AUTISM: 15 year old learning to ride on a horse, western style – Video

AUTISM: 15 year old learning to ride on a horse, western style
This short video shows my son learning to maneuver a horse. It #39;s no easy task, with or without autism! Horse back riding is a wonderful therapy for those who have autism. I guess depending of the severity of the autism, you can opt to riding lessons instead of riding therapy. We chose the riding lessons. He started using muscles he was not using, and I believe his brain began making new connections. If you are an autism parent, I highly recommend you look into horse back riding lessons for your child.

AUTISM – At age 15 – Video

AUTISM - At age 15
The following is another video of my son. Early last year, he was taking horseback riding lessons. He took to it very well, and we did notice some major improvements in his posture and body modulation. Learning to ride on a horse, gave him the opportunity to use muscles he was not using in his body. Hence, the brain started making new connections. If you can afford horseback riding lessons for your child with Autism, I HIGHLY recommend it!

selfstim behavior – Video

selfstim behavior
for those who don #39;t know Jo, this behavior seems to prove she is autistic. I know I #39;ve had people argue with me about right here on youtube. She is not autistic. She is blind and I believe this is a selfstim soothing behavior. I took this video a couple of weeks after her adoption. Right in the middle of the tough adjustment time. She still does this behavior, a year later, but not as often and usually only when she is bored. It is easy to redirect her attention to something else. I #39;m posting this video as an example of what I believe is a selfstim behavior in a child who is not autistic since most everyone associates selfstim with autism.

Video Modelling to Support Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder – Video

Video Modelling to Support Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
Using the Document Camera and Screen Recorder tools for video modelling in order to support social, emotional and life skills development for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Why are we using Promethean Whiteboards in Special Education? This is a collection of video tutorials made by the Assistive Tech Team in Toronto District School Board for educators who work with students in special education. We hope to not only outline the use of tools specific to the Promethean whiteboard software, but to demonstrate why we use these features to enhance the learning for our students.
