Cyberpunk 2077 System Requirements: What Hardware Do You …

Posted: July 21, 2020 at 12:18 pm

Cyberpunk 2077 is coming, on November 19. That's the latest release data, the third and hopefully last time the official launch has been pushed back. Developers CD Projekt Red (CDPR) won't want to miss launching in 2020 either, considering the source material (i.e., the Cyberpunk 2020 pen-and-paper RPG). But what sort of PC hardware will you need to run the game what are the Cyberpunk 2077 system requirements?

CDPR hasn't said anything specific yet, but we do know that Cyberpunk 2077 will support ray tracing and DLSS 2.0, which means if you want the full fidelity experience, you'll want one of the best graphics cards and by that we mean you'll want at least a GeForce RTX GPU. Cyberpunk also requires DirectX 12, which basically means Windows 10 (though DX12 has been ported to Windows 7, so maybe that will work).

While we can't guarantee that the following will agree with the official system requirements, we've put together a list of hardware that will definitely be able to run Cyberpunk 2077. We also discuss the upcoming hardware launches that we may see by the time the game launches, and how those affect buying considerations. So let's jack into the matrix, put on a Cyberpunk 2077 Brain Dance, and get ready for the year's most anticipated game.

CDPR is known for its detailed world building from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. At launch, that game struggled to run well on many PCs, especially at higher quality settings. Even now, five years later, running The Witcher 3 at 4K and maximum quality pushes top-tier GPUs to the limit. An RTX 2080 Ti with a Core i9-9900K coughed up 70 fps in our Novigrad GPU benchmark (see above video), which is great and very playable. However, that's on a beast of a PC that costs $2,750, on a five year old game.

More importantly, our test PC is also more than double the performance of the fastest PC available when The Witcher 3 launched. Actually, if you look at GTX 980 Ti SLI performance in The Witcher 3 cards that came out months after the game you'd only manage about 40 fps running 4K ultra. In other words, you don't want to skimp on your hardware if you expect to run Cyberpunk 2077 at high frame rates with all the bells and whistles enabled.

TOTAL PRICE: $1,843

Okay, we know what you're thinking: Over $1,800 just to play Cyberpunk 2077 is ludicrous! Except, you wouldn't just be able to play Cyberpunk, and this high-end PC can handle anything else you might want to throw at it. You could get more cores for better multi-threaded performance with a Ryzen 9 3900X or Core i9-10900K, but as we're mostly focusing on the gaming aspect here, Intel's new Core i7-10700K is arguably the best choice.

If you're more interested in the minimum requirements to get Cyberpunk 2077 running, still with ray tracing support, here's a lesser build. It's still moderately expensive, and we can't guarantee high framerates with all the graphics settings turned up, but it should at least deliver a decent gaming experience.

TOTAL PRICE: $857

That's less than half the total cost, and in practice it will be around 35% slower in gaming performance. It's also half the memory and half the storage capacity you might want to add a secondary drive, or just upgrade to a 1TB SSD for $35 more. This is the type of build we expect to be able to run Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p and high/ultra settings, while still getting close to 60 fps. However, that's only a guesstimate as we don't actually know how demanding the game will be.

If you're not worried about ray tracing, you could also drop down to an RX 5600 XT and save about $30 while getting similar performance.Downgrading to a lesser CPU, or just using whatever you already have, should be fine as well.

One thing to keep in mind is that while Cyberpunk 2077 will be launching on PC and the next-generation PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles, it will also be available on current-generation consoles. The hardware in the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One is pretty decrepit by today's standards, so any modest PC should be fine if you just want to run the game. It might be at 30 fps, but it should still be playable.

You don't need to buy an entire PC either, naturally. If you already have a decent PC, the main consideration for running Cyberpunk 2077 is your graphics card. You can see how performance stacks up between the various options in our full GPU hierarchy, but we've selected the penultimate consumer GPU right now. The RTX 2080 Ti is perhaps 20% faster but costs about 60% more, which is a dubious proposition at the best of times. And these aren't the best of times when it comes to purchasing a new graphics card.

Despite what we've listed above, what we really want to recommend is an RTX 3080 Ampere GPU or an RX 6900 XT Big Navi GPU. Okay, we don't actually know the final names of either of those, but we expect both AMD and Nvidia to have new GPUs available before the Cyberpunk 2077 launch. Considering Nvidia has been working with CDPR to get ray tracing effects incorporated into Cyberpunk 2077 for at least the past year, an Nvidia GPU is probably the safer bet. We'll have to wait for the actual launch of both GPUs to see how they stack up, but DLSS 2.0 at least will require an Nvidia GPU (as far as we're aware), and based on the other features planned for Cyberpunk 2077, DLSS is going to be very useful.

