It's my second day in Fiji aboard Bold Spirit and oh boy I'm exhausted Boat life is tough Today we worked on getting the boat ready to sail. As in I scrubbed and rinsed the deck getting all the mold off the 'teak' while Kathi cleaned the 'head' and Jeff worked on mechanical things. Quite a change up from yesterday which involved hanging out on the boat while my room was cleaned out and all

North of 70
Hi EveryoneWell we made it to Prudhoe bay it was a 238km ride north from our campground at Galbraith and wrist slittingly boring on that stretch of road. DeadhorsePrudhoe looks like it belongs on the moon by the way and the wind blows dust devils through the area something fierce if you're on a bike. Anyway after a 15 lunch at the Prudhoe Bay hotel we headed south and camped at Coldfoot for t

We bought a campervan at backpackers car market
I plan to be here in Auckland for two nights before going further north to Paihia and the Bay of Islands which i'm really looking forward to. After having relaxing time in Auckland and around we decided on getting a campervan. We decided not to rent a vehicle cos it would cost us more than buying one. After partying on saturday night we woke up early yesterday morning and walked up to Karangahap
You Shed Too
As some of you know Wilmington N.C. is the carnivorous plant capital of the world. When you learn this you can instantly conclude that the soil quality is terrible since even the plants are eating animals. Similarly it should dawn on you that parasites and fungus are rampant in Townsville when even the trees are shedding.
Local Critters
Of course shortly after I promised to post a photo of a Wallaby they disappeared from my life. It was only after trekking around all of Saturday that I happened to run into them again and get a chance to snap a picture.
Viking Festival of Catoira
The Viking Festival went off today without a hitch. I was once again grateful for the tiny Ibiza as maneuvering around the tiny streets of Catoira in back to back traffic trying to find a parking spot was no easy task especially when you try to park in someone's overgrown yard and they ask you to move with a boulder in front of you a ditch to the one side and a sharp incline to the other... aga
Have a look
I don't know what UNC Wilmington's maintenance staff would do if a 5 ft python which had gorged itself on an Opossum showed up in the woods next to the Chancellor's walk ... but I doubt they would rope it off and put up signs instructing visitors to have a look but leave it be.
Malaysia
Vietnam Life’s a beach
Itrsquos been nearly two months since we left the UK and during that time wersquove hardly stopped anywhere for more than a couple of days. It has been amazing visiting all the places wersquove been but the constant travelling was getting pretty tiring. We decided after the chaos albeit a sort of organized chaos of Hanoi and Hue that it was finally time to head south and spend a week relax
Peruvian Delights
To get to Lima we took an overnight bus from Cusco. This time our entertainment comprised of a preacher standing behind our seats trying to convert us to Christianity at least I think thats what he was talking about and a woman compulsively vomiting into a shopping bag in front of us. After an eventful and somewhat stinky journey we arrived in the early hours of the morning in the sprawling
Kyoto’s Pictures
Here are all the pictures of Kyoto and the bullet train. I'm actually in Tokyo at the moment but they are pictures of Kyoto so I'm saying i'm in Kyoto. Harry.
Trip of Giants Grant Grove
The day dawned chilly and foggy. Yep. Still in San Francisco. But not for long. I picked up our next hire car at the Ellis St Hertz just a dogleg's block away. This time a bright red PT Cruiser. The kind that scratches really easily. With no GPS option we knew how to get to the 101 and freeway from our trip to San Jose so found our way onto the 80 east. That took us across the five lane double
Last Eruptive Event Newberry Crater
Newberry Crater... it's last eruption of activity created the Big Obsidian Flow. It happened about 1300 years ago and caused masses of Obsidian to be scattered everywhere with big lava flows. Big Obsidian Flow is about 1.8 kilometers 6000 feet long and locally thicker than 20 meters 65 feet. The Obsidian pieces run enormous here. The boulders are really amazing to see in person. Obsidian is
Battle of the Little Big Horn Mt.
Decided to retreat west and see the Little Bighorn Battlefield Nat'l Monument. Took a few pictures listened to two lectures and watched a film. The battlefield is out in the country and there is not much excitement around the area but we got to see it and get a feel for what happened. The visitors center is rather small with a few artifacts. They had a fire in the area a couple of years ago

South America Part 5 Peru On the trail of the Incas
San Pedro de AtacamaBefore we come onto Peru we did as Tracy said last time arrive back into civilization somewhat in the form of San Pedro de AtacamaChile. Bolivia was great and I really did enjoy the three daytwo night more like two daytwo night Salar de Uyuni trip but I was glad on the afternoon of July 11th to finally see what we as westerners would call roads. We arrived into San Ped
Hope Academy
The Hope Academy consists of about 25 players ages 1822 who all live in the same cell and have to follow the same rules and regulations. There are about 6 of us AIS staff who go into the prison every week. The AIS coach of the team is a local South African that can speak the same language of the prisoners. Most of the prisoners speak English but some have trouble understanding us. The coac
Impressive Indonesia
BaliAfter some thoughts and lazy discussions at the beach bar back in Koh Samui a few of us decided that travelling by bus from Thailand through Malaysia and Indonesia was looking increasingly tiresome and so we decided that the best thing to do would be to fly onto different destinations and meet later in Bali. Apart from that one of the guys was hoping to dive whilst out here so his decision
