Ultrabeat to start Newcastle club night with help from N-Trance and Flip ‘n’ Fill – ChronicleLive

Posted: May 11, 2017 at 1:02 pm

Dance fans hold onto your hats and get your glowsticks at the ready as a Newcastle nightspot is playing host to three Clubland favourites all on the same night.

Fresh from hosting Ibiza sax sensation Lovely Laura this Saturday, May 13, Cosmic Ballroom will welcome Ultrabeat, N-Trance and Flip n Fill a week later on Saturday, May 20.

Ultrabeat well known for Clubland classics Pretty Green Eyes, Elysium and Feeling Fine are actually starting a new party at Cosmic Ballroom - Ultrabeat & Friends - and for their launch they will be inviting two fellow dance legends to join the festivities.

N-Trance were formed in 1991 and since then they have sold over five million records worldwide. Their most famous hit single is still probably Set You Free. With Kelly Llorenna on vocals, the track was smash of epic proportions at the end of 1994 and is still a real anthem today. Their other top 10 hits included Stayin Alive and Forever.

Flip n Fill are most famous for early Noughties tracks True Love Never Dies and Shooting Star as well as their remix of Whitney Houstons I Wanna Dance With Somebody.

Tickets to see the trio in action at Cosmic Ballroom are on sale online now from Not Just A Ticket priced 10.

Sasha, Pete Tong, Darude – where are the House and Trance pioneering DJs of ’90s now? – Mirror.co.uk

Posted: at 1:02 pm

During the '90s a new force in music rose to prominence, and became an all-conquering force.

For many teens growing up in the later years of the decade and early Noughties, the likes of Sandstorm, Right Here, Right Now, Ride, and Children were the soundtrack to their coming-of-age.

But what happened to the pioneering mixers who pioneered the defining Balearic beat and conquered the charts at the same time?

Darude

Ville Viranen, better known to the world as Darude, is most famous for his 1999 floor-filling chart-topper, Sandstorm.

Following the release of the 1999 hit-single, which smashed into the Top 10 in seven countries, the Finn saw his star rise, with his debut album Before the Storm securing him a place in the pantheon of the new dance gods.

Now, 41, Ville has turned his hand towards the business of running a label EnMass Music (which he co-founded with Randy Boyer), the DJ is still making music and touring the world blasting out bangers.

Sasha

Welsh DJ Sasha, real-name Alexander Paul Coe, began playing acid house back in the '80s but made the move into the progressive house and trance scene in the '90s.

Having escaped his hometown of Bangor, Sasha was voted the World No. 1 DJ in 2000 by the readers of DJ Magazine.

Having only released four studio albums, his 2002 effort, Airdrawndagger remains his biggest hit, and earned him a place in the UK top 20 and Billboard 200 in the US.

Also famed for performing and mixing with long-term collaborator Digweed (John Digweed), the Welsh master mixer has since gone on to release a number of mix tapes as well as work on remixes of The XX, Foals and Benjamin Damage.

He has since released his Last Night On Earth project, which has seen him throw huge parties and raves around the globe, with a festival in London even taking place back in 2014.

Pete Tong

Apart from helping to give birth to the phrase, "everything's gone Pete Tong", the Kent-born star is one of the undisputed legends of the house movement.

Rising to the forefront of the House and Balaeric beat movement of the nineties and noughties, Pete has seen his star rise exponentially since his days packing out the famed Cream nightclub in Ibiza.

Having held his own show on BBC Radio 1 since 1991, which sees him plays the most essential house tracks, has seen him gain an MBE (2014) and become the second longest-serving DJ on the station.

Still firmly in the musical mix, the father-of-two has also recently been joined in the musical field by his daughter Becky.

Fatboy Slim

Perhaps the most commercially successful of the superstar house DJs, Fatboy Slim, real name Norman Cook, has come a long was since his break-out debut, Better Living Through Chemistry (1996).

More recently the Praise You hit-maker has hit headlines due to the breakdown of his marriage to TV presenter Zoe Ball last year.

More recently Norman has been cracking on with his passion, and has been spinning block-rocking beats across the world.

Robert Miles

Having passed away aged 47 from an unkown illness, the Swiss-born DJ and House pioneer will be remembered for his iconic House anthem, Children.

Choosing to step out of the limelight in his later years, Robert set up OpenLab radio in Ibiza in 2013, and worked on the project up until his death in May.

VIX Closes at Lowest Since 1993 as Trance Deepens in Market – Bloomberg

Posted: at 3:41 pm

For anyone nourished on volatility, the famine in global markets is worsening.

With the French election ending in a victory for Emmanuel Macron, one more thing said to threaten global stability has made a quiet exit. For investors already looking at record-low price turbulence, the defeat of far-right candidate Marine Le Pen means even more risk removed from the table.