What features are we referring to? Mostly ray tracing, where Cyberpunk 2077 looks to match and even exceed Control when it comes to using various rendering techniques. Here's the rundown of what CDPR currently has planned, courtesy of Nvidia's blog post:

If that's all a bit complicated, let me sum up: At maximum quality settings, you can expect Cyberpunk 2077 to push ray tracing hardware to the limit. Many previous games have only used one of those techniques: RT shadows are in Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare; RT reflections are used in Battlefield V, Control, and Wolfenstein Youngblood; and RT AO and diffuse lighting are used in Metro Exodus. Combine all of those in one game, and we expect framerates to plummet. DLSS 2.0 will help offset that, but perhaps more important than having a GPU that can do ray tracing effects will be having a second generation ray tracing GPU. Which brings us back to the RTX 3080 and Ampere, or AMD's Big Navi technically AMD's hardware will be first generation ray tracing, but maybe AMD learned a thing or two from Nvidia's initial RTX 20-series launch.

Rumors are swirling that Ampere GPUs could have anywhere from two to four times the ray tracing performance of Turing, thanks to improvements in the architecture. Nvidia has not confirmed those rumors, though it did say that the Tensor cores in its A100 GPUs are four times as efficient as the Turing Tensor cores. Given how new ray tracing hardware is, seeing major improvements in performance with new GPUs is entirely possible. But it also might not happen. Either way, we'd strongly suggest waiting to see how RTX 3080 and RX 6900 XT perform before buying a new graphics card, unless you absolutely have to have something today.

It's not just GPUs that could see new models by the time Cyberpunk 2077 rolls out the door. Both AMD and Intel are working on new processors, AMD with Zen 3 / Ryzen 4000 and Intel with Rocket Lake and Tiger Lake. Tiger Lake is the least interesting as it pertains to Cyberpunk 2077, since it will most likely be confined to laptop use and won't have ray tracing capabilities in its integrated graphics. Zen 3 and Rocket Lake are a different story.

AMD's Zen 2 architecture brought significant performance improvements to Ryzen 3000 CPUs and also boosted core counts. Zen 3 promises a unified L3 cache that could further reduce memory latencies and improve performance. It might not make it out before Cyberpunk 2077 hits the shelves, but AMD says Zen 3 is still on track to launch in 2020. It will also work in existing AMD socket AM4 motherboards, after a BIOS update, though you may not get all the features (like PCIe Gen4) if you're not using at least an X570 or B550 board.

Intel's Rocket Lake will be the first post-Skylake architecture to hit desktops Kaby Lake, Coffee Lake, the Coffee Lake refresh, and Comet Lake are all Skylake derivatives, just with more cores in the case of the last three, and slightly improved UHD 630 integrated graphics (vs. Skylake's UHD 530). How much will Rocket Lake improve Intel CPU performance? That's not clear, and we don't know core counts either, but it should be better than Comet Lake and will also support PCIe Gen4. It will also work in existing Z490 motherboards, though we'll probably get new Z590 or whatever boards for the Rocket Lake launch just because.

Once again, the sage advice is to wait for these launches before taking the plunge on new hardware. Games also tend to be more forgiving of older CPUs than of previous generation GPUs, so even a CPU that's several generations old should still be okay. As far as minimum CPU requirements go, Cyberpunk 2077 will probably still run okay even on a Core i5-4670K or similar. Just don't plan on a smooth 60 fps or more if you're sporting an old CPU.

The main hurdle for any PC to run Cyberpunk 2077 is undoubtedly going to be the graphics card. If you're willing to run at minimum quality and a lower resolution, or maybe enable resolution scaling, and if you're okay with 30 fps, it will probably run just fine on whatever hardware your current gaming PC has. That's assuming you have a GTX 1060 or RX 570 or better GPU. You might even be able to go to older / slower hardware and still run the game, but no guarantees and none of the fancy graphics effects. Cyberpunk 2077 will be available on current generation PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles as well, so we know the minimum requirements can't be much worse than other games.

Judging by The Witcher 3, you'll want at least a 6-core CPU to hit a consistent 60 fps or more in the crowds of Night City, and perhaps even that won't be sufficient. We'll know more in the coming months, but CDPR has been doing Cyberpunk 2077 demos for over a year now, and most recently allowed a bunch of gaming press to go hands on for four hours. You can read PC Gamer's impressions of Cyberpunk 2077, but the important thing is that the demo was running on current hardware there's no way Nvidia or AMD would allow such a demonstration on Ampere or Big Navi! And by all accounts, the game ran decently, though ray tracing effects may not have been enabled.

