Michigan casino revenues bouncing back with record-breaking online gambling launch – WSYM-TV

Michigan casino revenues are bouncing back from pandemic lows thanks to online sportsbooks and gaming options launched in late January.

There was already hundreds of millions of dollars being gambled here in Michigan every year. It was just being gambled illegally without any protections for people. And now when you make a bet on the Lions or, unfortunately, on the Spartans like I did last night your money can go towards our schools, towards firefighters that have gotten cancer, said state Sen. Curtis Hertel, of East Lansing.

Online and retail sportsbooks across the state brought in $150 million in just 10 days. Bets made after the Jan. 22 launch date yielded almost $112,000 in state tax revenue for the month of January. Online casino gaming like poker and blackjack yielded $4.4 million in state tax revenue.

The launch of online gambling has also been an opportunity for poker buddies to keep the game going under the pandemic.

Its given a lot of my friends that I would typically play with a reprieve from just the lockdown. Its been a welcomed addition to our personal lives, online poker player JR Miller said.

Miller and his friends are among the millions of Michiganders flocking to online casinos for table favorites like poker and blackjack as well as sports betting.

I have a couple of friends who have won a lot of money. Theyve been doing a lot of side bets more bets on games, golfers, and you know whatever they can bet, Miller said.

For Miller online gambling requires a certain level of restraint.

Its the dynamic of any time you get into a situation where youre betting. Its understanding theres got to be a limit that you have, unless you have unlimited resources, and then being able to ride out the ebbs and flows of winning and losing in any kind of sports betting or poker or whatever it is, Miller said.

Which is something the legislators who supported making online gambling legal here also thought about.

The gambling hotline numbers are required to be on all the apps while theyre going. So, if you feel like you have a gambling problem, we want people to call but people are taking advantage of it in a responsible way, Hertel said.

Richard Kalm of the Michigan Gaming Control Board says internet gaming operations are off to a good start. The taxes and payments from these services are expected to provide funding for K-12 students, the states tribal communities, and the state firefighters cancer presumption fund.

Atlantic Citys New Kids On The Block Dominate January Revenue Figures – NJ Online Gambling

When Hard Rock Atlantic City and Ocean Resort Casino (its name at the time) opened on the same day in mid-2018, the citys casino industry jumped from seven properties to nine.

And as it turned out, the new kids are alright.

Take Januarys revenue figures released Wednesday by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.

In spite of COVID-19 capacity restrictions, there was a healthy increase in revenue at both properties compared to unrestricted January 2020.

Hard Rock jumped 23.9% to $26.6 million in brick-and-mortar revenue last month, while Ocean (now known as Ocean Casino Resort) similarly climbed 21.3% to $20.5 million.

The boosts moved Hard Rock third in January 2020 revenue in this category up to second place behind perennial leader Borgata, which easily led at $38.3 million in spite of a 30.6% year-over-year decline vs the previous January.

Worth noting is that Borgatas $33.2 million edge a year ago on Hard Rock declined to a mere $11.6 million last month.

Ocean, meanwhile, jumped from sixth to third place in January revenue, while Harrahs tumbled all the way from third to seventh at $14.7 million, a city-worst 37.7% decline.

In an ideal world, the gains for Hard Rock, which opened at the former Trump Taj Mahal site, and Ocean, the successor to ill-fated Revel, would come from an expanding pie of gamblers. But that wasnt the case, as brick-and-mortar industry revenue declined year-over-year by 16.6% and six of the other seven casinos were saddled with double-digit declines.

Tropicana ($15.6 million) and Caesars ($15.5 million) maintained their spots in fourth and fifth place, with Caesars 8.8% decline the most palatable figure among the losers.

Resorts ($10.4 million) and Golden Nugget ($10 million) swapped the seventh and eight spots, while Ballys again claimed the basement ($8.6 million) even while under new management.

The online casino gaming and sports betting revenues more than 90% of the latter coming from mobile apps left the DGE listing the industrys overall January 2021 revenue as up 15.3% to $346.4 million.

But as Hard Rocks Joe Lupo and other Atlantic City casino executives have pointed out, the latter two revenue sources are shared extensively with the casinos partners, while the brick-and-mortar revenue is theirs to keep.

Last month, the land-based revenue accounted for less than half the overall amount earned.

There is so much help that we really need with these properties, Lupo said in a radio interview last month. We need to see the city revitalized, and its not going to happen when the media is reporting increases when they add in online revenue that is going to third-party companies that dont have any stake in the game.

Online poker a natural beneficiary of most Atlantic City casinos having closed their on-site poker rooms during the pandemic was up 50% last month to $2.7 million.

Poker was the lobbying focus a decade ago when operators advocated for online casino gaming legalization, and those efforts bore fruit with the public launch of such entertainment options in November 2013.

But other online games such as slots, blackjack, and roulette immediately overtook online poker, and the gap has grown exponentially the past few years.

Last month, a record $103.7 million in online revenue was raked in by Atlantic Citys casinos and their online partners, leaving the contribution of online poker as little more than a rounding error.

Contrast that with January 2018, when pokers $2 million was coupled with the industrys $20 million from all other online casino games.

In January 2015, poker was at $2.3 million vs. just $9.3 million from other online casino gaming. Poker has danced above and below that $2 million figure almost from the start, while non-peer-to-peer gaming revenue from slots, blackjack, and the rest has soared beyond even the most optimistic expectations.

Resident Evil 7: How To Beat Hoffman In 21 | TheGamer – TheGamer

While there is a fair degree of luck at play, Resident Evil 7s version of 21 rewards smart players who play Lucas' game.

No character in Resident Evil 7 suffers quite as much as Clancy Jarvis, the Sewer Gators trusty cameraman. Clancy manages to survive an encounter with Jack Baker first hand, even outwitting Marguerite in the Bedroom DLC, only to end up cooked alive during Lucas Happy Birthday game. Unlike Ethan who at least has a chance of getting a happy ending out of Resident Evil 7, Clancy lives to die and the Banned Footage DLC puts into perspective just how much he actually struggled.

RELATED:Resident Evil 7: How To Find The Clown Key In Not A Hero

Before Clancy got a birthday party all to himself, Lucas Baker forced him to play a high stakes game of 21 against Hoffman a fellow prisoner. Unlike other DLC in Banned Footage, 21 features no conventional gameplay, instead playing out like a full fledged version of Blackjack (albeit with its own set of rules to add a layer of strategy to the game).

Lucas version of 21 features a single 11 card deck that both Clancy and Hoffman share, with no cards overlapping with one another. Lucas also doles out Trump Cards which can be used either by or against Clancy to take cards out of play or even raise an opponents bet. While there is a fair degree of luck at play, Resident Evil 7s version of 21 rewards smart players who hold onto their Trump Cards and dont make unnecessary gambles.