European stock volatility measured by the Euro Stoxx 50 Volatility Index fell to the lowest since March on Monday, even as a two-week advance in both the euro and global stocks in the lead-up to the final vote left little room for a relief rally. At the same time, the CBOE Volatility Index decreased 7.6 percent to 9.77, the lowest since 1993.

Complacency has returned in such quick fashion that its starting to feel like 2005-06, when nothing seemed to faze the broader markets, George Goncalves, a fixed income strategist at Nomura, wrote in a note to clients.

Volatility in the U.S. equity market has dissipated as stock investors whistled past geopolitical unknowns from populist politics to heightened threats from North Korea. While trade agreements, tax reform and the future of financial regulation may hang in the balance, investors have instead focused on one of the best global earnings seasons in a decade and signs of economic growth.

Calm has blanketed other markets as well. Volatility in U.S. Treasuries is down 24 percent since last month and fell to the lowest since October, according to a Merrill Lynch index that gauges volatility from options prices. In the currency market, aJPMorgan Chase & Co. index of volatility in G-7 currencies is at its lowest in more than two years.

The VIX is down 32 percent since the first round of French voting two weeks ago. Swings in the S&P 500 have also narrowed this year, with the benchmark gauge moving an average 0.31 percent each day, compared with 0.58 percent throughout 2016, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Thats happened as global equity markets rally 9 percent so far this year, buoyed by double-digit percentage gains in European markets, led by surges in French and German shares.

The explanation may lie in economic data, both in the U.S. and abroad, that has either kept up with analyst expectations or exceeded them. While the rate at which U.S. economic reports beat estimates has fallen the last month, its roughly equal to where it began the year, judging by Bloombergs Economic Surprise Index.

Meanwhile, the Federal Reserve has brushed aside signs of weakness in the worlds largest economy. Central bankers left benchmark rates unchanged at their meeting last week but signaled theyre still on track to hike two more times this year, an expectation shared by market participants betting on the path for rates.

Risk-taking began to deteriorate earlier this year as ambiguity brought about by the Politics of Rage dampened strategic risk taking, Barclays Plc analysts led by Giovanni Paci wrote in a note Sunday. Resolution of near-term risks, with no other clear themes or major risk events to trade tactically, is likely to take activity and volatility further down.

Trance-Energy Radio | – Feel the Trance Energy

2017 seems to be the year for the great comeback of former Trance producers, who have been gone for a while. But Trance was never gone, and as we all have seen in the last few events, coming back is not always the easiest task.

In the last few years, we have seen many Trance producers emigrating to other genres of electronic music, many of those were considered pioneers in the trance scene, but also other were the new up-and-coming promises of trance (or at least thats what we thought).

A few weeks ago many of us attended (virtually, remotely or in person) to the A State of Trance stage at the Ultra Music Festival in Miami, which has been on everyones lips due to the comeback of two main acts: NWYR and Purple Haze, these are the new stage names for W&W and Sander van Doorn respectively.

Almost everyone has a dream in their lives. Some are simple, some are unreal, but when they come true you always feel amazing! It was the same with me even a week before #ASOT810 I didnt know that I would be there, and even after many days it still feels like a dream I wouldnt believe it was real if I didnt have the photos to prove it.

I will try to describe everything as good as possible, and I hope it can help you too (or at least feed your curiosity).

After a long awaited 8 months since I first heard of Transmission coming to Asia, I was very excited and at the same time skeptical about if it was really going to happen. It was only 5 months ago, when they officially announced (around early November 2016) that Transmission: The Lost Oracle was going to be staged at Bitec Bangkok, Thailand on 10 March 2017.

ASOT800 I live for that energy

One week later and still under the spell, after a major trance weekend event, I could barely put myself on tracks this week. The sparkles of an amazing experience still creep under my skin and along my back.

First with Luminosity Trance Gathering on Friday 17th Feb, opening the Gala Trance Weekend in full-mode on, and just before the main event of the weekend, the international indoor festival ASOT800: celebrating 800 radio shows of A State Of Trance, taking place on Saturday 18th February.

After a long year waiting, A State of Trance Festival finally came. And it still feels as it went way too fast. An event that exceeded expectations and that brought some surprises: heres atake on this night with thefacts and my personal input.

What an event! Every year ALDA events tries to raise the stakes a little higher when it comes to organizing a new edition of A State of Trance festivals in the Jaarbeurs (Utrecht, The Netherlands). It has been becoming a ritual for me, something that I have to do religiously every year. I feel lucky that with every edition I like it more, and I feel a big part of it has to do with the effort and dedication behind that both the organizers and the DJs put into this gig.

