeted by friends and family, including his mother Kitty.

Wearing an open neck blue shirt and dark suit, he gave the thumbs-up as he shook the hands of well-wishers outside.

Neeson was offered the honour in 2000 but turned it down because of a controversy over some alleged derogatory comments he had made about the town.

Oscar-nominated actor Liam Neeson arrived back in Ballymena to a jubilant welcome as he accepted the freedom of his home town.

The star of Schindler's List and Taken was welcomed by cheers from a large crowd of well-wishers as he arrived at the reception in the Northern Ireland town.

'It is great to be back,' he said.

This was the second time Neeson had been offered the freedom of the borough - he refused the County Antrim council's recognition in 2000 amid controversy over alleged derogatory remarks.

He was quoted as saying in a US magazine that he felt 'second class' as a Catholic growing up in the mainly Protestant town and felt he had to stay indoors during the loyalist July 12 commemoration of the Battle of the Boyne.

But after the ceremony he said: 'I'm aware of the work the borough's been doing in the past few years ... coming out of the darkness as we all have, and hopefully left all that behind us.

'These are new days, new times and I'm just privileged to receive this.'

Only three people have been awarded the freedom of Ballymena: Ian Paisley, Dr Syd Millar and Sandy Spence.

Neeson started his career in Belfast's Lyric Theatre and later joined the Abbey Theatre in Dublin before moving to London, then Hollywood.

He was spotted by film director John Boorman while at the Abbey, subsequently appearing in Boorman's film Excalibur in 1981.

Freedom of information bill advocates to march to Palace Monday

By Leila B. Salaverria Philippine Daily Inquirer

MANILA, PhilippinesAdvocates of the freedom of information (FOI) bill are marching to Malacaang on Monday to press President Aquino to push for the passage of the bill in Congress.

The Right to Know, Right Now Coalition will march on Mendiola on Monday afternoon to ask President Aquino to certify the FOI bill as urgent, noting that the measure pending in the House of Representatives already incorporated the Palaces proposed amendments.

We believe Malacaang stated its position, supported the bill, endorsed its own amendments and said it wanted debates to happen. We appeal to them to take that commitment one more step, said Nepomuceno Malaluan, the coalitions co-convenor, adding that a certification would be the only way debates on the bills provisions could start.

Ifugao Rep. Teddy Baguilat, a co-author of the FOI bill, earlier said that a miracle from the President in the form of a certification would be the bills best hope for becoming a law.

Bayan Muna party-list Rep. Teddy Casio, who has withdrawn his authorship of the FOI bill on account of the Palace amendments, also joined calls for a certification as he accused Malacaang of stalling the bills passage even after its proposed exemptions were put in.

Certification needed

Casio said the certification was needed so the bill could move forward and he could propose amendments to remove the Palace proposals from the current version of the measure.

He also said that Aquino, who attended the World Economic Forum in Davos, could not boast of good governance given how he has regarded the bill.

How can President Aquino look world leaders in the eye and say his government is for transparency and accountability but he is the one primarily responsible for watering down the FOI bill? Casio said in a statement.

Freedom High quarterback with Kaepernick look is Nevada-bound

Freedom High quarterback Dante Mayes, who resembles 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick in playing style and appearance, is headed to the famous signal-caller's college as well.

Mayes has orally committed to Nevada after taking a recruiting trip to Reno this past weekend, Freedom coach Kevin Hartwig said on Friday.

"He looks just like him," Hartwig said of the Mayes-Kaepernick comparison.

Hartwig describes Mayes, who is 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds, as strong-armed and athletic but shorter than Kaepernick and lacking the tattoos.

Mayes, a three-year starter, passed for 2,487 yards with 26 touchdowns as a senior, guiding the athletic Falcons to an unbeaten Bay Valley Athletic League title. He also rushed for 319 yards and three touchdowns.

Nevada is headed by new coach Brian Polian, a former Stanford assistant under current 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh. Polian only announced his staff on Friday.

"It's a great fit," Hartwig said. "They have a new staff, and they're going to keep the pistol zone-read stuff, which is exactly what we do. It's a great transition."

Mayes, who carries a 3.6 grade-point average, wants to study at Nevada's medical school and has talked about wanting a career in medicine for two years, Hartwig said.

The Falcons have thrived with their dynamic trio of Mayes, Darrell Daniels, a versatile Washington commit, and junior Joe Mixon, a four-star recruit by rivals.com who ran

Hartwig said the school will have a signing party for Daniels and Mayes on Feb. 6.

End freedom camping call

Dennis Pezaro

However, the Queenstown Lakes District Council is powerless to do anything more about the problem, chief executive Adam Feeley says.

