Real Housewives star Lauri Peterson announces heartbreaking death of her son, 35 – HELLO!

Lauri Peterson, a former Real Housewives of Orange County star, has announced thetragic death of her son Josh, who died on March 31 at the age of 35. Lauri shared the news on Instagram alongside a series of beautiful pictures of Josh throughout his life, and with his daughter Kennady, whom Lauri adopted due to his drug addiction.

In the post, Lauri thanked those who had made an impact on Josh's life and supported Lauri through this journey.

"It is with a shattered heart that I write this post to let you know that my sweet Josh left this earth Easter Sunday. No one can ever prepare you for this feeling of such deep loss," she wrote.

"Every fiber in my body hurts. Josh fought every single day for most of his adult life, for his life, but this past Sunday, the challenge was too great."

Lauri continued: "Not everyone understands those suffering from substance abuse disorder, but I am forever grateful for your understanding and the impact you made on his life. I also thank those who have supported me through this journey and offering kind words of encouragement by sharing their stories of living with substance abuse disorder and the many parents that have shared their stories over the years with me about the children they have sadly lost due to this illness."

Lauri shared that Josh "received the most joy, pride and purpose through his daughter Kennady and watching her grow and thrive over the years," and wrote that she prayed that he had now "found the peace you deserve".

Kennady is now in the fifth grade, and lives with Lauri and her husband George, whom she married in 2007.

Over the years, Josh had been in the headlines for various legal troubles, including most recent in 2022 when he was found in possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to two years in prison.

He had spent four years in prison for attempted murder after shooting a man named Daniel Lopez outside of a sober living home in 2016. Daniel survived the attack.

Lauri always insisted that Josh had been set up by police. In 2018 she wrote on social media: "After keeping silent for nearly 2 years in regards to my son's arrest, I am going to begin laying out the facts of his case and how easily it is to be falsely accused!"

Lauri quit the Real Housewivesfranchise in 2008 after Josh, who had struggled with a heroin addiction, relapsed and was sentenced to eight months in jail.

Notus robotics team is headed to 2024 FIRST Championship – KTVB.com

Notus Jr/Sr High School robotics team of five students is headed to the 2024 FIRST Championship in Houston, Texas.

BOISE, Idaho A small robotics team from Notus Jr/Sr High School is living the classic underdog story after they qualified to compete at a world championship.

The team of five students will be heading to Houston, Texas to participate in the 2024 FIRST Championship. On Friday, KTVB spoke to the team advisor, Nick Forbes, who said this is the first year the program was introduced to the Notus. But that hasn't stopped them.

In March of 2024,team 9726 received the Rookie of the Year All-Star Award after competing in Boise. A few days later, they were invited to compete on the world stage.

According to the FIRST website, with every new season the game changes, and students will need to build a robot to achieve the goal. This year's game is called 'CRESCENDO.'

While FIRST's rules recommend a team should consist of 10 students, team 9726 won with half that. But, a student told KTVB it hasn't been without some challenges.

"It was entirely made from duct tape, zip ties, and just things that we had to find around," Ezekiel said. "There were sometimes things that we had to improvise through 3-D printings and other things. We're very proud of the work we've done."

He said their robot mainly plays defense, utilizing a wall, which helped them secure a spot at worlds.

The world championships in Houston kicks off on April 16.

Palia studio Singularity 6 is the latest studio to suffer layoffs – PC Gamer

Singularity 6, the studio behind the cosy MMO Palia, is the latest developer to suffer layoffs. Just under 50 developers, around one third of the company, have been let go according to Polygon reporter Nicole Carpenter.

Environmental artist Daphne Fiato tweeted "Whelp, I've been laid off," following up with "49 people Thanos snapped". Other Singularity 6 folk joined to reveal they'd also been laid off, including Brian Ernst who tweeted they'd been with the developer for five years. One developer revealed via LinkedIn that they'd been given the news while on vacation, according to MMORPG.com.

Singularity 6 is yet to publicly address the layoffs, with its last Twitter post happening on April 3, one day before they occurred. It's the same situation for the official Palia account.

