Rna Turnover In Bacteria, Archaea And Organelles
ll4.me Rna Turnover In Bacteria, Archaea And Organelles Specific complexes of protein and RNA carry out many essential biological functions, including RNA processing, RNA turnover, RNA folding, as well as the translation of genetic information from mRNA into protein sequences. Messenger RNA (mRNA) decay is now emerging as an important control point and a major contributor to gene expression. Continuing identification of the protein factors and cofactors, and mRNA instability elements, responsible for mRNA decay allow researchers to build a comprehensive picture of the highly orchestrated processes involved in mRNA decay and its regulation.Covers the difference in processing of mRNA between eukaryotes, bacteria and archea. Benefit: Processing of mRNA differs greatly between eukaryotes, bacteria and archea and this affords researchers readily reproducible techniques to understand and study the molecular pathogenesis of disease.Expert researchers introduce the most advanced technologies and techniques to identify mRNA processing, transport, localization and turnover which are central to the process of gene expression. Benefit: Keeps MIE buyers and online subscribers up-to-date with the latest researchOffers step by step lab instructions including necessary equipment and reagents. Benefit: Provides tried and tested techniques which eliminate searching through many different sources. A deep dreamer delight for meditation, and self exploration. 6 MP3 Songs NEW AGE: Ambient, NEW AGE: Meditation Details: Isaiah Toran is a musician, composer, performer, sound sculptor, and visual artist who has become known for his unique sound. Through a highly developed process of layering, Isaiah composes and performs music in rich ambient texture, depth, mood, and subtle detail. Using various acoustic and electronic instruments, found sounds and extended studio techniques, he is able to sculpt sound environments that conjure a strong sense of place, hovering somewhere between the inner self and the external environment. The word ambient is a vague term. As it pertains to here it stands for music whose focus is not just on beat but on other sonic phenomenae such as tone, space, and texture. Although all music can be used as a relaxant, ambient is characterized by its soft, slow even non-existant beat, or by an airy nature. Believing that through ambient music in particular, one can expand one #39;s mind, and grow into deeper understanding of all things that are important to you. Ambient music promotes meditation and imagination. These are wonderful gifts which can bring you profound pleasure. We hope you enjoy the music we offer. Pharmacology In Drug Discovery: Understanding Drug Response – Terry Kenakin – Video

Pharmacology In Drug Discovery: Understanding Drug Response - Terry Kenakin
ll4.me Pharmacology In Drug Discovery: Understanding Drug Response - Terry Kenakin Pharmacology in Drug Discovery: Understanding Drug Response is designed for all students, recent graduates, and new researchers in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries who need to interpret change in physiology induced by a chemical substance. Physiological systems customize chemical signal input to their own needs; therefore, the same drug can have different effects in different physiological systems. The field of pharmacology is unique in that it furnishes the tools to analyze these different behaviors and traces them to their root cause. This enables predictions of drug behavior to be made in all systems, an invaluable tool for drug discovery because almost all drugs are developed in test systems far removed from the therapeutic one. This valuable resource provides simple explanations of the ways in which biological systems use basic biochemical mechanisms to produce fine chemical control of physiology, allowing for more informed predictions of drug effects in all systems and forming the basis of the drug-discovery process. Chapters follow a logical progression on how to characterize the pharmacology of any given molecule and include important terminology, chapter summaries, references, and review questions to aid the reader in understanding and retention of the material. Bridges the gap between biochemistry and therapeutic medicineChapters include key topics such as drug ...From:maryeverett354Views:0 0ratingsTime:00:16More inPeople Blogs

Nutritional Biochemistry Of The Vitamins - David A. Bender
ll4.me Nutritional Biochemistry Of The Vitamins - David A. Bender The vitamins are a chemically disparate group of compounds whose only common feature is that they are dietary essentials that are required in small amounts for the normal functioning of the body and maintenance of metabolic integrity. Metabolically they have diverse function, as coenzymes, hormones, antioxidants, mediators of cell signaling and regulators of cell and tissue growth and differentiation. This book explores the known biochemical functions of the vitamins, the extent to which we can explain the effects of deficiency or excess and the scientific basis for reference intakes for the prevention of deficiency and promotion of optimum health and well-being. It also highlights areas where our knowledge is lacking and further research is required. It provides a compact and authoritative reference volume of value to students and specialists alike in the field of nutritional biochemistry, and indeed all who are concerned with vitamin nutrition, deficiency and metabolism.Author: Bender, David A. Telltale visible signs of aging may predict heart disease – Video

Telltale visible signs of aging may predict heart disease
If you look old, your heart may feel old, according to research presented at the American Heart Association #39;s Scientific Sessions 2012. In a new study, those who had three to four aging signs mdash; receding hairline at the temples, baldness at the head #39;s crown, earlobe crease, or yellow fatty deposits around the eyelid (xanthelasmata) mdash; had a 57 percent increased risk for heart attack and a 39 percent increased risk for heart disease . "The visible signs of aging reflect physiologic or biological age, not chronological age, and are independent of chronological age," said Anne Tybjaerg-Hansen, MD, the study #39;s senior author and professor of clinical biochemistry at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark. Researchers analyzed 10885 participants 40 years and older (45 percent women) in the Copenhagen Heart Study. Of these, 7537 had frontoparietal baldness (receding hairline at the temples), 3938 had crown top baldness, 3405 had earlobe crease, and 678 had fatty deposits around the eye. Students launch new social network for pets

Two animal-loving PhD students from Massey University have launched a new social network for pets. Called Petsnearby, the website grew out of conversations the duo had while working long hours in the labs at the Universitys Institute of Natural Sciences.

Mack Saraswat, a biochemistry PhD candidate, and fellow student Ralph Grand, who is working towards a PhD in genetics, found they shared a love of animals.

"I think we were just talking and we discovered we both loved animals," says Mr Saraswat. "I had a pet cat, Ralph has a pet cat, and we wanted to create something cool, something that would connect people through their pets."

Three others were brought on board to help turn the idea into a reality: another lab member, German physicist Lutz Gehlen; Indian businessman Sharif Zamir; and Mr Grands brother, Remo Grand, a designer and website developer. The start-up company was also assisted by the ecentre, Massey Universitys onsite business incubator.

The website is unique in that it is both a social network and a comprehensive database of services, including Council-approved dog parks, veterinary clinics and pet stores throughout New Zealand. There are plans to include pet-friendly cafes and hotels, as well as breeders, and health and fitness services in the future.

While the database information can be publicly accessed, those who create an account can use geo-location to find pet services in their area, or other like-minded pet owners to converse with, or even meet up with. Another unique feature is the ability to have more than one pet per account.

"The pet owner has the account, but they can add multiple pets - all other sites we know of require you to create a completely new profile for every pet," explains Mr Grand. "Whats really different about Petsnearby, though, is the interaction can be between the pets, or between the account owners. Two dogs can have a conversation about meeting up for a play date, or the owners can talk to each other directly."

He says that part of the sites attraction for users is the possibility "you can find a date for your dog, and potentially for yourself".

While PhD studies in genetics and biochemistry seem a world away from pets socialising online, Mr Saraswat says the data analysis skills have been extremely handy while developing the Petsnearby website.

"Were used to dealing with a lot of statistics and we have a physicist on the team who can come up with cool algorithms. As a group we like to meet, throw ideas around, and solve them mathematically," he says.
