‘Grey’s Anatomy’: The Truth Behind the Missing Intro Theme Song – Showbiz Cheat Sheet

ABCs long-running medical drama,Greys Anatomy, is beginning its seventeenth season on Nov. 12, 2020. Diehard fans are begging for creator Shonda Rhimes and showrunner Krista Vernoff to bring back the intro theme song. They want to know why its missing in the first place.

Creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes remembers fighting with everyone in the editing room over the pilots music forGreys Anatomy.

I put all of that music that you heard in the pilot, she toldBillboard. The guys came in and said, You cant have this music in the show, and they scored the show with this very testosterone-y music that made it sound like an action movie, and the show looked ridiculous.

At that moment, Rhimes recalls she thought the show was over. However, television executive Betsy Beers came to the rescue. She forced them to change everything back to the original music the creator chose.

But [I was] also watching how a show can become a completely different animal with different kinds of music, Rhimes recalls.

If Rhimes took such great care in choosing the music forGreys Anatomy, fans want to know why the intro theme song no longer plays before each episode. The piece Cosy in the Rocket by Psapp used to play while imagery of steamy moments in a hospital flashed across the screen. However, after the early seasons,Greysdropped the theme song and switched to a brief title flash.

I love the intro, mostly because of the nostalgia I have for the early series, one fan wrote onReddit.

Fans pointed out that they loved it when they brought the theme song back for the 300th episode.

The intro was iconic and a really beautifully filmed piece of the show, another fan added. It would be cool if they used the same song and aesthetic but made a new one for the current cast!

The year thatGreys Anatomylost their 26-second intro, so did many other TV shows, includingDesperate HousewivesandHeroes.

Producers feel, rightly or wrongly, that that interruption, if you will, is going to lose viewers, TV historian Tim Brooks toldToday. I think one of the things that has squeezed themes out is this relentless kind of move toward tightening everything, making it go right from joke to joke, from action to action, from shootout to shootout, so that you wont press the dreaded remote control.

He feels those theme songs are a thing of the past, and we wont see network television bringing them back anytime soon.

Grey’s Anatomy’s iconic bisexual star Sara Ramirez just came out as non-binary in the most touching way – PinkNews

Greys Anatomy star Sara Ramirez came out as non-binary Thursday night (August 27) in a touching Instagram post.

Ramirez, who played Callie Torres on the hit ABC medical drama, also updated their social media bio to describe themselves as a non-binary human and to note that their pronouns are she/they.

Uploading a photograph of their new Instagram display picture, the American-Mexican actor, 44, donned a purple v-neck t-shirt and triangle earrings to say: New profile pic.

In me is the capacity to be:Girlish boy,Boyish girl,Boyish boy,Girlish girl,All,Neither.

Playing a character who came out to her father as bisexual in 2009, during season five of Greys Anatomy, Sara Ramirez bulldozed the way for countless bisexual characters.

Seven years later, Ramirez came out as bi in the aftermath of the Pulse nightclub massacre.

They said that the tragedy sparked their decision to come out.

Coming out publicly was something that I was afraid of because I was concerned that it would affect my career in a negative way, they said.

I was afraid of the discrimination I might face, not just outside Hollywood, but inside.

As the years went by, and as the political climate intensified, and as I continued to read and hear about the countless forms of violence perpetrated against us, including the Orlando shooting at Pulse nightclub, an organic, incremental urgency to use my platform to empower those who are part of these communities that Im a part of came over me in a way that Ive never felt before.

Ramirez had no regrets about their decision, saying: Coming out publicly has given me a sense of relief.

Its been a form of liberation for me to own all of my identities so that I no longer feel the need to hold back or hide any parts of myself when I walk through any threshold in life.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Fans Are Still Arguing Over Alex Karev’s Send-Off Episode ‘It Was Disrespectful to His Character’ – Showbiz Cheat Sheet

LongtimeGreys Anatomyfans were heartbroken when the news broke that Justin Chambers was not returning to the show mid-season 16. Viewers had so many questions about how the writers would finish his character Alex Karevs story. However, when his farewell finally aired, fans had mixed feelings. The debate continues over whether or not it was disrespectful to his character.

Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl) left Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital in the sixth season ofGreys Anatomy. She makes a judgment error that threatens the life of a patient and is fired from the hospital. Izzie believes that Alex was responsible for her losing her job, although he wasnt.

She does try to make amends with Alex, but Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) tells her that he is moving on. Izzie leaves Seattle for a fresh start, and we do not get closure on her storyline until 10 years later, in season 16.

RELATED: Greys Anatomy: Does Katherine Heigl Regret Leaving the Show?

It turns out that she lives on a farm with her twins Eli and Alexis who she had with the embryos she and Karev created years ago. For many people, this was a controversial ending. Some wanted to see him end up with Izzie, but others are distraught about his current wife, Jo Wilsons (Camilla Luddington) fate.

