"Grey's Anatomy's" Kevin McKidd and Sandra Oh
On ABC's Grey's Anatomy, Cristina and Owen genuinely seem happier as a couple -- post divorce, but that doesn't mean that the couple will return to the firehouse they turned into a home.
After signing divorce papers to remove the conflict of interest so Cristina (Sandra Oh) and the rest of the plane crash survivors would be eligible for a settlement, the couple has found a road back to happiness, even though she recently moved in to Meredith's Alex's house.
STORY: 'Grey's Anatomy' Postmortem: Can Seattle Grace Be Saved?
"I wouldn't say that there's hope for them returning to firehouse as a couple because I actually gave the word we could dismantle that set," showrunner Shonda Rhimes tells The Hollywood Reporter. "But they are genuinely happy and their happiness doesn't necessarily mean that they need to be in the firehouse. The firehouse is a place of their past; a lot of painful things happened there."
Among them: the infamous cereal tossing that came when Cristina learned of Owen's (Kevin McKidd) infidelity, the ramifications of an abortion and the two continuing to have different priorities about family and work.
"They're on a very complex journey. Cristina is a surgeon first and Owen is a person first: he wants kids and she doesn't. There are these very basic conflicts that they have in their lives that are very hard to overcome," Rhimes says. "I'm very determined that we need to have a character who is unapologetic about not wanting children, who isn't going to suddenly find herself with a baby and suddenly soften up and discover, 'Oh, I wanted babies all along.' For Cristina, having a child would possibly mean a life of depression."
"This idea that for all women all you have to do is put a baby their in arms and they're going to be happy is unfair," the mother of two adds. "I really like idea of portraying the scientist in Cristina who's not interested in kids. That struggle between these two people is going to remain and be very complex. It doesn't mean they're not going to be together now but it's going to be a very complex struggle."

'Grey's Anatomy': Will Cristina and Owen Make it Back to the Firehouse?
As if Arizona hasn't already had a rough year, Thursday's episode of Grey's Anatomy will see her stricken with an ailment that could be incurable: phantom limb syndrome.
How will Arizona handle the latest hurdle since her amputation? TVGuide.com caught up with Jessica Capshaw, who also discusses how the plane crash survivors may be able to save Seattle Grace and Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Arizona's future. Get the scoop:
Exclusive Grey's Anatomy First Look: MerDer sexy time turns sour!
How will Arizona be dealing with phantom limb syndrome? Jessica Capshaw: It's completely terrifying. When we finished the table read, everyone was like, "Whoa!" It's really creepy. It's really tonally different than a lot of the show. It kind of hits on a dream sequence that's lovely, but then it takes a sharp turn into this nightmare. I think it's incredibly compelling. You can't stop watching, especially because we have the craziest, most amazing special effects team in the universe that literally spend a month on each episode, fine-tuning and making sure it looks the way it does. It's mind-bending. It's a little bit outside the box for us.
How will it affect her work? Capshaw: It's going to threaten her ability to work. The syndrome is actually that you feel pain, at times excruciating, in the limb that you actually no longer have. Seemingly, to that end, there would be no cure because you can't get rid of something that isn't there. It's about the connection between your mind and your body, and there are different therapies that you can go through to try and come to terms with it. She's going to have to go through those, and yet, because of her not wanting to deal with it, and her feeling like she can keep working, she's bringing it to work with her and it's hard to be operating on someone when you're feeling excruciating pain in your leg like someone's cutting it off.
Will Callie be there to help her through this? Capshaw: She's in denial with Callie. They're in a sweet spot right now, so I don't think she really wants to go back into the dark place and bring Callie back into the dark place with her. As Callie said a couple episodes back, "It's always about the leg. It needs to stop being about the leg." So she doesn't want to bring it up with her. She's ready to move past it. Her mind is ready to move past it, but now it's her body and her mind that are making it impossible. She ends up going to Owen (Kevin McKidd), because he recognizes in her what he recognizes in a lot of his military buddies and amputees, so he ends up helping her to find therapies that might make it easier.
Private Practice Series Finale: Did Addison get her happy ending?
How will the plane crash survivors feel about the possibility of Seattle Grace going bankrupt? Capshaw: That's such a mixed bag of tricks. On some level, wouldn't you feel betrayed by someone choosing a cheaper alternative of getting you somewhere that in some cases made you lose your leg? At the same time, punishing that source would punish the place you love so much and you work at that's part of your lifeline. It's incredibly complicated. You're damned either way. You can't get behind either thing. I don't think they're going to feel any different about the emotional value about their workplace being compromised, but they have a particular situation in which they may or may not have power to help or not help and fix everything.
Fans have assumed that they will help and give their money to the hospital. But will there be a divide within the group on whether they should do that? Capshaw: That might be the case, she says coyly. [Laughs] Certainly there's a lot of people involved, so I can't imagine they think the same thing.

