On Wednesday, October 17th, MJFF hosted the fifth event in its Hot Topics in PD Research Seminar Series: "Cognition and PD." The webinar, which is now available on demand, was led by David Burn, MD, of Newcastle University, and Jamie Eberling, PhD, associate director of research programs at MJFF. During the one-hour event, Burn and Eberling addressed the following topics: - How cognitive impairment affects people with Parkinson #39;s disease (PD). - How the drug development field is searching for new treatments in cognition. - What people with PD can do today, both for themselves and to help drive forward research. Monumental Marathon Story - Parkinson #39;s Disease Cancer Survivor, Steve Gilbert
On June 18th, 2004, Steve Gilbert was diagnosed in the early stage of aggressive prostate cancer. Later that year he was diagnosed with Parkinson #39;s disease. This video shares part of his story to health through a truly Monumental experience at the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon. The story Steve shares is one of hope and fulfillment that followed his diagnosis of Parkinson #39;s disease. Five years ago he wandered into the Rock Steady Boxing gym and began a training program for people with Parkinson #39;s that would change his life. As a result of this training he is in the best physical (and spiritual) condition of his life. In the process, he learned that many personal limits are self-imposed and only serve as an excuse not to push farther. Steve found the joy of discovering and appreciating the talents and blessings that God has given him, and of using those gifts as a way of honoring them. This video demonstrates molecular dynamics simulation of the Parkinson #39;s disease linked kinase called LRRK2. A typical kinase undergoes a duty cycle switching between "on" (DFG-in) and "off" (DFG-out) states regulating its own activity. The G2019S mutant however does not and stays in a perpetual "on" state that eventually eventually leads to Parkinson #39;s disease. See the video on the G2019S to see the differences between wild type and mutant.

Trapezia drum ear miracle healing. This lady came to our last two weekends of healing meetings in Brisbane. Yesterday she testified that an ear problem which made flying painful, was healed. 4 years ago an ear drum burst and she had surgery on the ear which since then suffered severe pain with a change of air pressure and caused migraines. This was a problem because the lady needs to fly regularly for business.
