Toddler Diagnosed with Ataxia – Video

Toddler Diagnosed with Ataxia
Marisol is a 4 year old girl diagnosed with ataxia. Before BalanceWear, her parents say she had a very difficult time keeping her balance and would fall 7-8 times a day, often hurting herself and ending up in the emergency room. This past August, she received the BalanceWear Stabilizing Garment and now wears it every day. These days, Marisol only falls about once a day and is able to run around and play with her friends and has recently learned to use a fork when eating. She and her family are so pleased with the contribution BalanceWear has made to her improvements, along with attending preschool and regular physical therapy. We are so happy to see her running around and enjoying being a little girl again!From:motiontherapeuticsViews:21 0ratingsTime:01:45More inScience Technology

Building A Gingerbread House with Cerebral Palsy

I spent all day building it and decorating it but I got it done! At the end I don #39;t have the gingerbread tree, snowman, and gingerbread man because my dog, Bailey, took all of them when I wasn #39;t looking and ate them up fast. Thank you for watching! Inpatient Sleeping Drug Quadruples Risk of Falls – Video

Inpatient Sleeping Drug Quadruples Risk of Falls
According to a Mayo Clinic study published in November of 2012 in the journal, Hospital Medicine, the use of sleeping pills such as Ambien (zolpidem) quadruple the risk of falls. These drugs, which stimulate GABA brain receptors, have side effects such as dizziness, ataxia, hallucinations, and even sleep walking, may be much of the reason why. Falls can lead to fractures, blood clots in the lungs, and head trauma. There are many other much safer and more effective sleep enhancement approaches such as music, meditation, hypnotherapy, guided imagery, autosuggestion, and even brain wave balancing that could be considered that don #39;t have significant and potentiallyl dangerous side effects. Of course, the underlying reasons for insomnia should be addressed too. Factors such as pain, sleep apnea, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and many others should be addressed whenever possible.From:DoctorSaputoViews:0 0ratingsTime:06:17More inEducation
