Saw 3D

SAW 3D anatomical heart poster

I am not particularly a fan of the Saw franchise. Friends begged me to see the second one with them, and although I had never seen the first, I finally agreed. I laughed through most of the ridiculous movie. I also hate stories with killers who apparently have high morals and want to teach their victims a lesson. As far as I am concerned Jigsaw from these movies and John Doe of Se7en can shove it. All that aside, this new motion poster for Saw 3D is beautiful.

I love that the heart is black and fists are punching their way out.

Travelling Tonito’s Adventures in the Sahara

post thumbnail

What takes someone from South Africa to London to Abu Dhabi to Tripoli? As Tony Fernandes describes it: “six years of relative dullness”. Well, things are no longer dull and it’s all due to “Istanbul and some Gypsies”. Throw in some turtles, interesting taxi drivers and you have yourself an adventure (or two or more).

Lake Havasu and The Grand Canyon

Went to McDonalds for breakfast and then drove to Lake Havasu which was only a slight detour and as London Bridge was there we thought we would go and see it. It was a beautiful area lovely blue lake palm trees and golden sand...you get the picture. Walked along the edge of the lake to the bridge and back again and then spent an hour cooling off in the lake as the temperature was 44oC. Drove to

Ashokas Edicts and the Shanti Stupa

The monsoons have arrived and cooled things down and on this particular Saturday they had abated and the sun shining and I thought time to get out for a short little adventure. I chose the Dhauli Hill 8 klms from Bhubaneswar where I am living. It is a hill with vast open space adjoining it and has major Edicts of Ashoka engraved on a mass of rock by the side of the road leading to the sum

Scenic Tours Jewels of Europe 4

Rudesheim am RheinWe docked at Rudesheim and took a little train up to Siegfried's Mechanisches Musikkabinett a mechanical instrument museum in a 16th century house. The floor tiles of the chapel were 15th century. There we saw and heard some amazing mechanical music machines a whole orchestra in a box. It must take a lot of time to tune the instruments especially the piano with 6 or 8

Shanghai World Expo 2010 Visit Day 1

We visit Zone C on the first day. The temperature was a record 40.7 deg C so we decided to visited pavilioins that do not require queuing as the heat was too much esp for the children. Thus we only managed to visit the Caribbean Community Joint Pavilion Africa and Netherlands Pavilions.Still the children enjoyed the visit very much identifying those countries they know and going to the differen

Wenshan transit

Wenshan offered reasonable cheap accommodation and in good value compared with in Qiubei. But not much you could do in town except climbed up the 800 steps long staircase to the Wenbita pagoda from there you got a superb view of the whole city. I visited Hongdian and Binglie market both were dominated by the Yi people with their unique headdress full of embroidery and silver studs colorful cost

Qiubei look around

Quibei was famous for its karst landforms and Puzhehei lived the reputation. The last time I had been inside the site was 11 years ago and the village was almost deserted but now...the Puzhehei village had been expanded and many guesthouses spouted provided better accommodation. It would be a nice place to hang out only not on any holiday or festival time. Now you could see all those funfair

Mile Torch Festival

For the people in Mile Torch Festival was kind of routinely ritual one was obliged to walk the street with fire I guessed. So everyone brought a rod of rattanalmost 2 meters long roaming the street with fire held high but once the heat got too hot while the fireline descend their torch would laid low like a tail trail behind finally it would be abandoned by the roadside as there was no wa

Boston MA

I arrived at Boston and spent the day exploring the city centre which was really nice. It was definitely difficult to walk around all day in the humidity but I enjoyed it nonetheless. That night and the following day I stayed with another 2p2er who again was super friendly and hospitable and had a great house. After that I headed to Cambridge which is basically part of Boston as far as I coul

Time to relax

We arrived in Phuket at 1220am after a traumatic journey from Chiang Mai I was sick again. Really sad to leave Chiang Mai and it wasn't helped by the grossness of our airport hotel in Phuket easily the worst hotel we have stayed in so far we were really glad it was just for one night. The next morning we transferred to the Shanti Lodge which was absolutely gorgeous like an oasis full of b

The Big Apple

Well unsurprisingly enough NYC was amazing. There's just so much to see and do at any time of day or night. I arrived on Sunday morning and just spent the whole day wandering around Central Park. There was SO much going on including street artists buskers baseball games a shakespeare play fundraising events a huge stage with fairly big bands playing free concerts and a roller disco. The h