The first round of 21 features no Trump Cards, simply requiring players to plan out their hits carefully and utilizing some degree of card counting. The goal of Blackjack is to get as close to 21 as possible without going over. Since there are no doubles in the deck, its not difficult to piece together which cards are still in play. Always play as if Hoffman has a better hand than Clancy, because he realistically does. Dont hit

RELATED:Resident Evil 7: How To Beat The Final Boss In Not A Hero

If Hoffman ever stays only to hit later in the same round, it means Clancy is currently winning. Be smart and keep track of Hoffmans card cout to spot if/when he goes over 21. The loser of this phase has their fingers sliced off with blades. Ties result in both Clancy and Hoffman losing their fingers. Canonically, Clancy makes it to Resident Evil 7s main story with his hand intact, but expect to lose some digits.

After getting through the first phase of 21, Lucas will up the stakes by electrocuting the loser. The voltage increases with each round, burning the loser alive on contact. Lucas introduces Trump Cards into play here. The key is to use these cards strategically while also saving the best ones for the final round. Keep in mind that Hoffman has Trump Cards as well, many of which are designed to specifically counter Clancys.

RELATED:Resident Evil 7: How To Complete The Daughters DLC

Trump Cards like 3 Card, 5 Card, or 6 Card are especially useful, allowing Clancy to pull cards out of the deck without needing to take a hit. Smart players can use this to build to 21 (while keeping in mind that Hoffman can potentially return Clancys last flipped card back to the deck). Hoffman also has a tendency to play Go For 24, which raises the target number from 21. Try to save any Two-Ups for the final phase. Play resourcefully and only hit when absolutely necessary.

Before the final phase of 21, Lucas will slide Clancy the Love Your Enemy Trump Card, granting Hoffman the best card in the deck on use. While deliberately designed to give Clancys opponent an advantage, the key to winning the final round of Blackjack is saving Love Your Enemy for the absolute last possible round. Once Hoffman is at his limit, Lucas will force a 21 against Clancy that players wont be able to naturally beat. The last round of 21 places a saw between both Clancy and Hoffmans faces, inching closer to the loser every round.

Make sure to use any Two Ups to raise the stakes against Hoffman and get to the final round sooner. As soon as Hoffman has 21 (in the final possible round), use Love Your Enemy to force him to hit. Hoffman wont be able to retaliate and Clancy can comfortably stay at any number under 21. For his loss, Hoffman has his face violently gorged open with a rotating saw. As a reward for his victory, Clancy gets to go star in the main games Happy Birthday puzzle.

UFC chief Dana White says he is a degenerate gambler and admits losing staggering $1million boxing bet – The Sun

DANA WHITE said he is a 'degenerate gambler' and admitted to losing a staggering $1million boxing bet once.

The UFC boss is a notorious blackjack player but opened up on his love for betting on sports.

2

Things did not go so well for him in 2007, though, when he lost $1m after Jermain Taylor was knocked out by Kelly Pavlik.

White told ESPN: Oh my god. What was the kids name? Jermain Taylor.

"And who did he fight? I know this for the ass-whooping I took. He fought the tall, lanky, white kid from Ohio, Kelly Pavlik.

"I bet $1million on Taylor and he got destroyed.

"It was the first time I ever bet $1 million dollars because I was so confident Taylor was going to win that fight."

White grew up in Boston but in the early 90s he left for Las Vegas after a run-in with crime boss Whitey Bulger.

Living in Sin City, where he later became UFC president, was how his love for betting started.

White said: Id say its about time. I like it. Its obviously a thing people love to do.

"It makes whatever youre watching a lot more fun, a lot more interesting, so Ive always been for it. But Im from Vegas.

I play table games too much. Im a degenerate if youre not getting it. Im a degenerate, yes. I love to gamble."

Astonishingly, White has been banned from the Palms Casino Resort TWICE due to the success of his blackjack playing.

The first occasion in 2012, saw White retaliate by refusing to put on UFC events at the casino, where The Ultimate Fighter bouts had been staged.

But under new owners, the promoter was invited back in 2014.

It did not lost long, however, as between March 1 and May 21, White claimed to have won $2MILLION.

He found himself again barred from betting there, but this time he was awarded a BELT for being the 'undisputed blackjack champion'.

His childhood friends Frank and Lorenzo Feritta bought the UFC in 2001, and White was immediately named the promotion's president.

The Feritta brothers sold the UFC for $4.4BILLION to entertainment company WME-IMG in 2016.

White, who stayed on as president, is said to have pocketed $360m after the sale due to his shares in the company, according to Darren Rovell.

The promoter, who has an estimated net worth of $500m, denied in a 2014 Las Vegas Review-Journal interview that he had a gambling problem.

He said: Has it affected my personal life? Has it affected my professional life? Have I lost all my money?

"Theres nothing negative about what Ive been doing lately.

Reasons You Are Losing at Slots – How to Win More Playing Slots – BestUSCasinos.org

Show me a slots player and Ill show you a gambler who loses money. I know you might make a few bucks playing slots from time to time, but the odds are that youre a losing slots player.

The only way for most slots gamblers to stop losing money to the machines is to stop playing on them. Beyond simple playing slots, there are a few other things that are increasing your losses.

Here are six reasons why you lose when you play slots for real money. With these six things you can learn how to change your results at least a little bit.

When youre gambling you should know as much about the odds as you can. This is true whether youre playing slots or any other gambling game. The problem is that the odds arent always easy to decipher, find, and understand.

To help you Im going to show you a few different ways to look at the odds and probabilities for gambling games.

Most people think of odds as something like 3 to 2 or 4 out of 52. 4 out of 52 is how many aces there are in a deck of cards compared to the total number of cards. 3 to 2 is what you get on your bet when you get a blackjack.

When youre gambling its easier to look at odds when theyve been converted to either a return to player percentage of a house edge.

The games with high return percentages or low house edges offer better odds. The return for slots is usually somewhere between 85% and 95%. These arent very good odds.

The fact is that the odds, no matter how you look at them, for slots are bad. You can get better odds playing a wide number of other gambling games. Your best bet is to stop playing slots and play a game with better odds.

With the odds stacked against you when you play slots, the more money that you put in the machine the more youre going to lose.

Slot machines work with a simple concept that guarantees that over time they make a profit for the casino. This simple concept is a built-in edge that the slot machine is programmed to create for the casino.

In this case, it means that when you play $200 worth of spins the machine is going to keep $16. And if you bet more the machine is going to keep more.