Palia only just arrived on Steam on March 25, following a stint as an Epic exclusive. The free-to-play MMO has generated some praise for its cosy vibes and its stress-free cycle of farming and building, but it's also been criticised for its slow progression, reliance on timers and limited multiplayer elements. Its development status has also led to some confusionit's not in early access, and the store page implies a feature-complete game, when in reality it is still in beta. On Steam, it's currently sitting at just over 3,700 user reviews with a "Mixed" rating.

The studio joins a painfully long line of developers to have nixed a portion of its staff this year. Despite only being four months into the year, the number of layoffs are close to reaching last year's count. It was estimated that around 10,500 developers lost their jobs last year, according to the Game Industry Layoffs tracker. The number is already up to around 8000 estimated job losses right now, with more undoubtedly on their way given the volatility of the industry.

We compiled our own layoff chart earlier this year, showing the trajectory of 16,000 layoffs from January 2023 to January 2024. Since the chart was published, companies like Relic, Certain Affinity, Sony and Blackbird Interactive have joined the list.

AI is More Than ChatGPT: It is a Ticking Time Bomb for Women – Torch – St. John’s University

In recent months, image-based sexual abuse has been on the rise due to alternative intelligence (AI) mainly targeting high-profile women. It also imposes an increased risk to the LGBTQ+ community, sex workers and women everywhere. A 2023 UPenn article on the rise of deepfake porn says, Broadly speaking, minoritized women and femmes are more likely to experience image-based sexual abuse, as are single people and adolescents. LGBTQ populations are also at increased risk of harassment.

There are currently four states that created laws based on image-based sexual abuse. But with the growth of the internet, now more than anything what society needs is protection of the most vulnerable. When 14 year old Mia Janine takes her own life as a result of bullying and her face being placed onto the bodies of porn stars, it makes me fear what AI could do next.

What do we turn to when we see our own faces reflected back at us on the news and social media? When one girl dies or is faced with an inconceivable amount of tragedy, all girls watching stand as testaments to her pain.

We turn on the news and see our politicians arguing for more law enforcement and to lock people up in prisons overflowing with blue-collar criminals. But there is something about the politics of it all that makes my stomach turn and keep me from making eye contact with the girls face staring back at me, especially knowing that the politicians raising their voices only comes from a sense of inherent whiteness and lack of acknowledgement for women of color.

In order to stop these things from happening, the culture around womens existences must shift. Image-based sexual abuse is an example of the continual affects AI pornography can have on generations of people. If boys grow up believing that behavior like this is okay, what will stop them from using it to harm the women that they know? The cycle continues.

This is not a call for more policing or for longer prison sentences when tragedy does strike, this is a call for accountability. For resources available to victims and perpetrators, for laws to be created to catch crimes before they increase.

Resources can include community-led programs about sexual assault prevention and affordable therapy for people dealing with the effects of abuse and assault on their lives. More than anything, this is a call to see one less smiling girls eyes staring into mine, knowing that she died and nothing can be done to save her. Knowing that I cannot reach into my screen and pull her out.

These girls are suspended in time for me as the same age they were when they died. When the boys mugshot appears on the screen, I try to imagine what he was like as a child and what happened down the line for everything to go so wrong for him.

Social media, Deepfake images and an entire world of systemic, personal and institutional oppression fosters a world where the most heinous thoughts are validated. In order to be here for our women, we need to start with our boys.

U.S. Supreme Court to hear Texas and Florida cases about free speech and social media platforms – Texas Standard

The U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments today in two cases related to some of the worlds biggest social media platforms.

Considered by many to be two of the hottest free speech cases of the internet age, one case is from Texas, the other from Florida. And though there are slight differences between the two state laws being challenged here, the cases appear to center on a central question: do social media companies have the right to independently decide what content appears on their platforms, amplifying or removing content as they see fit?

The social media companies say their First Amendment free speech rights are being violated with the Texas and Florida laws. The states say those social media companies arent entitled to First Amendment free speech protection. And it may come down to whether a majority of the court sees social media as more like a newspaper or more like a telephone company.

Charles Rocky Rhodes, a professor of law at South Texas College of Law in Houston, said both of these laws are on hold and have not yet gone into effect because of pending court cases.

