The bus pulled into Luang Prabang bus station at 5.45am two hours ahead of schedule. I'd probably got about four hours sleep in the night but felt surprisingly chipper as we greeted by the usual mob of tuc tuc drivers. Although the prospect of killing three hours before check in didn't fill me with joy I was glad to get off of the bus and leave my green faced friend behind. The seven of us piled

5 day race
With a sigh of relief I threw my bag down on the dark Galacian granite of the plaza laid on the sunwarmed ground and watched the shadows march down the cathedral spires as the sun slowly sank behind the hills. Warm Dry Greetings from SantiagoAfter 550 kilometers just under 350 miles more blisters than I care to count and almost three weeks I am in Santiago de Compostela. I had planned my
Steamy South
It's been fairly quiet here at team Chris and Alice. We made our way from the heat of Mysore the traditional home of one of the most powerful rulers of Southern India and the Indian Food science and technology college they wouldn't let me in on the weekend to Ooty. In the Nilligiri Hills to the south. This was a welcome release from the heat as Ooty is a little over 2000m above sea level not
Crossing the Mekong
This morning was a 7am start so that I had enough time for a TRX workout on the balcony of the hostel. I did get a few funny looks as I sweated it out in the glorious morning sun it looked like it was going to be a beautiful day. With the prospect of being in transit to Laos for twenty two hours in what I was expecting to be a small cramped minivan I thought it best to expend some energy. I gra

Walking with hill tribes
I started this morning off by heading to the street market by the guesthouse to rustle up some breakfast. It wasn't that much of a hassle to go in search of food before my 8.30am pick up. The stalls were a stones throw away and I couldn't complain that it wasn't included as I was only paying 100baht 2 a night for my dorm room. I managed to find some fruit and chicken to keep me going till lunc
Day 28 Annency to BeauvoirenRoyans
Taking our leave from our dear friends Christian and Christine we decided to do a circuit of the lake and head to photograph the old Chateau on the eastern side of the lake before heading south again the chateau was closed but still an imposing sight from the lane below. After fueling up it was off into the hills winding steeply up the Col de Plaimpalais we lunched in the alps and what a stunni
Where am I now
Sooo I am terrible at this blogging thing. It's been almost a month I guess a fair amount has happenedSo last I posted I had been in the Sunny Coast for almost a month. It was fun but rained a lot.. booo. It was really hard to find a job there too partly because of the rain a lot of the area relies on tourism and with the rain the floods etc all happening this year there wasn't too muc

Day 27 Annecy
Off to explore the old town this morning and what a lovely old town it is located on the northern shores of a huge mountain lake there are little alleyways ducking and diving all over the place with shops set back into deep doorways and cafes every second shop. There are little canals running through the whole area with buildings built right up to the edge almost what we expect Venice to be like.
Last leg of the Journey Oh So Sad
Its now 31st March and I am laying in bed typing this. Its so sad that its now soon to end we cant believe how the time has flown and we have had a ball and still are doing except for the counting down Although having said that we are looking forward to seeing all our mates and family again soon but would prefer it if they could come here rather than us back to reality.Phuket
Day 26 Auxonne to Annecy
Leaving this quaint town we headed to Annecy to meet a friend of Pams for dinner fondue if you please. The one thing we have found with our trusty Tomtom is that it will take you usually through the center of a town making a bloody drama at times because some city streets we not made with camper vans in mind and meeting crazy French drivers coming the other way can be daunting. The distance we
vietnam update
Quick update before our next cycle. We spent rest of our night in cat ba enjoying festival and then going to a floating pub in some old mans boat. Very random. The next day we watched boat and cycle race and walked to cannon point with amazing views. Headed back to hanoi and boarded night train to sappa. Started our cycle yesterday mostly down hill so not too bad but still sore bum. Our room was

Day 25 Auxerre to Auxonne
Waking early we set off to explore Auxerre and found some neat little streets and alleys. Like many places we have been to there is much reconstruction going on both on the buildings and the streets. Finally leaving Auxerre we headed south again deciding against going to Dijon and instead going past some 30kms to a little village called Auxonne a commune in the Cted'Or department in Bourgogne
Copan Roatan
Het is 6u30 en ik voel het. We wandelen enkele blokken naar het busstation. Ik moet me vooruit slepen.
9 weeks down
Another week bites the dust Luckily we're about to enter week 10 as I have to admit I'm pretty tired and am looking forward to the end of term.Nothing much to report I'm afraid there was a bye at netball and nothing else exciting happened. Life just rolled on by.This is why I was very glad to be invited on a 'Broome shopping trip' by some other teachers from the District high school. We set off
Bocas Del Toro
The excitement of the first night in Bocas Del Toro situated on an island called Isla Colon consisted of going to the cash machine to get some money spending it on food in the supermarket which I then cooked in the hostel kitchen and ate before chilling in the communal area while listening to the Reggae music blasting from the speakers. What an busy bee I am When I went to bed the music wa