You can bet too much when you play slots 2 ways. Youre going to learn more about the second way you bet too much in section 4 below.

In this section, you need to understand that you should risk the smallest amount possible when you play a slots game. The main way to do this is to play on slot machines that have a low cost to play. A machine that you can play for a quarter is better than a machine that costs $1 to play.

Everyone who plays slots games has a budget. Some gamblers have a bigger budget and others have a smaller budget, but everyone has a limit to how much they can lose playing slots.

If you know what your slots budget is and how much the slot machine that youre playing is programmed to keep you can get an idea of how long you can play before exhausting your budget.

For example, if you have a $200 budget to play slots and the machine is programmed to take $25 every hour you play you can play for around 8 hours. But what if you have $400 instead of $200? You can play for twice as long.

This is how mobile slots bonuses and online casino bonuses work. They give you a bigger bankroll so you can play slots longer.

Notice that I didnt say that bonuses help you win. In most cases, slots bonuses dont help you win. They just let you play longer.

The reason why a slots bonus doesnt help you win is because the bonus has rules about how you clear the bonus. You have to do what the rules say, and the rules are designed to make you play for long enough that you lose the bonus before you clear the bonus.

I mentioned that there are two things that you do that make you risk more money than you need to when you play slots in section 2. In that section, you learned that playing on slot machines with bigger bets costs you money.

The second thing that youre doing that costs you too much money when you play slots games is taking too many spins when you play. Every spin you take adds to the amount of money that youre risking.

If youre playing a slots game at $1 per spin and play 500 spins in an hour youre risking $500. But if you play on a machine that has a .25 bet and you play 400 spins in an hour youre only risking $100.

Looking at the example you saw earlier of a machine with a program to keep 8%, you lose $40 every hour when you risk $500, but only lose $8 an hour risking $100.

This shows you how youre risking too much money, and shows you how to make two simple changes to start losing less money when you play slots games. Bet a lower amount on every spin and take fewer spins.

Youve read a couple of examples for a slot machine thats programmed to take 8% of the money the machine takes in bets. This tells you that a machine thats programmed to keep a higher percentage is going to take more of your money and a machine programmed with a lower percentage is going to take less of your money.

Heres the amounts of money three machines with different programs are going to take. In each example, youre risking $200 every hour.

A machine programmed to take 4% is taking $8 every hour.

A machine programmed to take 8% is taking $16 every hour.

A machine programmed to take 12% is taking $24 every hour.

This shows why you need to play slots games that are programmed to take a lower percentage of your bets. The problem is that this isnt easy information to come by.

Do a quick search online to find the slots games that you play to see if you can find the programmed percentages. Then look for information about slots games that are programmed with a high return to player.

In the first five sections of this article, youve learned several different reasons why youre losing when you play slots games. The basic fact is that playing slot machines lead to losing money. Youre not going to find slots games that are programmed to give you back more money than you risk.

The best hope you have is to get lucky when you play slots games and hit a big jackpot. In the long run each slot machine is going to keep the percentage of money that its supposed to keep. But in the short run the percentage the machine keep varies.

If you get lucky and play slots games during one of the times when the machine is returning more over a short period of time you can win. The problem is that its impossible to predict when these times are. This leaves you with hope that you get lucky.

If you want to lose less money gambling, you need to play casino games that have a better return or odds than slots games. I recommend learning more about video poker games and blackjack if you want games with a higher return.

The main problem that creates more losses when you play slots is that youre playing slots. The odds are against you and if you dont get lucky youre going to continue losing.

If you can identify the slots games that offer the best odds it helps you lose less, but youre probably still going to lose. And you make your losses worse when you bet more than you should either by making wagers that are too big and/or taking too many spins.

Look into slots bonuses that are offered by mobile and online casinos to help offset some of your slots losses.

The Most Interesting Facts About the Blackjack Game – Gameindustry.com – GameIndustry.com

Blackjack is arguably one of the most famous card games in the world. Its been around for hundreds of years, and so far, weve gathered a lot of interesting facts about the game. Ever since its inception, blackjack has been at the center of peoples attention, thanks to its simple rules and the ability to pull off winning combinations in countless ways. The facts presented in this article will seem interesting to both blackjack players and those who have never played it.

From historical records, it is known that Napoleon Bonaparte liked blackjack the most. Moreover, he was well versed in the rules of the game and made his own tactics for victory. Historians write that he often won in game with his soldiers and could sit at the gaming table for hours. Many other historical figures also enjoyed variations of blackjack game, and back then the game was only available to the wealthy people. Today, anyone can play it.

In fact, until now, it is not known exactly where blackjack came from. Nevertheless, experts believe that the card game first appeared in the 1700s in Italy. Then it spread all over Europe, and then around the world. Today, Blackjack is considered one of the most popular games of chance in the United States, according to statistics, a third of the countrys residents play it. And now thanks to http://www.casinonic.com/en-NZ you can play it online without leaving your home.

Back at the beginning of the last century, blackjack was banned in the United States. Nevertheless, this only increased the interest of citizens in the game. In the 19th century, blackjack tournaments were held regularly in different states, usually in some underground clubs. Officially the ban was abolished only in 1939. Since then, all gambling has been legalized in Nevada.

When blackjack came to the United States, various slang expressions immediately began to appear in it. Since baseball has always been an insanely popular game in the States, some of the terms were taken from there. For example, the player who sits to the left of the dealer is at first base, and the one to the right is at third base. Experienced players often prefer third base. The bases terminology came to blackjack from baseball and is still used by the Americans to this day.

Strangely enough, but blackjack is considered not only the easiest game of chance, but also the most profitable. The fact is that its the only card game that gives clients of gambling clubs an advantage over casino. No other game offers such an advantage, and in some forms of roulette the casino has a greater chance of winning than its players. However, this is only true for blackjack in land-based casinos, since at online clubs all the cards are mixed by using a random number generator. As a result, the chances of winning at an online casino for its customers become equal.

Finally, it is worth telling about FedEx founder Frederick Smith, who was helped with his business by blackjack. At one time, the guy faced financial problems, and he decided to visit the citys casino. At the time, it was the craziest venture imaginable. Smith took his last $5,000 and sat down at a blackjack table. A few hands later, the man left the casino with $27,000 in his pocket. That was enough to pay off his debts and start his own business, perhaps if not for blackjack, we would have never known FedEx today.

A virtual Chinese New Year for a family of four generations – The Straits Times

SINGAPORE - Chinese New Year for Ms Jue Wen Too was always a hearty affair. Arriving from as far away as New Zealand, her extended family of four generations would gather at her great grandmother's place for a feast of Hakka delights.

