ST Aerospace Breaks Ground to Add Narrow-Body Aircraft Hangar in Singapore

Singapore, 5 November 2012 ST Aerospace today broke ground to add a narrow-body aircraft hangar at its Changi facility in Singapore. The total investment in the hangar and associated equipment amounts to $11m. The new hangar is expected to be operational by the end of third quarter 2013.

With the new hangar, ST Aerospace will extend its suite of services to support a host of wide-body and narrow-body aircraft at Changi Airport. At over 3,600 sqm, the new hangar will be able to accommodate two narrow-body aircraft such as the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320, contributing an additional 200,000 man-hours annually.

The capacity expansion is in response to robust demand for ST Aerospaces line and base maintenance services at Changi, especially from the growing fleet of low-cost carriers which typically operate narrow-body aircraft.

Changi Airport is an important air hub with excellent connectivity. Our new hangar in Changi will enable us to offer better support to our key customers who operate in Changi Airport. It will also provide us with additional capacity for growth, riding on the back of strong air traffic growth in the Asia Pacific region and the rising trend of maintenance outsourcing. ST Aerospace remains focused in bringing our suite of value-added services to more customers. ~ CHANG Cheow Teck, President, ST Aerospace

Apart from Changi, ST Aerospace operates two other airframe maintenance, repair and overhaul facilities in Singapore which are located in Seletar Aerospace Park and Paya Lebar. In February this year, it commenced construction to expand its Seletar facility. The additions in Seletar include a new purpose-built General Aviation aircraft hangar, simulator centre for pilot training, centre for aviation technical training and VIP facility for air charter customers. The Seletar construction is expected to complete in the first half of 2013.

When the additions in Seletar and Changi are both ready, ST Aerospaces global commercial airframe capacity will stand at 30 wide-body aircraft, 33 narrow-body aircraft and 24 General Aviation aircraft.

ST Aerospace (Singapore Technologies Aerospace Ltd) is the aerospace arm of ST Engineering. Operating a global MRO network with facilities and affiliates in the Americas, Asia Pacific and Europe, it is the worlds largest commercial airframe MRO provider with a global customer base that includes leading airlines, airfreight and military operators. Bourque and Sichuan Aerospace partner to create next generation power lines

TUCSON, Ariz., Nov. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Bourque Industries has begun partnership negotiations with Sichuan Aerospace Tuoxin Basalt Industrial Co., LTD (SATBI) aimed at creating a partnership to co develop, coproduce and distribute a Kryron based High Power Transmission Cable (KryronHPTC). SATBI has a full production equipment line in place and would be the initial production location for Kryron HPTC if it is successfully developed. Successful commercialization of Kryon is dependent on the services of John Bourque, Bourque Industries, Inc.'s brilliant inventor and CEO. Plans for later production facilities in the United States are part of the ongoing negotiations, assuming development is successful. The Kryron HPTC under development is anticipated 50% lighter than existing HPTC so twice as much capacity could potentially be placed on each existing tower. This could solve tens of thousands of power transmission bottlenecks and create a much lower cost of expanding network capabilities for power companies.

Management, under the direction of John Bourque, believes its Kryron HPTC can be developed so that it does not radiate significant energy. Current power lines emit energy and are suspected to present health hazards. Bourque and his team believe that its Kryron HPTC, once developed and commercially tested, may prove to be the most efficient form of power transport on the market, because of an anticipated ability to hold the current within the wires. The amount of loss prevented in long haul transmission of power could be so significant that the economies of scale would suggest a significant switch to Kryron HPTC.

The basalt core of the Kryron HPTC cable is projected to be 10 times stronger than steel, non-conductive, not to oxidize, and non-corrosive. The Kryron HPTC may have a life span of as much as 30 years, which would be a large multiple of the current life spans of HPTC lines.

Company Statement: About Bourque and Kryron Bourque Industries, Inc. is a publicly-traded advanced materials science company (BORK.PK) based in Tucson, Ariz. Bourque holds all patents for Kryron-based technology. Kryron is a patented, state-of-the-art metal alloying process that significantly alters the material characteristics of common metals, increasing strength, conductivity, melting point, and imbuing the metals with anti-corrosive and non-reactive properties. Management believes that unique Kryronized alloys have broad uses across a range of industrial segments. Bourque Industries and Kryron are trademarks of Bourque Industries.