I WANTED TO KNOW what happened to Izzie, one fan wrote onReddit. She was an original that we didnt know anything about for 10 years. Maybe some didnt care because, at this point, many original fans have stopped watching the show a long time ago. Especially after almost all originals were out, but that scene featured in Alexs departure episode gave me hope for a reunion someday.

Alexs ending was garbage and deserved the backlash, but almost all original viewers were happy he ended with Izzie, another fan added. That part wasnt the problem. The problem was how they brought about his ending. Making him into a liar, cheater, etc., was disrespectful to his character.

Other fans believe that the way he left Jo destroyed how far he had come as a character. WhenGreys Anatomybegan, he was not kind to women. However, by season 16, he developed into a man who respected and cherished his wife deeply. Critics believe that the way he left Jo to be with Izzie was entirely out of character.

RELATED: Greys Anatomy: Will Jo Wilson Face Jail Time for Taking Home the Baby as a Safe Haven Volunteer?

Alexs send-off episode was trash, another viewer wrote. The worst part are the scenes at the farmhouse with the kids and actors who are painfully not Izzie and Alex.

Throughout the farewell, Meredith, Jo, and Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) read letters from Alex that explained his departure. Fans do not think it was enough, and may even dislike the scenes with his children.

Its a mixed bag, oneRedditorwrote. Im glad hes willing to take responsibility to take care of children, but his treatment of Jo sucks. The perfect way wouldve been Alex and Jo take care of Alexs children together with Izzie.

Fans have come up with many different alternate endings for Chambers character. Some viewers even suggested it would have been better to have him die than abandon his wife.

Greys AnatomySeason 17 will return to ABC sometime in the fall of 2020, about a month and a half into the COVID-19 pandemic on-screen. Things will move on without Alex Karev, whether fans like his ending or not.

We might have some flashbacks, Giacomo Gianniotti toldEntertainment Tonight. We might have some things where were referencing last season, just to have context leading up. But we are going to have a little leap when we start this season in terms of time. Were not picking up right where we left off.

‘Grey’s Anatomy’: Camilla Luddington Shared the ‘Insulting’ Part of Preparing for Her Role as Princess Kate – Showbiz Cheat Sheet

Camilla Luddington of Greys Anatomy has been a fan fave since her debut in 2012. While she wasnt a superstar when she started on the medical drama, the British-born actor was a familiar face due to her portrayal of Kate Middleton on Lifetimes 2011 movie William & Kate.

In a previous interview, Luddington revealed she now considers one area of training for the role as a bit of a slight.

Chronicling the long courtship of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge that led to the altar, William & Kate became one of Lifetimes highest-rated movies. Discussing the royal role in a conversation with BUILD, Luddington revealed she didnt have much time before getting into character.

I had like maybe 10 days to prepare, the Greys star said in 2016. I remember when I got it, [Prince William and Princess Kate] had done one interview. They had done their engagement interview so there wasnt, like, much knowledge necessarily about her.

With little to work with other than magazine headlines highlighting Middletons fashion show attendance or night life outings, Luddington had to improvise to fill in the blanks.

RELATED:What Greys Anatomys Camilla Luddington Says About Her Other Acting Gig

Obviously there was tabloid stuff, the British actor recalled. We knew where she went to school a breakup and her out clubbing. But when you dont have much material to work with, you kind of have to take artistic license.

When asked in the interview how she prepared to portray the Duchess of Cambridge, Luddington revealed one aspect that, in retrospect, she sees as somewhat of an affront.

I think they just decided that I wasnt naturally graceful, Luddington explained. They sent me to, like, a coach to teach me how to be more graceful with my movement. Its insulting now that I think about it.

The Greys star was taught how to adopt a royal stance and posture so she could accurately emulate Princess Kate.

Like how to sit and get out of a car properly and how to curtsy properly, Luddington described. You know, things you definitely need in your everyday life.

Despite the required princess practice, Luddington enjoyed her time on the TV movie. Released shortly before the actual wedding of Prince William and Princess Kate, the films publicity tour coincided with the big event.

It was so fun, Luddington recalled. We got to do press in England after, during the week of the wedding. I felt like I was part of the wedding, and I was getting married, she added with a laugh.

Promoting the TV film also allowed the Greys star to experience some royal rituals.

We got to do like these amazing cheesy things like take a horse carriage ride around Windsor, Luddington said. I was like waving at randoms that didnt know who I was. I was like, Hey, its me. So, it was just so fun. It felt super festive.

While the Lifetime movie was a hit, the highest praise may have come from the famous couple on which the film was based.

We heard that Will and Kate did see the film from an insider, Luddington told Access Hollywood in 2011. They loved it.

