NASSAU, BAHAMAS Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis decision to close beaches on New Providence, Paradise Island and Grand Bahama over the Independence holiday weekend received a flurry of mixed reactions from the public on social media yesterday.

While many were outraged and strongly criticized the decision and the government, others defended the move.

The closure of beaches and parks will take effect Thursday at 10pm, until 5am next Monday, July 13.

As he addressed Parliament, the prime minister underscored the ongoing surge of new infections in the US, particularly Florida, Texas and Arizona.

He said the government was aware of what may have contributed to some of the surge.

Yesterday, Tee Moss, a New Providence resident, said the Bahamian government appeared to be piggybacking off the US policies when the population and case rates in the US and The Bahamas were vastly different.

We have just gotten the beaches back and now you play with us like kids, putting us on time out, he said.

This is a nation of free citizens, not your children.

Due to the rising cases in the US, the fourth of July celebrations were cancelled and some beaches in Florida, California and Texas closed in an effort to discourage large crowds.

Rochelle Sturrup added: So the virus [go] up on the beach on Independence then? You want to talk about surge in numbers in Florida to justify this [expletive], but the surge in numbers didnt matter on July 1 when you reopened for international flights.

Jemeka Wilkinson said it was counterintuitive to open the borders to visitors, particularly Americans who are experiencing surges of cases of COVID in their jurisdiction, if the government wished to mitigate risks.

The resumption of commercial carriers into The Bahamas occurred on July 1.

Beaches reopened on June 29.

Wilkinson said it was absurd the rights of the Bahamian people were being yanked around.

While I get there are some who will break the law, there are many doing the right thing suffering, she said.

However, Beatrice Clarke said Bahamians were ungrateful.

She said those lashing the prime minister do not understand the issues at hand.

Take a look at the United States and what they are going through all because the [masses] wanted to go on the beaches, Clarke said.

Keep yall virus in yall household and stay [your] [expletive] home.

Kenneth Richie agreed.

He said a leader must lead and expressed support for the decision to close the beach as a help toward the public being responsible in our movement.

Bradford Roker-Saunders said the decision was about managing risks.

Our recent behavior suggests that we will not follow social distancing rules, so [expletive] off the beaches. We cannot arrest and fine thousands, so this is the best option.

Others labelled the prime minister an emperor and dictator.

The dictator is now the emperor and The Bahamas is officially a police state, said Joseph Ferguson, adding that there was nothing that could be done about it.

Curtis Reno asserted the decision appeared to be prejudicial.

The beaches are only closed to black Bahamian population who use the regular beaches, he said.

The beaches over Paradise Island the hotels tourists and gated communities will be enjoying our beaches.

This emergency order, lockdowns, are no longer about COVID.

Its about a police state stripping away our rights.

Antoine Wallace said with high summer temperatures, the move was unthinkable.

He opined the rights of Bahamians were being stifled and taken away.

What is the medical justification for this madness, he continued.

Which country opens up its borders in a state of emergency?

My God, it is our countrys Independence.

This nonsense must stop. Stand up Bahamians. Stand up for your rights.

Stacey Smith charged that without a new case in over three weeks, and no COVID-19-related deaths since April, there was no reason to close the beaches.

There have been no few infections in New Providence in 22 days, Grand Bahama in 61 days and Bimini in 51 days.

As of yesterday, the total number of cases remained at 104.

However, only four cases remain active.

Health officials said last month the curve of the virus had been flattened, and while cases could appear in clusters, community spread had been curbed.

OPERATION Sovereign Bahamas held a march through the streets of New Providence on Independence Day over a myriad of issues.

The march, organised by a team including former radio talk show host Adrian Francis and attorney Maria Daxon, called for no more lies and a change to the system.

Paul Rolle, the man who was arrested last week for protesting in front of the Queen Victoria and Christopher Columbus statues, was also an organiser of the march. His attorney, Ms Daxon, feels that he was deliberately arrested on bogus charges to prevent him from attending the march.

My client is still in custody and he is now charged with threats of violence, Ms Daxon said. He was to be charged with trespassing (initially). They changed the charge. He is going to court tomorrow (Monday). This is yet another bogus charge. My team of lawyers are laughing at this as we want to know who these threats of violence are against. Who, Christopher Columbus statue?