They were a response to some of the social media platforms de-platforming Donald Trump and other politicians in the wake of the Jan. 6 riots at the Capitol, Rhodes said. And there was a concern from Texas and from Florida that [these politicians] were being targeted because of their conservative beliefs.

And so the idea of both of these laws was to try to keep social media platforms from banning individuals or discriminating against individuals based on the viewpoints of their speech. And it also placed some very onerous burdens on social media companies with respect to disclosure requirements of their terms and their policies with respect to data management and content, and the use policies that they would be using.

The plaintiff in the case is NetChoice, an industry association that includes most of the big platforms we all think of Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, etc.

Theyre making the play that when they are deciding which messages to amplify and which messages that they want to remove from their platform, that they are acting as the modern editor of a newspaper, and there are good precedent for the United States Supreme Court saying that a state cant tell a newspaper what to print, Rhodes said.

Theyre arguing that the same principle applies to them, that they are allowed to make editorial decisions on their private platform. And this is something that people have to keep in mind that the social media companies, as big and important as they are, are not the government. They are actually privately-owned.

Texas and Florida, however, say these companies are acting as a common carrier and therefore do not have a claim to free speech.

Theyre trying to say that social media companies are a modern equivalent of what used to be a very familiar idea of the common carrier, that they dont have the ability to discriminate with respect to their service. They have to accept everyone, Rhodes said. And the social media companies come back and say, well, common carriers were different because they never engaged in their own expressive activities.

Common carriers did sometimes transmit the speech of others, like a telegraph would be the old example, or telephone But they did not actually engage in their own expressive activities. And the social media companies are claiming that we do because we are trying to communicate messages. Were creating news feeds for individuals. Were trying to increase, of course, advertising streams that we are engaged in expressive activities in a way that your internet service provider or in a way that your telephone company is not.

As this case goes forward, Rhodes said the states arguments are rooted in political ideology.

The Texas law has a specific exemption for companies under 50 million users. So it wouldnt cover conservative sites like Parler, he said. The Florida law had exemptions for Disney and for Universal that were then taken out once Disney and Universal started criticizing Florida [political leaders]. A big part of the underlying motivation for these laws was the political concern that conservatives thought that their voices were being removed from the site and the marketplace of ideas.

Imagine standing in a field over a century ago, a farmer in the 1800s, at a time when the worlds population had just crested one billion people. What if someone had told you that, by the year 2000, 95% of farm and agricultural labor would be replaced by machines and those machines would feed an additional seven billion people? What would you have thought about that prediction?

Fast-forward to today, and similar predictions are being made about artificial intelligence (AI) and its impact on knowledge work. The difference is that now the time frame isnt 200 years but 20.

The thought ofAIreplacing human intellect and creativity in the workforce can indeed be unsettling. But, is this fear truly warranted, or are we on the cusp of a collaborative revolution that could amplify human innovation and creativity?

WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)?

The introduction of machinery in agriculture, for instance, didn't lead to the end of human labor; instead, it transformed it, enabling greater productivity and feeding billions more people.

So, why viewAI's role in the future of work with trepidation rather than optimism? Simply put, because we wont have the time to retrain all the workers that are replaced.

But what if we were thinking about this all wrong? What ifAIisnt a replacement but a means of amplifying human potential?

The conversation aroundAItoday is all too often framed in terms of replacement rather than augmentation and amplification. This perspective is a relic of industrial-era thinking, which doesn't apply to the nuanced waysAIcan complement human capabilities.

AI, particularly in forms like GenerativeAI, is not just about automating tasks but enhancing human creativity and efficiency. Companies like OpenAI, Google and Microsoft are pioneering this frontier, developingAIthat can write, create art, and even generate video content from text descriptions.

AI WILL CHANGE WORK LIKE THE INTERNET DID. THAT'S EITHER A PROBLEM OR AN OPPORTUNITY

This isn't about machines taking over; it's about machines enabling us to reach new heights of creativity and innovation.

Consider the rapid adoption ofAItechnologies. OpenAI's ChatGPT reached over 100 million users in just two months, a testament to the technology's appeal and potential. This enthusiasm forAIisn't just about novelty; it's a recognition of its ability to augment human capabilities in unprecedented ways.