6 ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Storylines Affected by the Planned Season 17 Time Jump – TVInsider

ABC/Gilles Mingasson (2); ABC/Raymond Liu

Grey's Anatomy is going to be including the coronavirus in its upcoming 17th season, and the latest details reveal that in doing so, the premiere will pick up "a month and a half into full COVID."

While production shut down on Season 16 four episodes early, the finale did leave a few storylines up in the air. What we see next from at least some of them will be affected by this time jump, whether it's how it plays out onscreen, like for the relationships of Drs. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) and Teddy Altman (Kim Raver), or what we'll now have to learn via flashbacks or in conversations, like Drs. Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone) and Atticus "Link" Lincoln (Chris Carmack) naming their baby.

Scroll down for the storylines we expect to play out a bit differently in Season 17.

Grey's Anatomy, Season 17, Fall 2020, ABC

As Season 16 came to an end, Teddy and Dr. Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) were about to get married until he learned of her affair with ex-boyfriend Dr. Tom Koracick (Greg Germann) via a voicemail she accidentally left him. He postponed the ceremony, ostensibly for work, but withGreys now picking up a month and a half later, Teddy will have to already know that Owen knows about Tom and the immediate fallout of that will have happened off-screen.

But how will quarantining and taking care of patients at the hospital affect the doctors? Will Teddy and Owen be living together with the kids? Will one be quarantining separately for the rest of the familys health and safety? Will there be some personal revelations as a result of whats happening in the world? Could personal relationships have been put on hold by the time we catch up to the doctors in the premiere? We likely wont be able to determine whats happened based on rings (or lack thereof), considering the doctors will be wearing PPE (personal protective equipment) at the hospital.

Meredith and Dr. Andrew DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) hit a rough patch in Season 16, and at the end of the finale, his mental health was more important than their relationship status. But the hospitals new doctor, Cormac Hayes (Richard Flood), was also set up as a potential love interest for Meredith after Cristina sent him to her as a gift.

Flood has been promoted to series regular for Season 17, suggesting that there could be a full-blown love triangle coming. But with the time jump and the coronavirus storyline, chances are that what each doctor is doing to help and where theyre quarantining will be a factor in where we find the relationships in the premiere. Are Meredith and Hayes able to stay with their kids? Is DeLuca with Meredith or perhaps with his sister, Dr. Carina DeLuca (Stefania Spampinato, now a series regular onStation 19)? That may depend on the next storyline

The spinoff saw Carina telling her girlfriend, firefighter Maya Bishop (Danielle Savre), my dad has bipolar I, and my sweet baby brother has inherited it. Over onGreys, he hadnt received a diagnosis yet, and Carina had only suspected the reason for his recent behavior.

Well likely skip even more of that storyline, including what happened when Meredith took him home at the end of the finale, by picking up a month and half later. Sure, there could be some flashbacks, but those would be to provide context for what we see play out in the present-day scenes.

In the finale, Amelia gave birth to her and Links son, but his name wasnt revealed. With the month and a half jump, that boy is going to already have a name, so well miss out on that conversation onscreen (and a flashback after its revealed probably wont be the same), as well as the days following them bringing him home from the hospital.

Last season, Dr. Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary) reconnected with Dr. Winston Ndugu at a medical conference, and after that one episode, Anthony Hill has been upped to series regular for Season 17. That suggests that Winston does in fact make the move to Seattle that hed said he would. Their (potential) relationship had taken a backseat when her father, Dr. Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.), fell ill and everyone worked together to determine his diagnosis.

With the time jump, we could possibly see Winston already in Seattle, instead of watching his arrival and what that means for him and Maggie play out onscreen in the beginning. Could they already be together when we see them for the first time in the premiere?

Richard and Dr. Catherine Foxs (Debbie Allen) marriage fell apart (making for a very awkward dinner) last season, but as he began his recovery from cobalt poisoning (as a result of a hip replacement), she had had a change of heart. The only problem is he hadnt. But just like his medical crisis led to her thinking about their future, might the coronavirus pandemic do the same for either of them?

Grey’s Anatomy: 5 Things That Changed After The Pilot (& 5 That Stayed The Same) – Screen Rant

Some TV series do not survive the pilot, certain ones only last for one season, and others extend over time, managing to captivate the audience over and over again. Grey's Anatomy is one of the longest-running television shows in history due to its success with audiences. Since the pilot, a lot has happened in this hospital.

RELATED: Which Grey's Anatomy Character Are You Based On Your Zodiac Type

Changes in the series have been made after the pilot or been presented over time during the seasons. Afterfifteen years and sixteen seasons, Grey's Anatomy retains many aspects of its essence, but it has also seen many transformations in its history, which have allowed viewers to remain hooked on the plot.