My client was to be involved with the march we had on Independence Day. He was a part of our team. They arrested him because they didnt want him to be on the march, she claimed. They knew he was a part of our team. They know he is very strong-willed. They dont trust us. We are the problem as far as they are concerned. . .

Her client, who has been detained since last Wednesday, remains in custody at the Wulff Road Police Station. Ms Daxon thinks police intentionally detained him, knowing a holiday weekend was coming up and the next sitting of court would be Monday.

Meanwhile, the small group of protestors is demanding, among other things, the resignation of the entire Cabinet for its blatant deceit of the Bahamian people and the return to governing by the Constitution; immigration reform; an investigation into Hurricane Dorian victims and the complete disclosure of all related expenditures in Abaco and Grand Bahama; and an investigation into the oil spill in East Grand Bahama. The group is also protesting ill treatment of ordinary Bahamians by the judiciary and police.

The things that really have us concerned is that the things really belong to us but no one is telling us that truth, Mr Francis said. No one is transparent and candid enough about what is ours. So the people are tired of being lied to. We believe that there is a new order and a new day coming in the country. That new day starts now. The march represents a revolution. A period where people have decided that from 1967 until now weve gone backwards.

So we are going to take back our economy, take back our people, take back our direction. The future (of) our country is right now at stake so we march to save the future of the country. So its about people deciding that because of all that they have gone through thats enough! Enough is enough! No more lies!

Highlights of Tonights 47th Independence Live Virtual National Celebration

The public is encouraged to tune in to the broadcast this evening for a 4-hour, made-for-television, virtual Independence program that will air live from the studios of ZNS in New Providence and the Northern Bahamas tonight beginning at 8:00 p.m.

The Bahamas will observe 47 years of Independence under the theme Pressing Onward: A Time of Hope, Triumph, and Transformation.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic and measures still in effect, there will be no celebratory events that involve large gatherings.

Opening with prayer by the Bahamas Christian Council, the gala comprises the first live virtual national independence celebration in our region.

It will feature audience participation so that we hear from Bahamians all over the world. There will be Messages from the Governor General, the Prime Minister, Leader of the Opposition, and other officials. Expect powerful performances, both secular and ecumenical and comedy skits from social media stars who emerged during the pandemic. Hosts will be Jimenita Swain, Dion Johnson, Chigozie Ijeoma, Hope Shelly-Ann, Dyson and Wendi Knight, Melissa Knowles, Desmond Saunders and Bodine Johnson. Other local stations will also carry it live.

Flag Raising will begin just before midnight.

The Commonwealth of The Bahamas will observe its 47th Independence under the theme Pressing Onward: A time of Hope, Triumph and Transformation this July 10th and we are in the midst of preparing a spectacular national celebration, said the Mark Humes, MP, chairman, 2020 National Independence Celebrations committee, during a press conference on June 30th.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the committee is preparing a four-hour, made for television, virtual Independence programme, produced by Andrew Burrows, that will air Thursday, July 9th.

Mr. Humes said, this Independence will be historic as for the first time in the nations history Bahamians will not be able to gather en masse for celebrations on Bay Street, at Government House or at historic Clifford Park the site of every major Independence celebration from the downing of the Union Jack to the raising of the black, aquamarine and gold Bahamas National Flag in 1973.

This made-for-television Independence special will be in keeping with tradition and will feature a star-studded cast of young Bahamian sketch comedic artists who are making a splash all over social media including YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and tik-tok.

For this years In Memoriam, special tribute and recognition will be paid to the victims of Hurricane Dorian and COVID-19. Those persons who have lost loved ones to Hurricane Dorian and COVID-19 and would like to have them memorialized during the In Memoriam segment should send a photograph and a biography of no more than 200 words on their loved ones to email address nationalevents@bahamas.gov.bs.

Counterpoint: Religious Liberty Scores a Win at the Supreme Court, and It’s About Time – InsideSources

In a year beset by disappointing decisions from the Supreme Court, a trio of religious liberty cases decided this term provides constitutionalists with some hope.

