Asking the right set of questions lead to an accurate answer. That is what Google and NASA is trying do at its Quantum Artificial Intelligence Lab. Google's special team of experts have teamed up with NASA and quantum computing company, D-Wave, to explore the potentials of quantum computing, which may lead to understanding the mysteries of the universe.

"Were particularly interested in how quantum computing can advance machine learning, which can then be applied to virtually any field: from finding the cure for a disease to understanding changes in our climate," the team at Google's Quantum Lab said.

Google has just released a short film about the project, revealing researchers at work and even the D-Wave computer that operates at an almost zero temperature. The video will debut at the Google's Imagine Science Films Festival in New York.

Smart Software Puts Artificial Intelligence at Your Fingertips

Orlando, Florida (PRWEB) October 08, 2013

Many technologies have gone from science-fiction to reality, and now artificial intelligence will be in the hands of the public thanks to a recently launched smart software called EZ Troubleshooter.

EZ Troubleshooter is the first smart software that imitates how experts solve technical problems, without its users having to learn any new material.

The newly released platform currently provides solutions to computer problems ranging from any software, hardware, internet or networking problem, including peripheral devices such as printers, scanners, webcams and many others.

Founder Hector Sierra was tired of depending on computer repair technicians. Aiming to empower people to fix their own technical problems and free themselves from depending on technicians, he teamed up with experts in computer repair, user interface design, programming, pedagogy and psychology to create EZ Troubleshooter.

Sierra stated, We live in a world saturated with information, but what we need more than ever are instant solutions that make a difference in peoples lives.

Beginning October 15th, the public is invited to watch a demo of their software and get more information about their Indiegogo campaign at http://www.eztroubleshooter.com

About EZ Troubleshooter EZ Troubleshooter is an interactive troubleshooting software which allows its users to troubleshoot and fix their computer hardware, software, or networking problems.

MIT artificial intelligence center, backed by $25m federal grant, learning from infant brain research

By Carolyn Y. Johnson / Globe Staff/ October 6, 2013

The bold quest to build intelligent machines has, after more than half a century, brought us to this point: Scientists can build a Jeopardy! champ, but a child can handily outperform a computer when it comes to deciphering social situations, learning, or pretty much any activity outside the machines narrow band of expertise.

To change that, a group of leading infant researchers, neurobiologists, computer scientists, and robotics and software companies are joining forces in a major effort to finally achieve and even expand the grandiose ambitions of artificial intelligence, supported by a $25 million federal grant.

At a new center based at MIT, researchers will seek to craft intelligence that includes not just knowledge but also an infants ability to intuit basic concepts of psychology or physics. Full story for BostonGlobe.com subscribers.

Just How Smart Is Artificial Intelligence?

Artificial Intelligence is the Holy Grail of computer scienceand, for that matter, science fiction. But just how far have we come?

In this video, Luciano FloridiProfessor of Philosophy and Ethics of Information at the University of Oxfordexplores the current state of AI. The nub of his argument boils down to one big question: have we already created machines which are on their way to being truly intelligent, or have we just changed the world to allow dumb machines to behave intelligently? Watch and find out. [YouTube]

How Inequality, Robots, And Artificial Intelligence Will Change The Job Skills People Need

In 2011, Foreign Policy Magazine named Tyler Cowen #72 in their list of the Top 100 Global Thinkers.

He is a professor of economics at George Mason University and, along with Alex Tabarrok, he blogs atMarginal Revolution, one of the most popular economics sites on the internet.

Tyler is a New York Times bestselling author, having written 13 books includingDiscover Your Inner EconomistandThe Great Stagnation.

His latest book isAverage Is Overwhich gives a fascinating look into where the country is headed, how income inequality, automation and artificial intelligence will change the way we work and live and who will be the beneficiaries of those changes.

Tyler and I spoke about the skills that will be important in the coming years, when it makes sense to order the worst sounding thing on the menu, and why the ending of Star Wars may be at odds with the future.

My conversation with Tyler was quite long, so for brevitys sake Im only going to post edited highlights here.

If you want the extended interview Ill be sending it out in myweekly newsletteron Sunday.