During the open forum at this week's Wanaka Residents' Association annual meeting where Mr Feeley was guest speaker, Dr Pezaro called for tougher penalties against freedom campers, in light of concerns shared by health officials worldwide about predicted norovirus epidemics.

''Norovirus is expected to sweep the northern hemisphere in their summer and it will inevitably find its way south,'' Dr Pezaro told the meeting.

''Only 40 years ago we were taught there was no giardia,'' he said.

Yet pollution from poorly disposed toilet waste now meant New Zealand's streams were ''unreliable'' and freedom camping could cause the same devastating result with the norovirus stomach bug.

''My concern is that if you allow people to continue to camp with inadequate toilet facilities then goodness know what this norovirus will do ... I'm very concerned that it could disable communities and community water supplies.''

Although he appreciated what the QLDC was doing to address the freedom camping issue, ''I do think we need to strengthen our resolve''.

''We must stamp [freedom camping] out before it starts to beat us.''

However, the council had limitations under the Freedom Camping Act in what it could do, Mr Feeley said.

Freedom to play ball: Camarillo park adds diamonds

Freedom Park is a mark of Camarillo's rising sportsprofile.

The park near the Camarillo Airport has been remade into five baseball fields, all with lights, including Veterans Field, a full-size field. The latest upgrades come after the opening of the 55-acre Pleasant Valley Fields to soccer leagues and tournaments in January2010.

To celebrate the completion of the new baseball fields, the Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District will hold a grand opening at Veterans Field at Freedom Park onFeb.2.

The fields have only been used on a try-out basis during a recent tournament by Pony Baseball players. Park district officials stood by to see how play went and how the fields heldup.

The renovation took nearly a year, though planning has been in the works for more than a decade, according to Daryl Wagar, superintendent of parks for thedistrict,

(View the Freedom Park: Camarillo diamonds slide show.)

"The park was designed around Camarillo Pony Baseball League's specifications," Wagar said. "Veterans Field is the only full-sized lit baseball field in Camarillo and maybe in VenturaCounty."

The five fields were created by eliminating the three original softball fields, which had been part of the former Oxnard Air Force Base, and creating two more fields from grassy open space, according toWagar.

The Camarillo Pony Baseball League donated about $180,000 to the district, covering about 10 percent of the cost ofrenovation.

The overall construction costs added up to just over $1.8 million, including change orders, according to park district General Manager DanLaBrado.

Changes announced for Freedom Fest 2013

The Freedom Fest board of directors met in January to discuss the future of the event after looming financial difficulties came to a head in 2012. The result is a more streamlined Freedom Fest that will continue the celebration with less of a financial burden.

The Murray Convention and Visitors Bureau is in charge of planning and executing the event. According to Erin Carrico, executive director of the Murray CVB, Freedom Fest has always struggled financially. Since the beginning, Freedom Fest has never existed to make a profit. However, it has always been a challenge for it to break even. In 2012 we saw sponsorships down and expenses at an all-time high, leaving the event unable to pay its bills, she said.

One of the reasons Freedom Fest struggles each year is it has always been a free event, relying solely on support from sponsors and donations. With the economic downturn we have seen a reduction in sponsorships and advertising, which in turn hurts the bottom line, Carrico said.

"After reviewing Freedom Fest's financial situation, we knew some things had to change, said Deana Wright, chair of the Freedom Fest board of directors.

A plan to cut expenses while also refocusing the event was presented to the board at the January meeting. "I think with this new plan we have narrowed the focus of Freedom Fest. Before, we would try to have a little something for everyone. Now, each event will be targeted and have the potential for more growth," Wright said.

Freedom Fest, which has in the past been a three-day event, will now last only two days. Family Day in the Park, which has been on Sunday, will be moved to Saturday night and centered around the fireworks. The fireworks are shot off at 9:30 p.m. and visible from Central Park. Activities will largely remain the same with inflatables, pony rides, a petting zoo and non-profit vendors. In addition, a local band will perform at the amphitheater and food vendors will be present.

"I am excited about the changes for Saturday night," Wright said. "Since the Freedom Fest concert ended, Saturday night has been lacking in activities. Thousands of people line (U.S.) Hwy. 641 to watch the fireworks, and then they go home. This gives them more options than just a 15-minute fireworks show." She added that the Town and Gown Community Band Concert will still take place before the fireworks, as it did in 2012.

There are other changes being made to Freedom Fest this year to cut expenses. This includes canceling Bacon in the Sun (an amateur barbecue competition), not having inflatables at Kids' Zone Friday night and changing the event guide, which was previously a 28-page book, to a smaller brochure.

"I am confident that these changes will not only solve Freedom Fest's financial difficulties, but also make the event better. I think we will see it grow over the next few years," Wright said.

