The iodine clock reaction. 6 students. Robyn, Octavia, Tom, Flo and Joe. Each student has a measuring cylinder with a unique concentration of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Each student has conical flask with an identical mixture of sodium thiosulfate (Na2S2O3) and potassium iodide (KI). When mixed, the to solutions remain colourless because, although iodide ions are oxidised to iodine molecules by the hydrogen peroxide, the iodine molecules are immediately reduced back to iodide by the thiosulfate ions. When the thiosulfate ions run out, the iodine molecules exist permanently and turn the solution blue/black.From:Phoenixchaser1Views:2 0ratingsTime:03:14More inEducation