FIGHT TO THE END Chief Hunt (Kevin McKidd) did his best to prove to Dr. Cahill (Constance Zimmer) that Seattle Grace should keep its ER open.
This week on Grey's Anatomy, Big Brother invaded Seattle Grace Hospital. "We're being spied on, Mer," the ever-suspicious Cristina told her best friend, while looking into the lens of a video camera that was staring down at her -- and monitoring her -- from the top of the hospital room in which she was standing. "Who knows what lurks behind that evil eye?"
That evil eye, it was quickly explained, was just one part of Dr. Cahill's grand plan to cut costs and improve workflow at the hospital. Very creepily, lurking behind that "evil eye" was a doctor who, through a microphone, was able to offer up solutions that would save money, time, resources, and whatever else. As Bailey explained, in her very Bailey manner: "There are doctors in the ceilings." Huh? Let's just let Meredith explain, as per usual.
"We've all heard the buzzwords -- streamline, optimize, integrate, adapt," said Meredith, in her episode-opening voiceover that came moments after the first sight of the cameras that had taken over Seattle Grace. "Everyday someone comes up with a new strategy or tool or technology to increase our efficiency. The idea is to make our lives easier. But the question is: Does it?"
The short answer from the doctors? Nope. And that's largely what this whole episode -- titled "Bad Blood" -- chronicled, their "nope" on everything. Specifically, the doctors did not like the changes that Cahill had instituted: Avery complained that he didn't know where to find the headlamps -- which had been reorganized into new, more efficient locations -- when he stepped in to help out with a surgery; the interns freaked that they were the next on the chopping block ("They're gonna fire us!"); and Yang continued her hatred of the cameras that were lurking around. When the doctor behind the lens, Bob, stepped in and ordered her intern to use a different treatment than she had suggested, Yang pushed back at the voice inside the camera. "Don't try to be a doctor, Bob," she barked at the camera. "Just make sure my idiot interns don't screw up. Don't butt in!" I get what the Grey's writers were going for with the cameras -- the idea of Big Brother, sure -- but it honestly came off very strange. Like, how realistic is that type of thing really? I know that science fiction often becomes reality, but this seemed more stupid than anything else.
But mind you, beyond just the cameras, Dr. Cahill's presence was felt in various other ways last night around the hospital, too. She told the doctors she needed more efficiency during surgery transition. "Your average time between surgeries is 37 minutes," she said to a group of gathered doctors. "With these new OR procedures, I'd like to see that cut in half."
NEXT: More cost-cutting by Cahill

Seattle Grace may have to close its doors at least the ER, for now unless the doctors of Grey's Anatomy can figure out how to keep the hospital alive. The obvious solution would be for the plane crash survivors, who were each awarded $15 million, to donate their money, but even that may not help.
"It's going to take more money than they have," executive producer Shonda Rhimes tells TVGuide.com.
Grey's Anatomy Scoop: Will McBaby survive?! Shonda Rhimes weighs in
That's not to say the doctors aren't thinking about it. After Bailey (Chandra Wilson) made it abundantly clear in the staff meeting that some doctors don't have millions to fall back on if Seattle Grace closes, Derek (Patrick Dempsey) will lead the charge in finding ways to save the hospital.
"There's definitely a sense of guilt involved for them in the fact that they have gotten these settlements and now the hospital's in trouble, but they also feel entirely justified for getting this settlement for what happened to them," Rhimes says.
The doctors will go to great lengths as evidenced here to save the hospital, especially April (Sarah Drew), who, as the person in charge of the ER, is more worried about her job than anyone. "Watching our doctors figure out what they're going to do and what the future is going to hold for them is going to be fairly interesting."
Grey's Anatomy's Jessica Capshaw: What will threaten Arizona's ability to work?
"The fate of the hospital is going to come around in very unexpected ways," Rhimes continues. "Once Cahill [Constance Zimmer] came in, the future of the hospital is a snowball rolling down the hill. It just gets faster and bigger and worse as things progress and saving it is not going to be as easy as anybody thinks."
But Cahill may have more on her mind than trying to save Seattle Grace, which she made clear in the elevator run-in with her former mentor Dr. Webber (James Pickens, Jr.), whose job she threatened. "Her motives and her agenda are much more complex than people realize," Rhimes says. "I think that people think that she's just coming in with cost-cutting measures and what they're going to start to realize is that cost-cutting measures are the least of their problems."

