Website Downtime

Last Thursday, our hosting provider had some problems which resulted in seasteading.org being down for some time--more than half a day. But not to worry--we're back and none the worse for wear. We didn't need to go to backups, so none of your discussions should be lost.

As always, we want to know about any problems. Please report any issues to webmaster@seasteading.org!

On new adventures Winterly Japan

So ... I am back After a long spell of studying I will start on my travelblog one more time. This time I have been to lovely Asia where I always enjoy to go. My Danish friend Karina and I took at quick decision and booked our flight tickets to Narita to the 20th February and coming back after two weeks there. It was my second visit to Japan first time being in AprilMay 2007 so I was certainly d

Week of Anticipation

I'm sitting at the Villa Coffeehouse in Idaho Falls trying to figure out how to write a blog entry. So I guess this is my first if it works. If entries seem disjointed at first bare with me. For anyone who doesn't know about my endeavor I am flying to London on March 31st to start my three month trek across Europe. 1 month in France 1 month in Italy and 1 month split up between Croatia S

More engine troubles and delays

The RV ran fine to the oil change place so we decided it was time to pack up and go. We said our goodbyes loaded up and we were off. She ran alright for awhile but when we reached los santos started complaining as before. The difference now was that we weren8217t even on a hill and it was much more frequent stuttering. We stalled on a flat road outside the Mcdonalds in Chiquiri. Well we ne

A little surfing in Panama

Joce After reworking our original plans a bit we decided to spend a bit more time in the central American countries surfing and then quickly return via the much shorter east coast of Mexico as opposed to the lengthy west coast which took us 3 weeks. This we decided left time for a couple of days surfing around here. We took the RV down to playa Venao and had a really nice surf. There must

Bug Bites Boring Buses Bastard Burglars

20310I told a massive lie in my last post. 20 hour bus journeys can be hell. From Mancora to Otavalo we had to get on 3 different buses. The first 3 hour bus to the border of Ecuador involved no leg room and no air conditioning in temperatures well over 30 degrees. Then we got off the bus got on what looked like a dodgy taxi and headed to our next bus. At least this one had air condition but yo

Christchurch Feb 10 to 122010

The drive from Dunedin to Christchurch is interesting since the road follows the coast line. Our hotel in Christchurch was the Charlotte Jane a luxury Bread and Breakfast. After the long drive we decided to have dinner at the adjoining restaurant. The meal was excellent such that we decided to have dinner there the following night. Again we had our walking shoes on trekking into the downtown.

Panama City and back

Joce Simon and I left the crew for a side trip of our own8230Panama City. Allyne and Jordan had already visited on a previous trip and assured us that driving in the city was hell so we took the bus. We got there in one piece 4 hours later and made our way to our hotel and then tried to find a guy named Jonny to drive us around but ended up settling on a taxi. We picked up my uncle Ken

Te Anau Dunedin Feb 6th to 10th

Lake Te Anau is the second largest in New Zealand however the weather quickly turned from being close to 30C to around 20C with a good wind the next day. We used our time in Te Anau to do some walking and just relax. Dunedin has a Scottish heritage and happens to be the oldest city in New Zealand. In our entire New Zealand journey I guess that the odds are that you will have at least one bad h

Good Day Sunshine

Yeah so I kind of copied Alex and used a song title for this post but it was unusually bright out today. And much like the song today was very good. Today we only had to go to one class thanks to some very skillful schedule manipulation on the part of the two Seoras thank you. Our group had a Castellano class a bit like Literature and I think the other group had an English class but Im

It’s official spring has sprung

It has been another interesting week here. Various boats have come and gone indicating that Hatchet Bay is gaining in popularity. We have met some very nice people who are not on boats including an author from the UK. We have been very lucky to able to share in her company and will miss her when we all move on as we must all do at some point. March 20 there was a pig roast to attend. What

Time for planning

Time for planningYesterday I went to a travel agency in Stockholm which specializes in travels to Japan. My goal was to purchase a voucher for a Japan Rail Pass. The rail pass is vaild for 7 days and will let me travel throughout the island country for a set price. Right now I have only planned a trip from Osaka to Tokyo but the price for the pass is lower than buying a regular train ticket betwee
