Miami Beach, Fla., June 8, 2012: Piramal Imaging SA, a subsidiary of Piramal Healthcare Limited [NSE: PIRHEALTH, BSE: 500302], will present data on several compounds from its molecular imaging portfolio at the Society of Nuclear Medicine's 59th annual meeting in Miami Beach, Fla., from June 9 - 13. Data from five florbetaben studies will be featured, including results from a pivotal Phase III trial which will provide the basis for regulatory submission later this year.
Earlier this spring, Piramal Imaging was formed through the acquisition of worldwide rights to the molecular imaging research and development portfolio of Bayer Pharma AG. Florbetaben, a late-stage amyloid imaging agent being studied as a potential tool to aid in the diagnosis and assessment of Alzheimer's disease, is the lead compound in the portfolio.
Historically, the only way to definitively diagnose Alzheimer's disease has been after death at autopsy through analysis and identification of beta-amyloid in brain tissue. The global Phase III trial employed a unique and rigorous study design comparing in vivo brain positron emission tomography (PET) imaging with florbetaben to post-mortem analysis of the brain tissue. Another study compared florbetaben scans of people with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) over time to assess their risk of developing Alzheimer's disease.
"What better way to introduce Piramal Imaging to the nuclear medicine community," says Dr. Ludger M. Dinkelborg, CEO Piramal Imaging. "We believe we have the richest molecular imaging portfolio in the industry today, and the range of research we are presenting here reflects the depth, diversity and clinical relevance of our pipeline." Before co-founding Piramal Imaging, Dr. Dinkelborg served as Head of Diagnostic Imaging Research and Head of Molecular Imaging at Bayer Healthcare.
Piramal Imaging is developing an innovative and proprietary tracer portfolio to address major clinical needs in Alzheimer's disease, prostate cancer, lung cancer, liver cancer, and cardiovascular disease.
"Our goal is to be a leader in molecular imaging through increased diagnostic accuracy of serious medical conditions to improve patient care," says Dr. Swati A. Piramal, Director, Piramal Healthcare Limited. "On a parallel track with our aggressive clinical development program, we are taking the necessary steps toward bringing our tracers to market through the formation of strategic partnerships." Dr. Piramal was recently elected to the Harvard Board of Overseers and also serves on the Dean's Advisory Board of both the Harvard School of Public Health and Harvard Business School.
At this meeting, research on several of the company's pipeline compounds will be featured, including:

07-06-2012 16:58 This is one solid Kalashnikov! This is honestly the most impresive CYMA gun I have handled to date in terms of their AK series. The RPK-74 is a great all-around skirmish weapon and has many features that almost put it into a weapon class of its own. This weapon gets 9 out of 10 for me, and I must say that if I were going to go back to AKs, then this would be among the first on my list. Keep in mind that every time I use the word "RPK" I am referring to the RPK-74. A big thanks to Mike Jonesi (AirsoftReviewers2012) for making this video possible for lending me his RPK! MIAMI, June 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --At this year's SNM Annual Meeting, June 9-13, Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHI) is highlighting its portfolio of nuclear medicine (NM) applications for IntelliSpace Portal, adding to its existing portfolio of CT, MR and multimodality applications. The full suite of NM applications will now offer comprehensive processing and review capabilities at a level normally reserved exclusively for dedicated NM workstations. The company will also showcase solutions designed to increase diagnostic confidence, enhance patient comfort, augment physician confidence, simplify clinical workflow and reduce lifecycle costs.