We're not suggesting that you run out and buy a new PC or upgrade your existing PC in advance of the game launching. Quite the opposite, as new GPUs and CPUs are right around the corner. And in November (assuming the game hits this release date), there will be other new hardware 'coming soon,' so you also want to avoid getting caught up in the perpetual waiting game. If you're already running an Nvidia RTX graphics card, you should definitely sit back and wait. If not, unless there's some other games that you can't currently play at the performance levels you'd like, waiting is still the best advice. But come November, don't be surprised if you find yourself pining for new hardware to make the most of Cyberpunk 2077's detailed world.

R.Talsorian Games

Johnny Silverhand

Cyberpunk 2.0.2.0., later subtitled, The Classic Roleplaying Game of the Dark Future, is the second edition of the popular pen and paper RPG series Cyberpunk. The Game was designed by Mike Pondsmith and was an updated version of the original Cyberpunk 2013 rule set.

The Second edition was titled 2020 to reflect the updated setting of the year 2020. The Second edition was originally produced as a box set that included the rulebook and a supplementary screamsheet booklet, featuring information and several mini adventures.

Cyberpunk 2020 spawned numerous Sourcebooks and Adventurebooks and was followed up with the Firestorm series that moved the timeline to the year 2022 and the beginnings of the Fourth Corporate War.

In 2005 the series was followed up by an official sequel, Cyberpunk Version 3.0. In 2013 it was announced that an official video game sequel would be made by Polish developer, CD Projekt Red as well as an official fourth edition of the pen and paper RPG titled Cyberpunk RED.

Mike Pondsmith moved Cyberpunk into the 2020s for the second edition, with this updated setting came new world events, technology and characters as well as greatly expanding the existing world. The setting of Night City became a real world rather than the ambiguous near future city of Cyberpunk 2013 and many of the Corporations received fully fleshed out histories, and names for high level members. The Cyberpunk 2020 rulebook included almost everything from the first edition from the character roles to the Never Fade Away adventure with Johnny Silverhand. After the widespread publication of the book, the first edition, Cyberpunk 2013 became obsolete and Cyberpunk 2020 took its place as the primary way to play the game.

To start playing, first one must create their character. A Cyberpunk on the mean streets of Night City, working for whoever pays best, taking down local gangs or going up against multinational conglomerates, whatever it is you will need to prepare accordingly. In both Cyberpunk 2013 and 2020 there are nine primary character roles, each filling a specific niche. In the subsequent sourcebooks, many of these roles were greatly expanded upon to give location or scenario specific alternates.

The first printing of Cyberpunk 2020 was published in 1990 and like Cyberpunk 2013, came as a boxed set, featuring dice, the version 1.00 rule-book and the scream sheet supplementary booklet.

A Year later in 1991 the version 2.00 edition was released. It is assumed that this was just the standalone book release after the initial run of the box set. The Screamsheet booklet was included as part of the book.

Two years later in 1993 R.Talsorian Games published their 2.01 version of the core rulebook. Included are the screamsheets and character sheets as spelling and grammatical error fixes. The biggest new addition is the new artwork from the Italian printing of the book by Stratelibri. Creator Mike Pondsmith thanks Stratelibri as well as the team and artist that put it together.

After the 2013 reveal of the Cyberpunk 2077 video game R.Talsorian Games began production on a new printing of the Cyberpunk 2020 rule book. The new printing of the book is essentially the 2.01 version with slightly altered cover art. The book subtitle was changed to The Classic Role Playing Game of the Dark Future, the sign advertising the new artwork was removed, and the two horizontal white bars were removed from around the logo.

With the release of the first edition, Cyberpunk 2013, R.Talsorian Games also produced several supplementary sourcebooks, to give players a little bit more information on certain aspects of the game. Only four were produced and were nothing more than small, magazine sized booklets. In the coming years after 2020s initial release, dozens of Sourcebooks would be produced, detailing all aspects that were not covered by the original rulebooks. Everything from guides to Night City, America and the far East, to detailed reports on the various Corporations as well as several catalogue style books, giving players more choice in their fashion, technology and weapons.

As of 2018 the Box set is long out of print and is seldom seen on online auction websites, typically going for a large sum. However in 2013, after the announcement of the video game Cyberpunk 2077, R.Talsorian Games began a fourth printing. In mid 2018, after the E3 reveal of Cyberpunk 2077, the popularity surged once again with a high demand for the books and several more printings are planned throughout 2018.

PONDSMITH, M. Cyberpunk 2020. 2nd ed. Berkeley CA; R.Talsorian Games, 1990.

Cyberpunk 2077 concept art has a really weird dog and I’m into it – GamesRadar+

Posted: at 12:18 pm

The tour of Cyberpunk 2077 districts stops at Heywood today, with a fresh set of concept art to give you an early look at life in the neighborhood.