One of the best relationships in the whole series is the one between Cristina and Meredith. After Sandra Oh leaves the show, Meredith continues to talk to her occasionally on the phone. Since the pilot, the two women bonded and there was no rivalry whatsoever, even though, at times, there was tension and fights between them.

The great depth of their friendship has allowed the relationship to survive many things without problem, such as distance. They never apologize for who they are, they created an instant bond, they have the right closeness for the kind of person they are and they love to dance to de-stress and just be happy. When Cristina left, Meredith had to find another friend to be her "person" and she chose Alex to take the place, but as Alex Karev himself said, Meredith doesn't need anyone, she is her own person, but they will always continue to be friends.

Most interns at Grey's Anatomy begin with excitement and fear, Meredith was no different. Being the daughter of a famous surgeon didn't give her confidence from the start, it probably played against her. As she says in the pilot, her mother tried to dissuade her from studying medicine, because for Ellis Grey, Meredith didn't have what it took to be a surgeon.

Meredith is lost in the pilot, she highlights it from the first voice-over to the end. She doesn't have a good reason to be a doctor, but she has plenty of reason not to quit, so she continues. Her perseverance helped her to know that she had what it takes to succeed as a great doctor. The confidence she gained after every case, until she became one of the most respected surgeons in the country.

Grey's Anatomy is characterized by the voice-overs at the beginning of the show and at the end, this aspect has been maintained since the pilot "A Hard Day's Night." This detail makes the episodes closer to the viewer, in order to make them more empathetic with Meredith and her friends.

The narration is always present, but it wasn't originally thought of that way. The choice was made by Shonda Rhimes when she noticed something was missing. It was a good decision that gave meaning to much that happened on the screen, through thoughtful monologues.

Alex Karev is one of the most beloved characters in the series, as well as one of the most visible on screen (16 seasons), but this role was a last-minute decision. After filming the pilot, the producers wanted to have an additional male character to serve as an antagonist, so Justin Chambers was added in post-production for some scenes.

In the second episode Alex starts to be more important for the story and also becomes part of Miranda Bailey's team of interns, after he is reassigned from Jeremy's group. These changes had to be made after the pilot to make sense of his entry into the group of the five friends. In addition, the character evolves from being the abusive one to one of the closest to his friends and patients.

Meredith's house has appeared since the pilot, and almost every Grey's Anatomy doctor has passed through it, not only during meetings but also living there. Although in the first scene of the pilot Meredith tells Derek that she will sell the house, she finally explains to her mother that she decided to stay and rent the additional rooms.

The first ones to live in it were Izzie and George, but also at some point in the story it was inhabited by Callie, Alex, Derek, Jo, Lexie, Cristina, April, Jackson, Arizona, among others. When Derek and Meredith moved into their dream house, she sold it to Alex, but when Derek died Meredith bought it back. Since then, she has lived there with her children and her sisters Maggie and Amelia. So, the house has always been an important part of the story and has brought them all together.

Miranda Bailey was known at first as the Nazi, for her strong character and the way she treated the interns, which was terrifying for the new ones. She wasn't around to play games and had a clear goal to pursue no matter what.

Although Miranda retained that determination to fulfill all her ambitions, she grew with her character. Dr. Bailey became a guide for her students and a friend to those who survived the early stages of their work as doctors.

They couldn't do a series on medicine without death. Not all patients could be saved, even though these people are among the best doctors in the country. From the pilot, they wanted to show the fragility of human life.

But at Grey's Anatomy, death is not only a matter of patients, it is also very present within the medical staff, where tragic accidents and illnesses have made part of the cast change constantly. George O'Malley makes a kind of prediction during the pilot, he asks Meredith if they will survive, and although he refers to the period as interns, the phrase is key to predicting his future and that of many others.

During the pilot it is mentioned that there are twenty interns starting on the same day as Meredith and six of them are women. During this first episode it is seen how they are organized in groups of four and five, while they wait in the changing room, they are also present in the gallery during O'Malley's first operation and at lunch time.

RELATED: Grey's Anatomy: Top 10 Fan Favorite Characters

Although there are a lot of interns (extras) in the pilot, they did not continue their appearances. The exclusion of the rest of the interns makes the spectators forget about the fact that more actors played this role and concentrate only on Cristina, Meredith, Izzie, George and Alex.

For Grey's Anatomy it is important to show the maximum veracity during the high number of medical scenes that are done in the show, for this, they have medical advisors that guarantee that the terms used are the correct ones and that the procedures are being done in the right way.

These aspects have not become more flexible over time, because although the writers and actors know more about medicine (after 15 years) than any other media worker, they are not doctors.

Many television series don't maintain all the actors they had from the beginning and Grey's Anatomy is characterized by renewing the cast quite often, keeping only a few. Also, it is very difficult for the same actors to continue for 15 years.