Yet, the question remains: WillAIdisplace knowledge workers? The answer is nuanced. Yes,AIwill automate certain tasks, potentially displacing some jobs. By some estimates,AIwill be able to accomplish about 50% of knowledge work within 10 years.

However, this is only part of the story. The gap between wage growth and productivity in knowledge work has been widening, not solely because of technology, but also due to a failure to fully leverage technology to augment human work.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IS BIG, BUT ARE COMPANIES HIRING FOR AI ROLES TOO FAST?

Knowledge workers spend a significant portion of their time coordinating disparate technologies, a task thatAIcould streamline, freeing humans to focus on more creative and strategic endeavors, rather than playing the game of spinning plates with the vast array of technologies they need to orchestrate and coordinate today.

Rather than this being a fight to the death between humans and.AI, what about an approach in whichAIcreates a multiplier effect that amplifies the value of human innovation and creativity?

The fear thatAIwill render human workers obsolete overlooks the potential for new value creation. Just as the mechanization of agriculture led to new industries and opportunities,AI's impact on knowledge work will likely spawn new realms of employment and innovation.

For example, in health care,AIcould alleviate the administrative burden on physicians, allowing them more time for patient care, ultimately improving outcomes and reducing costs. Today, primary care docs spend about half their time dealing with myriad administrative issues, from medical records to insurance claims.

HOW TO USE AI TO HELP YOU GET A BETTER JOB INSTEAD OF IT STEALING ONE

And yet, we know that a primary care doctor is among the greatest variable in reducing health care costs and increasing positive outcomes. Imagine what that would translate into if doctors had 50 percent more time to spend with patients.

The narrative thatAIwill simply replace human jobs is overly simplistic and ignores the broader potential forAIto enhance human work. The integration ofAIinto knowledge work promises to not only increase productivity but also to open up new avenues for human creativity and innovation. The real challenge lies not in competing withAIbut in leveraging it to augment our own capabilities.

As we stand on the brink of thisAI-driven era, it's crucial to shift our perspective from one of fear to one of opportunity. The question we should be asking is not whetherAIwill replace us but how we can useAIto become better at what we do. The potential forAIto amplify human innovation and creativity is immense, provided we approach this new frontier with openness and adaptability.

Additionally, the company has been a reliable pick for investors who want to outperform the market. Shares are up by 74% over the past year and have gained 284% over the past five years. The stock is trading at a 58-forward P/E ratio. The companys net income growth can lead to a better valuation in the future. And, ServiceNow more than tripled its profits year over year (YOY) in thethird quarter. Revenue grew at a nice 25% clip YOY.

Alphabet(NASDAQ:GOOG, NASDAQ:GOOGL) makes most of its revenue from advertising and cloud computing. Google Cloud has become a popular resource for business owners, boasting over 500,000 customers. Also, Alphabet stands at the forefront of AI , enhancing the tech giants future product offerings.

Notably, the companys cloud segment remains a leading growth driver. Revenue for Google Cloud increased by 22.5% YOY in thethird quarter. And, Alphabets entire business achieved 11% YOY revenue growth, which is an acceleration from the previous period.

Also, Google Cloud reported a profitable quarter, swinging from a $440 million net loss in Q3 2022 to $266 million net income in Q3 2023. Alphabet investors positive response to the news helped the stock rally by 57% over the past year. The stock has gained 163% over the past five years.

Alphabet currently trades at a 22-forward P/E ratio and has a $1.8 trillion market cap. Finally, the companys vast advertising network gives them plenty of capital to reinvest in Google Cloud and the companys smaller business segments.

Datadog(NASDAQ:DDOG) helps companies improve their cybersecurity across multiple cloud computing solutions. Cloud spending is still in its early innings and is expected to reach$1 trillion in annual spending in 2026. The company is projected to have a $62 billion total addressable market (TAM) in that year.

Specifically, Datadog removes silos and friction associated with keeping cloud applications safe from hackers. Over 26,000 customers use Datadogs software including approximately 3,130 customers with annual contract values exceeding $100,000. The companys revenue growth over the trailing twelve months is currently 31%. Further, operating margins have improved significantly to help the company secure a net profit in the third quarter.