This year, however, the festivities took a more subdued turn. Instead of sitting around a table chatting and playing Blackjack, the family of 40 had to connect through computer screens due to the pandemic.

But while she missed the physical touch of her relatives, the Zoom get-together also made Ms Too think of the way Chinese New Year used to be - full of excitement and chaotic chatter.

Her great-grandmother, Madam Thian Ah Yew, is turning 101 this year, and lives in the Malaysian-city of Seremban, a three-hour drive from Singapore.

As part of yearly traditions, the different families, who live in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and various parts of Malaysia, would make their way to Madam Thian's place, just in time for the first day of Chinese New Year.

Awaiting them would be a feast cooked entirely from memory by Madam Thian, who has been blind for a couple of years due to a fall.

"Her memory is fantastic, so she remembers all the recipes by heart, and she would direct my grandparents and grand-aunt, who live with her, on how to cook these dishes," said Ms Too.

The 25-year-old treasury executive said that her favourite part of Chinese New Year was the idea of everyone gathering with the sole purpose of seeing her great-grandmother.

"It's like she is the glue and anchor holding our whole family together. I definitely miss the Chinese New Year atmosphere, where everyone would catch up, and gamble with one another," she said.

"It was nice to see everyone take part - from the young to the old, sit around the same table to play Blackjack. We always had a good time."

Speaking about this year's online family celebration, she said: "For the older folks, I think using technology like Zoom wasn't easy for them. Functions like muting ourselves and turning on our cameras may seem second nature to us, but for them, it's not easy."

But setting up a virtual Chinese New Year gathering, especially at a time of travel restrictions and isolation, can be a source of comfort for some.

Madam Peggy Lam, who is Ms Too's aunt, lives alone in Kuala Lumpur and has been unable to travel to meet her relatives in Malaysia due to the movement control order, which does not allow people to travel beyond a 10km radius from their homes.

"It's a terrible feeling when you can't be with your families and loved ones, especially at this time of the year," said the 47-year-old special education consultant.

"You feel alone trying to figure out what to do when you are supposed to be surrounded by loved ones! I miss everyone."

To get everyone together, she hosted a Zoom call, both during the reunion dinner on the eve of Chinese New Year (Feb 11) and on Chinese New Year day (Feb 12) so that everyone near or far, could dial in to catch up.

Mr Kenneth Ten, who is Ms Too's cousin, dialled in all the way from New Zealand, where he is studying dentistry.

The 24-year-old student, who used to return to Malaysia every Chinese New Year, found himself stuck in New Zealand this year.

"I'm lucky to have a group of friends with me, so we can still have reunion dinners together and visit each other's flats, but it's different not being around family," he said.

"Chinese New Year is definitely something that our whole family cherishes, especially seeing our grandparents as they're getting older and we want to spend as much time with them as possible."

"I really hope that the Covid-19 restrictions could ease up soon, so that we could see each other soon."

HOW ONLINE BETTING HAS EVOLVED AND THE UNIQUE BETS YOU CAN NOW MAKE – Island Echo

The explosion in popularity of the digital industry has gradually led to online betting becoming the favoured approach for gamers around the world. According to the latest studies, online gambling been on a consistent rise over the past decade to the point where it is a multi-billion dollar industry.

One of the biggest advantages to online gaming and perhaps the biggest reason for its rapid rise over the past decade is just how accessible it is. Players can take gaming with them wherever they go, have seen their choice of house grow exponentially, and now have a plethora of new opportunities and wagers that they can place thanks to the instantaneous nature of the digital world.

Heres a run through of just some of the new forms of bets and wagers players can now make when playing online.

Virtual Betting

One of the best features of wagering online is the added sense of community you can build up through things such chat windows. The reach a casino now has stretches right across the world, and the development of livestreams of classic tabletop games such as Roulette, Blackjack etc. has evolved in the gaming sphere to better utilise the conversations and interactions that players have online.

Whats more, the emergence of livestreaming on online streaming platforms such as Twtich.tv has led to an altogether new form of wagering. Houses and operators can now rerun old livestreams, have them constantly rolling either exclusively on their own page or simply as a filler for when these games arent live so that the action is constantly rolling 24/7.

Sites such as Unikrn have really managed to help innovate this unique form of wagering with their expertise, giving their users a chance to predict the outcome of a round or play and then rolling on any one of the thousands of vods they have stored from Twitch.tv streams over the past few years.

AutoPlay Bets

Video slots are undoubtedly amongst the most popular ways of gaming online, and have continued to ride the wave front and centre as the scene has continued its rapid rise over the past decade or so. Online slots house a multitude of diverse and passionate communities, all with their own tastes and preferences, and the range in themes, aesthetics, gameplay and promotions is a testament to both this strand of gamblings popularity, as well as its immense ability to change and sprout off in different directions.

Video slots are a lot flashier and represent a much adrenaline-pumping faster experience than traditional slot machines a user might find in a real world casino. Maybe fuelled by this, more and more video slot machines have begun to implement an autoplay feature as a means of placing bets. Simply set the wager level and the amount youre willing to bet, hit the autoplay button and the slot will continue spinning away until you say stop.

This new form of wagering allows users to sit back, maybe take on multiple games at a time and ensure that their fast flowing experiences remain as uninterrupted as possible.

Esports Betting

Playing video games professionally, known in the industry as Esports, has also become an multi-billion dollar industry in its own right with the blossoming of online streaming, advancements in gaming technology, the global situation over the past year and the influx of heavy hitting partnerships with companies and bodies right across the board.

Betting on video games, be it traditionally through markets or virtually through old streams hosted on site, has become a popular activity with Esports fanatics and a decent way of lining their pockets to boot. These wagers bring with them some new variants of wagers depending on the title. Esports fans can check out the latest CS:GO, Fortnite or LoL odds and, whereas something like football might only have a couple of outright markets on the scoreline or results, they will have the choice on betting on everything from the result, the amount of rounds played, the maps picked, the top point scorer etc.

The popularity of Esports has also coincided with the rise of informal moneymatches between players where they might bet against eachother for in-game currency, real world cash or certain items in the game. Microtransactions and customisable features in video games has also led to gambling on skins, heroes, and other customisable features to become more and more prevalent on online betting sites.

How True was the Story Behind the Hit Blackjack Movie 21? – Film Threat

Blackjack, also known as 21, is the theme of the 2008 hit movie 21. Its loosely based on the novel, Bringing Down the House by Ben Mezrich, a true story about the activities of The MIT Blackjack Team during the 1980s. But how much of the movie is true to life?