Under the theme I live for that energy, A State of Trance has deployed a number of renowned and up-and-coming DJs that have provided one of the best spectacles in Trance and have set high expectations for the rest of the year.

Happy New Trance Year!

With 2017 already here, and many new Trance events around the corner, it was now good timing for a new editorial, especially since the closing of 2016 was also a sort of firework time in itself.

But, first things first, on behalf of the whole staff team of Trance-Energy Radio, we want to wish all our listeners (and readers) a happy New Year!

After major indoor festival Grotesque, here in the Netherlands, we were looking forward to the Christmas holidays, a time when families gather together to celebrate and share, a time to get ready to close the year and welcome the new one.

Anjunabeats Hosts a Trance Showcase on Cinco de Mayo at the Church – Westword

Posted: at 11:11 pm

Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 6 a.m.

Anjunabeats stopped by the House of Blues in Boston.

@TonyColasurdo

While trance music and Cinco de Mayo may be far from synonymous, both offer global excuses to go wild on a Friday night. Anjunabeats, the London-based record label founded in 2000 by the members of Above and Beyond, will be taking over the Church nightclub on Friday, May 5.

With over 100 DJs, producers and artists under the Anjunabeats banner, the label is a guiding force in the worlds of trance, progressive trance, house trance ("trouse") and deep-house sounds. The label has had recent notoriety with Audien, Dirty South, Mat Zo and Tritonal finding their way into many hot mixes and radio playlists.

Andrew Bayer and ilan Bluestone going back to back.

@tobiaswang

Andrew Bayer, one of the Anjunabeats performers who will be playing in Denver, is an American traditionally trained in music at the prestigious Berklee College of Music. Bayer has co-producer credits on two of Above and Beyond's biggest records: Group Therapyand We Are All We Need. On his hit single "Celestial," he mixes cosmic and cinematic elements sure to fill the arches of the Church.

Accompanying Andrew Bayer is the surging ilan Bluestone. The London-based artist has been climbing the Beatport trance and overall charts, with his songs popping up in radio shows and in live performances of trance gods Armin Van Buuren and Tiesto. Bluestone's latest single, "Frozen Ground," is not even a month old and has been received with open arms from crowds throughout the tour. Bluestone's impressive use of vocals in his productions combined with Bayer's long, pillow-like rhythms should make for an unbelievable set.

Also in the lineup: promising up-and-comer Jason Ross. Ross has been working alongside many of the Anjunabeats crew, including Kaskade and Seven Lions, and also remixing some of Above and Beyond's best songs. His immersive single "Me Tonight" has topped the Beatport trance chart at number one.

Be sure to show up early in order to catch Fatum. A relatively new name to the Ajunabeats family, Fatum has dropped two original mixes, "Superfecta" and "Pharaoh," to bring to the showcase.

Paul Van Dyk brings trance tour to Dallas – The Daily Campus

Posted: at 11:11 pm

Paul Van Dyk is lighting up the DJ world. The Grammy award-winning producer is making a comeback after suffering a near-fatal accident on stage last year. Van Dyk not only was the first trance/dance producer to be nominated for a Grammy but was also voted the No. 1 DJ in the world by DJ Mag thrice. He brought his energetic show to Dallas April 28 at the South Side Music Hall. The Daily Campus was lucky enough to get a few questions answered by Van Dyk.

Daily Campus: I saw youve worked on a number of film soundtracks as well as albums. What is the difference in that creative process? Do you prefer one or the other?

Paul Van Dyk: Working on an album allows me to do completely what I like to do with no boundaries or anyone but me having a say in the music I make. On a soundtrack, its also down to the director and the producers and the studio executives who determine what the outcome will be. Both are a lot of fun but its a very different approach from an artistic point.

DC: What is the creative process like for a DJ to put together an album?

PVD: I can only speak for myself, but first of all I am an artist and my art is music. I am inspired by life itself. Everything I see or experience somehow ends up in my music. I have an idea; I record it and continue working on it until it becomes a piece of music that I feel confident about.

DC: Do you prefer to work in the studio or perform live? Why?

PVD: I like both because the way I work, they influence each other.

DC: If somebody were getting to know your music, what would you recommend they listen to first?

PVD: I dont have a favorite track that Ive made. I guess in order to find out what I am all about musically, youd have to listen to all of it!

DC: If you could collaborate with any other artist working right now, who would that be? Why?

PVD: Im more concerned about sharing a connection and an artistic vision with an artist rather than working with someone purely because of their fame. There are so many amazing artists out there that I could imagine making great music with.

DC: I saw youre currently touring; how has that been so far? Any standout places? Anywhere youre looking forward to?