Of the original cast, only Meredith, Richard Webber and Bailey are still in the picture. The first of the five interns to say goodbye to their role was George, who died after a bus accident. And the last was Alex in season 16, who had a bittersweet exit for fans who wanted to continue watching him on screen.

Anatomy of a Breast Cancer Survivor: The Blessings In Having A Tribe – Essence

The African proverb says it takes a village to raise a child. Well, it also takes a village to support a woman through her breast cancer journey, as there are many, many facets.

When I reflect on my journey, I see the blessings in breast cancer. Cancer is the gift that keeps on giving, but Ill focus on the gift of love.God showed me His unconditional love through so many people.I will one day write a book to share in great detail the thoughtful gestures of love and sprinkles of hope I received throughout my journey, but Ill just stick to the highlights for now.

Family Is Everything

My great aunt, Lenora Howard, affectionately known in our very Southern family as Aunt Sister, received her first mammogram at the age of 69. A mass was detected in her left breast and she was diagnosed with Stage 1 breast cancer.

When I shared with her the news of my diagnosis, she told me about her own experience. She elected for a partial mastectomy to remove the left breast and to keep the right breast.

The doctor asked me if I wanted implants, and I said, Naw, I dont want nothing, just get me out of this hospital! she enthusiastically recalled.

Aunt Sister didnt undergo chemotherapy or radiation therapy, and was prescribed Tamoxifen (hormone therapy drug that blocks the effects of estrogen in the breast tissue) for five years.

I never had any problems thereafter. I was truly blessed. The Lord blessed me, she reflects.

The diagnosis didnt stop her from living her best life. Now, at the age of 97, Aunt Sister is proof that surTHRIVERship is real and possible at any age. She demonstrated a level of strength that I channeled to fight my own diagnosis of Stage 2 breast cancer.

The nonagenarian is an important piece of my microcosm of co-surThrivers including an extremely loving family, church community, sorority sisters and sister friends. My village prayed fervently for, over and with me.

There were times when they would send dinner via UberEats or deliver home-cooked meals when I was too tired to cook. There were days in which I felt overwhelmed and sad, and my cheerleadeer, Aunt Angie, would deliver a smoothie, make-up or the latest item from the Skims collection to cheer me up, because I had to stay snatched during the journey, Chile. Every familial gesture equipped me with the I can do it strength to power through.

A Mothers Love

I thank God for the blessing of my mother, Ivy. I benefited from her level of selflessness and great attention to detail. (I refer to her as my lovegiver, not caregiver, by the way.) I have observed firsthand her remarkable strength through countless, agonizing doctors appointments and steady composure from day to day.

Before cancer, I had lived away from home since my early twenties. Now, more than a decade later, I had to move back home.I felt hopeless in a sense because I didnt want to be a burden, but she made being a patient so easy.

Ive had the chance to reconnect with her as The Levingston Ladies, our dynamic duo/mother-daughter moniker that encapsulates the closeness of our relationship. I understand what it means to serve others, as she demonstrates it through her lifelong devotion to church and community. She accepted her calling to the Deacon Ministry at our home church a decade ago and is a faithful servant. Shes a retired school administrator who is passionate about mentoring aspiring principals and assistant principals. And, shes a lifetime member of our illustrious sisterhood, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, through which she epitomizes our emphasis of service to all mankind.

Mom Ivy has taught me the definition of unconditional love. She humbly paused her activities during my chemo journey to take care of her only child in every aspect, even if that meant bathing me when I could hardly stand up in the shower after my bilateral mastectomy. That is unconditional love.

She has maintained steady composure since the day I called her on the phone with the life-changing news to present day. She channels it through her late father, my Baw-Baw, whom I know, along with grandmother Wade Ella, are the reasons I successfully powered through this rigorous health journey.

In the Black community, we often call on our ancestors to help us through challenging times, and lean on them for a mere portion of strength they channeled to endure years of slavery and racism.

I lean on their strength.

Teammates

I learned the value of relationships. When people show up for you and are fully present, thats a blessing. When friends go out of their way to help you, thats a blessing.

I realize some people dont know how or what to do, and thats understandable, so heres a list of action items I think will be helpful in supporting someone during a breast cancer (or any) health journey:

Purpose and Passion

The journey shifted my focus to hone in on whats most important in life, personally and professionally me. I understand the power of taking care of self mentally, spiritally, emotionally, and of course, physically.

Even in the midst of my own breast cancer struggles, I had to be mindful of keeping other people together. If youre married or partnered, or have children, you have to be strong for them, too.

Historically, we as Black women are known to hold it together for everyone. Michelle Obama eloquently said during a Q&A at the 25th ESSENCE Festival that its hard to put ourselves first as women. And, were so busy taking care of others, we forget to take care of ourselves. She encouraged us to prioritize self-care. Auntie Michelle, I hear you loud and clear and am making self a top priority!