WASHINGTON (AP) Cappie Pondexter credited one sleepless night on the road with her role in the New York Liberty's turnaround. Early slumbering once again cost the Mystics.
Pondexter scored 25 points, the Liberty took control with a 30-5 first-half run and survived a frantic fourth quarter for their first road victory of the season, 76-70 over the Washington Mystics on Friday night.
Leilani Mitchell hit four 3-pointers and scored 16 points for the Liberty, winners of three straight after opening the season 0-5. The latest victory also snapped a five-game losing streak in Washington dating to the 2009 season.
New York shot 60 percent (21 of 35) from the field in the first half, including 5 of 6 from beyond the arc and held a 29 point with just under nine minutes 9 in the second quarter.
Crystal Langhorne led the Mystics (1-5) with 24 points.
Trailing 65-45 late in the third quarter, the Mystics pulled closer when Langhorne fueled a 15-2 run, followed by a spree of 3-point field goals. Matee Ajavon drilled her second from beyond the arc in the fourth quarter with 1:37 remaining as Washington trailed 73-70, but Essence Carson countered with a 3-pointer of her own on New York's next possession.
''We did a lot of great things in the first half, kind of shocked Washington,'' said Pondexter, who shot 9 of 13 from the field. ''They didn't expect us to come out as aggressive as we did. I think they made some adjustments in the second half. We got a little winded, but we played a solid game.''
The Liberty lost their three previous road games this season by an average of 21.3 points, including 91-68 at Indiana on June 2.
''It was embarrassing,'' Pondexter said. ''Myself, the leader of this team, I was angry, probably the worst team has ever seen me. I couldn't sleep. We had a back-to-back so I was pretty much up all night, just trying to figure things out."
Langhorne scored 10 points during the second-half rally. In her first start this season, Michelle Snow finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The divvying up of the state Republican Party's delegates to the national convention has melted down into a dispute between party leaders lining up behind presumed nominee Mitt Romney and supporters of libertarian Ron Paul.
If the two sides can't work out their differences, national party officials might be called on to decide which delegates from Louisiana can go to Florida in August.
A Republican meeting in Shreveport over the weekend led to dueling conventions, delegates carted out by the police and Paul supporters describing injuries from the melee.

In an interview with Hotsheet, the former Republican New Mexico governor harshly criticized President Obama's statement he made on the on the economy where he called on Congress to pass additional aid for states and provide support for the construction industry.
"He talked about the U.S economy and the tools he has to allow the federal government to be flexible when it comes to states. Well, what he's talking about is printing money," said Johnson, who is a critic of federal monetary policy.
During his news conference Friday morning on the economy, the president warned against too much austerity too quickly, saying it could damage economic recovery. Johnson disagrees, saying that too much spending will lead to monetary collapse.
Johnson said the U.S. is "not immune from the mathematics of continuing to borrow and print money," adding that "we're only six years away from being in Greece's same statistical situation."
The president warned about Europe's economic challenges as the Euro Zone struggles to determine a path forward with Greece, Spain and Italy facing deep debt and high unemployment. Mr. Obama said Europe's challenges could impact the U.S.'s economic recovery. Johnson said the president is applying a double standard.
"On one hand he's talking exactly what we need to be doing and on the other hand he's getting us further in debt which is what he says is getting the European countries in trouble," Johnson said.
Johnson, who first ran as a Republican candidate for president but dropped his failed bid after not gaining significant support, said he would propose to cut $1.4 trillion from the 2014 budget - 43 percent of the federal budget. He also called for the tax system to be based on consumption instead of income, supporting what is known as the "Fair Tax," or a 23 percent national sales tax. He said it "reboots the economy for the next 100 years."
"Because in a 0 percent corporate tax rate environment, if the private sector doesn't create tens of millions of jobs, I don't know what it's going to take to do that," he said.

