European equity markets are expected to open higher on Monday, although trading is likely to be relatively light given the US bank holiday which helped drive similar conditions in Asia overnight.

It would appear were still in a kind of trance at the moment whereby equity markets continue to shuffle higher in the hope that Donald Trump will deliver on his fiscal stimulus, tax and deregulation plans and yet, theres no conviction in the rallys. This isnt overly surprising given the amount of political risk at the moment but you wonder how much longer we can remain in this state before we wake up.

Risk Aversion Percolates

Thats not necessarily to say markets are going to collapse or even enter correction but I think were nearing the point at which investors may start demanding something a little more concrete. Its difficult to ignore the moves in Gold and the yen alongside this which typically accompany more risk averse conditions. Perhaps it just reflects underlying uncertainty which is a concern.

Gold is actually trading a little lower so far today having interestingly failed to break above the high from 8 August, despite coming very close. The next big test for Gold will now come around $1,216.73, last weeks lows, with a break through here possibly triggering a move back below $1,200 towards $1,180.63.

As mentioned above, with it being a bank holiday in the US today, we could be looking at a slightly quieter session. We have some scatterings of low level data throughout the day but nothing that I would expect will cause too much of a jolt in the markets. The Reserve Bank of Australia minutes from its recent meeting, released overnight, will likely be the next event of note.

Black Country driver tasered by police during diabetic trance after losing control

POLICE tasered a Rowley Regis driver after he lost control of his car in Dudley in a diabetic trance.

Gareth Davies narrowly missed hitting workmen and a pedestrian whilst just avoiding a head on crash with a bus.

The 55-year-old later told police he was in "something like a dreamlike state" as he drove through traffic lights on red and clipped the kerb during the ten minute pursuit.

He admitted to the officers he was diabetic and he had been "feeling funny."

Geoffrey, Dann prosecuting, said: "The manner of his driving was entirely consistent with a hypoglycemic attack."

Wolverhampton Crown Court Recorder Jacqueline Carey told Davies, of Union Street, she had given serious consideration to sending him straight into custody because of his "seriously bad driving."

She added: "After hearing about you and your ill health I do not think it would be in the public interest to put you in prison immediately."

Davies admitted dangerous driving and he was given a 12 month jail term suspended for two years and disqualified from driving for two years.

Mr Dann said the manner of Davies' driving so alarmed another motorist that he called the police after seeing his Vauxhall Vectra veer along New Rowley Road, Dudley.

He said: "The car was travelling in an erratic manner and hitting the kerb."

"The man who was following the Vectra assumed its driver was either drunk or high on drugs."

Police then took up the chase and an officer told Davies to stop but he ignored the order and went through to more sets of lights on red around Castle Hill.

The chase finally ended when Davies was trapped in a cul-de-sac but he then had to be tasered before he could be detained.

Andrew Rayel Announces 'Moments' Album & World Tour - Trance Hub (satire) (press release) (blog)

Another week, another local artist reaching out to The Point News with food for The Squawk Hawk. This time, it was Ross McGuire, an electronica producer seeking a review of the flagship track off of his upcoming first album. McGuire describes his style as Psychedelic Trance, which seems appropriate once youve lent him an ear.

The 25-minute long demo consisted of some interesting tunes that are great to listen to while you hunker down into homework. The Crisis in Circadia is probably the best place for new listeners to start sinking into the music with, and works great for study sessions when you catch yourself falling asleep. Beats like this send you into hyperdrive, and even the long research essay youve been putting off can feel like a super-secret mission in a cool spy movie if you put these tracks on while you (finally) get it done. Id also highly recommend the faster-paced tracks, like Arcade, for an energy boost at the gym.

The music is definitely cool, this coming from someone who is rather uneducated when it comes to the genre. I reached out to a friend (also anonymous) for a more insider review on the tunes and all he had to say was It bumps. Seems like a thumbs up to me.

Psyberscenic is the perfect local artist to promo at your next party or rave if your speakers (and your friends) can handle it.

How does one come up with this, you might ask? A staffer of The Point News speculates that McGuire probably plays Kirby and whatever buttons he presses he writes down, and then that translates into song. Good thoughts, but these rhythms feel a little bit more intentional than that.