In fact, DDOG has a good relationship with many cloud computing giants, including Alphabet. The two corporationsexpanded their partnership to close out 2023.

Investors have been rushing to accumulate Datadog stock in recent years. Shares have gained 68% over the past year and are up by 240% over the past five years. DDOG is still more than 35% removed from its all-time high. However, continued revenue growth and profit margin expansion can help the stock reclaim its all-time high.

JPM2024: Big Tech Poised to Disrupt Biopharma with AI-Based Drug Discovery – BioSpace

2024 will continue to see Big Tech companies enter the artificial intelligence-based drug discovery space, potentially disrupting the biopharma industry. That was the consensus of panelists at a Tuesday session on AI and machine learning held by the Biotech Showcase, co-located with the 42nd J.P. Morgan Healthcare Conference.

The JPM conference got a reminder of Big Techs inroads into AI-based drug discovery with Sundays announcement that Google parent Alphabets digital biotech company Isomorphic Labs signed two large deals worth nearly $3 billion with Eli Lilly and Novartis.

Big Tech is coming for AI and its coming in a big way, said panel moderator Beth Rogozinski, CEO of Oncoustics, who noted that the AI boom has seen the rise of the Magnificent 7, a new grouping of mega-cap tech stocks comprised of the seven largest U.S.-listed companiestech giants Amazon, Apple, Alphabet, Microsoft, Meta Platforms, Nvidia and Tesla.

Last year, the Magnificent 7s combined market value surged almost 75% to a whopping $12 trillion, demonstrating their collective financial power.

Six of the seven have AI and healthcare initiatives, Rogozinski told the panel. Theyre all coming for this industry.

However, Atomwise CEO Abraham Heifets made the case that with Big Tech getting into biopharma there is a mismatch of business models, with the Isomorphic Labs deals looking, in his words, like traditional tech mentality. Heifets contends that its unclear whether the physics of the business will support the risk models in the industry, adding that the influence of small- to mid-size companies focused on AI-based drug discovery should not be underestimated.

Google DeepMinds AlphaFold is the foundation of Isomorphic Labs platform. The problem, according to ArrePath CTO Kurt Thorn, is that its easy for these technologies to have fast followings only to see their market shares wane over time. If you look at AlphaFold, which was a breakthrough when it came out, within two or three years afterwards there were two or three alternatives.

Thorn concluded that its not clear that the market sizes are large enough to amortize a large AI platform for drug discovery across an entire industry.

Rogozinski emphasized that these switching costs are a potential barrier to entry in moving to such drug discovery platforms as Big Tech tries to get companies to transition.

Vivodyne CEO Andrei Georgescu commented that drug discovery and development is a difficult and complex process that is not a function of how big your team is or how many people you have behind the bench. The key to the success of AI in biopharma is in the generation and curation of datasets, according to Georgescu, who said the industry is facing a bottleneck on the complexity of the data and the applicability of the data to the outcomes that we want to confirm.

Providing some levity and perspective to Tuesdays AI session, Moonwalk Biosciences CEO Alex Aravanis told the audience he was late to arrive as a panelist due to an accident on the freeway involving a Tesla self-driving vehicle. So, clearly, they need more data, Aravanis said.

Marc Cikes, managing director of the Debiopharm Innovation Fund, told BioSpace that while he has been heartened to see the rise of AI and machine learning usage in biopharma, the forecast remains murky in 2024.

The impact of AI for drug discovery is still largely unknown, Cikes said. The public market valuation of the few AI-drug discovery companies is significantly down versus their peak price, and a large chunk of the high-value deals announced between native AI companies and large pharmas are essentially based on future milestone payments which may never materialize.

Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 are now in the not-too-distant past, but there is reason to be excited as some CD Projekt Red veterans are working on a brand-new open-world RPG made in Unreal Engine 5.

Despite Cyberpunk 2077 having one of the biggest redemption arcs in gaming history, CD Projekt Red recently announced that it was done updating the game in favour of working on its inevitable sequel. The same can be said for The Witcher 3 which has received no major updates since July of this year.

While CDPR now shift their efforts onto the next entries in both of the above franchises, some devs have departed the studio to work on something altogether new.

