Ron Paul: Only winner this Election Day will be ‘the status quo’

Former Republican presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul (Texas) said Tuesday he was still not endorsing either presidential candidate because he believed both represented a continuance of the status quo.

"I don't think there's enough difference between the two candidates, and I assume the victor today will be the status quo," Paul told CNN. "We're going to continue with basically the same policies that we've had for a long time, so I don't see the election, as the way it's turning out, to be very crucial at all."

In a June appearance on Fox News, the younger Paul said that while his "first choice had always been my father," he was now supporting the Republican nominee.

"Now that the nominating process is over, tonight, I am happy to announce I am supporting Gov. Romney," Paul said.

Tuesday marks the first time in decades that Ron Paul will not appear on the ballot in his home state of Texas. The 77-year-old congressman plans to retire at the end of his term this year.
