In court, management and an attorney representing Serenity Towers told the judge about the progress being made, including restoring A/C to a majority of units and the return of hot water.

Michael McCusker, Assistant Shelby County D.A., said, The hot water was somewhat of a surprise. They reported last week that it will be 14 to 16 weeks before they could get the hot water restored.

McCusker said 240 units out of the buildings 396 have cold A/C.

Its encouraging because some significant progress has been made, he said.

Still, theres a lot of work left to be done at the struggling complex.

Over the last few weeks, on extremely hot days, FOX13 has spoken with people who said they slept outside due to some of the units reaching more than 80 degrees.

Judge Patrick Dandridge told management to return to court Thursday morning to give another update on if or when repairs will be complete.

Another issue that needs to be resolved is the infestation of bugs and mold.