Before I make my next comment, let me say that this review is not meant to be a hack job. I really appreciate whats being done on this album, but am unequipped to really describe it aside from vague metaphors. It feels like Im in that weird episode of SpongeBob SquarePants where you dont really know whats going on, but you know that its a little threatening to the norm.

If youre looking for some cool new noise, and unafraid of the potential for an out of body experience, consider checking out Psyberscenic. I give this album talons, and would listen again.

In recent columns, weve explored the evolutionary development and potential of the human brain and how new approaches, including mindfulness can use this knowledge to better manage our emotions and chronic pain.

Clinical hypnosis is a technique used by specially trained health professionals to help an individual engage the subconscious mind to reinforce positive thoughts, emotions and behaviours.

It can help you visualize a positive healthier future.

The hypnotic or trance state is an altered state of consciousness that we naturally fall in and out of each day.

Remember the last time you were in a movie theatre totally engaged in the characters and story on the screen?

Remember awakening from that trance when the credits rolled and you walked out of the theatre?

How often have you walked or driven home when your mind was elsewhere and you found yourself at home sooner than you expected without thinking about it?

You were in trance as an impressionable toddler and child, during emotionally charged experiences in the past, in a new place that engaged your senses, when you fell in love for the first time, and when you were lost in thought earlier today.

In these uncontrolled trance states, our unconscious is highly sensitive to suggestion.

We may have accepted incorrect beliefs about the world, other people and ourselves and these incorrect or maladaptive beliefs shape the stories we tell ourselves.

In turn, our personal stories affect our outlook on life and our conscious perspective.

Having suffered from chronic pain in the past, Ive recognized how easy it is to fall into negative thinking traps or cognitive distortions that actually increased my suffering. Negative thoughts about our pain can include the following.

The pain is just going to get worse.

I have to take something (drugs or alcohol) to manage the pain.

I have to find the right test or treatment to cure the pain.

Because the pain gets worse with activity, I must be causing harm and I have to lie down and rest.

Our subconscious mind can accept these beliefs without question.

Similarly, negative beliefs and assumptions we accepted in the trances of early life, can contribute to anxiety, depression and unhappiness throughout our adult lives.

Im not good enough.

I have to be perfect.

The world is a dangerous place.

Somethings wrong with me.

People cant be trusted. Life is unfair.

With mindfulness and cognitive behavioural therapy, we can uncover maladaptive thoughts and beliefs, and step-by-step replace them with those that are more accurate, adaptive and empowering.

We can become conscious and aware co-authors of our own life stories and agents of positive change in our personal lives and in our world.

All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. We allow the conscious mind to relax and engage the subconscious mind using imagery.

We often start with deliberate relaxed breathing. Unlike mindfulness meditation, we control rather than simply observe the breath.

In hypnotic inductions, we use the breath as a vehicle of progressive relaxation and imagine the whole body letting go with each successive breath.

When we reach a stage of deep relaxation, we offer positive suggestions to the subconscious.

These suggestions reinforce the new more adaptive neural pathways that will enhance our coping with lifes challenges and allow us to visualize ourselves mastering our lives and achieving our personal potentials.

This creates a positive blueprint for our minds.

Because clinical hypnosis is not appropriate for every person and every psychological or physical health condition, it should only be used by experienced and appropriately trained professionals.

Even though 2017 is still in its early stages, Armada Music is already turning it into their best year yet. Amidst the rush of quality releases and high-profile signings, the Amsterdam-based record label has announced the first-ever Armada Night China tour. The tour is to take place between March 1st and March 4th and features three of the labels top artists: Andrew Rayel, David Gravell and KhoMha.

From Wednesday March 1st to Saturday March 4th, Armada Night is to turn the country of China into the dance music epicenter of the world. The tour, a joint project with Sigma Touring, starts off with a show at Club Grammy in Foshan on Wednesday, after which it offers a continuation of the madness to the crowds at respectively Space in Chengdu, M2 Club Yun in Shenzhen and Myst in Shanghai on Thursday, Friday andSaturday.