Wayne Thomas Frye – Video

Wayne Thomas Frye
Born in Trinity, KY, he entered the US Naval Academy, Annapolis in 1950 where, besides being an outstanding student he was also a world class athlete. In 1952, he won an Olympic Gold Medal at the summer games in Helsinki, Finland, competing in Men #39;s Coxed Eights Rowing. Unlike many US Naval Academy rowers, he went on to win three titles after graduation, taking national titles in both the association single sculls and the quad sculls while rowing for the Potomac Boating Club, Washington DC. During the Vietnam War, he flew 266 combat missions flying the F-4. On December 30, 1968 Major Frye flew a mission in direct support of friendly ground forces. With complete disregard for his personal safety, he made repeated passes in marginal weather conditions, through extremely intense and accurate automatic weapons fire to deliver his ordnance with devastating accuracy. On the last pass, hostile fire hit his aircraft, painfully wounding Major Frye in the left hand. Even though he was in intense pain, losing blood, and in danger of losing consciousness, Major Frye directed his rear seat pilot to over-fly Bien Thuy Air Base and land at Bien Hoa Air Base to give him maximum opportunity to successfully complete a night rear seat landing. By his gallantry and devotion to duty, Major Frye has reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force." He retired as a US Air Force Colonel and went into Aerospace management. Encapsulation Technologies For Electronic Applications – , Michael Pecht – Video

Encapsulation Technologies For Electronic Applications - , Michael Pecht
ll4.me Encapsulation Technologies For Electronic Applications - , Michael Pecht Electronics are used in a wide range of applications including computing, communication, biomedical, automotive, military and aerospace. They must operate in varying temperature and humidity environments including indoor controlled conditions and outdoor climate changes. Moisture, ionic contamination, heat, radiation and mechanical stresses are all highly detrimental to electronic devices and can lead to device failures. Therefore, it is essential that the electronic devices be packaged for protection from their intended environments, as well as to provide handling, assembly, electrical and thermal considerations.Currently, more than 99% of microelectronic devices are plastic encapsulated. Improvements in encapsulant materials, and cost incentives have stretched the application boundaries for plastic electronic packages. Many electronic applications that traditionally used hermetic packages such as military are now using commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) plastic packages. Plastic encapsulation has the advantages of low cost, smaller form factors, and improved manufacturability. With recent trends in environmental awareness, new environmentally friendly or #39; green #39; encapsulant materials (ie without brominated additives) have emerged. Plastic packages are also being considered for use in extreme high and low temperature electronics. 3-D packaging and wafer-level-packaging (WLP) require unique ...From:michaeltaylor1599Views:0 0ratingsTime:00:13More inPeople Blogs

NASA’s Deceptions – Video

NASA #39;s Deceptions
Coast to Coast AM Science Advisor Richard C. Hoagland and former Boeing aerospace engineer Mike Bara introduced their just released book Dark Mission. It #39;s a compendium of NASA #39;s lies and deceptions, Hoagland declared. Here are some of NASA #39;s deceptions that the two authors claim have been foisted upon the American public: NASA presents itself as a civilian space agency. It #39;s actually a military agency, that won #39;t allow private enterprise space missions to leave orbit, said Hoagland. NASA views the solar system as a dead place. Then why would discoveries be classified?, asked Bara. Colored photos from Viking and Pathfinder were doctored to make the Martian sky look red. The first images of Mars actually looked like Arizona with blue skies, but NASA wants us to think that Earth is the only place for life, said Hoagland. A Martian rover pulled up a rock that appeared to contain a fossil. But it was subsequently ground up into dust rather than studied, Bara noted. The two also recounted that in 1963, JFK offered a deal with Khrushchev to team up for a joint Russian-American mission to the moon. And then, just days after Khrushchev reportedly agreed to the proposal, JFK was assassinated in Dallas. The Americans weren #39;t going to the moon as part of a space race, but for the prize of discovering a long-dead civilization, Hoagland asserted. ..........................................................................
