From the Dugout: How the Cubs’ hex was lifted – Parker Pioneer

I hope everyone who participated in the annual Flog tournament on Saturday, July 16, had a good time. I hope no one got too overdone by the sun. I heard some of the Arizona Diamondbacks were considering coming out to Parker for the tournament. I understand they decided against it because none of them could hit a ball with a baseball bat.

Yes, that was supposed to be funny.

I believe I have finally learned how the Chicago Cubs won the World Series in 2016. You see, it all goes back to an incident in the off-season in 2012. It seems that a pair of coyotes were spotted near the main entrance to Wrigley Field at Clark and Addison there in Chicago.

It was thought at the time they had wandered into the city from a rural area. Some thought they were just hanging out by Wrigley Field, or perhaps they wanted to get in line early for season tickets. I also heard they learned the Road Runner had a place near Wrigley Field on Waveland Avenue.

However, according to my sources, all this speculation was way off the mark. There was something else involved here. The coyotes were there because theyd been hired to deal with the Billy Goat.

Thats right, the Billy Goat. The same Billy Goat that put a hex on the Cubs. For the uninitiated, this Billy Goat was denied a seat at the 1945 World Series. He placed a hex on the Cubs, declaring they would never go to the Series again.

It seems the Chicago outfit decided they were tired of the Cubs losing, so they hired the coyotes to put pressure on the Billy Goat to lift the hex from the Cubs.

According to my sources close to this matter, Mr. W.E. Coyote and Mr. B.B. Wolf, the local mobsters started to make their plans soon after the Cubbies lost the 2003 National League Championship Series to the Florida Marlins. They decided they were fed up with the Billy Goat and decided he needed to be taught a lesson and brought in line.

The reason they didnt put their plan into effect right away was because they had other matters to attend to, like fixing Chicago elections.

So, the coyotes outside Wrigley Field in 2012 were not there by accident. They were there to send a message. They were there to make it very clear to the Billy Goat the Chicago outfit meant business. He better play ball with them, or he might find himself becoming a, cheeseburger, cheeseburger, cheeseburger.

It took four years, but the Cubbies finally won the Series in 2016. This was 108 years after they last took the title, and 71 years since their last appearance in the Series. It looks like the Billy Goat was persuaded to lift the hex.

It looks like the coyotes outside Wrigley Field did their job. I hope they got tickets to one of the World Series games as a reward for their efforts.

Of course, if you believe any of what Ive just told you, I have a bridge Id like to sell you. Its that pretty orange one on the north end of San Francisco.

As for why the Cubs havent won the Series since 2016, it appears to be more mundane things, like an overall lack of talent. We cant blame the Billy Goat for that.