Gary Johnson compares U.S. to Greece, laughs at Obama's economic plan
VIDEO
Libertarian presidential candidate Gary Johnson released a dark new campaign ad on Wednesday, in which the candidate pleads with members of all third parties (Green, Constitution, etc.) to be libertarian with me this one time so that he may prove that peace, prosperity, and freedom work once and for all.
Members of all political parties, Johnson says in the ad, I reach out to everyone with a vote and an axe to grind. From the Tea Party, the Constitution Party, the Green and Libertarian parties, I call out to all of you, including the disaffected and disillusioned among the Republicans and Democrats.
This is somewhat similar to the strategy libertarian-ish Republican candidate Ron Paul took in 2008, when he publicly aligned with perennial independent candidate Ralph Nader, Green candidate Cynthia McKinney, and Constitution candidate Chuck Baldwin, in an attempt to band together all third parties to promote a singular alternative to the two major parties.
We the people will never agree on the small things, Johnsons ad continues, but lets agree on the big things: our leaders have blown it. If we dont get control of this ship together and fix it together, we all go down with it together Lets put our parties and our differences aside, one time.
Be libertarian with me for one election, Johnson pleads. Together well stop the spending and end the wars. Together well rebuild our own roads, bridges, schools and hospitals instead of building theirs half a world away. Together well restore our industrial might and our economy. And if, in four years, we the people decide we dont like peace, prosperity, and freedom, we can always vote tyranny back into office again.
Check out the ad below:
In addition, on Friday morning, Johnson appeared on MSNBCs The Daily Rundown, where host Chuck Todd asked the candidate if he thinks he will steal votes away from Republican candidate Mitt Romney in November.
Johnson denied that hell be a spoiler for the Republicans, saying that In the states that they have polled, its been an absolute mixed bag. In [my home state] New Mexico, I take more votes from Obama than I do Romney. In some states I take a few percentage points from Romney, in some states, I take a few percentage points from Obama.
He believes he will take votes away from both parties because the majority of Americans fall in the category of being fiscally responsibility and socially tolerant. Im in that category. I think I do better than Obama when it comes to civil liberties. I think I do better than Romney when it comes to dollars and cents. And I do base that on the fact that I was a two-term governor of New Mexico, and I think I was very successful.

Libertarian Candidateās New Ad Pleads: āBe Libertarian With Me This One Timeā
LONDON - Britains Latin America minister on Thursday accused Argentina of using its power to dent the economy of the Falklands Islands, as he prepares to visit the tiny South Atlantic archipelago to mark the 30th anniversary of a brief and bloody war between the two countries over the territory.
Jeremy Browne, who will visit the Falklands next week, said attempts to develop tourism in the islands a self-governing British Overseas Territory also claimed by Argentina were being damaged by actions taken by Buenos Aires.
The islands are seeking to attract visitors to boost tourism, hoping to capitalize on the territorys wide variety of wildlife, including penguins, sea lions and the rare caracara bird.
In recent months, Argentine ports have turned away cruise ships carrying the British flag, while flights passing through the islands are restricted from Argentine airspace. In addition, Argentina has recently called on its Latin American neighbours to boycott British goods.
Tensions have risen ahead of the June 14 anniversary of the end of the short war between Argentina and Britain over the Falklands, which began on April 2, 1982, and saw more than 900 people die.
Argentines insist Britain has illegally occupied the islands they call the Islas Malvinas since 1833. Britain accuses Buenos Aires of ignoring the wishes of the islanders, who say they are happy with their current status as a British outpost.
There is a G-20 country, at the top table of world affairs and one would imagine keen to be responsible on the world stage with a population of about 40 million people, seeking to put an economic blockade in place which will in tangible terms ... impoverish an isolated community with about 3,000 people, Browne told reporters ahead of his visit.
Browne, who has held talks in London with Argentinas ambassador Alicia Castro, said the move by the countrys government to sue five British companies involved in oil exploration off the coast of the Falklands were doomed to fail.
The prospect of exploiting undersea gas and oil reserves in the seas surrounding the islands has further fueled hostilities between the British and Argentine governments.
The lawsuits are part of trying to frustrate the economic development of the Falkland Islands, Browne said. But I dont get any sense that what Argentina is doing will impede oil exploration.

British minister: Argentina denting Falkland Islands economy, risks harming isolated community
In the invitation to Buenos Aires on Friday, Hector Timerman, Argentina's foreign minister, said: "As Winston Churchill would say: 'You need courage to sit down and listen'."
"The UK has a long-standing interest in building a stronger partnership with Argentina on a broad range of issues of mutual interest.
"The only issue that we will not discuss is the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands, unless and until the islanders wish us to do so.
"We will issue a formal response in due course."
On Thursday, Mr Browne criticised Argentina's "domineering behaviour" over President Cristina Kirchner's plan to address a UN "decolonisation committee" in New York next week.
She will be the first head of state ever to address the gathering.
Mrs Kirchner has tried to maximise economic pressure on the Falklands by preventing any cruise ships which stop at the islands from using Argentina's ports. She has also begun legal action against companies exploring for oil in the waters around the British territory.
Mr Browne accused Argentina, with a population of 40 million, of trying to "impoverish an isolated community of about 3,000 people". He asked: "Which party is behaving in a domineering way?"