PVD: I just came back from an extensive tour through Asia, with shows in China, Malaysia, Indonesia and Japan. But now I am fully dedicated and excited about the current Dreamstate tour in the US.

DC: What can we expect from a typical Paul Van Dyk concert?

PVD: I have a range of setups I play around with, but normally it consists of my laptop, a MIDI controller, a sequencer and a few other bits of equipment that allow me to be completely interactive and creative while I play. Its not just about playing the right song at the right time; its about how to play it and thats different for every set.

DC: If you had any tips for aspiring artists out there, what would they be?

PVD: Make the music you really like to listen to. And be sure to make it entirely on your own instead of trying to mimic or copy the sound of somebody else. Originality is essential.

Prepare For Transcendence: The Bliss 2017 Artist Guide – Dance Music Northwest

Posted: at 11:11 pm

USC Events awakened the delight of the Pacific Northwests trance scene last year with the debut of Bliss: the first, and only, trance massive in our region. The inaugural lineup was no slouch either: Giuseppe Ottaviani Live 2.0, John OCallaghan, Paul Oakenfold and more helped treat us to a night of love, music, and unity. When the calendar flipped to 2017, we eagerly awaited the announcement of Blisss return. When the announcement happened, and the lineup was revealed, our jaws dropped. If you love trance, or want to learn more about it, Bliss: Transcendence is something you wont want to miss. Heres a preview of what you can expect from this years performers:

Nifra

The Queen of Trance is set to grace Seattle with her presence, and we dont have to wait long to see her in action; shes currently set to open the night! Hailing from Slovakia, Nifra calls her style of music progressive trance with balls, a style that has received support from some of the biggest names in the genre. Perhaps her biggest cheerleader is Markus Schulz. Since joining Schulzs Coldharbour Recordings, the two have worked together on many occasions- whether it be on a song, or performing a back-to-back set. Schulz influence is evident; listen to a Nifra track and a Markus Schulz track. Sound similar? If you like Schulz, you wont want to miss Nifras opening set!

Menno De Jong

Not feeling the Queen of Trance? Lets try the tallest trance DJ in the world! Standing at a towering 68, Dutchman Menno De Jong is just as big in the trance community. In addition to working as a DJ/producer, De Jong serves as the A & R Manager of In Trance We Trust, one of the most famous labels in the genre (co-founded by trance Tiesto back in the day). De Jong, like Nifra, leans toward the progressive side with his sound, but, recently, has added a touch of tech and psy- an example being the single posted above. The difference between the two artists? De Jong can scale things back to create classic, melodic songs. Expect a well-rounded trance experience during his set.

Sneijder

When Sneijder takes the stage, be ready to go on a journey through the darker side of trance music. Hailing from Northern Ireland, Sneijder has been one of trances fast risers in recent years. He has releases on some of the biggest labels in the genre, and collaborations with Giuseppe Ottaviani, Aly & Fila and fellow Irishman Bryan Kearney (who will also be performing at Bliss), to name a few. His sound is more progressive, but, like Menno De Jong, hes added some elements of psy to his arsenal- a common trend in todays resurgent trance scene. His sets are fast, hard-hitting, and often dark. Check out his Bliss guest mix for a little taste of whats to come!

Russian Trance Star Alexander Popov launches new label … – Trance Hub (satire) (press release) (blog)

Posted: April 30, 2017 at 10:34 pm

Having pampered Trance fans the world over with a deluge of remarkable tracks for the past ten years, Alexander Popov has taken the next logical step in his career. Today, the Russian DJ and producer has given rise to his own label Interplay and blasted its first release onto the world: Eyes To Heaven.

Listen to: Alexander Popov Eyes To Heaven

Choosing the name for the label wasnt a tough decision. Alexander Popovs Interplay brand started a little under three years ago when he launched his own radio show and expanded even further when he launched the first edition of his Interplay mix compilation series, which is to see its third edition released later this year. Now that Alexander Popov has given rise to his Interplay label, the brand is about to get a whole lot bigger.

Alexander Popov: Armada and I have been working together for a long time. Im happy to be an artist of such a great label and its amazing to see how the company has grown in the past few years. Now, Im very excited to announce that Im launching my own label, Interplay, under the wing of Armada.

Maykel Piron, CEO Armada Music: Alexander Popov has been with us for quite some time and we feel that these amazing years were just the beginning. The Interplay label is a great new step in his career and we are grateful for the chance to be a part of it.

Eyes To Heaven, the first release on Interplay, already proved its worth as one of the exclusive tracks on Armin van Buurens recently released A State Of Trance 2017 mix album and continues to turn heads with its blissful breakdown and magical melody. Its an outpouring of emotion that captivates Trance fans from the first second till the last and a sterling example of what fans can expect from the new label.