My diagnosis prompted me to make a purposeful pivot and realize that serving others is so much more meaningful than climbing the ladder or keeping up with the Joneses. I gained clarity and a true sense of purpose (hello SurThriver!) coupled with a deeper desire to live like Ive never lived before. I now put more thought and consideration into my legacy.

Breast cancer gave me hope and so much peace, and confirmation that we as women are not alone. When youre down in the valley, youll find many blessings in there, too. There is a bright, sparkly light at the end of every tunnel.

The Anatomy of a SaaS Attack: Catching and Investigating Threats with AI – Infosecurity Magazine

Whether planned and executed over time or forced overnight by the global pandemic, the worlds digital transformation has prompted a surge in the use of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions in organizations across the globe. The annual growth rate of the SaaS market iscurrently 18%, and as the global workforce becomes increasingly remote throughout 2020, this figure is only set to skyrocket.

SaaS solutions have been an entry point for cyber-attackers for some time but little attention is given to how the Techniques, Tools & Procedures (TTPs) in SaaS attacks differ significantly from traditional TTPs seen in networks and endpoint attacks.

This raises a number of questions for security experts: how do you create meaningful detections in SaaS environments that dont have endpoint or network data? How can you investigate threats in a SaaS environment? What does a good SaaS environment look like as opposed to one thats threatening? A global shortage in cyber skills already creates problems for finding security analysts able to work in traditional IT environments hiring security experts with SaaS domain knowledge is all the more challenging.

Meanwhile, SaaS consumers are left with limited options: use the native SaaS security controls provided in each SaaS solution and risk a lack of security maturity or go with a third-party SaaS security solution, often in the form of Cloud Access Security Brokers (CASBs). Both options are not without their security risks.

Here are two examples of attacks recently detected by AI in SaaS environments that are representative of the broader SaaS threat landscape, and illuminate the sharp distinction between a traditional network attack and a SaaS compromise.

Office365 Business email compromise

In what amounted to a classic business email compromise (BEC), an attacker infiltrated an employees Microsoft 365 account to access sensitive financial documents hosted in SharePoint, including pay slip and banking details. Having gained initial entry, the attacker proceeded to make configuration changes to the inbox, deleting items and making updates that would enable them to cover their tracks.

The employees account login was first observed from unusual IP ranges. The account in question had never logged in from Bulgaria before, and the peer accounts belonging to those from the same department had not exhibited similar behavioral traits. This in itself was a low-level anomaly and not necessarily indicative of malicious activity after all, in the context of an increasingly distributed workforce, employees might change locations frequently.

Yet the unusual login location was accompanied by an unusual login time and a new User-Agent. All of these anomalies called for a deeper analysis. It was then identified that the account was starting to access highly sensitive information, including payroll information on a Sharepoint.

The attacker tried to gain insights about payment information and credit card details, with the likely intention of changing the payroll details to an attacker-controlled bank account.

AI-powered security technology was able to put together these weak signals of a threat and illuminate the likely account compromise. The companys security team was then able to lock the account and alert the user, who subsequently changed their credentials.

Box.com Compromise

At a global supply company, unauthorized access to an employees Box.com file storage account was detected. The login took place in the US where the company does operate but from an unusual IP space and ASN. AI began to investigate the users activity.

The actor behind the account logged in to Box.com successfully, and proceeded to download expense reports, invoices, and other financial documents. These were files that were highly unusual for the account to access.

Cyber AI also found that the activity occurred at a highly unusual time for the legitimate user, and the location of the actors IP address was anomalous compared to the employees previous access locations for this particular SaaS service.

An understanding of user behavior and granular visibility within the Box.com application allowed the company to spot the subtle signs of account compromise. Moreover, AI-powered investigation outlined the narrative in its entirety, showing how each unauthorized file exposure was part of a connected incident and a key concern for the security team.

A new era in SaaS domain defense

Ultimately, traditional detection approaches with hard and fast rules for how SaaS domains should operate are not enough to ensure that SaaS applications remain secure. Keeping threat intelligence lists up to date is even more difficult, as most SaaS attacks dont involve any Command & Control just indiscriminate logins from remote devices. When it comes to points of entry for SaaS attacks, the possibilities are endless: VPN, Tor, other compromised devices, dynamic DNS or even virtual private servers for attackers to cover their tracks.

A more intricate and effective approach to SaaS security requires an understanding of the dynamic individual behind the account. SaaS applications are fundamentally platforms for humans to communicate allowing them to exchange and store ideas and information.

Abnormal, threatening behavior is therefore impossible to detect without a nuanced understanding of those unique individuals: where and when do they typically access a SaaS account, which files are they like to access, who do they typically connect with? As the attacks outlined serve to demonstrate, these are questions for an AI brain to contend with.