Posted to r/GamingLeaksandRumours, one user has revealed CD Projekt Red veterans have formed a brand-new studio called Rebel Wolves and it is currently working on its first game potentially titled DAWNWALKER: ORIGINS.

The news originally comes from Kurakasis on Twitter, an account dedicated to video games research who shared the information about the upcoming IP.

Rebel Wolves, a studio formed by CD Projekt RED veterans, is working on a game potentially titled DAWNWALKER: ORIGINS. The first title in the DAWNWALKER Saga, they wrote. This is based on the company's trademarks, recently registered domains and various statements on their website and LinkedIn.

The user claims that two website domains have recently been registered and the IP is expected to be a story-driven RPG set in a brand-new dark fantasy universe built on Unreal Engine 5.

Additionally, DAWNWALKER: ORIGINS is expected to be released on PC and next-gen consoles, is an offline single-player title and will revolutionise the RPG genre. An unearthed job listing also hints at it being open-world but is not expected to be on the scale of The Witcher 3.

Finally, the source claims development is currently in the Alpha stage and as of three months ago, over 100 employees were working on it.

With no official announcement, it is worth taking this news with a pinch of salt. However, a brand-new IP from CD Projekt Red veterans is an exciting rumour nonetheless.

Chicago Animal Shelter Rescues Over 75 Dogs and Cats from Caribbean Island: ‘We Just Had to Step In’ – Yahoo Entertainment

A Chicago animal shelter is doing good this holiday season.

Earlier this month, PAWS Chicago one of the largest no-kill animal welfare organizations in the country rescued more than 75 dogs and cats from the Caribbean Island of Dominica, according to a news release obtained by PEOPLE.

The animals, the organization said, were "horrifically abused" and had been "tortured, beaten, poisoned and left for dead" before the St. Nicholas Animal Rescue, the islands only shelter, took them in.

But, when the shelter was forced to close, the Los Angeles-based charity Wings of Rescue stepped in and orchestrated an emergency rescue mission.

After the animals arrived stateside, the news release said they were "immediately examined to begin treatment by the PAWS Chicago veterinary team."

Chicago residents can now provide aid to any of the cats or dogs featured in the PAWS program by signing up to foster or adopt them, orby donating to rescue efforts.

Among the dogs looking for their forever homes are Sage, a stray who was beaten and kicked, resulting in four broken ribs and a fractured leg, as well as Grover, a senior who was left in the city center where children tortured and burned him.

Cats that are also looking for homes include those that were rescued from the meat trade and kittens who were thrown in a river, PAWS Chicago said.

In a statement given to NBC Chicago, Susanna Wickham, CEO of PAWS Chicago, said, We just had to step in when we heard what was happening. They need love.

She added, "Even though these animals have been through really horrific abuse, they arrive here ready to trust and love and they are just wonderful creatures. They teach us so much and we are thankful to be able to help them."

Sports betting, craps and roulette to begin at Seminole casinos – South Florida Sun Sentinel

On Thursday, for the first time ever, South Floridians will be able to walk into a Seminole Tribe casino and gamble on sports, roulette or craps.

An all-day celebration of the new era at the Hollywood and Coconut Creek casinos will roll out multiple red carpets and draw celebrities such as Jon Bon Jovi, DJ Khaled, Mike Tyson and Dwyane Wade. Guests will participate in ceremonial spins of the roulette wheel and rolls of the dice before heading to a VIP pool party DJd by Diplo.

Both casinos will be open to the gambling public in the meantime.

The tribe is pulling out all the stops after what appears to be a pause in two years of legal battles. Two lawsuits before the U.S Supreme Court and Florida Supreme Court seek to challenge the 2021 gaming compact between the tribe and the state that authorizes sports betting as well as craps and roulette. Both courts have recently ruled against suspending the compact while the lawsuits continue.

We certainly recognize that anyone could file additional lawsuits, Hard Rock Chairman Jim Allen told the South Florida Sun Sentinel on Tuesday. But you know, the compact of 2021 is in place. It is legal, and we move forward.

The festivities will begin around 9:30 a.m. at the Seminole Classic Casino in Hollywood with a celebrity red carpet, followed by a first spin of the roulette wheel and roll of the craps dice about 10 a.m.

