Biogenesis and potential suspensions were back in the headlines this week and caused some panic for the fantasy owners of the players reportedly linked to the busted South Florida anti-aging clinic this week. It is not time to overreact in yearly leagues, though.

The Players Union and the players' attorneys are going to dig in for a fight, and it should be expected most of the prominent players linked to Anthony Bosch will appeal any suspension that is delivered in the next few weeks or months. We might not hear anything else on this topic until late in the season, if not the offseason. Appeals would go to arbitration, and the Players Union is certain to defend the players' rights strongly here, because of the nature of the allegations and the actual proof that exists.

Let's break down the top alleged players who could face suspension once the dust does finally settle:

REGINA Major League Baseball is interviewing some of its biggest stars after the founder of a Miami anti-aging clinic alleged to have sold performance enhancing drugs agreed to speak with them.

Some of the names tied to the clinic include Milwaukee Brewer Ryan Braun, New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez and Toronto Blue Jay Melky Cabrera. Suspensions are possible, but the MLBPA says it has been assured no decisions regarding discipline will be made until the interviews are completed.

Its a process those tasked with keeping amateur athletes in Saskatchewan clean are watching very closely.

People will find ways to use anything to gain an advantage, said Scott Jule, the Manager of Sport Medicine Services at the Sport Medicine and Science Council of Saskatchewan. I think finally now a major sport industry like Major League Baseball is kind of taking a more active stance on this kind of thing, whereas in the past, 15 or 20 years ago, it was kind of swept under the rug a little bit.

Jule works with coaches and amateur athletes from across Saskatchewan, providing drug education and doping control workshops with a direct message about the damage these drugs can do to the body.

Internal organ dysfunction later on in life, Jule added. Everything from severe acne to yellowing of the skin. Those are just a few of the more common ones.

At the minor baseball level, Saskatchewan Baseball coaches are specifically trained to speak about drugs with their players.

They talk about banned substances and performance enhancing drugs, and theyre trained on how to handle that kind of stuff, said Nolan Bracken, who heads up grass roots development.

Bracken hopes with this new round of investigations young athletes will look up to those who have stayed clean, and learn what can be achieved when working within the rules.

A guy like Derek Jeter, or guys like that, who has never had his name tied to any sort of performance enhancing drugs, hes a first ballot hall of famer.

Saskatchewan sports watching MLB investigation

Guy DaSilva, MD, ABAARM, will begin conducting clinical trials for many degenerative diseases using adipose-derived stem cell therapy at the DaSilva Institute in Sarasota, Florida. The independent review board of the International Stem Cell Society will oversee the trials.

Autologous stem cell therapy works by mimicking the bodys natural healing process, but at a more potent, concentrated level. Stem cells, which are unspecialized cells with the potential to develop into any cell, are stored throughout the body. When disease or injury strikes, the body sends these cells to the area in need, and they begin repairing and replacing damaged tissue. Stem cell function decreases with age, along with ones ability to heal. But with autologous stem cell therapy, the body is once again empowered to heal and reverse disease, and with much greater magnitude.

Dr. DaSilva trained under scientist Kristin Comella, Chief Science Officer of Bioheart, CEO of Stemlogix, Chief Scientific Officer of the Ageless Regenerative Institute, and was recently named one of the 50 most influential people on stem cells. In this position, he reports to the Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Pamplin will be implementing the Companys strategic clinical development plan. The Concierge Medicine Research Collective, an independent health care research and data depository of the concierge and direct primary care industry's trade publication, Concierge Medicine Today based in Atlanta, GA released a 3-year summary of its analysis on the popularity and growth of the concierge medicine and direct primary care marketplace. They asked physicians from across the U.S. from December 2009 to December 2012 questions pertaining to their concierge medicine and direct primary care practice, patient satisfaction, business strategies, revenues and more. The analysis revealed the following results:

"Our analysis looked at concierge medicines growth, the business models used, popular trends, and a wide variety of physician surveys, interviews and secure polling data on a lot of aspects pertaining to the average [concierge and direct primary care] practice, said Michael Tetreault, Editor-In-Chief of Concierge Medicine Today. These doctors [internal medicine and family] are by choice and nature, treating nearly 90% of every patients healthcare concerns, ailments and concerns each year. For over a decade now, concierge medicine has had a love-hate relationship with the public. The public loves the idea or loathes it. However, if they truly understand it, theres nothing that quite compares to it. Its an educational curve were overcoming in the marketplace on a national level with analysis and education like this.

The analysis also found that there are currently four states that have a huge lead in the amount of active concierge physicians in practice and consumers seeking their care. Florida, California, Pennsylvania and Virginia each have a significant number of people (most over age 50) seeking out concierge and direct primary care doctors and there is, fortunately, a sizeable number of concierge physicians to serve them.

While the number of physicians entering concierge medical practices needs to increase, more geographic coverage needs to happen, says Tetreault. We're finding that the number of patients who are seeking concierge medical care is far greater than the actual number of primary care and family practice doctors available to serve them. This data, as well as other studies, tells us that it is extremely difficult to find a concierge or direct primary care doctor in rural areas such as Idaho, North and South Dakota, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Hampshire and others. Often times, were learning that there are less than half-a-dozen practitioners to serve an entire state.

The analysis also found that three out of every eight concierge doctors that are incorporating unique anti-aging and medical home solutions into their practice across the U.S. from 2012 to 2013 are seeing their patients nearly two to three times more each year than a traditional concierge and direct primary care practice.

Since the election in November 2012, weve seen a tremendous increase in the amount of interest, inquiries and physician searches across the U.S. People are concerned about the Affordable Care Act, access to their physician and unsure about costs, add Tetreault. Doctors are adapting. Theyre hearing from their patients about whats successful and learning exactly whats appealing to their audience and local patients. Most doctors are communicating daily, weekly and monthly -- with the majority of patients in a concierge medicine and direct primary care clinic and the outcomes are proving to be beneficial year after year.

Financially, the three year analysis asked doctors How is your practice performing financially year-after-year with concierge medicine and direct primary care patients? Surprisingly, physicians across the U.S. show improvement each since 2008 year -- despite the countrys slow economic recovery.