House Republicans say a drugmaker- funded advertising campaign run by supposedly independent groups was part of an agreement with the Obama administration to help pass the U.S. health-care law in 2010.
Republicans are using e-mails and memos to agitate against the overhaul ahead of a U.S. Supreme Court decision on the laws constitutionality, due later this month. The correspondence involved White House aides, drugmaker lobbyists and Democratic strategists as they built support for the law.
The documents, released on May 31 and yesterday, suggest presidential aides helped plan a $150 million advertising campaign paid for by the drug industry. The advertisers were seemingly independent groups created by the lobbyists in consultation with strategists linked to the administration, the memos suggest. The organizations were called Healthy Economy Now and Americans for Stable Quality Care.
The memos show that the White House traded billions of dollars in policy concessions to PhRMA for millions of dollars worth of advertising, said House Speaker John Boehner, a Republican from Ohio. PhRMA is the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, the industrys Washington lobby group.
The accusations are baseless and politically driven, wrote Eric Schultz, a White House spokesman, in an e- mail. Republicans, who previously admitted this is not serious and merely a partisan effort to distract the Presidents re- election campaign, are now attempting to recycle an old story that was well covered during the original debate.
The drug industry agreed to $80 billion to $125 billion in taxes, discounts and other concessions to help fund the health laws programs during the run-up to approval in March 2010. They avoided potentially harmful policies, including one that would have allowed importation of cheaper brand-name drugs, an issue PhRMA lobbyists discussed at length with the Administration, according to the memos released last month.
At a news conference yesterday in Washington, Boehner called the groups created by the lobbyists to run the ad campaign a Super PAC paid for by PhRMA, and run by Jim Messina out of the West Wing of the White House.
This is wrong and the administration must be held accountable for their actions, Boehner said.
At the time of the e-mails, Messina was an aide to then- White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel. He now manages Obamas re-election campaign. The health-care law was passed without a single Republican vote.

The rate of young adults without health insurance has dropped because of President Barack Obama's health care reform law, but expanded coverage for the age group could disappear if the Supreme Court strikes down the statute, a Gallup poll out Friday shows.
When health care reform became law in March 2010, 28 percent of Americans aged 18-25 did not have health insurance. During the first quarter of this year, that rate had fallen to 23 percent. Obama's law allows people under age 26 to remain on their parents' insurance plans, which has provided health benefits to a population that historically has been less likely to have coverage.
The Supreme Court is expected to issue a decision by the end of this month on whether Obama's health care reform law is constitutional. Justices could uphold the law, invalidate the individual mandate that most people must obtain health coverage or other provisions, or strike down the entire statute. Under the last scenario, young adults would lose the guarantee of coverage they now have through their parents' insurance.
"The young adults who appear to have taken advantage of the provision allowing them to stay on their parents' health insurance until age 26 may lose their coverage. Thus, these young adults will be even more reliant on an upturn in the economy for access to health insurance," according to Gallup.
Overall, 16.9 percent of Americans have no health insurance, Gallup reports. The Census Bureau estimates that almost 50 million people in the U.S. are uninsured. Young adults continue to have higher rates of uninsurance than older Americans. Because Medicare covers anyone aged 65 or older, just 3 percent of senior citizens had no health insurance during the first three months of this year. The uninsured rate for working-age adults between 25 and 64 years old was 19.6 percent in the first quarter, which is almost five percentage points higher than in January 2008, according to Gallup.
Health insurance coverage translated into better access to medical care in states that enacted their own laws for young adults prior to the national reforms, according to a recent study from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. It doesn't fix everything, however, as the Commonwealth Fund illustrates in a report issued Friday. Costs remain burdensome even for young adults with health insurance: 36 percent of people aged 19 to 29 reported they had difficulty paying medical bills or were in debt because of health care expenses.
There's a chance young adults might not lose the health coverage they get through their parents, even if Obama's law is repealed. Health insurance companies may be reluctant to dump young adults because their parents, who are the paying customers, like the policy. Likewise, some congressional Republicans have indicated that they would attempt to restore this popular provision of health care reform, though the party remains divided about how, or whether, to respond to a potential repeal of Obama's law.