Heywood is unique among the districts that developer CD Projekt Red has toured so far - Westbrook, City Center, and Santa Domingo - in that it has a dual identity. In the north there's "modern skyscrapers and parks", while in the south the city has fallen into disrepair and gangs control the streets. Mind you, that's not necessarily worse than the corporate-owned cops controlling the streets, just different.

The first piece of concept art gives us a bird's-eye view of Heywood: toward the docks and center of the district there are blocks of squat, low-level buildings, while further up are corporate high-rises. The second image zooms in to show us what looks like a sub-level of a shopping complex, with stores for guns, shoes, and cybernetic implants all handily accessible in one location.

The last image might be my favorite piece of Cyberpunk 2077 concept art so far, because it really shows off the people and the city as one organic entity: everybody's out and about, tending to their business, and it feels like each corner has a story. Even if I wouldn't want to play through them all, I'd like to lean in and listen for a little while. I'm especially curious about that bright red dog with the cybernetic leg and the cheetah spots. What is going on there, and how do I get one?

Cyberpunk 2077 recently made a tribute to Hideo Kojima, and Heywood would be a pretty good place to meet him for a street race. Just saying.

CDPR shares a glimpse of the "bad neighbourhood" of Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City – TrueAchievements

Posted: July 5, 2020 at 10:39 am

As November draws nearer, CD Projekt Red continues to share glimpses of the world of Cyberpunk 2077. It's now shared new details on Watson, the "bad neighbourhood of Night City", the braindance technician character shown during the Night City Wire gameplay, and images of how protagonist V might look in each of the three life paths open to players: Nomad, Street Kid, and Corporate.First up, there's artwork showing different glimpses of Watson, "the bad neighbourhood of Night City", devastated by economic disaster and home to the Maelstrom and Tyger Claws gangs. We know there will be seven districts in the game: six within Night City itself, with the seventh being The Badlands, the area surrounding the city. The devs discussed The Badlands during CDPR's Night City Wire as a sort of extra district: a "dead, dried-out space" inhabited by nomads. We've heard, too, about Pacifica: like Watson, the area was meant for tourists but fell to ruin once its investors decided to take their funding elsewhere, and, like Watson, the area is now dominated by gangs. When the Cyberpunk 2077 art book was revealed back in 2019, it seemed to hint at the game's map, showing glimpses of other districts such as Santo Domingo, Westbrook, and the city centre. Yet this is the first proper look we've had at the Watson district: an area with the bright neon colours and skyscrapers meant for its wealthier days now contrasted with its present condition. These are artwork images, and we haven't yet seen the game's map in full, so it's still possible that Watson and the rest of the map could look very different when the game releases. Still, it's interesting to get our first look into one part of Night City. Most recently, CDPR shared details about Judy Alvarez, "Night City's premier braindance technician." We saw Alvarez during the Night City Wire gameplay, as she talked V through the braindance procedure and how to use it. She is "heavily respected for her skills, innovation and creativity. Motivated to change things for the better she teamed with The Mox and currently works for them as a BD technician and editor." From the gameplay footage, it seems V will be working with her too. It also looks as though braindance will feature heavily in the game, perhaps as another way for V to earn money. Lastly, CDPR shared some images of V outfitted as the Street Kid. Nomad, Street Kid, and Corporate are the three life paths available to choose from at the start of the game. The descriptions of each class aren't new, but the images definitely are, and CDPR also tweeted accompanying pics of V as the Nomad and Corporate life paths. If you'd like to read more about these life paths, or about the game's story, world, and side content, check out our Cyberpunk 2077 roundup for more.

Cyberpunk 2077 launches on November 19th.

WATCH: Tencents Cyberpunk Themed Game Demo on Unreal Engine – Essentially Sports

Posted: at 10:39 am

Every gamer out there knows that Cyberpunk 2077 is going to take the gaming world by storm. It is one of a kind project that has accumulated a massive fan following. But what if a big name wants to rival the project? That seems to be just the case with Tencent. The videogame company have announced their own game in the cyberpunk genre, code-named SYN. Watch the technical demonstration trailer below courtesy of XboxViewTV.

Tencent is developing an open-world FPS much similar to the most-anticipated Cyberpunk 2077. The announcement was made at their annual conference on June 27. The project named SYN hasnt disclosed many details.

The game will be developed by Lightspeed and Quantum Studios; the same studios who were behind the PUBG mobile port. The 3-minute video showcased many stunning visuals from the game.

Much like Cyberpunk, SYN will also feature top levels of character customization. However, the video showcased no info on gameplay.

