Dag 1113 Matsuyama

Verona and Venice

On the way to Venice we stopped at Verona to see Juliet's balcony. There is a rumor that Juliet there's a legend of a real Romeo and Juliet that inspired the story lived in that house and in the 1930s a balcony was built to satisfy tourist needs. It also may have been the basis for the balcony in the 1930s movie or maybe the other way around. In any case the balcony overlooks a tiny court

Theft in Sicily

After an eventful two days of flights I arrived in Palermo feeling exhausted but excited at the prospect of what lay ahead. I caught a taxi to the hostel and couldnt help but notice the dilapidated state of the buildings in the area and the questionable types who were loitering in the streets at such a late hour. Getting to sleep then proved to be a difficult affair with some horrendous kara

Orvieto and Rome

I think my favorite part of this leg of the journey was Orvieto given that I had already been to Rome. Orvieto is a small village on a hilltop in Umbria. You have to take a tram up to get there and then you still have to walk up a hill in order to get to the top. From the top you can see a great view of the countryside and further down you can stand along an old fortress to get another view. We w