The main difference between the true story and the movie is the historical accuracies, like the use of mobile phones which didnt exist in the early 80s. Another obvious discrepancy shows Blackjack being played at the Red Rock and Planet Hollywood Casinos in Las Vegas but they didnt open until the mid-2000s. If mobile phones did exist at the time, the MIT team would likely be gambling at online sites like those found at sister casinos.

In both real life and the movie, the players successfully manage to pull off a mass scale card-counting scam, despite none of them being experienced gamblers or from a criminal background. In the movie, they are all highly talented students with exceptional maths brains from one of the top universities in the USA and are tutored by a card-counting mastermind.

In real life, the team was formed by three individuals, with the brains behind the initiative being Bill Kaplan, a Harvard Business School Graduate. Having already recruited and trained a similar team in Vegas, he formed the MIT Blackjack Team employing the same business principles and practices as before. Unlike the movie, students were recruited from sources other than the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Kaplan himself was from Harvard as well as Jane Willis the real-life Jill Taylor in the movie.

One of the first to join Kaplan was JP Massar, whose interest in gambling led him to attend a university short course entitled How to Gamble If You Must. His chance meeting with Kaplan was timeous and together they managed the team throughout the 1980s. The third person, John Chang, an MIT Electrical Engineering graduate joined them in late 1982. Chang remains involved in counting cards but has since been blacklisted in most casinos.

In the movie, exceptionally bright and talented students, especially in the field of Mathematics are observed by Micky Rosa, a professor of the university, who recruits and teaches them the art of card counting and other winning strategies. He puts them through a rigorous round of training before introducing them to the Blackjack tables but doesnt play himself, rather observing and training his protegees whilst making a tidy profit from their winnings.

In the movie, the main character, Ben Campbell is a Maths genius with phenomenal numbers skills. His ambition to study at Harvard is scuppered due to lack of funds, which makes him an easy recruit, and very soon he is raking in the money. His initial intention to make just enough to fund his studies is overtaken by his success, the excitement of the game, and his disagreement with Micky Rosa.

His real-life counterpart, Jeff Ma, was one of the youngest MIT Blackjack Team recruits and very soon swapped his intentions to attend Harvard for the Blackjack table, which he found more rewarding and exciting. The movie has been criticized for its casting of Ben as Jeff Ma since Ma is of Chinese heritage and bears no resemblance to Ben.

In the movie, Bens father passed away, but in fact, Jeffs father is very much alive and was a guest at the 2008 movie premiere. The money Bens mother offered him towards his studies in the movie didnt happen in real life as Jeff came from a wealthy family and could have afforded to study.

Jill Taylor, another of Professor Micky Rosas recruits, persuades a reluctant Ben to join the team and an on-screen romance develops. However, Jill Taylors real-life counterpart had no romantic connection to Jeff Ma. She and was simply brought into the team at the same time as her boyfriend and nothing ever occurred between the two.

Bens constant weekend absences in Vegas jeopardizes his relationship with his two best friends resulting in them kicking him out of their project group. Highly upset and frustrated, he haphazardly loses $200,000 at the casino. In truth, John Chang declared that this would never happen as any member of the MIT Team would be too disciplined and controlled to do anything like this.

In the movie, Cole Williams is the Casino Security Chief who is tasked with watching the players, and, in particular Ben, after it becomes obvious that he isnt playing a straight game. Ben gets beaten up by Williams and ordered to stay away from the Casino. In reality, this would never happen as major casinos typically use professional security companies such as the real-life Griffin Investigations. Their employee, Andy Andersen, was instrumental in bringing down the MIT Team after following and observing them over several years.

Tracing the popularity of online Blackjack game

Blackjack is one of the oldest games of casinos. Incidentally, it has been ranked as one of the top five games at online casinos. Blackjack is very easy to understand and play. Owing to its popularity and simplicity, it has been able to attract a lot of players to the casino sites. Moreover, there have been famous films and TV shows that featured blackjack. The critically acclaimed film 21 based on the true story of the MIT Blackjack Team has introduced players to the technique of card counting which helped the team squeeze out millions from the famous Las Vegas casinos. You can access Blackjack and its variants at https://casino.winissimo.com/blackjack/.

Get actively involved with the game

Blackjack requires constant involvement of the player at every stage of the game. You have to carefully plan your moves once the dealer deals the card. Whether you want to hit, stand, split or double, you have to prepare a well-researched strategy to play the game and use certain tricks and techniques to maximise your winnings. Unlike other table and card games like roulette, baccarat, slots, etc. that rely on chance, Blackjack requires a strong combination of luck and strategy.

Take advantage of exclusive promotions and benefits

Online games lure players with exclusive and lucrative incentives and offers. Some offer special VIP features to loyal and existing customers. Online Blackjack has a line up of cash prizes, bonuses and incentives for their free and demo games so that beginners and inexperienced can play the games to improve their skills and maximise their winnings whilst learning to maintain their bankroll.

Brush up on the important basics and strategies

The players can look for online guides and sites to equip themselves with the basics of the game. They can watch videos by gaming experts that talk about various strategies and techniques on how to make the best use of the game and beat the dealer and competitors. The rules of the Blackjack including its variants are the same across the world. In traditional casinos, you can use the chart to decide the best move or strategy for the game. The chart acts as a guideline for understanding and learning about Blackjack. The online casinos have an in-built chart which you can rely on while dealing with cards for the game.

Make maximum use of the odds

House edge is an important factor to be considered for selecting any casino game. You should always remember that the house edge will always favour the casino. At every game, the casino will have an upper hand over the player. You should never go for games which have a high house edge value. Because you will result in losing the game. You will end up spending more than you can afford which will exceed your bankroll limit. You should choose games with a low house edge value. The average value stands under 1% but it can reach 2 to 3% depending on the technique you have applied. When compared to other casino games, Blackjack enjoys having a low house edge value which makes it favourable among young players.

Get your excitement level high

Blackjack can be thrilling and fun. You will face many scenarios where you have to make different moves to beat the dealer. Sometimes you have to make a risky decision at the drop of your hat. And sometimes you just have to leave it to luck to decide the fate of the game. All these situations are enough to put your mind into action and boost your adrenaline rush.

Common Types of Blackjack You Can Try Playing – Gameindustry.com – GameIndustry.com

Blackjack is one of the most classic probability games as it is both based on skills and also provides higher profits compared to other table game. It may take time to understand the game altogether, but there are several variations to test your skills once you get a full grasp of it. The ability to play different variations of Blackjack is also beneficial as it helps you beat the Dealers hand. Most of the variations result from changes in rules, but there are others with different gameplay. This article will explain the different Blackjack variations.

American Blackjack

Also known as classic Blackjack, the American Blackjack is the most played form of Blackjack worldwide. Players can play with up to 8 decks, and the player and the Dealer are dealt two cards each, where one of the cards, known as the hole card, is facedown for the Dealer.