In addition to robot-like characters, you also get cyberpets. Pets do not mean dogs or cats, as the trailer showcased animals like a bear and a leopard. They had heavy armor on them, and it looks like they are capable of heavy damage. The pets too are customizable; looks and traits.

Cyber pets are likely to be the players aid throughout the game. It is unclear if these pets could be used as a ride. You can however take vehicles and customize them. The game also has three factions Enforcer, Anarchy, and Motorheads.

The game has been rendered by Unreal Engine and Epic Games will be assisting the team.

Our characters are realistic, yet stylish, with various customization features including cosmetics, skins, and extremely realistic effects achieved with our strand-based hair system through cooperation with Epic Games

The game does not have an official release date as of yet. SYN is set to launch for both PC and Consoles.

Jump into Night City with the gorgeous Xbox One X Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition console – CNN

Posted: at 10:39 am

CD Projekt REDs ambitious RPG Cyberpunk 2077 is finally headed to retail shelves this holiday season. Its a frustrating wait for anyone ready to get their hands on the game, but theres one way to fit Cyberpunk into your gaming routine right now: The Xbox One X Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition 1 TB System.

This special edition bundle, which is the last Xbox One X bundle well likely see before the Xbox Series X debuts, is packed with everything you need to feel like youre in the futuristic world of Night City.

The package includes the special Limited Edition 1 TB console, matching wireless controller, a full game download of Cyberpunk 2077 and a one-month trial of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. But the ultimate allure is, of course, the fact that its an extremely limited edition (its sold out at most retailers) and that its an attractive console.

The entire package is colorful, from the internal packets with setup instructions to the casing. Its the little details that make it feel special. For instance, the system includes a teal HDMI cable. It isnt exactly the same color as the console, but its the first time an HDMI cord other than the standard black or white has been included with a system. That alone makes this console an intriguing buy.

Once youre past the components and cables, you get a glimpse at the two-toned controller, half-black and half-chrome with red accents, meant to evoke Keanu Reeves character Johnny Silverhand. The left trigger is red, while the right is black. The words No Future are etched into the side, while the face buttons are marked with red letters. It comes with two AA batteries, which is typical of Xbox One controllers.

The console is sleek and brightly hued, with two different designs on the top and bottom. One side is slightly gray with the words No Future and Samurai emblazoned across the top and bottom, with the games iconic logo representing the fictional band featured in-game.

Johnny Silverhand was a member of the group, and the characters influence can be seen all over the machine. The bottom reads, in graffiti-like print, Wheres Johnny? in reference to Silverhands alleged disappearance advertised in the game.

The console has a pleasing matte finish to cut down on fingerprints and feels nice and hefty. The back of the system, where the vents are located, features tricolor banding with gray, navy and gold hues. The front (or top) of the system showcases the Xbox logo, the Seocho Electronics etching and Super Capacitor logo, along with warnings that there is a strong magnetic field.

Theres a worn, futuristic look to it, but if you dont like the bold coloring of the top, youll more than certainly appreciate the Samurai nod to Johnny and the boys.

Interestingly enough, on the back of the machine near the bottom corner, youll find a square that reads Uniform, Victor, Mike, Echo. As a keen-eyed Redditor pointed out, these are instructions to UV Me, as in take a UV light to this section. If you do so, youll find the message Many languages, one message, as well as Thank you printed in a variety of languages, capped off with CD Projekt RED Xbox.

In terms of functionality, this Xbox One X doesnt work differently than a typical model, but theres a striking difference thats typical of special edition Xbox One systems. It elicits a special startup and shutdown noise thats evocative of a classic robotic noise when you turn it on and off. Theres a futuristic cobbled together vibe to the machine, as well as its controller, which fits the aesthetic and gives it an edge over other variations.

Unfortunately, given that Cyberpunk 2077 isnt scheduled to release until November, there was no opportunity to test the new Xbox Direct Delivery system that does away with code redemption and sends unlocked content to your console.

When the game finally releases, it will automatically be sent to your console, provided youve logged into your Microsoft account on the Cyberpunk system. Further down the line, youll get the first DLC expansion, which will likely run anywhere from $4.99 to $19.99 in true fashion for additional content.

The Xbox One X Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition 1 TB System is a worthy investment for anyone looking to expand their console collection or add another system to their setup ahead of the Xbox Series Xs debut this holiday season.

Its unique, tough to find and features plenty of interesting touches that make it the coolest model of the Xbox One X. Its certainly going to be a collectors item, so if you find one, its a good idea to snap it up. And if it sells out, theres a number of other Xbox One Xs that offer a nearly identical experience. You can also score the Cyberpunk 2077 controller for $74.99.

Note: The prices above reflect the retailers listed price at the time of publication.