Freedom Fest 2013 will take place June 28-29. More information can be found by calling the Murray CVB at 759-2199.

Freedom, Nisei Soldiers honored in New Orleans

The National World War II Museum in New Orleans opened its newest wing, the U.S. Freedom Pavilion: The Boeing Center, during a ribbon-cutting ceremony Jan. 12. More than 1,000 veterans, active-duty service members, family members and dignitaries attended the two-hour event that featured World War II veterans from every state, the museums Victory Belles singing group, and Salute to Freedom essay contest winners from every state. Master of ceremonies Tom Brokaw, author of The Greatest Generation and a noted television journalist, said the World War II years were a time when the freedom of the world hung in the balance. Americans answered the call to protect that freedom with 16 million men and women serving in uniform and an untold number of citizens of all ages doing their part on the home front, Brokaw said. It is their contributions we honor in the U.S. Freedom Pavilion: The Boeing Center. Brokaw became emotional as he paid homage to those who gave their lives in the battle for freedom. "When these guys enrolled, they went off to war when they were 18, he said. The lives that we have today, they gave to us not just at war, but when they came home they built new industries and went to college, went to school they never asked for credit. U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., said she would continue to work toward raising more funding for the museum. "Our entire delegation across party lines is asking in these tough budget times for the country to honor the story of this greatest generation and to have it told here in the city of New Orleans, Landrieu said. I'm going to get back to Washington to get the $30 million dollars that we need to finish it." The pavilion features a variety of artifacts that comprised the big guns of American military might. These include the B-17E Flying Fortress and B-25J Mitchell bomber, as well as a SBD-3 Dauntless dive-bomber, TBM Avenger torpedo bomber, P-51D Mustang fighter and Corsair F4U-4 fighter. The pavilion also will include a massive wall honoring WWII Medal of Honor recipients and an interactive submarine experience based on the final mission of the USS Tang. Exhibits will employ the newest digital technologies to ensure a thrilling journey into the heart of the American spirit. Other exhibits include: -Warbirds -Vehicles of War -Service and Sacrifice -Arsenal of Democracy -What Would You Do? The What Would You Do? is especially appealing to youngsters and active-duty service members as it puts the visitor into a specific situation faced by leaders in World War II and asks for the guests resolution. National WWII Museum President and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Gordon H. Nick Mueller said that opening of the pavilion will provide the nations World War II Museum with more exhibits for its visitors. This is an exciting and emotional event, he said. Activity on the home front was vital to the Allied victory in World War II, and Boeing was at the epicenter of that industrial movement, producing more than 19,000 B-17s, B-29s and other essential aircraft. The B-17 and other artifacts to be displayed in the U.S. Freedom Pavilion: The Boeing Center represent the nations tremendous industrial capacity and American wartime ingenuity. Mueller said The U.S. Freedom Pavilion presents the blend of people, weapons, industrial might and values all reflecting the American spirit required to secure the freedoms called for by President Franklin D. Roosevelt during his address to Congress on Jan. 6, 1941: Freedom of speech and expression; freedom of every person to worship God in his or her own way; freedom from want; and freedom from fear. The U.S. Freedom Pavilion speaks to the extraordinary scale and intensity of the American war effort, Mueller said. This is the story of America at war on land, in the air and at sea told in a way that will fully engage the senses, the mind and the heart. Following the ribbon-cutting for the Freedom Pavilion, a second ceremony in the museums main hall announced the opening of a Smithsonian traveling exhibit: World War II Nisei Soldiers and the Congressional Gold Medal. Most JapaneseAmericans who fought in World War II were Nisei, JapaneseAmericans born in the U.S. Shortly after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941, JapaneseAmerican men were initially categorized as 4C (enemy alien) and therefore not subject to the draft. On Feb. 19, 1942, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066, authorizing military authorities to prescribe military areas in such places and of such extent as he or the appropriate Military Commander may determine, from which any or all persons may be excluded, and with respect to which, the right of any person to enter, remain in, or leave shall be subject to whatever restrictions the Secretary of War or the appropriate Military Commander may impose in his discretion. In March 1942, Lt. Gen. John L. DeWitt, head of the Western Defense Command and Fourth Army, issued the first of 108 military proclamations that resulted in the forced relocation from their residences to guarded relocation camps of more than 110,000 people of Japanese ancestry on the West Coast. In spite of their families interment, a significant number of Nisei Soldiers performed valiantly during World War II, including Sen. Daniel Inouye, D-Ha., who recently passed away. Inouye earned the Congressional Medal of Honor for heroism in World War II. The ceremony kicked off a seven-city tour for the exhibit.