Little Sisters of the Poor v. Pennsylvania

The Little Sisters of the Poor need no introduction. This order of female Catholic religious has been serving the elderly in 30 countries for over 175 years. Although the Little Sisters seem like an unlikely target, the order has been in the cross-hairs of one government or another for nearly a decade.

This week, in a 7-2 decision written by Justice Clarence Thomas, the Supreme Court held that the federal government had the authority to exempt the Little Sisters from its birth control mandate.

Sadly, the legal battle may not be at an end for the Little Sisters. The case likely will go forward on other grounds, but the court strongly implied that the Religious Freedom and Restoration Act (RFRA) would operate to protect the conscience rights of the Little Sisters.

That statute, the court explained, provide[s] very broad protection for religious liberty. It forbids the government from substantially burdening a persons exercise of religion unless the government can demonstrate that there is no less restrictive means by which it can further a compelling government interest.

The contraceptive mandate clearly fails RFRAs test. Certainly, there are other ways the government can provide contraceptives without forcing nuns to do so.

Espinoza v. Montana

InEspinoza v. Montana, the Supreme Court reaffirmed the fundamental right of families to send their children to the school of their choice, including religious schools. By a vote of 5 to 4, the court held that a state program to help families cover the cost of private school may not discriminate against schools with religious missions.

At issue in the case was a modest Montana program that granted tax credits for donations to organizations that awarded private-school tuition scholarships. The Montana Supreme Court held that the states Blaine Amendment forbade Montana from providing the tax credits to parents who chose a religious school.

The Supreme Court reversed the decision. The court held that Montanas Blaine Amendment discriminated against religious schools and the families whose children attend them. In an opinion written by Chief Justice Roberts, the court held that the Free Exercise Clause protects religious observers against unequal treatment.

Montana had discriminated on the basis of a schools religious status, plain and simple. The courts decision strongly suggests that the Blaine Amendments remaining in 35 states are constitutionally infirm, and may not be used to discriminate against religious schools.

Our Lady of Guadalupe v. Morrissey-Berru

In Our Lady of Guadalupe,the court held that the First Amendment bars courts from intervening in employment disputes involving teachers at religious schools. Writing for the Court Justice Alito stated that the First Amendment protects church autonomy including the right of religious institutions to decide matters of faith and doctrine without government intrusion.

This protection, Justice Alito noted, was crucial to the Framers of our Constitution the British Crown, for example, had the right to fill religious offices and to otherwise control religion. As applied to schools, the court recognized that teachers who are entrusted with inculcating religious values and beliefs are ministers of the faith, even though they are not formally ordained.

As such, the government may not interfere with a religious schools decision to hire or fire such an employee.

As Alito recognized, parents choose to send their children to religious schools for religious education and formation. Thus, a narrow interpretation of the ministerial exception would have interfered with the ability of parents to raise their children with a distinctly religious education.

In short, teachers at religious schools play a critical role in transmitting the faith to the next generation and are properly categorized as ministers.

Conclusion

Justice Thomas has famously lamented that the Free Exercise Clause seems to rest precariously on the lowest rung of the Courts ladder of rights. With its trifecta of religious liberty decisions this term, the Supreme Court may finally be poised to give equal weight to religious liberty.

Its about time.

Protesters Want Police To Rethink Moving Back To East Liberty – 90.5 WESA

More than six weeks after George Floyd was killed under the knee of a Minneapolis police officer, protests in Pittsburgh continued to call for sweeping changes to the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police and an end to systemic racism.

Hundreds gathered in East Liberty Monday afternoon at the former Zone 5 police station in East Liberty, which protesters say the police department plans to reoccupy and marched throughout East Liberty and Friendship to protest the move, and to call on city officials to defund the police.

There is still a lot of high-end development thats going on in this city. We still have this divide in Penn Avenue," organizer Randall Taylor said. "On one side of the street are upscale businesses and on the other side of the street are businesses that cater primarily to an African American consumer.

Taylor believes that returning the police station to the area will make things worse, pushing even more Black people out by making them feel too uncomfortable to live, travel through or shop in the neighborhood.

When you have more police presence, youre going to have more interactions with police, and when you have more interactions, that's going to lead to more arrests and other unpleasant things, he said.