Cyberpunk 2077 goes businesspunk with a look at the Corpo life path – GamesRadar+

Posted: at 10:39 am

Update: CD Projekt Red has shown off a look at the third and final Cyberpunk 2077 life path: meet Corpo V.

The corporate types have a smartly tailored black-and-red look that is clearly the most reserved of the three. Masculine V's sporting a single-breasted suit with a red undershirt, while feminine V gets a red jacket with grey shoulder pads. My favorite detail on both of the designs is the shirt, which has a collar with a sort of integrated necktie. Ties have changed a lot since we started choking ourselves out with cravats in the name of fashion, so it makes sense they'd keep morphing into the future.

You can take a look at the other life path looks CD Projekt Red shared in the last few days below.

Original story follows

Cyberpunk 2077 is showing off some special looks for your main character, based on which life path you choose at the start of the game.

When you create your own custom protagonist at the start of Cyberpunk 2077, you'll be able to select one of three life paths: Nomad, Street Kid, and Corpo. These determine what your hero V's life was like before you joined their story, and they also determine the opening of the game with further echoes throughout the storyline. And as these new tweets from the Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account reveal, they'll have an influence on your character's look.

Up first is a look at Nomad fashion. It's a lot of leather, denim, ragged edges - and most of all - vests. A Nomad caught out roving the wastelands without their vest is as good as dead (I assume). Their guns have been personalized with graffiti, and look like they may have been kitbashed together from looted junk.

Next, CD Projekt Red gave us a look at V in their Street Kid form. No vests, just graphic tops, and V's feminine look is even rocking some fly-as-hell gold pants. They also get to show off a sci-fi katana with a glowing blade. Masculine V's pants aren't quite as cool, and they only get a dinky little handgun, but I would wear those high-top trainers in a heartbeat.

CD Projekt Red hasn't given us a look at Corpo fashion yet, though it's safe to assume that we'll see more within the next couple days (our own Sam Loveridge chose that path for her recent Cyberpunk 2077 hands-on preview). If previous looks at corporate types in the game are anything to go by, we can expect business fashion vaguely informed by '80s power suits and perhaps even some professional-strength mullets.

Take another look at life in Night City with these Cyberpunk 2077 ray tracing screenshots.

Games Inbox: Will Cyberpunk 2077 be bigger than The Last Of Us Part 2? – Metro.co.uk

Cyberpunk 2077 will it be game of the year? (pic: CD Projekt)

The Tuesday Inbox has some new suggestions for Super Smash Bros. fighters, as one reader offers some Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 speculation.

To join in with the discussions yourself email gamecentral@ukmetro.co.uk

Three-way battleNow that The Last Of Us Part 2 is out and a huge success (just as everyone sensible expected, with the complainers once again proven to be an insignificant minority) its obviously a front runner for game of the year. Theres so little out this year though that the only real competition, unless you want to add Call Of Duty to the mix, is Cyberpunk 2077 and Halo Infinite.

Now, obviously I know nothing about Halo Infinite and to be honest I still dont feel like I know a whole lot about Cyberpunk really. The recent videos did give a decent feel for how it would look and feel but to me theres something a bit off. As another reader said, the combat just looks stiff to watch and I worry about it. Now The Last Of Us Part 2 doesnt have amazing combat but it gets the job does and its biggest crime is being a bit simplistic and generic.

I wasnt that impressed by the dialogue in Cyberpunk either. It all seemed a bit tryhard and dude bros. to me. I get that these are just low rent scumbags youre dealing with/playing as but Im already missing the more intelligent characters of The Witcher 3. So my prediction is that The Last Of Us probably will be the best, unless Halo Infinite manages to properly reinvent itself. Which it may well do, but Microsoft has got a hell of a sell to make to prospective buyers to convince them of that.Combi

Last of the dinosaursI have to say Im looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077. Looking at the recent updates and footage the game seems to be the best parts of GTA, Deus Ex, and The Witcher with some interesting concepts and shady characters. The braindance stuff reminds me of detective mode from the Batman games. The driving elements reminded me of a trip to Hong Kong with all the neon lights and busy streets.

The soundtrack also seems good. I think the decision to polish the game further until November is a good one as the gunplay seems a bit stiff. Its the right move to release a game finished, which is a rarity these days.

It does make me wonder though if a game like this can be realised on the current gen then do we need the next gen yet? Your article about the cost of games always increasing gave good insight, at some point something has to give. I wonder if a game like this could become the last of its kind? Imagine the cost of producing this game from scratch on the next gen surely only a handful of studios could afford the risk and time?R McKenna (gamertag)

You snooze, you looseYouve got to laugh that its taken Warner Bros. so long to announce Harry Potter that the whole brand has been poisoned by its creator and the publisher is about to be sold. I feel for the developers as Warner Bros. to me are the ultimate example of the problems people have been talking about where games take too long to make now and require so much money nothing gets greenlit and youre left with literally nothing.