Grey's Anatomy: Will the Plane Crash Survivors Save Seattle Grace?
Coming off of "Bad Friend" - which was a pretty fun and amusing episode of Girls - we hit an emotional spot this week. In "It's a Shame About Ray," Hannah hosted a dinner party that ignited all sorts of troubles, particularly for Marnie and Shoshanna.
Meanwhile, Jessa was off at her own disastrous meal with her new in-laws, who were not invited to her wedding.
It was only a matter of time before the odd couple otherwise known as Jessa and Thomas John hit their first real marital rough patch. She's a free spirit and he's an uptight finance guy and they got married on a whim after hating each other and then hooking up for a few weeks. Did you think the first time she met his parents would go well?
It doesn't matter how well Jessa behaved when dealing with a duo like that. Actually, it was really just Thomas John's mother as his father seemed particularly enthralled by our resident Brit. While maybe I wouldn't tell my new in-laws that I went to rehab for snorting heroin, I do admire Jessa's firm stance on not hiding who she is. Isn't that why Thomas married her? She has no reason to hide her life experience just for some disapproving stiff.
Their fight was equal parts mean and hilarious. The description of his apartment as a set from gay Entourage and how she tells people he was born a test tube baby to make him more interesting was entertaining. Also, hookers don't respect you Thomas, you're a moron.
I'm a miracle. I'm a unicorn. I'm a f*cking needle in the haystack and you're just some f*cking dumb hipster who's munching my hay! | permalink
Meanwhile, across town, Hannah was hosting her post-Elijah pad thai party. It's interesting that Charlie still attends all of her parties when Marnie is her best friend. Well, it's interesting to me but certainly not to Audrey. I can't believe Charlie told her about Marnie begging to crawl into bed with him when she was sad. I also can't believe Charlie tried to kiss Marnie on the roof! I don't blame Audrey for leaving when he went after her.
A few things I loved:

NCIS just keeps rolling on, and shows no signs of slowing in quality or popularity.
As such, it's officially been renewed for an 11th season by CBS, which agreed to terms on a contract extension with star and executive producer Mark Harmon, the network announced Friday.
"In a world gone niche, NCIS keeps getting bigger, and Mark Harmon continues to define the role of leading man on the #1 show on television," CBS President and CEO Leslie Moonves said.
"NCIS is the type of franchise every company wants in today's global content ecosystem - high-quality storytelling that generates passionate viewers and drives revenue on every conceivable platform."
True, true and true.
A rarity in today's environment, NCIS' ratings have only grown since its 2003 premiere. NCIS Season 10 is has been the top-rated drama on television, averaging 21.48 million viewers.
Just last month, it delivered its second-largest audience ever with 22.86 million. The terms of Harmon's deal were not disclosed, but at this rate, Season 11 may not be the team's last.
How long can it keep this up? Time will tell, but congratulations to the cast, producers, writers and crew members for continually delivering such a quality product and for being recognized for it.