Taylor envisions a new use for the Zone 5 station.

We need to convert that police station into a peace station, p-e-a-c-e, and talk about how to use that space to create a stronger community, he said.

Protesters also wanted to protect themselves and one another from contracting COVID-19. In attempts to do so, organizers did several 6-feet checks and asked protesters to spread out from one another. Everyone wore masks.

A public safety spokesperson could not be reached for comment about the departments plans for moving back to the East Liberty station. A leaky roof and sewer problems at the North Euclid Ave. station prompted the police to move to another building on Washington Blvd in 2007, according to reporting from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The building was shared with firefighters who moved out last summer for repairs, according to a police press release.

But East Liberty has undergone massive changes since the building was last used -- and the dialogue over policing has shifted across the country in the past few months.

Pittsburgh needs to make changes, said Nique Craft, one of the leaders of a Monday protest. This is a civil rights movement for a lot of us and it is important. You dont do this because you have time off of work. You do it because you mean it.

Liberty’s Oliver proving a worthy successor to his local legend father – The Bakersfield Californian

Jason Oliver Jr. knows what it means anytime he sees "the look."

Oliver, who carved out a starting cornerback role in his sophomore season at Liberty High School last fall, rarely needs to be told when he's made a mistake, as confirmation tends to come via a single sideline glance from his father Jason Sr., who coaches the team's defensive backs and receivers.

"If I make a mistake, its to a point where we just have a look and we know what I did wrong," Jason Jr. said. "I just look at him and we can fix it.

Jason Sr. said this almost telepathic relationship formed through years of running drills on the practice field and the backyard, where he's attempted to fine-tune every aspect of his son's game.

"It's so many hours put in to the point where we've grounded it in," Jason Sr. said. "I can just look at him and right away, he knows 'Ok, technique right here broke down.'"

While the father-son pair's commitment to grinding out drills likely isn't a surprise to many in Kern County, the elder Oliver says this path wasn't always preordained for his son.

A star at Bakersfield High School in the late 80s, Oliver's stature in the local football community only grew after a run at USC, where he recorded 11 career interceptions as a defensive back from 1990-93.

But when he and wife Nicole had a son in 2004, Jason Sr., whose birth name is Durant Jason Oliver, wanted to carry on his name without putting any pressure on his child to follow in his gridiron footsteps.

By slightly altering the name, the couple hoped people wouldn't instantly associate son Jason Durant Oliver with his father's on-field accomplishments. The plan didn't work.

"I didn't want to make him a junior like that, because what if he doesn't want to play football?" Jason Sr. said. "But everybody specifically switched his name to make him a junior. I kind of doomed him with that."

The younger Oliver needed little convincing to take the field himself, though, with his dad saying he began asking to go through workouts "while he still had Pull-Ups on."

Entering high school with hopes of landing a Division-I scholarship, Jason Jr. put himself in position to achieve that goal during a sophomore season where he played a key role on a Liberty defense that allowed seven or fewer points in six of 12 games.

He recorded two interceptions on the year, the biggest coming in the SWYL opener against Centennial. With the Golden Hawks down 14-7 and 11 yards away from tying the game in the third quarter, Oliver jumped a route in the end zone to return the momentum to the Patriots, who went on to win 17-7en route to a third consecutive unbeaten run in league play.

That early progress has already caught the attention of a Pac-12 program. In May, just weeks before his 16th birthday, Jason Jr. was elated and surprised to receive his first offer from Utah, a program that had three DBs selected in the first three rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft.

"That was so awesome, but I was definitely surprised I got that offer so early," he said. "I had my mom sitting right next to me and I was the happiest kid in the world."

With two years until college begins, Jason Jr. is hoping to further boost his stock in the coming seasons. Listed at just 145 pounds, he's aiming to add considerable bulk to his frame while also improving his footwork and ball skills.

Jason Jr. is among the fearful, expressing concern that he could lose out on a season where both individual and team expectations are sky high.

"Right now, it's not looking too good for us," he said. "If we don't have (a season), I'll just have to wait for my senior year, show out then. ButIm a little worried because I was really looking forward to this season, because we have a good team coming in. I was hoping wed (have) a chance at Valley."