The player wins the hand if they have exactly 21 for the card totals. If the card total exceeds 21, then the player loses the hand. You must also have a total higher than that of the dealer for you to win.

European Blackjack

European Blackjack is one of the most interesting blackjacks to play. Unlike the American Blackjack, the player is dealt with two cards that face up and the Dealer gets one face-up card. Also, dealers in European Blackjack do not receive a hole card until the player decides to play their cards. This variation also has several other aspects and more restrictions compared to American Blackjack.

Progressive Blackjack

Progressive Blackjack has a gameplay similar to that of regular gameplay, but the player can make more money by winning the jackpot. However, the player has to place an additional bet for the jackpot. All the other gameplay rules of the progressive Blackjack are similar to playing regular Blackjack except for the variations where cards are hit, split, doubled or stand.

Atlantic City Blackjack

This game is played with eight decks. Another difference with other blackjack variations is that the Dealer is allowed to peek at his hole, plus they are allowed to stand on a soft 17. Late surrender and insurance are also allowed, plus respliting the cards is allowed up to 3 hands.

Spanish 21

Spanish Blackjack allows up to six or eight deck cards. The cards lack the cards with ten-value to increase the house edge, meaning the game begins with only 48 cards. Like the Atlantic City blackjack, the Dealer in Spanish 21 can peek at his /her hole card, plus late insurance and surrender are allowed. The Dealer will win the hand if it is a Blackjack or 21. This variation also allows surrendering after doubling down to increase the players chances of winning.

Blackjack Switch

Players in this blackjack variation can switch between two pairs of cards. The player receives two hands of cards, and all are dealt face up. Instead of the usual 3:2 payout, the payout for this blackjack variation is 1:1. The Dealer will win if he/she has a Blackjack, but the player has a chance to keep the bet amount if they have a blackjack before switching.

Vegas Strip Blackjack

Most online players enjoy playing this blackjack variation. Vegas strip blackjacks gameplay is similar to that of the American hole card version as it allows the Dealer to peek at his/her hole card. The Dealer in this variation must also stand on the soft 17. The game is played on four decks and allows doubling down after splitting the aces. The player can also split their cards, but to a maximum of three times.

Pontoon

Pontoon is an Australian Variation with a gameplay similar to that of Spanish 21. This game also adds fun typical Blackjack by changing the Hit, Stand, and Blackjack names to Pontoon, Twist, and Stick. You can also find a Blackjack game called Pontoon in online casinos, but it is different from the land-based Australian version that uses Spanish decks.

Super Fun 21

This blackjack version played with one deck is a version that guarantees players both fun and wins. The game rules are similar to those of the Classic Blackjack, but it has some variations in the payout structure. For example, a players natural Blackjack always beats the Dealers natural Blackjack in this variation.

When it comes to the money, a Diamond Blackjack gets a 2:1 payout, and the Blackjack pays equally rather than the usual 3:2. This game also allows the player to hit, double, stand and split no matter the number of cards.

Live Dealer Blackjack

It is possible to play blackjack with live dealers through various online casinos. Players in live dealership blackjack are dealt two cards each. Queens kings picture cards and so jacks count as ten, while the aces have a varying value (1 or 11) depending on the other card in your hands. Like some of the other blackjack variants, players in live dealership blackjack can split, double down and also surrender.

Parting Words

Though not all are easy to play, the above blackjack variants provide you with options. Playing different variants will expose you to different rules, table layouts and improve your gaming experience massively.

Las Vegas Strip Finishes Bad Year with Bad December – Casino.Org News

Posted on: January 28, 2021, 09:25h.

Last updated on: January 28, 2021, 10:45h.

The Las Vegas Strip is the main artery of the US gaming industrys heartbeat. But in 2020, it was nearly on life alert.

The main drag capped off the most difficult year with yet another poor performance. Gross gaming revenue (GGR) on the Strip last month was $292 million. This figure is a nearly 51 percent reduction from December 2019.

Statewide, casinos kept $683.7 million of gamblers money during the final month of 2020. That represents a 35 percent year-over-year drop.

Slot machines led the way, with the terminals winning $459 million. Penny slot revenue was down more than 38 percent. Baccarat tables generated revenue of $63.2 million, and blackjack $48.4 million. The table win for those games was respectively down 17 percent and 55 percent from December 2019.

Oddsmakers held $40.6 million of the sports wagers placed. It was a lone bright spot on the December report, with sports betting revenue increasing nearly 12 percent.

Las Vegas Strip casinos reported GGR of $3.73 billion in 2020, their lowest haul since 1999. The casino floors won 43 percent fewer gaming dollars during the 12-month period.

COVID-19 resulted in Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak (D) forcing the states casinos to close their operations in mid-March. They remained dark until early June.

While the gaming floors resumed business, domestic and travel restrictions ravaged visitor volumes. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority will later today release full-year travel statistics. But through 11 months in 2020, visitor volume was down 54.5 percent.

Nevadas economic engine and largest taxpayer and employment sector has been devastated by the continuing impacts of the pandemic, Nevada Resorts Association President Virginia Valentine told The Nevada Independent.

Fewer people meant fewer gamblers. Blackjack, craps, roulette, and baccarat all posted more than 40 percent year-over-year GGR declines.

Not one metered-market area in the 2020 full-year gaming revenue report from the Nevada Gaming Control Board showed a gain from 2019. The market that fared the best during the pandemic was Lyon County (-13.4 percent), which accounts for a negligible amount of the state gaming industry.

The coronavirus vaccine has arrived but in limited numbers. Its distribution in Nevada has been slow compared with other states.

According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and US Census Bureau, Nevada ranks No. 44 in vaccination speed. Just 4.9 percent of the states population has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

By comparison, Nevadas neighbors are faring better. Oregon has administered at least one dose of the vaccine to 6.5 percent of its residents, Utah 6.3 percent, California 5.5 percent, and Arizona 5.3 percent.

A critical component of our recovery depends on the distribution and acceptance of the vaccine, Valentine added. The sooner hospitality employees, which represent roughly one in every four Nevada jobs, can be vaccinated, the swifter we can restore our tourism-based economy, welcome back large events and trade shows, reopen dormant businesses, and bring more Nevadans back to work.

Live Dealers Lend A Hand In Boosting PA iGaming Revenue To New Heights – Penn Bets

The iGaming industry relies on computer speed and operations that no person could hope to duplicate, but Pennsylvanias record month for online casino gaming in December got a boost from human hands and faces.

