Vitamins: Their Role In The Human Body - George FMFM Ball
ll4.me Vitamins: Their Role In The Human Body - George FMFM Ball This single-source reference draws together the current knowledge of the vitamins #39; biological properties in the context of human nutrition. Vitamins are co-enzymes, antioxidants or precursors of hormones and are therefore involved in a great many biochemical and physiological processes. They play a vital role in the maintenance of health, and there is evidence that dietary sources of vitamins have beneficial effects in the prevention of heart-related diseases, bone diseases and possibly cancer.Following introductory chapters on historical and nutritional aspects of vitamins, the next four chapters cover relevant and detailed aspects of physiology and functional anatomy, biochemistry, immunology and the regulation of protein synthesis by nuclear hormone receptors. These background chapters, supported by a glossary of terms, provide the scientific principles upon which vitamin functions are based. The following thirteen chapters deal with each vitamin in turn. Subject areas include chemical structure, intestinal absorption, transport, metabolism, biochemical and physiological actions, immunoregulatory properties, deficiency-related diseases and potential toxicity. An extensive bibliography refers the reader to the original research literature.Vitamins is aimed at nutritionists, biochemists, physiologists and physicians whether they be researchers, teachers or students. Essential Biochemistry For Medicine – Mitchell Fry – Video

Essential Biochemistry For Medicine - Mitchell Fry
ll4.me Essential Biochemistry For Medicine - Mitchell Fry This text addresses the growing need for a new kind of textbook for medical and biomedical undergraduates that presents a fully integrated approach to biochemistry and medicine, rather than covering biochemistry on a topic by topic basis with a smattering of #39;medical cases #39; to demonstrate relevance. The majority of pre-clinical medical students do not need a detailed biochemistry text book, but rather "biochemistry as a basis" or as an "add-on". The major challenge for them is to integrate biochemical knowledge, to clinical application in the understanding of the etiology of diseases, their diagnosis and treatment.Essential Biochemistry for Medicine is not intended to be an exhaustive, comprehensive reference; rather a concise, accessible guide that will help first year students, from a wide spectrum of backgrounds, gain a good basic understanding of the biochemistry behind common medical disorders. It integrates biochemistry with clinical applications and the understanding of the etiology of diseases, their diagnosis and treatment. Each chapter includes a concise and simple introduction to the relevant biochemistry and terminology to reinforce what biomedical students have covered, orientate them and encourage them to consider the medical context; whilst at the same time outlining the biochemistry in a simple, "must know" format, for medical students before directing them to the all important clinical ...From:kennyperry9569Views:0 0ratingsTime:00:13More inPeople Blogs

Theoretical Biochemistry – Processes And Properties Of Biological Systems – La Eriksson – Video

Theoretical Biochemistry - Processes And Properties Of Biological Systems - La Eriksson
ll4.me Theoretical Biochemistry - Processes And Properties Of Biological Systems - La Eriksson Theoretical chemistry has been an area of tremendous expansion and development over the past decade; from an approach where we were able to treat only a few atoms quantum mechanically or make fairly crude molecular dynamics simulations, into a discipline with an accuracy and predictive power that has rendered it an essential complementary tool to experiment in basically all areas of science. This volume gives a flavour of the types of problems in biochemistry that theoretical calculations can solve at present, and illustrates the tremendous predictive power these approaches possess. A wide range of computational approaches, from classical MD and Monte Carlo methods, via semi-empirical and DFT approaches on isolated model systems, to Car-Parinello QM-MD and novel hybrid QM/MM studies are covered. The systems investigated also cover a broad range; from membrane-bound proteins to various types of enzymatic reactions as well as inhibitor studies, cofactor properties, solvent effects, transcription and radiation damage to DNA.Author: Eriksson, LA Publisher: Elsevier Science Illustration: N Language: ENG Title: Theoretical Biochemistry - Processes and Properties of Biological Systems Pages: 00000 (Encrypted PDF) On Sale: 2001-02-19 SKU-13/ISBN: 9780444502926 Category: Science : Chemistry - Physical Theoretical Category: Science : Chemistry - Organic Category: Science : Chemistry ...From:agnesgarcia748Views:0 0ratingsTime:00:12More inPeople Blogs

Official medicine doesn #39;t look serious at flies as a infectious diseases spreaders. Povilas always has curious mind and tried to test it. Four years of research proved that houseflies do transmit very dangerous diseases. And accepting this fact can save many lives in hospitals and their premises, especially in tropical countries. For this work he has been awarded at European Union Young Scientists Contest - Best scientific project of 2012. This year Povilas successfully graduated high school and will continue his researches as a biochemistry student in university. From:Egidijus LankelisViews:0 1ratingsTime:03:00More inAutos Vehicles

Springer Handbook Of Enzymes
ll4.me Springer Handbook Of Enzymes Springer Handbook of Enzymes provides data on enzymes sufficiently well characterized. It offers concise and complete descriptions of some 5000 enzymes and their application areas. Data sheets are arranged in their EC-Number sequence and the volumes themselves are arranged according to enzyme classes. This new, second edition reflects considerable progress in enzymology: many enzymes are newly classified or reclassified. Each entry is correlated with references and one or more source organisms. New datafields are created: application and engineering (for the properties of enzymes where the sequence has been changed). The total amount of material contained in the Handbook has more than doubled so that the complete second edition consists of 39 volumes as well as a Synonym Index. In addition, starting in 2009, all newly classified enzymes are treated in Supplement Volumes. Springer Handbook of Enzymes is an ideal source of information for researchers in biochemistry, biotechnology, organic and analytical chemistry, and food sciences, as well as for medicinal applications.