Until team activities can resume, workouts will likely be limited to the backyard at the Oliver house, where Jason Jr. will attempt to make needed improvements to his game, all while avoiding dreaded critical looks from his father.

But with his son seemingly on pace to exceed his lofty accomplishments, Jason Sr. expectsthose disapproving glances will be few and far between.

His skillset, in my opinion, is clearly ahead of mine," he said. "I didnt get offered a Division-I scholarship as a 15 year old. I didnt play varsity as a sophomore. Hes faster than I am, quicker, better ball skills. I dont know if thats dad talk, but hes clearly going to be a better athlete than his dad was.

Kelly D. Stretcher of First Liberty National Bank has been elected to the board of directors of the Texas Bankers Association. He was elected during the associations first Virtual Annual Convention. His first term was nearly 11 years ago while he was the president and COO of First National Bank of Gilmer.

Stretcher, a 1997 graduate of the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University, has an Ag Education degree from East Texas State University. With over 30 years in banking, Stretcher and his team has made great strides to improve customer service and technology within First Liberty National Bank, one of which is the installation of the countys first Interactive Video Teller machine.

He is active in the community as a member of the Masonic Lodge, Liberty Rotary Club and TVEs executive board.

Chairman of the Board Charles McGuire said, Kellys leadership skills and banking knowledge has allowed our bank to compete with any bank anywhere. Liberty Township responds to criticism over DD project in Licking County – The Newark Advocate

The Board of Trustees of Liberty Township, Licking County, Ohio, wants to take the opportunity to address the rampant misinformation regarding two applications for zoning certificates to permit two group homes proposed to be constructed and located in Liberty

Township. First, the Board of Trustees does not review applications for zoning certificates, does not have the authority to approve or reject them, and, contrary to baseless statements, has not rejected either application.

Second, each time the applications have been submitted to Liberty Township, and they have been submitted twice, they have been incomplete, and have failed to include all of the necessary information required for these types of applications under the Liberty Township Zoning Resolution. If Liberty Township receives completed applications, they will be reviewed by the Zoning Department, which will make the initial determination and identify any next steps that may be required, in accordance with Liberty Townships process for handling such applications.

Liberty Township Trustees, Board of DD differ on why project failed

Third, Great Lakes Property Development, a third-party builder, was the stated applicant for these two proposals, not the Licking County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Liberty Township has made multiple requests for the additional information that is missing from the applications, on June 16th and June 21st. Finally, on June 25th, the applications were denied by the Zoning Department for lack of complete information. The truth and facts are that Liberty Township has yet to receive a set of complete applications, and hence has not made any determination based on building or use.

It is unfortunate that the Licking County Board of Developmental Disabilities has found it necessary to resort to the court of public opinion rather than work with the builder to submit completed application materials to Liberty Township. If the Editorial Board has additional information to support its unfounded assertions, please provide thati nformation to Liberty Township and, if no such information exists, the Board of Trustees requests a retraction of its June 28, 2020 editorial.

The Licking County Board of Developmental Disabilities disputes the claims that their applications were incomplete. Also, while the original editorial did wrongly imply that the trustees formally rejected the project in avote, The Advocate's editorial board stands by its belief that the trustees helped foster a situation where the board of developmental disabilities felt unwanted in Liberty Township. This in practice killed the project from moving forward in the area, which the editorial board believes is more important than whether the trustees held a formal vote on the issue.

Drive-through water collection to benefit Liberty County firefighters set for Aug. 1 – Bluebonnet News

Fire stations across Liberty County will be collecting bottled water and Gatorade in the H20 for Heroes Water Collection Drive on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. As the temperatures rise so does the physical demand on firefighters, making it an even more critical time to stay hydrated as they battle fires and respond to emergencies.

Residents, churches, non-profits organizations and businesses in Liberty County are being encouraged to participate. In addition to cases of water and Gatorade, organizers of the drive are asking for donations of individually-packaged salty snacks, such as nuts, crackers and trail mix.