Grey's Anatomywill be returning on the same night as Station 19 with a two-hour premiere and an epic crossover event on Thursday, Nov. 12, and TV Guide has an exclusive teaser of these COVID-19 episodes. Respective series stars Ellen Pompeo and Jaina Lee Ortiz provide the voiceover for the teaser trailer that will officially premiere Sunday night during the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards. While there's no new footage from the respective shows in the clip, the actresses emphasize how doctors and first responders have been on the front lines of the pandemic and tease, "Sometimes, we all need saving," which is the tagline for Grey's Anatomy Season 17. It sounds like we need to be worried.

When we last left off with both crews, Andy (Ortiz) had just found out on Station 19 that her mom hadn't actually died when she was a little girl, but had instead left her and her father. Meanwhile on Grey's, Meredith had managed to save Richard (James Pickens Jr.) thanks to a miraculous last-minute diagnosis from DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti), but it spurred him to admit something was wrong. That's not to mention all the Teddy (Kim Raver) and Owen (Kevin McKidd) drama... We have a lot to figure out when these shows return. Luckily, it's only a few weeks away!

The Station 19 and Grey's Anatomy crossover event begins Thursday, Nov. 12 at 8/7c.

Sandra Oh Reveals Why She Fought With Greys Anatomy Writers and Shonda Rhimes – Variety

During her 10 seasons on Greys Anatomy, Sandra Oh was so deeply invested in playing Dr. Cristina Yang, shed often get into heated debates with the writers about her character.

In an interview with Varietys Actors on Actors issue, Oh spoke to Kerry Washington who starred in Scandal about what it was like going to-to-toe with Shonda Rhimes, who created both shows.

I spent a lot of time with writers, and television is all about your relationship with the writer, Oh said. What I was able to get from Greys is to have the responsibility and the relationship with the writer to be able to direct where shes going. If something kind of came up which was like, That is completely wrong, I would go toe-to-toe with Shonda and a lot of the writers, which has been challenging. But I think ultimately, for the entire product and our relationship, if youre fighting for the show, if youre fighting for your character, people can tell that.

Oh recalled a story line in Season 3 of Greys Anatomy when Cristina was going to marry Preston Burke (Isaiah Washington).

Most of the shows that I have done have not been Asian-specific purposefully, Oh said. When we did Greys, for at least the first 10 seasons we would not talk about race. We would not go into race, and that was purposeful. And, whatever, it was the right thing to do when it was. In Season 3, Burke and Cristina were getting married and there were the two mothers, the Asian mother and the Black mother, and Im like, Come on, there is a lot of story that we can do here! But they didnt want to touch it, for whatever reason. Now my interest is much more in bringing that story in.

Kerry Washington said that when she read the scripts for Scandal, shes always start with positive feedback before suggesting any notes.

Any of the writers who I worked with, Im sure they know my face, Oh said. What can I say? I have a Korean mom, and shes got a tough face to place. Shes got a tough face!

Its the truth, Washington said. Youre a truth-teller, which is a beautiful thing.

I feel like, when I look back, because its been six years now since I left Greys, I feel like one of my biggest successes, for me, was I dont feel I gave up, Oh said. We did 22 episodes, but in the early years, it was 24. It was crazy. Then you have to kind of pick your moments of where you can lay off the gas pedal, because it is such a slog. There would be scenes that I would just go, I dont know, 10 rounds on, and I know I was difficult. And I really respect all the writers there who rode it out with me.

What does that mean, you would go 10 rounds? Washington asked.

I would go 10 rounds in saying, Its not right,' Oh said. Youve got to do different levels with the writer, and then you bump it up and you eventually get to [Shonda]. Youve got to bother her. When it felt like such an impasse, we would both be digging in our heels hugely. But just the friction itself, a lot of times a third thing would come out, and it would not be in my sight of consciousness at all; it would take that pushing against someone equally as strong. I started to learn how to trust that.

Oh recently wrapped the third season of Killing Eve, and Washington stars as Mia on the limited series Little Fires Everywhere.

For more from Varietys conversation with Oh and Washington, read our full story here.

Anatomy of an earworm: Inside Kero Kero Bonitos toe-tapping Bugsnax theme – PlayStation.Blog

My name is Gus Lobban. Im a songwriter, producer and one-third of the indie-pop group Kero Kero Bonito. In January, our world changed in a way that we couldnt have imagined: Kero Kero Bonito were brought into the world of Bugsnax.