The record revenue of $71.6 million last month among 13 online operators represented a 19.8% increase over the month before. Just like in land-based casinos, slots continue to be the biggest revenue producer, representing $46.2 million of the total, but those games arent the ones with the biggest spike.

Table games revenue, boosted by nine sites now featuring live dealers for blackjack and other games as part of their options, reached $22.6 million in December. That was a 25.9% increase from the month before.

Live dealer games first arrived at four sites in October, with five others adding them since then. Since September, monthly online table games revenue has increased 53.6% compared to 15.8% for slots.

All kinds of things can factor into online revenue increases, especially in a state like Pennsylvania where the industry was still growing throughout 2020.

$250 Bonus

Only 1x Wager Applies, Playable in PA Only

BetMGM only just arrived in December as the 13th iCasino site, which alone added $5.7 million in revenue to the state total. And December was an unusual month for gaming, in that all land-based casinos were shut down by COVID-related government order starting Dec. 12, pushing gambling enthusiasts onto their computers and smartphones if they wanted to indulge customary habits.

When weighing everything, however, live dealer games were undoubtedly a factor. Their availability was one of the biggest changes throughout the fall for iCasino patrons, even if the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board doesnt break out how much table games revenue comes in that format instead of the wide options that still exist for completely automated blackjack, roulette, and other games.

Evolution is the company that partners with multiple online operators to provide live dealer games, and it began doing so in New Jersey in August 2018. Dealers in a studio run games at the same tables seen in a casino while multiple players wager on their computers and phones, and players able to hear the dealers speak can type in a live chat to interact with them and one another.

The games proved highly popular in New Jersey. While it took many months to set up computers and a studio in Philadelphia to provide the same opportunity in the Keystone State, Evolutions live dealers were added in October by PlaySugarHouse, BetRivers, DraftKings, and Hollywood Casinos online offering.

Rush Street Interactive operates the PlaySugarHouse and BetRivers sites, and it explained in a statement at the time, Many online players prefer live dealer options because they watch the action as it happens, which gives them a higher level of trust in the outcome.

For its two sites, which added live dealer options Oct. 21, Rush Street has seen table games revenue climb from $1.67 million in September to $2.52 million in October, $2.79 million in November, and $3.43 million in December. Its December slots revenue of $15.9 million, meanwhile, was only modestly above Septembers $14.4 million.

Mattias Stetz, Rush Street Interactive chief operating officer, said the company has been pleased with customers support for live dealer options and it is expecting to add still more of such games. He wasnt attributing the more than doubling of table games revenue since September to that aspect alone, however.

Live dealer has generated incremental revenues, but it doesnt explain the entire increase as the casino vertical overall is still growing in Pennsylvania, Stetz said by email.

Since those first four sites began presenting live dealers, the feature has been added by Unibet, Caesars, FanDuel, PokerStars, and BetMGM.

Most of those operated for many months without live dealers, but for the states iCasino latecomer, BetMGM, it took only a week after it launched to add them.

Weve seen great successes with our live offering in New Jersey and are expecting similarly strong numbers in Pennsylvania, Matthew Sunderland, BetMGM vice president of gaming, announced last month.

As of now, the Parx, BetAmerica, Wind Creek, and PlayLive! online casinos are still without live dealers, although it could be only a matter of time before they also add them.

Such options are expected to become commonplace wherever iGaming is authorized around the country, as Evolution is developing a studio in Michigan to partner with the online casinos that are just now getting underway there.

But todays Atlantic City has so much more to offer visitors than beaches and blackjack since the resort town reopened in July after the shutdown due to the pandemic. With endless shopping options, a vibrant arts district and all-inclusive brewery tours, theres enough to keep visitors busy this winter that require neither betting nor warm weather. Add to that fabulous restaurants, spas and resorts that have all made safety adjustments to accommodateCOVID protocols, and Atlantic City just might be your go-to pandemic getaway.

While dates for many of the must-see shows and performers have been pushed back until spring, at the earliest, there are still plenty of activities to fill a whole weekend in Atlantic City. Grab your special someone or gather your pod, and make plans for one of theseCOVID-friendly activities:

1. Indulge in a spaaaaaah day at Hard Rock Spa & Salon

New year welcomed with torchlight parade, fireworks – The Daily Globe – Your Daily Globe.com

By TOM LAVENTURE

[emailprotected]

Wakefield TOWNSHIP The annual New Years Eve Torchlight Parade and Fireworks display on Thursday at Blackjack Mountain ski resort attracted hundreds of vacationing skiers and area residents to welcome 2021 or perhaps just to put 2020 behind them.

Pete and Jackie Cannon, of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, said they are annual visitors to the area resorts and come to Indianhead often.

Its the snow and this is a good time of year to come between Christmas and New Years, Jackie Cannon said.

The couple watched the torchlight parade and fireworks from the upper deck of the Blackjack lodge. They commented that it was a wonderful way to spend New Years Eve.

I think its a great thing, Pete Cannon said. It brings the community together.

Dave Suchanek and Grayson Savoie came all the way from Los Angeles to ski the Upper Peninsula and attended the New Years Eve events while staying at the Indianhead Lodge. Suchanek was raised near Ann Arbor and his parents now live in Escanaba, but it was the first time for both of them to ski the western U.P.

Im kind of a beginner to skiing, Savoie said. Ive done skiing in California, which kind of has pretty tall mountains, and we thought it would be better to learn here on kind of smaller hills and mountains and so its a good place to learn.

Another reason for the trip was to spend the holidays outside of L.A., where the COVID-19 restrictions of a large metropolitan area can weigh more heavily than the open spaces of a remote ski resort.

We were staying up here and wanted to do some skiing and we heard about the big snow country, Suchanek said.

The two noticed that fellow skiers were practicing COVID-19 prevention and wearing masks but it didnt feel invasive for skiing which has a natural social distancing, he said. Having just arrived on Thursday the two spent their time exploring the Indianhead resort.

Its low key and charming in the best way, Suchanek said. It kind of feels like youre in the middle of nowhere but its got a cool charm to it.

The New Years Eve announcement was in the lodge and the two watched the torchlight parade and the fireworks from the upper deck of the Blackjack lodge.

There were changes this year to make the event more compliant with pandemic rules and the crowd was dispersed along a snow fence or on the upper deck of the main lodge. People were not allowed to observe from inside the lodge.

This years torchlight parade was named in honor of Mary Jendrusina, a former director of the volunteer ski patrol who passed away in December, said Misty Vander Wolde, events coordinator for Big Snow Resort, which included Indianhead Mountain and Blackjack Mountain resorts. The torchlight skiers lit their torches from one torch signifying Jendrusina, and left a single torch on the top of the mountain for the flame to go out on its own.