Organizers are striving to maintain a no-contact way of collecting the items, such as setting up tables outside the fire stations where people can leave the items. At some stations, a firefighter may also be on site to help unload the items with limited contact with the donor, thereby working to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Nicolus Nelson with Liberty County ESD 3, one of the organizers, said that donations can be made in advance by arranging the deliveries with the fire departments in the donors community.

They can always drop off items at the front door of the fire stations, he said.

It's been a year and a half since anyone has heard from Seth Svabik -- now his family and police are offering a reward for information

LIBERTY TWP., Ohio (WKBN) What happened to Seth Svabik? Its a question both his family and police want an answer to. Now theyre offering a $5,000 reward for information that could lead them to the missing man.

Seth has ties to Cincinnati and Ludlow, Kentucky, but seemingly disappeared from Trumbull County January 9, 2019 without a trace.

There has to be somebody that knows something, said Thomas Svabik, Seths father.

The Svabik family is pleading for answers. Its been a year and a half to the day since Seth left a rehab facility in Warren.

His last known location was Motel 6 on Belmont Avenue in Liberty, where Thomas said Seth was turned away from, most likely because he was high.

Seth is a very sensitive, caring person, said Bonnie Svabik, his stepmother. He really has a good heart and its sad he got into this mess with the drugs.

Seth was on the phone with his mother, who lives out of town, as he walked away. Thomas told us the last thing she heard him say.

Hey bud, how you doin? So we dont know if that was just a casual greeting, or that was someone that he knew that was coming to pick him up or something like that because he did have a lot of friends in the area.

Seths bags were left behind, found across the street. Other than that, it seems he vanished in plain sight from busy Belmont Avenue without a trace.

When processing petroleum, refineries can produce products in varying amounts to meet regional demands. The International Energy Agencys Monthly Oil Statistics shows that there are differences in refinery output throughout the world.

In the Americas, gasoline accounted for just above 40% of the products refined from petroleum in 2019, while in Europe and Asia Oceania, gasoline was less than 20%. Conversely, in Europe, diesel accounted for 40% of the petroleum refined versus about 30% for the Americas and Asia Oceania.

Teaonui Tehau invited for trial in the Netherlands – Football in Oceania

Teaonui Tehaus dream to play in Europe might become reality. The record-breaking striker of Tahitian football club AS Venus has been officially invited for a trial at a semi-professional football club in The Netherlands competing in the 3rd national league. However he has to hurry to get his funds ready in order to not miss this chance of a lifetime. Pre-season in the Dutch top leagues started on the 7th of July but the club is yet waiting the trial confirmation by Tehau.

His talent was noticed by Dutchman Paul Driessen during the 2019 Pacific Games in Samoa. Driessen, a registered intermediary at the Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) has been active in Oceania since 2010 with the Netherlands Oceania Support Foundation. He visited the tournament in a double role as intermediary.

Our goal has always been to build a solid bridge between Oceania and Europe for football. The foundation recruits coaches for national football federations in Oceania and organises training camps in The Netherlands for national football teams. On the other hand, I am also active as scout for talent who dream of playing in Europe, Driessen said in a press release.

Last February I visited AS Venus in Tahiti. I wanted to see three national team players competing in real time twice. I was impressed about the overall quality of talent within the club and had a fruitful conversation with the club board and several players. So I expressed my ambition to help them in fulfilling their dream: Having a football career in Europe.

Driessen has been promoting the Tahiti national team players in The Netherlands in the past months. Especially Teaonui Tehau, who attracted a lot of attention in The Netherlands due to his impressive scoring ability.

Teaonui and I had regular contact on the development via Facebook Messenger over the past month. He told me that it is his dream to play in Europe, even if its just for one season, Driessen said.

Teaonui received an official invitation letter from 3rd national league club Kozakken Boys. This club is semi-professional according to Dutch standards and holds a very rich club culture and history.

The first team is a mixture of cultures which makes it easy for someone from Tahiti to get integrated. The club is located in a town called Werkendam and is driven by many professionals and fans from a devoted community. The stadium has reached an audience of 5,000 visitors during national league cup matches so there is a great fanbase there as well. Kozakken Boys delivers several football players to the professional leagues every year. This is a great hub for Teoanui to become a full-professional football player.