Even though the Dirty Thirty runner this week was a nasty bastard, I was so wrapped up in the story lines of our main characters in Division that I barely noticed what what was going on with their hunt. I knew they were on one, but what happened was of little consequence in comparison to the "Survival Instincts" of Michael, Owen and Sean as they got tangled up in 'missions' with Nikita and Alex.
Watching Owen's interpersonal skills was a riot. As soon as he met a female mark and she gave him that oddly feminine "kiss it" handshake and he shook it regularly, you just knew he was going to take a tumble. Seriously, does anybody know how to handle one of those awkward limp-wristed greetings?
Since Michael is still struggling with his new bionic hand, Nikita is saddled with Owen, whether she likes it or not. It's not that she doesn't enjoy his company or that he's a bad agent, he just doesn't have the finesse in the field that Michael does, and it makes her work all the more difficult.
With the member of the dirty thirty new Division was tracking down this week, finesse was greatly needed. Ray did tours in the military and ended up on death row after axing a dude he thought was messing it up with his wife. With the collapse of old Division, Rogue Ray found a real man doing his wife, Kate, shot him and announced to his frightened ex missus, "I'm back baby."
Oh goody. Kate was a pretty impressive kidnapped woman considering her history with her ex, and using the correct colloquial Western Pennsylvania term, asked to buy a "pop" and swiped her ATM so she could be tracked. Good girl!
It's not as if there wasn't already a lot of change going into Nikita Season 3, but I'm finding Michael's coordination from headquarters with Birkhoff rather exciting. Together with Nikita's pairing with Owen there are dynamics to all of their personalities we wouldn't ordinarily see. Michael is damned good at it. He could quite easily replace Ryan as the head of Division. It's always been assumed that Nikita would be the next person to take that leap, but she's a better field agent than Michael. As a female she has assets and an element of surprise that gives her an edge above her male counterparts.
Nothing spelled leader more to me than when Michael was grilling Owen and his final words of wisdom to him were, "Yeah, and your diction could use work." Owen does tend to mumble. Under Michael's tutelage, he could go from being a great cleaner to being an incredible field agent and an excellent partner to Nikita. Whether it will really come to that remains to be seen. Why? Birkhoff thinks he can get Michael's hand back. WHAT??
It was great to have Sean back, trying to patch things up with Alex and helping to take down Ray. I hadn't even realized he and Owen never met, but I loved their chest thumping as shown in this Nikita quote:
Nikita: Oh. Sean, Owen. Owen, Sean.
Sean: Yeah, from what I heard, I thought you'd be bigger.
Owen: Really? I didn't know what you'd look like, because, well, nobody ever talks about you. | permalink
Admittedly, I liked the reconciliation between Sean and Alex even more. Not only because it was preceded by a near miss shirtless Dillon Casey scene, but because they finally got to tell each other what they really meant when things went so wrong. Sean wanted her to make a choice between him and Division, but he left without giving her a chance to make a choice. Alex was pissed Sean expected her to be like most people, when most people hadn't seen their father murdered or been sold into slavery. They would never be most people.
Seeing a hit on shirtless Dillon Casey and a sexy make up and make out scene between Alex and Sean lead directly into Nikita goading Michael to finally prove to her he could take her down with one hand behind his back. He took her down - to the mat for a kiss. He ran, of course, but he'll come around. It's about damn time Nikita remembers there are some hot couples and we'd like to see some of that action in addition to what goes on in the field. Just sayin.'.
Odds Michael won't get his hand back? I'd go about 3 to 97 against not getting it back. In other words, that hand is practically attaching itself as we speak. Owen will be a cleaner again and my dreams of Michael running Division will have to wait. I hope they don't forget how good it was working and if the 3% occurs, the world won't come tumbling down, as long as Nikita and Michael are partners in life, if not in the field - so says Nikita.

Daniella Pineda will soon be heading to New Orleans.
The actress, who has guest-starred on Homeland and Men of a Certain Age, has landed a series regular role on The Originals, the wildly hyped Vampire Diaries spinoff whose backdoor pilot airs April 25.

According to Deadline sources, Pineda will portray Sophie, a witch who is intent on leading a revolution among her kind because her powers have been silences for far too long.
The series, which will almost certainly be picked up by The CW for the fall season, centers on Joseph Morgan's Klaus returning to his native New Orleans and reuniting with his evil protege, an uncast vampire named Marcel.
Phoebe Tonkin is also in as Hayley, while Daniel Gillies will return as Elijah.