When someone on the hill passes away that is the tradition, Vander Wolde said of the volunteers and employees of the resort.

The torchlight parade was held at 6 p.m., where it normally would have been held at 10 p.m., she said. The fireworks followed immediately after the torchlight parade where they are usually set off at midnight.

Normally we would have live music and the lodge would be open all night until 2 a.m., Vander Wolde said. Normally we wouldnt be done this early but it is still a really fun night.

Lisa Trousil of Green Bay, said her family plans for skiing outings at the resorts around northern Wisconsin and the U.P. at this time every year. This was their first trip to Big Snow Resort and they also attended the New Years Eve events.

We came to the U.P. for some variety and something to do, Trousil said.

Her daughter, Alexis Trousil, said she enjoyed skiing the hills on Thursday. She plans to spend the weekend learning to use her new snowboard.

We only ski a couple of times a year but I just started snowboarding and so thats also fun, she said. I skied today but I want to snowboard tomorrow.

Area ski resort managers are optimistic that more regional skiers will stay closer to home this season and help boost the struggling pandemic economy in the new year. The recent snow has helped but time will tell if the busy start of the season will continue past the holidays.

All the ski hills and cross country ski trails are open with adjustments to operations that discourage crowds and lines. Area cross country ski events were canceled or have gone virtual such as the Sisu Ski Fest that starts Jan. 4.

Neighbours Spoilers Shane is shot as Hendrix’s gambling problem spirals – Back to the Bay

On next weeks Neighbours in Australia, Hendrix is in serious trouble and resorts to extreme measures to protect himself. Yet his plan backfires, quite literally, as Shane ends up getting shot.

These episodes air in Australia from Monday 11th January, and in the UK four weeks later from Monday 8th February.

In episodes airing this coming week in Australia, Hendrix (Benny Turland) loses Number 24 to criminal Kane after yet another blackjack bet gone wrong. He was simply trying to win enough to reduce his debt, and when he gets the chance to split his hand and ends up with 18 and 19 (two fairly strong hands, for the blackjack uninitiated), Kane offers him a deal.

If Hendrix wins this hand, his debt is wiped in its entirety but if he loses the hand, Kane gets Number 24. In an idiotic move that puts two Ramsay Street residents life in danger, he agrees to the bet. Moments later, as Kane deals the cards, he loses.

Of course, the major problem is that he doesnt even own the house Pierce signed it over to Chloe shortly before leaving and now Hendrix is in serious trouble.

Next week, owing Kane thousands of pounds, and a house, and with his previous death threat still fresh in his mind, Hendrix is terrified and fearing for his life. He figures he needs to protect himself from Kane, and in a moment of madness he steals a gun from another of the blackjack players.

He confides in Jay Rebecchi (Dhruv Malge), who freaks out about what Hendrix has done. He understands that Hendrix is in trouble, but knows a gun certainly isnt the way to solve things, and could land Hendrix with some serious time behind bars if he ever came to use it.

Managing to talk him out of using it, their next problem is how to dispose of it. Just as theyre discussing things at the Kennedy house, Bea and Levi arrive home. Thinking on his feet, Jay quickly heads to the garden and stashes the gun in Karl and Susans pizza oven.

Of course, pizza is just what Bea and Levi fancy for dinner! As the boys try to convince them to get a Thai takeaway instead, Bea heads to the garden and turns on the oven!

A few minutes later, the heat of the oven causes the gun to discharge, causing an explosion and a bullet to fly through the air. It hits Shane in the thigh, and he needs to be rushed straight to surgery. As if poor Shane hadnt had a hard enough time the last few months.

Thankfully Shanes injuries dont turn out to be life threatening, but the scare seriously shakes Jay up. He keeps making screw up after screw up, and this one could have cost his dad his life. He wants to turn things around, so decides to confess everything about the blackjack games to Shane and Dipi.

When the two parents discover what Jay has done, Shane realises he has no choice but to put his family first.Unfortunately for Amy Greenwood (Jacinta Stapleton), Shanes accident has left her on the outside. His whole family have rallied around him, including Dipi, and suddenly shes all but forgotten about.

At the tail end of next week, she makes a misjudged attempt to offer her support. She gives Jay some advice about facing his mistakes, but when Dipi finds out that her husbands new lover is giving her son advice, she isnt best pleased.

The troubles for Hendrix dont end there. He confesses everything to the police, as well as to Harlow. Understandably, shes livid at what her boyfriend has done. Shes torn, as she really loves Hendrix and wants to support him, but its far from the first misstep hes made, and this one is pretty hard to forgive.

She had no idea about his gambling, let alone about how much danger hes found himself in.

Shes so overwhelmed by the bombshell that she doesnt notice the danger lurking around the corner. As shes out walking alone, a white van pulls up behind her. Before she can even react, shes grabbed by a masked figure and pulled into the van.

Eventually, Yashvi manages to track down Kane but theres no sign of Harlow, and Paul and Terese are getting increasingly worried that Kane has something to do with her disappearance. Will Yashvi manage to get the truth out of him before its too late?

Monday 11th January (Episode 8533)

Des and Sheila stage a fake relationship to try and uncover the truth about Clives feelings for Jane.

Fearing for his life, Hendrix steals a gun from one of the blackjack players, with a petrified Jay hiding it in the Kennedys pizza oven.

Shane and Amy try their best to date without offending Dipi, but when Ned reveals his concerns for Jay, Shane puts his family first.

Tuesday 12th January (Episode 8534)

After the sudden explosion, its revealed that the bullet shot through Shanes leg and when Jay confesses, Shane and Dipi are unsure about who their son has become.

Amy is thrown to find out about Shanes injury but finds herself on the outer as his family rally around him.

Hendrix comes clean to Harlow, Chloe and the police.

Wednesday 13th January (Episode 8535)

Nicolette is paying the price for getting involved with Kanes illegal activities, leaving Aaron and David frustrated by her lack of judgement.

Hendrix frets for Harlow, who hasnt been seen or heard from by anyone all morning.

Thursday 14th January (Episode 8536)

Kyle learns that the judge for the Best Dish of Erinsborough has been poisoned, soon realising that Roxy picked death cap mushrooms for his dish.

Paul and Hendrix butt heads as Nicolette decides to talk to the blackjack gamers to see if anyone knows anything about Kane and Harlow.

Friday 15th January (Episode 8537)

Sheila feels terrible for her part in the breakdown of Dess friendships with Jane and Clive.

Dipi withdraws her nomination for Best Dish of Erinsborough when she learns that Kyles dish is a tribute to Gary.

In an attempt to offer her support, Amy gives Jay advice about facing his mistakes, which backfires when Dipi finds out about the conversation.