Ill never forget the briefing phone call Phil at Young Horses got straight into it. So, the games called Bugsnax, and its about this island where all the creatures are part bug, part snack, and when the Grumpuses eat them, their body parts transform into them. Let me know if youve got any questions! Erm, yeah, uhhh

My starting point for Its Bugsnax! was the D-Am chords the song rests on. The I-Vm chord change and the Mixolydian mode it implies conjure a lost world atmosphere to me; positive, but with a definite note (pun intended) of mystical intrigue, much like Bugsnax itself. I built up the song from there by programming a drum track, then improvising chords on a keyboard while singing hooks over the top. I made the songs form similar to earlier KKB songs like Picture This, which Phil had explained felt close in spirit to what they were looking for.

I laid down most of the track including the drums, pan flutes and kalimba with my Roland JV-1010, a multi-timbral sound module from 2000. I love using old rompler modules because (as well as my affection for the fifth-gen game soundtracks theyre used in) they pack a variety of evocative sounds and theyre easy to use, which lets me focus on composing and arranging.

The song needed a non-vocal hook to set the scene, so I came up with the melody that opens Its Bugsnax! off the top of my head and played it with a patch on my DX7 I programmed for the last KKB album.

My Roland JV-1010, which provides many of the sounds for Its Bugsnax!

Lyrically, Ian McKinneys song about the Young Horses game Octodad: Dadliest Catch was a useful reference. The catchiest songs are often the most obvious that songs chorus is basically just Octodaa-aaad, and Bugsnaxs title ended up being our main hook too. The lyrics mostly relay the experience of playing Bugsnax in a literal way (a classic KKB technique), while the line talkin bout Bugsnax came to me in a flash of divine inspiration, for which I was a mere Vessel.

We couldnt meet up to record the vocals, so Its Bugsnax! was the first KKB song to use our remote lockdown recording setup. Our singer Sarah nailed the vocals the first time, and Young Horses were clear about what they wanted, which made putting everything together easy. Seeing the gameplay footage match up with the corresponding lyrics in the trailer was very satisfying.

The original handwritten lyrics

We had no idea how Bugsnax was launching. Phil just referred cryptically to the event. We should have put two and two together, but it was certainly a pleasant surprise when the PS5 reveal came around. You never know exactly how a song will be received, but Its Bugsnax! has had a particularly wonderful response; within days of the announcement Id seen it soundtracking memes, covered by metal and folk artists and reacted to by toddlers. The latter was quite moving, since some of my giddiest childhood memories were fueled by the excitement of new video games, and contributing to someone elses experience of that is really, really special.

Its Bugsnax! is already one of my favourite KKB moments so far. To all of you whove found it stuck in your head, sung it to your dog, or just wondered what the hell was happening, I have this to say: it isnt over yet.

Greys Anatomys Matthew actor admits Jackson and Aprils relationship is the real love story – The Sun

GREY's Anatomy Matthew actor believes that the real love story on the show belongs to Jackson and April.

Fans of the hospital drama often been divided on the couples of Japril (Jackson Avery and April Kepner) and Mapril (Matthew Taylor and April).

April has flip-flopped between the two men several times, but she finally seems to have made up her mind as she tied the knot with Matthew spontaneous wedding ceremony in season 14.

But actor Justin Bruening, who plays sweet-natured paramedic Matthew in the long-running ABC show, admits that the most true and authentic romance in fact belongs to Jackson and April.

He told Entertainment Weekly: "I got stopped at a grocery store recently, they can't place where they recognise me from. I'll say, 'Well, it's probably Grey's,' and then they'll get wide-eyed and ask, 'Who are you?' I'll say Matthew. And they're like, 'Oh yeah, we love you... but to be honest, we want Jackson and April together.'

He added: "I take it as a compliment. I did my job. My purpose the first time was to get Jackson and April back together, and my purpose the second time was to give April the happy ending she truly deserved."

Justin, 40, even went compared Jackson and April with the ultimate love story of Romeo and Juliet and added that his character has done all the right things.

He explained: "That's the love story. It's Romeo and Juliet. Two people that shouldn't be together want to be together, and that's completely fine, even though I'm married to her now. So technically, I won."

"I guess there were some Mapril people. There's a lot of sympathy for my character because he is so nice."

"In their minds, Matthew did all the right things. But an attraction is an attraction. You can't fight that. I'm more than happy to take the back burner to Japril."

Grey's Anatomy's show-runner Krista Vernoff has given a hotly-anticipated update on the production of season 17.

Vernoff spoke to TV Line about when the writers would be getting together in order to discuss the next season.

The discussions will go ahead this month using Zoom, a video call platform that has seen a surge in uptake since the beginning of quarantine.

She also stated that filming was set to start in July, but due to the ongoing restrictions, this may not be possible.

The producer said: "The hope is that we will be able to start production when we usually do, which is in July. But we have to wait and see how this thing plays out, obviously."

Grey's Anatomy airs on Sky Witness with episodes also available on Amazon Prime and NOW TV.