The start of "Inside Jobs" made me groan, as Danny Reagan stepped back on the merry go round with yet another new partner.
I'll always miss Jackie but Kate was just starting to grow on me when the rug got pulled out from under her. Now we're introduced to Detective Candace McElroy, aka Mac.
Has anyone else found it odd that the majority of Danny's partners have been beautiful women? Or that a rookie detective's first assignment was Major Crimes?
Giving Mac a back story of being a veteran with three tours in Afghanistan certainly helped - but still. There was a little voice in my head that just thought, Ugh. Not another partner.
Sigh. At the very least I hope this one sticks around for a while. This ride makes me dizzy.
But on to other story lines... The rat theme was a fun twist and as a fan of Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio I was thrilled to see her in the role of the Goddess. It takes a strong women to not let a rat infestation slow down her fundraiser.
I liked that Erin recognized that a commitment to the charity would impact her already busy schedule and quite possibly take time away from her daughter. Then she sat down with Nicky to discuss it, over cupcakes.
I was a little surprised that Erin didn't tell Danny right away about Sophia's nickname being the Goddess. That woman must have made quite an impression on Erin in her younger days to solicit such loyalty and trust. Too bad she hadn't earned it. But sometimes our heroes are just a mirage and Sophia quickly turned out to be nothing that she appeared. The moment Erin began to question her, the Goddess couldn't have turned on her any faster.
Frank's run-in with the bigoted radio show host made for some entertaining conversation at the Reagan family dinner. As Henry pointed out in this Blue Bloods quote...
Henry: The nut cases also have rights. That's what makes this country so great and so incredibly confusing. | permalink
When Swint gave Frank that hate-filled diatribe of what he thought of New York City and assumed that Frank was on his side just because he was white, I was almost as speechless as Frank. How do you even respond to something like that?
If you are Frank Reagan, you introduce the man to the finest police department in the world. It's also one of the most diverse and it would protect Swint during his stay whether he liked it or not.
As usual, Frank Reagan managed to get his point across with quiet class and that's a rarity, both on TV and in the real world.

How far would you be willing to go to do save a life? To do what's right?
As we discussed in our Grey's Anatomy review, last night's episode featured important character developments, along with a few totally brutal cases and the changes the hospital is facing since the lawsuit.
Which brings us to next week, fittingly titled "The Face of Change."
Competition heats up as several of the doctors fight to become the new face of Seattle Grace. Meanwhile, April brings in an emergency case, and Jackson and Alex work with a transgender teen couple.
As the hospital implements new policies which test the patience of the staff, certain doctors may be pushed to their limits. Will the ER be shuttered, and what will that mean if lives are at stake?

There’s something with subway maps and anatomy. It’s easy to think of the vessels and nerves as routes feeding certain destinations throughout the body. This penis subway map, however, is taking the analogy to a whole other level.
Designer and illustrator Veit Schuetz adapted the classic MTA subway map for Brookyln-based art and design firm Cosmic Arts Enterprises‘ Spring Gallery Show in 2000. It is such a clever and engaging poster that no doubt took a lot of thinking and manipulation. Veit told New York Dick about the piece,
While the conception took only one hour of desperate staring at a map in a deserted New York subway station at 4 a.m., finishing the design in an accurate way required a lot more patience.
I bet! I love how Manhattan so perfectly fits into the form of the penile shaft.

Sivu – Better Man Than He. from Adam Powell on Vimeo.

Art, medicine, anatomy, music and entertainment collide in one of the most mesmerizing music videos I’ve seen in a long time. In order to capture the footage for the music video, UK based musician Sivu, lay in an MRI scanner at St. Barts Hospital London for hours while repeatedly singing his song,”Better Man Than He.” The real-time MRI footage shows the sagittal section of Sivu’s head as his mouth and tongue move to each word. The video also combines some coronal journeys through Sivu’s face and 3D volume rendering of his entire head.
According to director Adam Powell it didn’t seem like Sivu enjoyed the many hours of being in an MRI. But the result was definitely worth the effort! The video was created with the help of doctors Marc E. Miquel and Andrew David Scott at St Barts.
Pop in your headphones, go fullscreen and enjoy this beautiful music video and song.
