The cold temperatures seemed to be following us throughout Bolivia and they didn't sound to be any better in Chile. Brian and I felt bad but ended up canceling our trip to northern Chile. The thought of spending all that money airfare hotel and visas which were 135 per person to deal with more cold temps and unheated rooms just didn't make sense. Several family members had mentioned Rio Selva

Zijingshan Park
Very close to our hotel just a few blocks really is a wonderful community park a world away from the traffic and noise in the rest of the city. We have gone there both mornings that we have had free time cannot seem to get there early enough to see elderly men and women doing the slow graceful movements of tai chi but still get there in time to see other activities such as musicians playing
Jungle Trekking
After a week's hard work at the elephant sanctuary we had a day to rest in Chiang Mai before trekking. Neither Hannah nor I had been feeling very well on the last few days of the sanctuary so it was also a chance to recover pool reading and even managed to venture to Doi Suthep in the afternoon a temple high up on a hill took a tuktukBy the following day I was feeling much better but Hann
Puno Day 3 Taquile Island
Puno Day 3Wednesday August 11thI did actually get some more sleep at about 330am. I woke up a bit past 6am and found my wife was already up and taking photos of sheep. After the necessities we were served breakfast by Valentina. Breakfast consisted of crepes with a strawberry marmalade a hard boiled egg and coffee. Everything was very good. After eating and before leaving we paid Vale
Puno Day 2 Island Tour
Tuesday August 10thPuno Day 2 Uros Amantani IslandsBetween the high altitude and having dozed frequently before getting to Puno we both had a very bad night's sleep. We tried to sleep at 8pm or so but after tossing and turning and having strange mininightmares I got up at midnight and went for a walk. I had to bother the hotel security guy since the door was locked. I walked down the
Tourist Season
Well we made it to Idaho and there was no sign of Keanu Reeves before any of you ask... We stayed in the town of Bonners Ferry where we discovered they sell surprisingly cheap liquor. We crossed back into Canada last Wednesday and headed up via Creston to Kootenay Lake. We spent a very pleasant couple of hours at Lockhart Beach lying in the blazing sunshine before heading north again
Thoughts from Playa Blanca
Thoughts from Playa Blanca by guest bloggers Heather and and Jane All that could be heard was the lapping of the warm Caribbean waves and the gentle snoring of our friend Steve. Suddenly we heard a shuffling sound. We looked up to see Steversquos shoes sidling towards the waterrsquos edge in an attempt to drown themselves in shame. lsquoStop stop donrsquot do itrsquo we shouted
Morelia First Full Week
Ok so after a couple of more weeks lets try playing catch up again...After getting only a few hours of sleep there was a breakfast planned for us so off we went. It was a nice spread at some hotel that looked like i wouldn't be able to afford if i'd gone alone. But it was free even better. Several people spoke we got some gifts and it was now time to move onto our respective communities.
Confirming the Weather
We left Elkhart IN yesterday after an eventful night. We were just hanging out I was actually doing the previous blog and Don was watching TV and all of a sudden we heard a very loud POP We lost our TV but the lights and computer stayed on. Well it didn't take long to figure out that the park had lost it's power and a transformer had blown. Everyone was running around trying to figure out
To be followed with words
I will post the words to go with this tomorrow I think but for now a few photos to update.
Thursday 12thAugust 2010 Travelling day
An early start for Heathrow. I always hate this part of the trip as you have to get down the M23 and along the M25Purple parking were once more excellent and delivered us to terminal 3 at 830am.A small problem when the handle broke on Pams suitcase. Seemed okay to be checked in though and we successfully moved our seats to the centre isle. Best place on a boeing 777.A breakfast at TGIs and then a
Roma.
ROMASo early Tuesday morning I got and walked down to the bus stop to catch the bus into the airport. Lucky I got up a little bit earlier as the bus decided to leave 30 minutes earlier than was expected too. So I was at the airport quite early. The plane ride was fairly quick only 40 mins the wait for the luggage was actually longer. I hoped on the train to Termini station and within the hour
Language School and other such things Cuscean
It feels like summer here in Qosqo today although we are right here in the middle of the dry cold winter season. At night the altitude and lack of an atmosphere are evident in the night. The stars arrayed in new constellations to my eyes shine brightly over the high walls of the valley. And it is very cold. No joke.Typically when I wake in the morning it is a scramble to cover myself complet
