Sunday 20 June 2010 Sikanni River to Hythe Alberta

Sunday 20 June 2010 Sikanni River to Hythe AlbertaAnother pretty day on the road today. The closest thing to a wild animal we saw today was a large black lab that from a long ways off we thought might be a black bear. We drove through miles and miles of spruce forests with nothing going on but natural gas operations. Stopped at Walmart and Safeway in Ft. St John for provisions and fuel. It

Hot Springs Experience

The second section is about 106 degrees. The last section is around 118 degrees. So we spent two hours in the hot springs pool this afternoon and visited. We are the middle agers. Many baby boomers

Saturday 19 June Liard Hot Springs BC to Sikanni River RV Park BC

Took a couple of photos of the suspension bridge over the Liard River just south of Liard Hot Springs. It is a really prett bridge and is the last suspension bridge on the Alaska Highway. The next excitement was encountering a small herd of bison that included several calves. I took a bunch of pictures and most of them came out really well. Then just north of Muncho Lake we saw a couple of roc

Queen Charlotte Track

Wednesday Gullah tour and shopping

Ok this morning we went on a Gullah tour. Gullah is a languageculture of West African slaves that came to this area. First while we were walking to the tour pickup area we see what looks like someone waving at us and shouting Hi. I figure they can't be waving at us no one knows us ... then they wave again and I realize it is the owner of Halls Chophouse where we ate dinner last night. She

Hanoi update June 2010

I should have been in Dhaka today and I was expecting that my blog No. 119 would have been about my trip to Bangladesh. Sadly I had to cancel my trip at the last minute because I was sick. The visa application at the Embassy of Bangladesh in Hanoi was more difficult than I expected even though a single entry visa costs only US25. When I called the Embassy they referred me to their website. I s

Herald Sydney

We took an overnight bus from Brisbane to Sydney eating up the miles along the Gold Coast over a long 16 hour journey.