Teaonui will be part of a team consisting many former professional football players. One of those players is former Real Madrid player Royston Drenthe.

Teaonui can learn a lot from these players. It is essential that he comes to The Netherlands while he is still 27 years old.

Most professional football clubs in The Netherlands turned down my offer as they regarded him as too old. The transfer value of a 27-year old player is simply lower than of a 21-year old player. But I believe in him and so does Kozakken Boys. We have to grab this opportunity with both hands. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Now or never. There is no second chance for Teaonui because he will be 29 at the start of next years season. Another major reason to take this opportunity is that Teaonui will pave the way for other talent from Tahiti in the future. I expect that more invitations will follow in the future if he succeeds.

He can be an eye opener for professional clubs in The Netherlands as a proof that Tahiti contains a great source of talent. Having national team players play at a professional senior level would make the Tahiti national team much stronger. Great examples in this development strategies are New Zealand and New Caledonia with quite a number of internationals playing abroad, Driessen said.

Teaonui is invited for a two-week trial and is expected to arrive in The Netherlands on the 20th of July. There are four matches scheduled during his trial.

The invitation is there. The only thing he has to do is to get his funds ready to book his flight and accommodation. This should happen within 5 days from now to avoid the inviting club moving on to another invitation, Driessen said.

Oceania esports team Dire Wolves has revealed its new management team as part of a series of announcements this week that will include a rebrand and entry into new games. Jason Spiller assumes the role as owner of the organization, after firm Guinevere Capital and other backers divested their interest earlier this year, in line with Riot Games rules on multi-team ownership in League of Legends esports.

Dave Harris, managing director of Guinevere Capital, told The Esports Observer that while his company will continue its team business in Europe with Excel Esports and the London Spitfire, in Oceania it transitioned to a service provider role through agency work and via its Esports High Performance Centers.

The key has been to find people that have that non-endemic esport experience, as well as endemic experience, he said. That is like gold dust in this industry, and its great that its finally worked with Dire Wolves, with Jason and his backers able to step in.

Spiller has a 15-year tenure in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ)s gaming and esports scene. From 2015-17 he was lead for a number of categories for Microsoft in the region, including first-party Xbox titles and Halo esports events, before joining Omen by HP for two years, most recently as marketing manager for gaming, esports, and immersive technologies.

Connecting with Harris through the Esports Games Association Australia (EGAA), Spiller saw an opportunity to support ANZ esports as a whole, particularly his own country of New Zealand. Im very passionate about supporting Kiwis, especially because there are a great amount of New Zealanders that I think can make a big impact on the world, and the Dire Wolves seem to be the perfect way to try and continue doing that, he said.

Alongside Spiller, Richard Bryan joins the Dire Wolves as head of production. Bryan has produced tournaments for Omen by HP in the past, and has a background in music and film production. Head of Content William Slingsby has worked with numerous esports teams, TVNZ, and Auckland Basketball, and self-produced the Four v Four documentary series on New Zealands Halo scene. Jordan Gardiner, head of design, has built UI assets for major LAN events in the region, and created the new logo and branding to be unveiled later this week.

On the performance side, Craig Nimmo joins as general manager, returning to esports after a three year IT management tenure with Australian supermarket chain Coles. I met him years ago when he was commentating in APAC and ANZ for Call of Duty 4, and Battlefield, Spiller said. Hes got a ton of experience both in gaming and more generally in managing complex organizations. It was just a massive win to be able to bring him on.

Republicans claim Biden is China's pocket and accuse him of leading (or being led) by leftist anarchists, as Trump stokes a backlash against Black Lives Matter. And now that Trump has finally worn a mask, his flacks say he carries it off better than Biden, who's had one for weeks.Presidents seeking reelection must disqualify their rival as a potential replacement in the Oval Office. In 2012, Barack Obama's team went after Mitt Romney early and hard -- ruthlessly framing him as a heartless vulture capitalist -- an image the Republican later exacerbated with his own errors. George W. Bush eviscerated Democrat John Kerry as a ditherer, while allies shredded the Democrat's record as a Vietnam War hero, raising doubts about whether he was tough to lead a traumatized wartime nation only three years after 9/11.

But in the 2020 race, nothing seems to be sticking.