Celebrity participants for the morning event include Adamari Lpez, Willy Chirino, Adam Beach, Mannie Fresh, Jon Jay, Edgerrin James, Enrique Santos and Los Pichy Boys. They will join tribe and company leaders including Allen, Seminole Tribe Chairman Marcellus Osceola Jr. and members of the Tribal Council.

The public will be allowed to gamble, roam the casino and sneak glimpses of celebrities during the events of the day. Once the inaugural ceremony is complete, they will also be able to play craps and roulette at the Hollywood casino.

Im sure a lot of people would have fun watching all the events that are going on, a Seminole Tribe spokesperson said Wednesday, but how close theyll be depends on how many people are there.

Both the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood and Coconut Creek casinos will look different with dozens of new tables and kiosks, as well as dealers and employees, a massive undertaking, Allen said.

More than 1,000 new employees have begun working throughout the states six Hard Rock casinos and at the gaming headquarters, Allen said.

The Hollywood casino will have 20 roulette tables, 10 craps tables and 38 sports betting kiosks, as well as 10 new sports betting agents so people can actually place bets with a human being, the tribe spokesperson said.

Some South Florida gamblers may think they have already played roulette and craps, but the casinos have only offered virtual alternatives that give the appearance of those games; they are technically slot machines using random number generators.

Those games will remain in addition to the new tables with real employees rolling the dice and spinning the wheels.

A similar schedule of events will take place at the Hard Rock Casino in Coconut Creek about 1 p.m. with a first spin of the roulette wheel and roll of the dice, which will mark the beginning of the games at that location.

Celebrities attending the Coconut Creek launch will include Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, Rob Riggle and Jacky Bracamontes. They will join Allen, Osceola Jr. and members of the Tribal Council.

The celebration will return for the grand finale at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood around 4:30 p.m. for the launch of sports betting and the arrival of A-list celebrities.

The list of celebrities currently includes Wade, Bon Jovi, Tyson, DJ Khaled, Tisto, Heather Graham, Fat Joe, Sarah Hyland, Willy Chirino, Max Weinberg, Bobbi Althoff, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover model Brooks Nader and other surprise special guests.

The first in-person sports bet will take place sometime that evening, which will kick off sports betting throughout the casino. Attendees can also bet throughout the day on the mobile app.

Following the ceremony, Diplo will DJ a pool party for invited guests only. Bruno Mars will perform a sold-out show later in the night.

The celebrations will move to the giant Seminole Hard Rock in Tampa on Friday, though South Florida got them first because the guitar building is our most iconic, Allen said.

Beginning about 10:30 a.m. Friday morning, the Tampa location will have its own ceremony with Allen, Osceola Jr., other tribal leaders and celebrities including Thomas Rhett, Michael Carbonaro, Lele Pons, Marcus Allen and Joe Theismann.

On Monday, the games will begin at the Seminole casinos in Immokalee and Brighton.

Over the years, much attention good and bad has been paid to the return of mobile sports betting rather than in-person betting, craps and roulette. But Allen believes that the arrival of the in-person games will also excite people and serve as an inducement to tourism, especially from Latin America.

I know that our guests have been looking forward to them for many, many years, he said of the games, adding that roulette is extremely popular in areas of Central and South America, where many tourists come from.

Though the new additions likely will not transform Florida into the new Vegas, the news release said that the launch immediately puts Florida in the same league as the worlds great gaming destinations.

The tribe is continuing to advance its virtual business as well. The Hard Rock Bet app became accessible to all Floridians Tuesday, and on Thursday, local pari-mutuels will begin to offer their own sports betting apps as part of a hub and spoke system where a chunk of the revenues go to the tribe. Allen estimated about 16 companies seemed interested.

The legal battles, meanwhile, continue.

The lawsuit before the U.S Supreme Court will likely extend into spring, possibly longer if the court decides to review the case. Last week, the court granted a request for an extension to file a writ of certiorari, pushing it from Dec. 11 to Feb. 8, three days before the Super Bowl.

Also last week, attorneys for Gov. DeSantis filed a response motion asking the Florida Supreme Court to dismiss the second case. That case could conclude as soon as Christmas, only a few weeks after the launch of in-person betting and the expansion of the app.