Batman is the ultimate example because WB Games Montral hasnt made a single game all generation, because of constant cancellations. All they need now is for Batman to suddenly become unfashionable for some reason (it kind of already is because of Marvel?) and their failure will be complete.Wicky

Smash MegamixI was thinking the other day, what my dream Smash Bros. guest character would be. People wanted Dante before the Byleth reveal. But hed be more like Bayonetta and just like her, would have to have his moveset streamlined to fit just like her and theyre both better suited to Soulcalibur anyway.

I did think how about Rez? But the character is just a generic shooter type. A stage based on Rez would be pretty awesome though

But, lets face it, Smash is still pretty conservative when it comes to the likes of Fighters Megamix and Project Justice. In Megamix you could fight as a palm tree and a car! Not Transformers style, either but it would stand up on its rear wheels like they were feet and punch you with its front wheels! Bonkers! Genius! I want the Daytona Hornet in Smash like yesterday!

Though, unless Sakurai himself is personally a huge fan, I doubt that will happen. Which is a shame, as I really want it now.DMR

GC: In what way are Dante and Bayonetta better suited to Soulcalibur? Their combat is based on fast and acrobatic movement, not shuffling around in a small semi-circle.

Less than 40,000The petition to remake the storyline of The Last of Us 2 has over 40,000 signatures at time of writing. I wonder how many of these people have actually finished the game?

Personally, I really enjoyed the storyline. It was tough going at times, but I found the characters, acting, and plot all to be top notch. Not many games tackle topics as mature as the nature of human existence, the futility of war and violence, and the absurdity of tribalism and othering.

The characters are flawed and complex, as they were in the first game and as is to be expected given the situation they find themselves in. You cant make decisions for them but doing so would have diluted the impact of the plot.

All of this is wrapped up with slick, engaging gameplay and tense, thrilling action sequences. I really do think it deserves all the praise its been getting. A truly great game.Mud

Series repeatIn answer to your question regarding The Last Of Us Part 2 bugs, yes Im playing on a base PlayStation 4. A PlayStation 4 slim to be precise. Like I said in my last letter, it only happened a handful of times, so the bugs and frame rate issues were minor and by no means detracted the overall experience. Ill send my findings onto Naughty Dog and I expect theyll be fixed in a patch.

Ive just started playing The Last Of Us Remastered, havent played this PlayStation 4 version before. I played the original at launch on the PlayStation 3. The remastered version certainly looks good even compared directly to the sequel. I often like playing through a full series of games back to back so I might do a new game plus playthrough of Part 2 and polish off the platinum.

I think knowing the full story beforehand will be a different experience, like I enjoyed playing through Bioshock again knowing the big twist at the end and understanding what Would you kindly? meant. Trying not to give anything away for The Last Of Us Part 2 here for people that havent finished it but I hope people who have get what I mean.Big Angry Dad82 (gamertag)

A link to the pastIm playing Zelda: Breath Of The Wild again for the fourth time in Master Mode this time. I am in Zeldas room at Hyrule Castle and Im reading Zeldas notes. One of the notes says about guardians: They are said to be stored in the five giant columns that rest beneath Hyrule Castle. The thing is no matter how I search beneath the castle, I cant seem to locate these columns. They must be buried deep.

Maybe this is a link to Breath Of The Wild 2? Five columns could be five dungeons. The first video of the sequel to Breath Of The Wild was underground. So maybe.woz_007 (NN ID)

The second of usThe Last of Us 2. Walking, talking, shooting, and looting. Gave up trying to be to stealthy. I dont really enjoy sneaky, sneaky gameplay and always seem to get spotted when trying.

The walking is gorgeous. The graphics are stunning, with Naughty Dogs realistic, natural style creating a believable, atmospheric, and beautiful post-apocalyptic world. The lighting is especially striking, be it blazing sun or overcast rainy climes. What Naughty Dog could achieve on PlayStation 5 is tantalising.

The talking is top notch. Its really well acted and totally absorbing. The game is long and could be edited better but its not too much of an issue for me.

The shooting is really fun. Its pretty simple but is tight and tense, just very satisfying. Refrain from using the listen function as well, to make the encounters more immersive.

The looting I dont enjoy and find distracts from the things Ive just said I do enjoy. Hate that I feel the need to have to check every damn nook and cranny. Wonder if theres an alternative? Resource points acquired from the shooting maybe to spend on crafting. Who knows.

The core themes of the game I found interesting and I liked where Naughty Dog took the characters. I think it was bold of them and I give them credit and respect for it.

But I cant decide if the manner in which they communicate their themes is cheap, not really all that clever and at times out of keeping for the characters or if its necessary. By necessary, I mean you have to make it difficult to accept for the player. Im currently leaning towards the former but every time I hear someone reject the game out of hand at the mid-point the more I lean to the latter and appreciate what Naughty Dog wanted to achieve for the game.

Either way Its an excellent game. Going to do a New Game+ playthrough on Survivor now. More than happy to spend another 20 to 30 hours in this game.Simundo

Inbox also-ransIs no one going to mention the Monkey Island games as being very hard? In the days before we had the internet those games were beyond frustratingRussell

Now that we know Gran Turismo 7 is coming do you think we will see the return of the B-Spec artificial intelligence in single-player that was in Gran Turismo 4? It will certainly be a useful feature for single-player endurance races and races with a lot of laps.gaz be rotten (gamertag)

GC: Anything is possible.

This weeks Hot TopicSince were now halfway through 2020 this weekends Inbox asks the question: what has been your favourite video game of the year so far?

To qualify, the game must be a new release from 2020, not just whatever older title you happen to have played this year. Its obviously been a very strange six months, but how different has the year been in terms of how many new games youve bought and how many youve played?

What do you think of the quality of the games so far this year and do you think they make up for the lack of quantity? What are your expectations for the rest of the year and how many new games and consoles do you expect to buy in the next six months?

Cyberpunk 2077 has plenty of sick style and an RGB katana in its Nomad, Street Kid and Corpo life paths – Critical Hit

Posted: July 3, 2020 at 5:47 am

The future is here, and buddy I sure do hope that youre dressed for it. Fashion is tricky to nail in video games, with an eye for detail needing to not only be contemporary but also grounded in enough forward-thinking so that your creations dont look instantly dated within a year. After all, remember when Mohawk haircuts were fashionable? Look at the box art for Mercenaries 2 and try not to cringe in horror at how awful personal style was in 2008.

One game that does have its eye on some bleeding edge haute couture is Cyberpunk 2077, which will allow you to craft a protagonist who doesnt just have a custom vagina but also some impressive threads depending on which life path you choose. Youll have three to choose from: Nomad, Street Kid and Corpo. Pick a life path, determine how Cyberpunk 2077 begins, how the story unfolds and some neat fashion as well! CD Projekt RED recently hit Twitter to provide a look at how your characters appearance will change according to the life path chosen. So lets hit the future fashion runway and take a look.

Nomad is pretty much the Mad Max of fashion: Rugged leather, plenty of graffiti on their kit and vests that can barely contain the pectoral power of your edgerunner. If a cosplayer raided a goodwill shop an hour before they were meant to hit the stage and show off their Thunderdome ensemble, theyd pretty much nail the Nomad vibe.

Roaming the Badlands, looting scrapyards, raiding fuel depots life on the road wasn't easy. But growing up in a Nomad clan has its perks. Honesty, integrity, and a love of freedom; qualities that few in Night City possess and no amount of money can buy. pic.twitter.com/pgPG8rnuwc

On the flipside of Nomad, is Street Kid. Millenial to the max and with enough pink to be confused for the 2019 year in video games, these street-smart fashion choices emphasise personal power as you lord it over the less-enhanced citizens of Night City. Plus that RGB katana looks pretty cool.

They say if you wanna understand the streets, you gotta live 'em. Gangs, fixers, dolls, small-time pushers you were raised by them all. Down here the law of the jungle dictates the weak serve the strong the only law in Night City you have yet to break. pic.twitter.com/0UbYbL72HM

CD Projekt Red gave us a look at V in their Street Kid form. No vests, just graphic tops, and Vs feminine look is even rocking some fly-as-hell gold pants. They also get to show off a sci-fi katana with a glowing blade. Masculine Vs pants arent quite as cool, and they only get a dinky little handgun, but I would wear those high-top trainers in a heartbeat.

In the life path that makes so much dang sense and the one Ill probably choose, Corpo is all about wealth, power and making damn certain that you flaunt your white collar success. Business jackets, not a tie in sight and the only thing that can make this outfit better would be an RGB turtleneck sweater. As Glenn would say, Turtleneck squad unite!

Few leave the corporate world with their lives fewer still with their souls intact. You've been there you've bent the rules, exploited secrets and weaponized information. There's no such thing as a fair game, only winners and losers. pic.twitter.com/WRr9OySZZJ

Which path will you choose, and why isnt it the best one, Corpo? Cyberpunk 2077 will finally be out in November, provided that it doesnt get delayed againagain.
